- Toadie and Dee decide to explore their relationship
- Yashvi is about to tell Shane about Ned's new career
- Mackenzie tells Shane that she's probably better off without her father.
- Shane tells Dipi that he called Grant (Mackenzie's father)
Dipi is shocked and Shane explains that he wanted Mackenzie to have contact with her dad on her 18th birthday. Apparently Grant is in a bad way - he's had an accident and is off work. Dipi says that their priority is Mackenzie. Shane is thinking over flying up to see Grant tomorrow and have a chat to him.
Yashvi, Ned and Mackenzie leave for their night out.
Toadie and Dee are very wrapped up in each other. They joke about how long Toadie has lived in Ramsay Street and he insists he's better looking now(!)
TOADIE: You are just more beautiful than you were when I met you. I didn't think that was possible.
They kiss. Eventually, they drag themselves away - or try to. She suggests he walks her home and they can kiss on the doorstep like teenagers(!)
Hendrix and Harlow have come home. Harlow says she wants to be by herself. She says she's worried about Roxy, but it feels like more than that.
Yashvi, Ned and Mackenzie arrive home. Mackenzie goes off to Facetime Richie. They've had a great night.
Ned thanks Yashvi for paying him into the club. He promises to tell Shane about his new "career".
NED: Your dad already thinks I'm a drop-kick. Why not tell him I'm unemployed, too(!)
YASHVI: That's the spirit!
(The following morning)
Shane and Dipi are acting suspiciously. Mackenzie doesn't really notice and thanks them for making her birthday so special. Shane is going to see Grant today.
As Shane and Dipi are hurrying to the car, Yashvi and Ned come up, telling Shane they need to tell him something.
SHANE: Don't tell me you two are engaged(!)
Ned finally tells Shane about leaving his job to try to make it as an artist. Shane and Dipi are skeptical. They get in the car and hurry off.
NED: Somehow, that went even worse than I thought it would(!)
Outside Harold's Café
Harlow tells Mackenzie that she's stressing about Hendrix.
MACKENZIE: What did he do now? Do you need me to beat him up?
Harlow laughs. She thinks she and Hendrix are doomed though - he can't wait to go clubbing until dawn and she prefers to stay home. She doesn't feel "fun" enough for him.
MACKENZIE: Come on, Harlow, you two are made for each other. You make him less of an idiot, and he makes you less of a...lover of rules.
Toadie meets up with Dee outside the hospital.
DEE: Feels like forever since I saw you last.
They smile at each other which progresses to passionate looks. He suggests they could go to the cinema...or an art gallery...
DEE: Or we could just...go back to my place...no-one's home today.
TOADIE: Your place, as in...
DEE: As in, I've been thinking about it a lot since last night, and I...kind of get the impression that you have too?
TOADIE: What gave it away? Was it my incredibly suave moves?
DEE: That might have been a small clue. I don't want to rush things, I know it's a big deal for you. It's a big deal for me, too.
TOADIE: Yeah, it is a big deal. But I'm ready.
DEE: Are you sure?
TOADIE: Yeah, I promise to be a lot more smooth this time...
DEE: You're cute.
TOADIE: Cute?! I'm not cute! I'm a virile, sexy man!
DEE: Yeah? Prove it!
He picks her up in a fireman's lift and carries her off!
Harlow is trying to be cool in her car.
Toadie and Dee come in, kissing. He lifts her on to the table.
HENDRIX: Hey, guys!
They look up in shock.
TOADIE: Mate...what are you doing here?
HENDRIX: Making brekkie.
TOADIE: And you're doing that here, because...?
HENDRIX: Oh, Karl and Susan said I should make myself at home.
HENDRIX: Six months ago?
TOADIE: You don't think that they meant that for while you were living here...?
HENDRIX: They didn't put a finish date on it.
DEE: How did you...get in?
HENDRIX: Oh, they never asked for their key back, so...
The oven rings and Hendrix pulls out his hash browns.
TOADIE: You'll be heading off, now, right?
HENDRIX: Where to?!
DEE: To your house...where you live.
HENDRIX: Oh, nah. Dad and Chloe are being all in love and stuff. Just going to hang out, eat some food. You won't even know I'm here.
Toadie and Dee look at each other, incredulous.
DEE: Right, I might...uh...get changed out of my uniform then.
She goes off to the bedroom. When she's gone, Hendrix offers Toadie a hash brown(!)
Lassiter's hotel, later that day
Toadie has been trying to book a room for him and Dee, but apparently the roof-top pool is very popular and they're fully booked. Toadie says they're not teenagers, and they should just go back to his place.
DEE: Are you sure you're comfortable...having me there?
TOADIE: Honestly, I didn't know I was, until I just said it. And I am.
DEE: It's a big step.
TOADIE: Yeah, I know. We said that we were going to make a go of this. So if that's the case, I want to be able to take you home with me. I want to wake up next to you, in my own bed.
DEE: I want that too.
TOADIE: So, let's do this.
They smile at each other.
Harold's Café (outside)
Mackenzie is studying law at a table. She tells Dipi that she has a small gift for her and Shane as a thank you for a good birthday and letting her stay with them.
At another table, Ned tells Yashvi that his commission has fallen through. He's determined to be more pro-active at finding work from now on.
Harlow has texted Hendrix to join her at her car. She tells him she's taking him for a joy-ride. He thinks she's gone mad, because she doesn't even have her license.
HARLOW: I don't want you to get bored of me, OK?
HARLOW: We're so different, Hendrix.
HENDRIX: So? That's what makes us great together!
HARLOW: Yeah, it does now. What happens when you can legally do what you want and I just want to stay at home? I've already lost my mum. I really don't want to lose you too.
HENDRIX: You're not going to lose me!
HARLOW: How do you know?
HENDRIX: One of the reasons I think you're so rad is...you know exactly who you are, and you're not afraid to be that person. No matter what.
HARLOW: ...except for now.
HENDRIX: This doesn't count. You're grieving...your judgement's off.
HARLOW: Yeah, maybe.
HENDRIX: Harlow, I don't want to date myself. One Hendrix in a relationship is already enough to handle. I want to date *you*. The nerdy, book-loving, terrified of getting in trouble, Harlow. OK?
HENDRIX: OK, now tell me something only Harlow would no, because I'm not convinced you're not an alien(!)
Toadie and Dee are kissing on the sofa. Toadie starts unbuttoning her top and suddenly Dee starts to cry.
TOADIE: What wrong, have I done something?
DEE: No...you haven't done anything!
TOADIE: We can stop...we don't have to do anything, I'm just happy to be with you...
Dee cries some more.
TOADIE: Dee? What's...?
DEE: Just give me a minute.
She goes off to the bathroom leaving Toadie looking very worried.
Outside the Coffee Shop
Shane arrives and tells Dipi that he's seen Grant. His back has been completely wrecked for months - he's out of work and broke. Apparently Grant's boss lied to the inspector to avoid a fine. Shane says they have to help Grant somehow, but Dipi doesn't think they should get involved.
Dee has come back from the bathroom.
TOADIE: Are you OK?
DEE: I'm fine. I'm sorry for...killing the mood back there.
TOADIE: No, no, please, don't apologise. I should have realised that it would have been weird being here. I don't want you to feel like we're doing anything wrong. Like you're disrespecting Sonya...
DEE: I don't. I don't. If you feel comfortable here, then I do.
TOADIE: OK. Then, what, is it me? Did I rush you...?
DEE: Oh, God, no! You didn't rush me into anything! I'm, I'm not upset...
TOADIE: OK...so those were tears of joy, were they?
DEE: Yes! Yeah. I have dreamed of being back in your arms ever since I was torn away from you. And for seventeen years, I thought that was impossible. Look at us now. Here we are! Same place, same house, feeling the same way about each other. I finally get to have you back. And yeah, it's overwhelming.
Toadie nods, happily.
TOADIE: Yeah, it *is* overwhelming!
TOADIE: Do you want to slow down?
She kisses him passionately.
