- Toadie is furious to see Roxy wearing Sonya's wedding dress on today of all days. He tells her she's making a joke of her memory and tells her to take it off!
Mark leaves Harold's cafe with a drink of water for Toadie. Toadie sits with his head in his hands, while Kyle, Shane and Dipi are with him. Toadie's embarrased for exploding like that. He shouldn't have taken it out on Roxy. Roxy brings Sonya's wedding dress, explaining that she took all the staples out and she'll dry clean it. She apologises, she didn't know the dress wasn't for the promo. Toadie apologises, he shouldn't have taken it out on her, it was an accident.
Number 26/Back Yard
We see Gary feeding his pigeons. He then comes inside and tells Sheila about all the cleaning he's done in preparation for Prue coming to stay.
SHEILA: Spruce yourself up Gary!
GARY: I will do, once I get the house a little more inviting.
SHEILA (sternly): It's my house! What's not inviting?!
GARY: I wonder.
He asks Sheila to help with his barbecue later. Sheila isn't impressed that he's interrupting her 'supermarket catalogue time' and now wants to chain her to the kitchen for Prue. Gary knows she isn't her favourite person, but he'd appreciate her being nice.
SHEILA (sternly): I'm always nice.
Gary assures Sheila that Prue has left the order and she wants to make things right with Harlow. He asks Sheila to keep an open mind. Sheila does not look impressed.
Terese invites Gary in to see Harlow. Terese sits with Paul on the sofa, while Gary explains he's on his way to pick up Prue and asks if Harlow wants to tag along. Harlow doesn't care, she doesn't want to see her. Gary invites Paul and Terese to his barbecue, but they'll maybe just check how Harlow is first. Gary leaves, while Paul asks Harlow how she is. Terese assures Harlow she doesn't have to do anything she isn't comfortable with. Harlow wasn't planning to.
Kyle checks on Roxy, joining her outside the Waterhole. He says he loves Toadie, but he wouldn't want him screaming in his face. He thinks she handled herself well. Roxy can't believe she was strutting her stuff in front of him in his dead wife's dress. Kyle says Toadie knows she didn't do it on purpose, and he won't hold a grudge. Roxy asks if he's going to Gary's barbecue, but he isn't keen after the way Prue treated Amy, Harlow and Gary. But he can't bail, Sheila would have an aneurysm if he left her there on her own.
Pierce invites Hendrix out for a bike ride. Hendrix would rather not. Pierce asks how things are going with Harlow. Hendrix doesn't get it, she was good with him at the pub and now she seems to be ghosting him, which has never happened to him before. He isn't sure what to do. Pierce says he's over thinking it.
Toadie has come around to collect Hugo and Nell from Karl and Susan, telling Karl and Susan about what happened with Roxy. He wishes he hadn't brought the dress to Terese in the first place. Toadie won't stay, but Karl suggests he should talk, it's a very significant day. Susan asks what he wants to do for Sonya's anniversary, but he just wants to spend the day with the kids. He goes to lead the kids out, Karl whispers to Susan that he shouldn't be alone on a day like this.
Harlow is looking out the window for Prue returning. Paul recognises that it's a strange feeling wanting to see someone you love but wanting to kick yourself for it. Harlow says it's Prue she wants to kick, and give her a hug straight after. She doesn't know if she can trust her. Terese says if they decide to go to the barbecue, she and Paul will stay with Harlow the whole time. Harlow gets a text from Hendrix. Harlow says she's been avoiding him. Paul thinks that's an excellent strategy. Terese asks Paul to get her another cup of tea. With Paul gone, Terese asks Harlow to talk about it, and if she enjoys spending time with Hendrix. Harlow doesn't have the brain capacity to deal with that right now, especially with her mum coming. She really wants to believe her this time, she just hopes she's not here for Gary.
Yashvi tells her parents that she wants to hold a memorial for Sonya. They explain that Toadie doesn't want to and they can't force him. Yashvi thinks that's unfair as they all want to remember her. What about Karl, Susan and Mark, he was her best friend, and suggests they do one without Toadie. Yashvi apologises, she realises how bad that sounds. Shane isn't sure if Toadie would be okay with that or offended and Dipi isn't sure how they could find out without being intrusive. Shane takes out his phone, he knows the person for the job.
Harlow is standing at the bottom of her driveway, waiting impatiently. Hendrix approaches her, asking if she got his text. She explains her mum is coming. He asks if she wants to talk it out, or just play video games. Harlow smiles, thanking him for the offer, but maybe another time. Hendrix wishes her luck with her mum. Harlow and Hendrix take a moment before heading back into their houses.
Karl and Susan come by. Hugo rushes to the door to say hi to them, as they enter. Karl takes Hugo and Nell outside to play hide and seek. Susan tells Toadie that she spoke with Shane, and they would like to do something today to remember Sonya. They think it would be great for him and the kids to come. What happened earlier was so upsetting, she doesn't want that experience to be what he takes away from today.
TOADIE: Okay, every time Nell goes up a level in reading, or Hugo does something cute or Karl goes on about his flaming durians, Sonya's not there to laugh or even smile and I don't need to be reminded of that any more than what I already am.
SUSAN: Wouldn't it be nice to be reminded of the times when she was there? Sweetheart, Nell's only 7. She needs to have those memories reinforced so they don't disappear.
Susan hugs Toadie
Prue and Gary arrive home, Prue is pleased to be back. They check but Sheila is out. Prue and Gary start kissing, when Harlow walks in. Prue hugs Harlow, as Gary takes her luggage to the bedroom. Prue realises Harlow is still angry at her. She says she's sorry for everything and she promises to make it up to her.
Paul and Terese stand at the end of their driveway looking over to the Canning house, hoping Harlow isn't upset by talking to Prue. Sheila joins them and they all chat about Prue and Gary. Sheila says she wouldn't trust Prue as far as she could throw her, expressing concern for Harlow. Terese thinks it could be a new beginning for them. Sheila says she'll be sneaking round the back.
SHEILA: Have you two been invited to this... 'welcome to the weirdo' barbecue?
PAUL: Yes, sadly.
SHEILA: I'll save you a stiff drink.
Sheila heads inside. Paul reminds Terese that Prue tried to emotionally blackmail her. Terese says she was focusing on the order back then and she clearly wasn't thinking straight.
PAUL: You know what... 'I'm in a cult' isn't exactly the best defence.
TERESE: Yeah well, we just have to focus on being supportive, for Harlow's sake.
Harlow asks Prue if she's really left the order. Prue realised that Harlow is what matters to her most, not them. She apologises for ignoring Harlow's emails over the last few months. She says Gary happened to contact her the day she left the order, she doesn't know how she's ever going to repay him. Prue assures Harlow she's here for her, she knows Harlow has her life and her family here, but she desperately wants to be part of it. She asks to start again.
Toadie looks at Sonya's friendship tree. Shane asks if Toadie's ready to go. Kyle asks if he's ready to remember this and not this morning's mix up. Toadie agrees as they head in and join the others. Karl, Susan, Dipi, Shane, Yashvi, Mark, Kyle, Toadie, Nell and Hugo all sit in the rotunda. Toadie thanks them all for coming today. He didn't organise anything as days like today are still hard. He just wanted people to share their favourite memory of Sonya. Susan says she'd catch Sonya looking at her kids with this look of pure love. Dipi says Sonya never had a bad thing to say about anybody. Mark says Sonya was generous and kind, but it was a fierce friendship that he misses the most, she would do anything for you. Toadie says he wouldn't get through today without their support, it means more than words can say. Sonya is going to live on in all their hearts. Nell asks if they can blow bubbles, so they all leave and blow bubbles. We see a montage of the group all blowing bubbles, smiling together.
Hendrix tells Pierce why Harlow hasn't talked to him much. She's been stressed about her mum coming back. He understands getting weird when your mum does a drop in, he's happy waiting until she's ready to talk. Pierce says that's very mature of him. He offers Hendrix a high five, Hendrix tells him not to ruin it.
Kyle and Sheila are getting condiments for the barbecue, when Gary walks in and hears them.
SHEILA: Put the other one in the cupboard love, I don't want to waste the good stuff on her.
GARY: If you're trying to be subtle you both suck at it.
SHEILA: We're not being subtle. We're being busy with your barbecue.
Gary tells them off for hardly saying anything to Prue, and tells them if they can't be nice, they should at least keep their voices down. Sheila thinks providing food and her home for a barbecue is being nice. Kyle says Prue did dump Gary, and Sheila thinks she'll do it again. Gary, exasperated, tells them to suit themselves.
Susan tells Toadie it was a lovely afternoon, Toadie thanks Susan for talking him into coming. He says he'll let Terese put Sonya's dress on display. Pierce approaches, asking Toadie if he'd be able to join them on the island for Elly's birthday, he'd like Toadie's opinion on the fishing on offer. Toadie sounds keen to catch a mulloway (which is the holy grail of fish for a Rebecchi.) He says Sonya would want him to have a catch, well a catch and release of course. Toadie agrees, count him in.
Paul, Terese, Prue, Gary and Harlow are gathered around the living room, Prue thanks them all for coming as she hasn't given them reason to think the best of her. She won't let Harlow down again. Prue sees Terese with a soft drink, telling Terese good on her for keeping on top of the 'tipple trouble.' Roxy arrives saying hi to 'Prue baby' as Prue greets 'poxy Roxy' and gives her a hug.
Kyle and Sheila are in the kitchen. Kyle wonders why they're here. Sheila says because Gary insisted, but she doesn't know what he sees in that dipstick. They invite everyone in for some food. Prue tells Sheila that Gary is the kindest, gentlest, most selfless man she ever met and Sheila has a lot to be proud of.
PAUL: I actually think you too are quite well suited.
TERESE (quietly): Paul!
PAUL: No, no, I mean it. Something about the combination between the two of you.
PRUE: I love hearing this sort of thing. Why do you think we are so well matched?
TERESE: No, you don't want to hear his opinion.
PRUE: No, I want to hear from Susan too, the celebrant.
GARY: She's actually school headmaster most of the time.
PRUE: You mean on top of doing weddings?
Sheila wonders why she's curious about Susan. Prue keeps mentioning weddings. Harlow asks Prue what's going on. Prue says she's not doing a good job at covering this. Prue announces that they're engaged. Everyone looks shocked.
