- But on his way to meet Yashvi, Ned sees Bea and Finn kissing and is taken aback
Power Road
Outside Grease Monkeys, Bea tells Ned that she and Finn only got together last week; it 'just happened'. Ned is unimpressed, and accuses Finn of manipulating Bea all over again.
BEA: It's not like that. Somebody broke into our house, and Finn saved me; and then, one thing led to another.
Ned doesn't understand and is keen to know more about this break-in. Bea is cagey, not wanting to drop Yashvi in it; but Finn ends up telling Ned what happened with the dark tour. Bea chimes in, saying Finn was the theme of the tour. Ned is confused; he thought Yashvi's tour was about art. But Bea corrects him, and explains how Alfie was over-invested in the tour and broke in.
BEA: Look, Ned, can you just... please don't tell anybody about us.
NED: Keeping your secrets is the least of my concerns right now.
Ned walks off, leaving Bea and Finn looking worried.
Lassiter's
Yashvi is still alone in the hotel room, and is leaving Ned a voicemail.
YASHVI: Me again. Just... stalking you now. I was checking if there hasn't been a mix-up, and maybe you thought we were meeting somewhere else? Because that would be bad.
As she finishes, a text message pops up from Ned, which simply reads, 'Can't make it. Call you tomorrow.' Yashvi looks crushed.
The Waterhole
Chloe invites Elly to lunch. Elly's hesitant because of the saucy dream she had and, like nobody ever, declares this immediately to Chloe.
ELLY: I know you said you're cool about the whole dream thing, but I -
CHLOE: Hey, I'm just honoured to have played a starring role! It's all good. So is that a yes for tomorrow?
ELLY: Midday?
CHLOE: Lock and load! See you then.
Chloe looks excited as Elly leaves. Meanwhile, Yashvi has come in, and takes a seat at another table. Shane, who is working, approaches - he notices she's been crying.
YASHVI: Don't ask questions - just give me the biggest piece of chocolate cake you have.
SHANE: You're crying - what's happened? Where's Ned?
YASHVI: He cancelled on me (...) He didn't give an explanation. Please don't make a big deal out of this.
SHANE: He shouldn't be treating you this way, Vee.
YASHVI: He would've had his reasons. I just need some comfort food and my own bed.
Shane goes off to fetch said food, while Yashvi continues to look devastated.
Lassiter's Complex
The following day, Toadie is giving Dee a tour of the complex; she says it's a good way of keeping her mind off things. Toadie asks if she's made any decisions about Heather and Andrea; Dee says she needs to get her head straight first. Toadie reminds her there's no right or wrong way to deal with it. As they arrive outside the café...
DEE: I just can't believe how much this place has changed! Oh - I'm so glad they called it Harold's!
TOADIE: Yeah. You'd be surprised how many of the young'uns say, 'who's Harold?'
DEE: What?!
TOADIE: Yeah.
DEE: Blasphemy!
She looks over at The Waterhole.
DEE: Lou's Place - aww, Lou!
TOADIE: Oh, don't 'aww, Lou' me! He's living it up in Brisvegas, back together with his teen sweetheart! But mind you, for all I know, him and Kathy could be killing each other.
DEE: What happened to the bridge? ... Oh, well - we'll just have to pretend. Come on!
She takes Toadie's arm, and they skip across the crap new bridge/walkway thing together.
DEE: Why are we skipping?
TOADIE: Because skipping's fun!
Afterwards, they hold hands and smile at one another. Pierce walks by, acknowledging Toadie.
TOADIE (to Dee): Good to see you smile again.
DEE: Feels like a long time since I have.
Harold's Café
Dipi is serving Karl at the counter. They get talking about Dee and Toadie's tour of the neighbourhood, and Pierce, who is in the queue, mentions that he saw them outside; not knowing any better, he refers to Dee as Toadie's girlfriend. Once Pierce has gone, Dipi remarks at how ridiculous that idea is, but notices Karl reacting differently.
DIPI: Unless you know there's something going on?
KARL: No, I didn't say anything!
DIPI: Karl?
KARL: Susan may have expressed some concern to me. In the cone of silence, of course.
DIPI: Toadie is just trying to help her.
KARL: Yeah, I know. The concerns were a little bit more about Dee. It's a very emotional time for her, given what she's discovered about her past.
DIPI: Well, should we be worried about them spending the day together?
KARL: No, I think worry is too strong a word. No, but - we need to let Dee know that we're there for her, not just Toadie.
DIPI: ... Maybe we should do that sooner, rather than later.
No 32
On the patio, Kyle is teasing Aaron about his scantily-clad lawnmowing for Mrs Punt following the bachelor auction.
KYLE: What do you reckon, you'd take her name when you get hitched? You'd make a fine Punt!
Chloe emerges, wanting the boys' advice on which earrings to wear for her lunch with Elly. She decides that one pair of earrings will allow her more 'swish'.
KYLE: It's lunch with a mate. Why do you need 'swish'?
But Chloe has decided neither pair of earrings is adequate, and disappears back inside. Aaron looks worried that his plan to reunite Chloe and Elly as friends might be leading to something more...
The Waterhole
Ned is at a table, looking troubled, when Shane comes over.
SHANE: Funny. Thought you'd be at ours, asking my daughter to forgive you.
NED: ... I'm sorry that I let her down.
SHANE: Doesn't sound like an explanation.
NED: Look, it's a long story, okay? Something happened.
SHANE: What, you got a better offer? That makes it alright then, doesn't it? (!)
NED: It's not like that, okay? I found out... it's between me and her.
SHANE: You had plans, and you left her hanging, by herself in a hotel room. How's that supposed to make her feel?
NED: I'll sort it out with her, okay? You have my word.
SHANE: You'd better.
Rebecchi Law
Toadie and Dee's tour is continuing at the law office. Dee seems very impressed with how well Toadie's done for himself - but makes a beeline for the wrestling figurine that's on one of the shelves!
DEE: Who's this?
TOADIE: Have you forgotten about my mild obsession with wrestling?
DEE: Mild?! Like, you mean, every Friday night?! Pizza ordered, trousers off?
TOADIE: Do you realise how wrong that sentence sounds?
DEE: Only to the uninitiated. It's like, from the House of Trouser to the House of Respectability. My, you have come far.
TOADIE: Respectability? Never!
DEE: No, seriously. You've come such a long way (...) Come on, your own law firm. It must feel good.
TOADIE: ... Yeah, it does feel pretty good, actually!
DEE: Yeah, that's more like it.
TOADIE: Alright. So, where to now, eh?
DEE: Hmm. I thought maybe we could make our way over to The Flametree? Work our way up to the two-for-one lunch special?
TOADIE: ... Have you been talking to Steph Scully?
DEE: Maybe just on the phone for three hours, last night. Okay, four!
TOADIE (laughs): Spruiking her own business when she's not even here - that's smooth!
However, at this point, Toadie and Dee each receive a text message, from Karl and Dipi respectively, inviting them to lunch at No 28. Toadie says they'll have to do The Flametree another day; Dee reluctantly agrees, but looks disappointed not to be spending more one-on-one time with Toadie.
Lassiter's Lake
Yashvi is out with the footy when she runs into Ned.
NED: Yeah, you probably want to kick that in my face right about now. I'm sorry about last night. Something happened, and I had a hard time getting my head around it.
He explains he knows about Yashvi's Finn Tour, and Alfie, the obsessed guy who broke in at the Kennedy house.
YASHVI: So this is why you stood me up last night?
NED: Partly. I was angry. And I found out that Bea and Finn have been seeing each other on the sly. And Bea didn't want me to say anything, but... I don't want to keep secrets from you. And I'd appreciate it if you didn't keep secrets from me, either.
YASHVI: Are you saying I deserved to be ditched last night?
NED: No, Vee - but that tour, something awful could've happened to Bea.
YASHVI: Oh, of course this is about Bea!
NED: No, it's not like that.
YASHVI: No, you're upset that she's with Finn now - it all makes perfect sense. You want to know why I didn't tell you about the tour? Because I knew that Bea would always come first! And if you knew I put her in danger, even accidentally, you wouldn't think twice about dumping me! (...) I have liked you for *so* long. Maybe even loved you. But I'm not gonna be second prize. Not for anyone.
She marches off.
Lassiter's Complex
Aaron pesters Pierce about why he wasn't working out at The Shed this morning. Pierce implies he's not in the right headspace, so Aaron tells him that the best way of getting over a break-up is to get the body more tired than the brain.
PIERCE: Well, your sister hasn't really helped with my motivation (...) I asked Chloe out, but she didn't want a bar of it (...) She couldn't have been less interested. Anyway, it's my problem, not yours.
Pierce walks off, just as Chloe turns up, in a glamorous dress. Aaron queries whether she is making too much of an effort for a friendly lunch, and remarks that he knows she turned down a date with Pierce.
CHLOE: Oh, wow, it's the latest smartphone! Now they walk and talk as they track your every move!
AARON: Chlo, I wanted you and Elly to be just friends. Just friends. But this? This looks like a whole lot more than that. I thought you were into Pierce?
CHLOE: I was.
AARON: Right. So, now you're going to go and chase Elly again? Are you serious?
Chloe tells Aaron all about the sexy dream Elly had about her, as if this explains everything.
AARON: Ugh, Chlo!
CHLOE: My feelings for Elly haven't changed. Maybe I just want to see where things go.
She heads into the café to meet Elly, despite Aaron's protests.
The Waterhole
Ned is buying a bottle of champagne from the bar. As he leaves, Finn and Bea come in. Bea asks if Ned is celebrating something.
NED: Yeah, actually - I finally figured something out. I don't have to worry about you anymore.
BEA: Ned, please - we just want to be able to tell people about us in our own time.
NED: You got it. See, I finally figured out that I allowed this to affect me and Yashvi, and I shouldn't have, so...
FINN: So you're not gonna say anything to anyone?
NED: No. What you guys do with your life is your business. I'm gonna focus on mine.
Ned leaves, just as Aaron arrives, looking for Mark who's at the bar; he needs to tell him something.
AARON: It might be nothing, but, like, if something happens, I just -
MARK: Spit it out.
AARON: Umm... it's Chloe and Elly. They're having lunch.
MARK: Yeah. I told Elly yesterday I've got no problems with them being friends.
AARON: Yeah. Chloe might be hoping that it might turn into something more than that. And Elly may have indicated to her the same.
Mark looks angry, and rushes off.
Harold's Café
Mark storms in to find Elly and Chloe having lunch, and asks for a private word with Elly, taking her aside to the privacy of the drinks cabinet.
MARK: The ink on our annulment is barely dry.
ELLY: So?
MARK: We are not going down this road again! You've already done enough damage to my family.
Chloe gets up and interrupts.
MARK: I know that this is not just friends hanging out.
ELLY: What?
MARK: You absolutely crushed my sister, and me. And now you want to lead her on again?
CHLOE: Mark, stop - please.
ELLY: Okay - for your information, I have no intention of hurting Chloe. But also, who I hang out with now - it's none of your business.
Elly leads Chloe back to the table, while Mark simmers.
No 28
Toadie and Dee have arrived for dinner, where Karl is serving up a gourmet banquet of... hash browns.
KARL: I buy them in bulk. Far more economical than café prices.
Dipi comes in, and immediately starts acting shifty, going to pains to explain that the lunch isn't a formal thing; she says it was both hers and Karl's idea to have a 'spontaneous neighbourly catch-up' to give them a chance to chat to Dee.
Karl takes Dipi to the privacy of the other side of the room, where he tells her she's being too transparent - she needs to stay cool. Dipi apologises, saying she's just worried. By the time they return to the table, Toadie and Dee are laughing about the time Karl won $7,000 but lost the scratchcard.
DEE: On the subject of you being a cheapskate. I mean, no offence Karl.
TOADIE: Yeah, you know - we love you for it, though.
DEE: Back up. How did you... end up with the ticket on your bum?
Toadie and Dee continue to laugh about it, while Karl and Dipi exchange a worried glance.
Harold's Café
Elly and Chloe are having fun at their lunch, not having let Mark's interruption affect things. Chloe thanks Elly for standing up to him; she replies that Mark needed to be put in his place. Elly holds Chloe's hand.
ELLY: I've really enjoyed spending time with you again. As friends.
CHLOE: Umm... Maybe I'm about to make things super-awkward. Ever since you told me about your dream, I've been thinking... maybe there is something between us?

There's a long pause, as Chloe looks hopeful, and Elly awkward.
ELLY: Umm...
CHLOE: Wow. Classic Chloe clanger! We've just had a lovely lunch, and I have to go and ruin it.
Elly takes her hand again.
ELLY: No - okay, the truth is, right... I have so much to focus on right now, and dating, it doesn't even come close to being on my agenda.
CHLOE: And only a grade-A moron wouldn't realise that!
ELLY: I don't know what that dream meant, or if it meant anything at all. But I know I've missed you.
Chloe smiles.
Lassiter's
In a hotel room, Ned has the champagne on ice and has sprinkled rose petals everywhere. There's a knock at the door - it's Yashvi.
YASHVI: Better not have called me up here just so you can dump me.
He shows her in, and she sees the effort he's gone to.
NED: I know I don't deserve it. But give me a second chance?
YASHVI: You're not still angry about the tour, and what happened to Bea?
NED: When it comes to making dumb decisions, I think I've already won that prize.
YASHVI: What about Bea and Finn?
NED: Good luck to 'em. I mean it. I am not gonna waste any more time thinking about them.
Placated somewhat, Yashvi moves over to the bed, and Ned follows.
YASHVI: Seriously, though - did you have to make the room smell like my grandma?
NED: What?!
YASHVI: She used to wear this rose perfume. Not that that's a bad thing; it's just, there's other things I'd rather have on my mind when I'm in a hotel. I'm a freak, aren't I? No other girl would complain about this.
NED (laughing): Yes. Well, no other girl's gonna be getting an invitation. So I think we're good.
They kiss.
NED: I love how you always say what I'm not expecting.
And again.
NED: And I love how you make me feel when I'm with you... You really hate the roses?
Yashvi nods, so Ned shakes the petals off the upholstery, and they fall through the air in front of Yashvi...
No 28
Conversation at dinner has turned to what Dee's future plans, as they all politely eat the hash browns; Karl asks if she's thinking of taking up hospital work again, but she hasn't decided. Dipi says it would give her something to focus on, which would be good. But Toadie says there's no hurry, and Dee says it's hard to make decisions when things are still up in the air with Heather and Andrea.
DEE: I need to start thinking about it. Maybe you and I could take that walk? Have a chat.
TOADIE: Yeah. Absolutely, yeah. I could definitely walk away from that hash brown!
The pair swiftly prepare to make an exit from the awkward lunch; Dipi apologises if she's been pushy, but Dee says it's good to think about these things - she's been putting it all in her journal and she has Toadie to bounce it off. Toadie and Dee leave.
DIPI: See? She couldn't wait to spend more time alone with him.
KARL: Let's not get ahead of ourselves, alright? (...) None of us know what's in Dee's mind. So let's just leave it until we do, yeah?
The Waterhole
Mark, Pierce, Aaron and Kyle are all at the bar, most of them moping. Mark is admitting he overreacted to Elly and Chloe's lunch, and says it was more about him than looking out for Chloe.
MARK: Cos I've got form, haven't I? I'm the guy that turns women into lesbians.
Aaron suppresses a laugh and it comes out as a snort. Mark gives him a look.
KYLE: Well, you know what's a bigger hit to the ego? When your ex hooks up with your old man.
PIERCE: Well, I don't think I can compete with either of those. Sounds like I've well and truly missed the boat with Chloe.
KYLE: (...) Well, you're not the first bloke to make that kind of mistake. If your ship sailed, Kyle's is lost at sea.
We pan away from the moping blokes to Bea and Finn, who are at a table. Bea admits she's been freaking out all day about their secret relationship; she thinks they can trust Ned and Yashvi, but it's only a matter of time till someone else finds out.
FINN: What are you saying?
BEA: I think we should tell Karl and Elly about us, tonight.
Finn looks very sheepish.
No 28
Karl leaves to call Susan to ask after her treatment, reminding Dipi as he goes to stop obsessing about Dee. She agrees, and says she'll lock up behind her; but once Karl's gone, Dipi heads straight over to Dee's journal to have a snoop. She reads, concerned...
DEE (voiceover): There are so many things I made myself forget, Toadie. The butterflies I get when you walk into a room. How safe you make me feel. And what I made myself forget, most of all, is the future that we had planned. Am I crazy, Toadie? Is it possible, after everything that's happened, there might still be a chance for us?
Dipi looks worried.
