Number 22
Paul is still very peeved at what he sees is everyone ganging up on him. He isn't getting any sympathy from his wife either as she's seen this story played out many times before - him being at war with his children before he learns.
Number 28
There is still tension in the air between Karl and Susan as they plan their day around Aster and making sure Elly sees her daughter. Karl then remembers that Susan was meant to be meeting Angela Lane and asks how it went. She replies that the meeting didn't go ahead but refuses to elaborate why and instead rushes into the bedroom to get dressed.
Number 30
There appears to be a competition between the residents to see who has the biggest day ahead - Toadie has already left for the office (away before Dipi was even up), while Yashvi moans that the academy are adding more to her already packed schedule and even Shane is moaning about how much Uni work he has to do. Mackenzie wishes her schedule was busy too, and since she wants to have a legal career, Shane suggests that she speaks to Toadie to see if she can help him and get some experience at the same time.
Number 24
"I respect your respect," Hendrix says after Harlow explains why she ignored the message he sent saying to sneak into his room (she didn't want to disrespect Pierce by sneaking around) when she surfaces to join the family for breakfast.
Pierce reports to his son that he was right about the background of the company that put in an offer for the island. Chloe thinks that JMK want to recreate what happened to them there. "That's disgusting," Harlow remarks and Pierce confirms that they are going to reject the offer. It appears someone else has put in an offer (one reason why JMK are being rejected) although Chloe isn't sure if it is "better or worse!"
Weiler & Perkins Lawyers
Sam confirms with Claudia that she is just about ready for the custody hearing but could accelerate the process if Claudia thinks Aster is in harm's way.
Number 28
Karl hands a sleeping Aster over to Claudia when she drops by unexpectedly. Subtly she asks how things are going and Karl replies that they are managing. Next, again trying to be very subtle, she asks how Susan is doing after Paul had to help her. This of course is news to Karl, so she tells him about Paul finding Susan having some sort of meltdown and having to bring her home. Karl is very professional though and doesn't get at all riled up, simply agreeing with Claudia when she suggests Susan kept quiet so not to worry him.
CLAUDIA: Why else would she keep something like that from you?
Erinsborough High
Susan's phone starts ringing just as she is leaving the school premises and when she finds out the caller (Karl) cancels the call! Before she can leave, Mackenzie stops her for a chat, but she goes all round the houses instead of coming to the point... and then Susan cuts her off as she has to take a call from the department.
Lassiters Brasserie
Over a coffee, Aaron and David update Pierce and Chloe over how things aren't progressing getting Paul to sell his stake in The Shed. Paul spots the quartet chatting as he comes out of Harold's and when he gets nearby, engages in a spot of 'eyeballing' with David before walking off. "Awkward much," Chloe says to David, but he is standing firm on his threat to Paul.
Claudia replaces Aaron and David and thanks them for considering her offer - turns out that she is the one wanting to buy the island. Chloe and Pierce want to know why she wants to buy it and her explanation is that she wants to turn the place into "something meaningful out of what happened" by establishing summer camp "for disadvantaged youth" in memory of the buddy club idea Shaun had. The pair more than like what Claudia is saying and will get back to her with a decision.
Harold's Café
Harlow and Terese catch up with one another after her first night in #24, hoping that Paul will come to his senses soon and the lass can move back home. The lass isn't going to be won over very easily especially as she is still bitter about him not handing in her assignment like he promised. After seeking that Harlow won't repeat it, Terese lets Harlow know that Paul did visit the school and goes onto tell her what happened and why he didn't hand the assignment in. Harlow seems a bit more remorseful now that she understands what did happen.
TERESE: The thing is about your grandfather is that he does care, a lot, and sometimes he does show it in a good way like he did with Susan.
HARLOW: Mmm, and sometimes in a ridiculous maddening way like he does with me?
Erinsborough High
Susan isn't too impressed to see Karl (and Aster) appear at the school. He explains that he is there because she keeps ignoring his calls and demands to know why she cancelled the meeting with Angela Lane. Karl refuses to say who told him, so Susan blows a gasket and tells him that she doesn't need his help nor him ambushing her either at work.
SUSAN: Go home... please.
(Later)
Hendrix enters the classroom and spots Harlow (and Mackenzie) looking nervously at their phones. Harlow reveals that she just sent everyone a text to meet at lunch "to fix things." "Don't stress, we'll sort it out" he reassures her with and asks Mackenzie what is bothering her. She reveals her annoyance at not being able to pin Susan down for a conversation about her subject choices and her post school plans including when to have her "gender affirmation surgery."
Mackenzie will be 18 in a few weeks so could have the surgery then but is worried about the amount of time she'd need off and then how long it would take to complete Year 12. She really doesn't want to do Year 12 over 2 years but equally doesn't want to wait an "exhausting" year to get the surgery done. Harlow reassure Mackenzie that they are there, whatever she decides to do, but thinks she should speak to Susan too. Hendrix agrees and adds in that he is sure there is things the school can do to help too. "That's what I'm hoping," Mackenzie replies back but adds that given how stressed Susan appears, she doesn't want to bother her. Harlow senses a pattern here and reminds her friend what happened when she didn't talk to the Rebecchi's! "Fair point," Mackenzie concedes and nods her head when Harlow strongly tells her to talk to Susan.
The Waterhole
Paul, Terese, Chloe and Pierce have arrived to join in the 'peace talks' with Harlow and Hendrix. Harlow begins by apologising to her grandfather, since she now knows why her assignment wasn't delivered, and that "moving out may have been a bit of an over-reaction" too however she does make it clear that she doesn't like how he has been treating her. Paul admits he might have over-reacted too and apologises to her, before confirming that he is "open for discussion" to sleepover arrangements after Terese asked if it was back on the agenda. Chloe asks the pair what they want, and they can then "take it from there." She is then shocked (as is Paul!) when Harlow suggests 4 nights a week before they finally agree to 2 nights a week.
The Greyson's conveniently depart for other things to do, so Paul suggests that the trio order some lunch, but Harlow has other ideas...
HARLOW: I was thinking we could grab something to stop me from getting pregnant. I need birth control.
It's a good thing Paul wasn't eating as he'd have probably chocked judging by his shocked reaction! When they then start talking about options, it looks like he wishes he was elsewhere too! Terese volunteers to take the lass to see about an implant but she wants Paul to take her, much to his surprise!
HARLOW: To demonstrate that you respect my choices, I'd like you to come with me to the appointment.
Again, despite wishing something else was coming out of his mouth, Paul agrees to go with Harlow. She does though agree to move home tonight, which pleases both Terese and Paul.
Once Harlow heads back to school, Terese wants Paul to reconsider refusing to sell his shares in The Shed. Paul is standing firm though, because it is Pierce he is selling the stake too and "does not want to do any more business with that man that I have to."
PAUL: End of discussion!
TERESE: Fine, but I'm warning you, if you don't make some sort of compromise, you can end your relationship with David while you're at it.
The Shed
With Terese's words ringing in his ear, Paul drops by The Shed to talk to Aaron and David. David hopes he is there because he's changed his mind about selling. Paul begins by apologising for being rash and not listening to the pitch "with more consideration." He then admits that he is uncomfortable with Pierce being a partner in The Shed, so has an alternative proposal - if Aaron does the paperwork and the associated fees, Paul will gift his share of the business in full.
AARON: Are you serious?!
PAUL: Mmm. I'd rather see you own this place outright, than run the risk of kowtowing to yet another stubborn business partner.
Aaron and Paul shake hands on the deal although David still looks bitter and tells his dad that he isn't yet ready to forgive him over how he treated them.
DAVID: Throwing your money around doesn't excuse your behaviour.
PAUL: I know it doesn't.
DAVID: We're your family. It wouldn't hurt to occasionally put us first.
PAUL: Well, if it's any consolation, that's the reason I'm about to see a gynaecologist.
Lassiters Complex
Susan almost loses her newly purchased coffee when she almost runs into Shane as she hurriedly exits Harold's to go take Aster to see her mum. Dipi asks that she passes on their wishes as she hurriedly goes to leave the complex but is then held up when Angela Lane calls. You can tell that Susan doesn't want to have this conversation and refuses the request to meet face to face.
Mackenzie picks the wrong time to attempt to have a conversation with Susan and receives a rant about selfishness from her Principal... all witnessed of course by Claudia who was walking through the complex!
Musical Montage
Over 'What you mean to me' we see Mackenzie being led into the café by the Rebecchi family (Yashvi is there too). Meanwhile Paul waits for Harlow as she finishes up her appointment with the gynaecologist at the hospital. It is celebration time at The Shed as Aaron cracks open a bottle of bubbles to celebrate that the business is going to be all his now, with some clients.
Number 28
Susan looks somewhat shell-shocked when she arrives home and tells Karl (after he asked) that she lost her temper with Mackenzie.
SUSAN: She just wanted to talk to me, and I lashed out. I don't know what came over me.
Karl asks if the lass is okay and an exasperated Susan replies back that she "has no idea" because she left but assumes that "she's probably devastated." He pleads with her that she "needs to rest" and that it is happening "because you're overwhelmed and exhausted" and has to stop her from going back out the door to find Mackenzie.
Karl is trying to get Susan to put her feet up for five minutes when they then receive a visitor - Claudia who doesn't even knock before barging into the house! She has a go at Susan for "humiliating" Mackenzie and Karl tries to defend his wife, saying she is under stress.
CLAUDIA: Your wife's inability to deal with stress is really not my concern, my granddaughters' welfare is.
SUSAN: What are you implying?
CLAUDIA: You're an unfit carer Susan and this is no place to bring up a child! My lawyer is calling an emergency meeting.
KARL: What for?!
CLAUDIA: I'm going to lodge an interim parenting order for Aster, and it will take effect immediately.
