Finn reminds Shaun of the meeting with Toadie, just as Toadie arrives. The guys go out the back, while Bea and Elly chat about what has happened. Elly is worried about stuffing it up. Elly tells Bea she saw Mark earlier and it was awkward, it feels wrong being happy while he is so down. Elly doesn't know what to do about it.
Mark explains to Aaron that leaving is his only choice right now, but he is going to miss everyone. Roxy reverses fast out of her driveway, almost knocking Mark and Aaron over.
ROXY: You again? Great! Are you going to be weird with me?
MARK: Hello!! You almost reversed into us!
Roxy drives off. Aaron comments on the post- break up tension. Mark tells him that Roxy tried to talk to him earlier and he fobbed her off. She doesn't know he's leaving, but there's a lot Mark wants to say to her. Aaron says he won't get a chance if he doesn't tell anyone he's going. Mark doesn't want to make a fuss or explain his reasons over and over again. Aaron jokes that Mark should leave post it notes on everyone's letterboxes. Aaron says if he doesn't tell everyone he's going then he'll probably regret it.
Paul asks Scarlett what she was doing on the 7th floor, it's off limits. Scarlett says she was getting a client's medication which was left there when he changed rooms. Paul continues to question her, while Ned walks in briefly. Paul seems to accept Scarlett's excuse, and tells them both to get back to work.
Ned and Scarlett take the lift down to the lobby. Scarlett tells Ned that she gets the feeling that Paul and Terese want to fire her. Ned thinks they're too busy worrying about the building to think about much else. He notes that this repair work going on is strange. Ned suggests Scarlett schmooze Paul and Terese a bit to get in their good books. Scarlett asks for Ned's help, and in return she'll buy him all the beer he can drink while he does. Ned agrees.
Shaun tells Toadie he'll be back in four weeks, so they can launch Buddy Club a week after that. Toadie says as long as they agree to the conditions he's set, but Finn says he understands why he can't play a role in this. They shake hands in agreement. Toadie leaves to talk to Ned about his community service, as Bea rushes after Toadie. Bea asks him how Yashvi is, blaming Scarlett for what happened. Toadie thinks its strange that Ned would go there. Bea asks Toadie to talk to Ned about it.
Mark looks around the house, packing a photo of him with Aaron and Tyler into a box. He packs a framed memorial to Caitlin. Finally he looks at a picture of him and Elly.
Toadie gives Ned details of his community service job for tomorrow for the foundation, an over 80s meditation class.
TOADIE: Just a word of warning, some of ladies think you are the finest thing that they've seen since Montgomery Cliff.
NED: Objectified by octogenarians, that is all for the cause I suppose.
Toadie tells Ned that Yashvi is doing it tough, and she thinks something is going on between Ned and Scarlett. Ned says there isn't, but Toadie wonders if Scarlett is intentionally giving Yashvi that impression. Ned assures Toadie that nothing happened, but he thinks it is a maturity thing. Ned asks Toadie to look after Yashvi.
Bea wonders if she did the right thing by asking Toadie to talk to Ned. Elly decides to clear the air with Mark.
As Mark heads for his car, he tells Aaron and David that he has already said his goodbyes. They ask how that went. Mark says he doesn't know yet. Aaron looks confused, Mark says it will make sense soon. He tells them he needs to hit the road before dark, but he needs to make a stop before he goes. He hugs them goodbye and drives away. Aaron sees a post- it note on his letter box and goes to read it. David asks what it says.
Paul shouts at Roxy, obviously angry about the empty whiskey bottle he's looking at. Ned offers him to join him and Scarlett at the Waterhole. She wants to impress Paul. Paul says three would be a crowd, he has seen the way Scarlett looks at Ned. Ned assures Paul that Scarlett had nothing to do with his break up with Yashvi. Scarlett arrives in a dress, and passes Ned a post it note she found on the letter box. She trips on the stairs and falls into Ned's arms. He reads the note from Mark, but has no idea what its about, passing it to Paul. Paul doesn't know what its about either, but comments that other things are far more obvious. Ned and Scarlett head out.
Aaron and David are loading their laptop in their back yard. They read the post- it note which simply tells them to check their email. They open a video from Mark. He's talking to the camera from his couch.
MARK: G'day. If you're watching this, it means that I've left Ramsay Street, as in for good.
Kyle watches the email on his phone from his garden.
MARK: I know its usually better to do this sort of thing in person, but the truth is, I don't trust myself to hold it together. But I couldn't leave without telling you all how much you mean to me.
Toadie watches the video with Nell and Hugo from their kitchen.
MARK: You were one of the first people I met when I was sent to Erinsborough. At the time I had no idea how important you would become in my life.
Paul watches from his living room.
MARK: If someone hadn't have pushed you off a balcony, I might have never become part of this community.
Roxy is in the #22 kitchen watching it on her phone.
MARK: You can party like its nobody's business and you don't need to change that for anyone, but also know that you are so much more.
Ned is sitting outside the Waterhole, watching the video on his phone.
MARK: We never really hit it off, and I reckon I know why. In a lot of ways, we're similar. We would do anything to protect the people we love.
Scarlett brings Ned a drink. Meanwhile Kyle is watching from his garden.
MARK: I wish you and Amy every happiness. Look after your gran, I'm sure she'll be looking after you.
MARK: And without you, I almost certainly would never have met Kate.
To Toadie, Nell and Hugo.
MARK: Despite our differences, we will always be connected through our memories, and Sonya.
MARK: I am so sorry, that I made you doubt yourself, because you're amazing.
Paul watches from over Roxy's shoulder. Roxy smiles, telling Paul that he thinks she's amazing. Paul smiles. We then cut to Aaron and David watching Mark, who is starting to get teary.
MARK: I was never more proud than I was the day that you guys got married. You will always be my brothers, both of you, nothing will ever change that.
Elly, and Bea watch from their house.
MARK: Elly, we weren't meant to be, but that doesn't mean I don't treasure the time we had together. You are going to be a fantastic mother, and this baby is blessed to have you. Wherever life leads you, I wish you nothing but the best.
Elly and Bea cry as they watch. Elly tells her she can't let him leave like this, she has to find him.
Roxy asks David and Aaron when Mark decided all this. David says it was in Adelaide, he applied for a transfer and he's renting his house out. Roxy says the last time she saw him she almost made him roadkill. Elly rushes in asking where Mark is. They tell her she probably won't catch him, but Elly says she needs to find him. Aaron says Mark wanted to go somewhere before he left, he didn't say where, but he could probably take a guess.
The Waterhole Exterior
Kyle talks with Ned about Mark's video. As Scarlett heads inside, Kyle notices the look Scarlett was giving Ned. Now that its sunk in that Kyle is with Amy, he thinks Scarlett has set her sights on Ned. Ned thinks it is too soon after Yashvi. Ned says things were rough with Scarlett's ex, and asks Kyle to keep an eye on her. Scarlett returns with a drink as Kyle heads off. Ned tells Scarlett that he's not in the market for anything right now. He says Scarlett is beautiful and is such a great friend but its too soon after Yashvi. Scarlett assures him that she isn't coming onto him. She says she's still messed up after the whole Rex situation, she assures him she's just looking for a friend. He asks for them to keep it to work hours from now on, so no one gets the wrong impression. Scarlett agrees, but she says she won't have work hours if she doesn't sort things with Paul and Terese, so asks Ned for his advice. Ned goes to the bathroom first. As he leaves, Scarlett looks angry.
Mark is standing by Sonya's friendship tree, then looks over to the rotunda where Kate was killed. Elly rushes over, glad she caught him. Elly says he said everything she always wanted him to say to her, but she wanted to tell him a couple of things herself. She asks if he's leaving because of her. Mark says it is for a lot of reasons. His mum needs him and Tyler needs him, and he needs them too.
ELLY: Just know I have nothing but love for you. I know that things didn't work out between us, but I still really care about you, what scares me the most is the thought of us becoming strangers.
MARK: I don't want that either.
Elly asks Mark to promise that if they see each other again in the future, that he won't look the other way. Mark promises.
ELLY: You mean too much to me Mark. Never stop chasing your dream of having a child. I know one day when you find the right person, you'll make an incredible father, and the baby will be so lucky to have you.
Mark notices that they're standing next to their love locket on the bridge. Mark wonders if in the future two young lovebirds will stumble across it and wonder who Elly and Mark were.
ELLY: Well if the history books say anything, I hope it says this. When we were good, we were good.
MARK: Yeah, we were.
Ned and Scarlett return to her house. Ned tells her that Terese loves a protégé. Scarlett loves women who empower other women. Ned says if she can get Terese on side, she'll have her back with Paul. Ned checks about what he told her earlier, Scarlett says its fine, she doesn't want people getting the wrong idea. Suddenly a brick is thrown through the window, broken glass smashing onto the ground. Aaron rushes in after hearing the noise. Scarlett begs Ned not to leave her, while Aaron rushes outside to check. Ned picks up the brick, on it is a note which reads 'You're mine.'
SCARLETT: That's Rex's writing. He's here, he's definitely here!
