Following their kiss in the kitchen, Toadie asks Dee...
TOADIE: Was that okay?
DEE: No... Yes, it was okay. I mean, it was... that was fantastic. It was just unexpected.
TOADIE: I've been wanting to do that all day.
DEE: Oh. So it wasn't just the ruby chocolate talking?
The oven alarm goes off, to tell them the fish is ready, interrupting their moment.
TOADIE: What should we do?
DEE: I suppose we should eat it while it's hot?
TOADIE: ... I meant afterwards.
DEE: ... I've cleared my schedule. You've got me all day.
Toadie looks pleased.

Kyle is cleaning the outdoor table, while Sheila talks to Gary the Pigeon. She suggests to the pigeon that it could go to see Elly in prison!
SHEILA: It'd be easy for you to do a bit of a flyover!
Sheila laments to Kyle that she's run out of biscuits to give the pigeon. Kyle expresses doubts that biscuits are very good for the pigeon!
KYLE: Look at all the heavy-duty cargo he's dropping everywhere!
SHEILA: Yeah, good point. Gary's cholesterol was never the best.
Sheila resolves to ask Dipi for tips about some healthier options. Kyle looks concerned. Sheila then gets a message from Jessica, asking if they're going to the grief group tomorrow. Kyle doesn't express a view, and Sheila asks if he and Jess have caught up since their liaison. He admits they've been messaging one another, but he's just taking it slow.
SHEILA: Well, don't push, love. You'll know when you're ready.
KYLE: Exactly.
Lassiter's
Terese, Paul and Pierce are having a meeting about the reopening of the refurbished rooftop pool! Paul wants to have a launch party to celebrate; Pierce points out that it's winter, but Terese suggests it should be a 'soft launch' which seemingly overcomes this obstacle! Paul starts talking about influencers and DJs.
PIERCE: This is Erinsborough, not Bondi! We should be targeting families.
PAUL: Who have oppressive mortgages, and certainly won't bring in as much money as cashed-up millennials with no kids.
PIERCE: Families are more reliable, more loyal, and most of all, they're on brand.
PAUL: Yeah, and the brand is dull - and I don't want that for this pool.
Terese tells them that she has somebody in mind to organise the launch, but is cagey about who. She closes the meeting.
As they're packing up, Pierce tells Paul that Harlow has left some textbooks at his place, and mentions her deciding not to pursue psychology anymore. Surprised, Paul denies this, saying Harlow's very committed to psychology. Pierce suggests otherwise and advises Paul to check in with her, then leaves.
PAUL: I thought Harlow and I were in a good place again.
TERESE: I'm sure there's an explanation.
PAUL: Yeah, well it'd better be good.
TERESE: I might just speak to her first.

Dee is making chocolate mousse, while Toadie checks his emails; Aaron has sent him a contract to look at which means he'll have to go into the office after dessert. Dee feels bad that she's been distracting him, and offers to accompany him to help out with some filing and photocopying. Toadie is keen, and agrees to take her out for a meal afterwards.
They hold hands, and look into each other's eyes - but at that moment, Shane and Dipi come in, and Toadie and Dee quickly separate. They go to eat the mousse in the garden, Dipi having declined the offer to join them.
Once they're gone, Dipi remarks to Shane about the thickness of the atmosphere between Toadie and Dee; that's why she didn't agree to join them. Shane wonders if this means Dipi has decided to follow his advice about not sticking her oar in as regards Toadie and Dee's relationship; she tells him not to get used to it.
Lassiter's Complex
Terese tells Ned she wants him to be in charge of the rooftop pool launch. He says that would normally be Chloe's department, but Terese says she doesn't want to put Chloe in the middle of Paul and Pierce's conflicting ideas for the launch. Terese says she wants both Paul and Pierce kept out of it, and trusts Ned to do the job.
Ned has reservations, having never done anything like this before, but Terese reassures him it's only a 'soft launch' - plus she can tell he's not that interested in the front desk work he's been doing. If it goes well, they can consider making Ned permanent pool manager.
NED: Okay. I just don't want to let you down.
TERESE: I have complete faith in you.
As Ned walks off, Harlow turns up with Hendrix; she's come to meet Terese at her request. Terese asks about Harlow dropping psychology; Harlow explains she's not really interested in it anymore after everything that happened with Finn. It's too late to change subjects now, but she does want to change career paths.
Terese suggests Harlow talk to Paul about it; Harlow knows Paul will be upset because she told Pierce before him, but Terese says he'll get over it.
TERESE: He just wants to be part of your life.
The Waterhole
Shane and Roxy are having a conversation about the pub roster. Shane doesn't want to take too many shifts away from The Casuals™, but Roxy remarks that 'casual is overrated', clearly thinking of herself and Kyle, and says they need people who can commit.
At this point, Kyle and Sheila come in; Sheila asks Shane where Dipi is, so she can talk to her about 'adjusting Gary's diet'. While Shane talks to Sheila about the roster, Kyle is left with Roxy.
ROXY: Did she just say 'Gary'?
KYLE: It's a pigeon in our backyard. Gran's taken an interest in it.
ROXY: She named the pigeon after Gary? That's sweet! As long as she doesn't actually think it's him!
KYLE: ...
Lassiter's Complex
Toadie and Dee are on their way to the office. Dee remarks that Shane and Dipi seemed keen to make themselves scarce at home. Toadie suspects they thought they'd walked in on something; Dee points out that they had! As Dee goes to fetch them some coffee's from Harold's, Kyle approaches, having seen Toadie and Dee briefly holding hands.
However, when Kyle asks Toadie whether there's something between him and Dee, Toadie says he doesn't know what he and Dee are, exactly.
KYLE: Well, I get it can't be easy, you know, moving on after Sonya. But good on ya, mate.
TOADIE (conflicted): ... Thanks.
The Waterhole
Sheila tells Roxy that she'll be ducking out of work tomorrow to attend grief group. Roxy asks casually if Jess and Kyle will be there. Sheila thinks so, and still unaware of what's happened between Kyle and Roxy, admits that there appears to be something going on between Kyle and Jess.
ROXY: That's nice (!)
SHEILA: Yeah, I was nervous about it to begin with. But she understands what he's been through, and I think that's what he needs right now. And she's very attractive.
ROXY: Jess is awesome, got it - great, thanks (!)
Dipi comes in from the shops - at Sheila's request, she's bought a load of pellets, grains and seeds for Gary the Pigeon! She's also bought some wood, which Sheila explains is for the bird box she's going to build the pigeon to sleep in. Even Dipi looks a little perturbed at this. Roxy overhears all this, and approaches Sheila when Dipi's gone.
ROXY: Did I just hear that your son's a bird now?
SHEILA: Yeah! Unbelievable, isn't it?
ROXY: Yeah, that's one word for it! How do you know that?
SHEILA: A mother always knows.
Roxy looks concerned.
The Sonya Wall
Toadie has been picking up some papers from the community centre, when he passes the Sonya Wall on his way back to meet Dee. He stops and looks at the mural sadly. Kyle turns up.
KYLE: Toad, hey (...) I put you on the spot earlier, didn't I? About Dee and Sonya.
TOADIE: No, no. Well, I mean, yeah, you did. But it's good to think about that kind of stuff. I do need to figure out whether I am ready to move on from Sonya.
KYLE: I've started seeing someone myself. Seeing's a bit of an overstatement. We hooked up once. And I like her, but... I dunno. Just, after Dad, I dunno if it's the right time. And I just don't know if I'm ready for anything at all.
TOADIE: Yeah, I don't know if there ever is a right time, mate.
KYLE: What are you thinking?
TOADIE: Well, up until recently it wouldn't have even crossed my mind, but, umm... I think now I realise that I am open to the possibility.
KYLE: Yeah? What's changed?
TOADIE: Time, maybe. Or the right person, probably. I dunno, I... I haven't even spoken about it with Dee yet.
KYLE: Think you should?
TOADIE: Yeah, probably. I dunno - maybe the only thing you can do in these situations is just go with your gut.
Lassiter's
At reception, Ned is on the phone to Yashvi, telling her about his new task overseeing the pool launch. Pierce comes in, and Ned hangs up; Pierce wants to talk about the launch.
PIERCE: Have you ever done any event planning before?
NED: Uh, helped organise my grade six disco!
PIERCE: Well, it's not quite the same as that, is it?
NED: No.
Pierce offers to help, and is keen to push his angle of a family-friendly event, with games and an open-air cinema for kids.
NED: We could get a band that does kids' music.
PIERCE: Yeah, great. Although, we don't want Karl to volunteer.
NED: No.
But Ned thinks a DJ might be in order, and starts scribbling a list of ideas, as Pierce heads off.
Rebecchi Law
Toadie is recording a voice memo, saying that the documentation Claudia has given to Aaron 'seems fairly straightforward, but further investigation needs to be made'. Dee is helping out with the files and photocopying, as she offered.
TOADIE: Hey, I'm wondering if we should probably talk about what happened earlier (...) the kiss, and what it meant for us.
DEE: Ah. So this is the talk.
TOADIE: I think it's time. Don't you?
She nods, a little nervously.
The Waterhole
Paul comes in, with Harlow and Hendrix. Paul denies he's annoyed about Pierce finding out about her change of career plans before he did, but admits it was a surprise. He says the issue is about Harlow and her future - but is quickly distracted when he sees Ned working nearby, and goes to talk to him.
Paul asks Ned why he sent an email to all staff asking for tips on kids' DJs. Ned admits it's for the pool launch, and Paul quickly guesses Pierce has been in his ear.
PAUL: Ned, this is supposed to be a sexy event, filled with hot young people - not swarming with parents and their noisy children (...) We want to attract millennials with disposable incomes, and they like to go where the beautiful people are. So how about inviting them, eh?
Hendrix and Harlow have been earwigging, and pipe up.
HARLOW: You can't organise a party based on how people look!
PAUL: If you work in marketing, you most certainly can!
HENDRIX: It's a stereotype!
PAUL: You know what? You can suck up to my granddaughter in your own time, thanks.
Paul carries on rambling on at Ned, reiterating that he should make the launch 'sexy'.
Rebecchi Law
Toadie and Dee are having 'the talk'.
DEE: So, you said that you wanted to kiss me all day, and I've felt the same - except, for months. Ever since last time.
TOADIE: Yeah, this isn't just a physical thing for me.
DEE: Well, there's so much history between us, that's never going to be the case.
TOADIE: To be honest, it's actually the history that's got me scared. We were just kids when we first got together, and so much has happened since then, for both of us. We are just very different people now.
DEE: Jarrod, you are still the same boy I fell in love with. In lots of ways.
TOADIE: Well, I lost the mullet.
DEE: Yeah, we all make mistakes. But you are kind, and loving... generous.
TOADIE: And funny, and handsome.
DEE: Yep, okay - you can pull it up right there.
TOADIE: Ow!
DEE: But I do think that... Look, there's so much we don't know about each other. I find that rather exciting.
TOADIE: Yeah, okay. Umm, except we do live in two different states.
DEE: I was wondering if I could pick up a few shifts at the hospital (...) which would mean moving here (...) If it's too much too soon, I understand.
TOADIE: Under normal circumstances, I would say that it is too much. But what we have isn't normal, is it?
Dee shakes her head.
TOADIE: Move here. Let's explore it.
DEE: ... You're sure?
TOADIE: Yeah, I am. If you are!
DEE: Very!
TOADIE: Okay!
DEE: Okay!
TOADIE: What now?
DEE: Kiss me again.
TOADIE: Yeah, alright!
He does. They pash.
Lassiter's
In the foyer, Ned is updating Terese on the conflicting instructions he's been getting from Paul and Pierce.
NED: Both of them are adamant that their idea is the best one.
TERESE: Yeah, well, welcome to my world!
She's not particularly sympathetic, saying that she put Ned in charge, not either of them - he should make his own decisions about the launch, and if he can't handle it, she'll have to find someone else. Ned insists he can handle it. As Terese leaves, both Paul and Pierce turn up from different directions, and smile at Ned. Ned walks off in a third direction!
Lassiter's Complex
Kyle is outside the pub, when he gets a text from Jess, suggesting they go for a 'cheeky breakfast' tomorrow. He looks conflicted. At this point, Roxy turns up and asks to talk about Sheila.
KYLE: Let me guess - the pigeon thing?
ROXY: Yeah. You call it a thing, I call it a psychological issue.
KYLE: I get it's weird, but it makes her feel better.
ROXY: She thinks Gary is a pigeon! I'm really worried that she might need some professional help.
KYLE: Going along with it is what I've been told to do.
ROXY: Okay, by a doctor?
KYLE: ... By Jess (...) she's gone through a lot in the last few years.
ROXY: I get she understands. But 'going through a lot' doesn't give you a medical degree.
KYLE: Gran's getting what she needs out of it.
ROXY: That's crazy.
KYLE: Rox, what's crazy when you're grieving?!
ROXY: I don't know! Maybe thinking that your son has been reincarnated as a pigeon?! Or maybe hooking up with Jess is, too!
Roxy walks off.
The Waterhole
Shane and Dipi are discussing Ned's promotion at the hotel; Shane's wondering if he's on more money. Dipi asks if it matters; Shane says it's not much of a promotion otherwise.
Toadie and Dee come in, holding hands, and Dee says they're here for a dinner date. Shane tells them to enjoy it, as does Dipi, albeit more ambivalently. Once Dee and Toadie are out of earshot, Shane remarks that Dipi doesn't seem that enthusiastic about their relationship.
DIPI: I understand Toadie has to move on, but I -
SHANE: You just don't want it to be with Dee.
DIPI: It's not that.
SHANE: Then what? He's in a better headspace now (...) and they're adults. And Sonya would be happy for them.
DIPI: I know that.
SHANE: Then there's no problem, is there?
DIPI: I suppose there's not.
No 26
Kyle is practising cooking one of Gary's dishes, presumably for work - he's stressing about whether it's right, but Sheila tells him he's overthinking it. There's a knock at the door; it's Roxy, who's brought round the pub roster for Sheila. Sheila takes the opportunity to show Roxy her design for Gary the Pigeon's bird box! Roxy is bemused.
When Kyle notes that there's a cold snap coming, Sheila wonders about knitting a jumper for the pigeon, and leg warmers! As Kyle continues to encourage Sheila, Roxy looks increasingly disbelieving.
ROXY: You're enabling her! (To Sheila) It is so unhealthy for you to obsess over this pigeon. It doesn't need a jumper or leg warmers. It doesn't need anything, because it's not Gary!
SHEILA: ... Excuse me.
Looking upset, Sheila leaves the room.
KYLE: What did you do that for? I told you not to say anything.
ROXY: She's sounding insane - someone had to say something!
KYLE: No, they didn't. Roxy, this is none of your business. Just stay out of it!
ROXY: She needs help, Kyle.
KYLE: She's getting help!
ROXY: From who, Jess?
KYLE: Oh, you know what? At least Jess is sensitive! You have no idea how much pain Gran is in right now. That bird means everything to her! You should go.
ROXY: Kyle -
KYLE (shouting): No, I'm serious, Roxy! Get out, and leave us alone!
