Albury super prison
Paul is confused by Harlow's claim that she is Robert's daughter, because he doesn't have any kids. Before she is willing to answer any more questions, she wants to know who everyone is and after David introduces himself, she points out that Robert has never mentioned him before. "Because he never knew I existed," David replies, today was the first time they'd seen each other.
Harlow does know who Paul is though (after looking him up) and David asks if her mum and Robert are close? "Robert's not close to anyone," Paul replies, and Harlow explains that her mum and Robert met while backpacking and had a fling.
AARON: Did Robert know about you all along?
HARLOW: Well, Mum didn't realise she was pregnant until she got back to the UK, and she'd already lost his email. She didn't bother looking him up until I started asking questions, and by then, he was already in here.
David would like to meet her mum and Harlow explains that she's in London, and that she travelled here by herself. Aaron is surprised her mum is "cool with all of this?" "Obviously," is the blunt reply Harlow gives!
For the most, Paul has been silent during the exchanges, however he is curious to know if Harlow knows what her dad did?
HARLOW: Yes, we've been writing to one another.
PAUL: Really? And, yet, you still wanted to come.
HARLOW: As you can see.
Police station
Mark explains to Heather that she's been denied bail and is going to be transferred to Goodwood Prison, where she'll stay there until her sentencing. She is curious to know where Andrea is, and Mark explains she's at Goodwood Prison already but warns her against "a family reunion" as she will be in a different block on a different schedule.
HEATHER: No, they can't keep me away from her! I'm her mum!
MARK: Oh, it's too bad, isn't it?
Before she goes, she pleads to see Dee but is told a very blunt "no" from Mark! She then pleads to see Toadie but receives the same blunt reply from him.
Number 32
After she rants off at him about her aunt, Leo suggests that if Roxy hates Terese that much, she should "just stop talking about her, cut her out of your life and move on." Given the briskness of his reply, she asks why he is in such a mood, so he explains about messaging David to ask how visiting Robert went and got sent a two-word reply - 'it didn't' and nods confirmation when Roxy comments that he's in the bad books!
Albury super prison
Harlow returns from talking to the guards and it would appear Robert isn't seeing any more visitors today, they've to try again next week. After asking where the lass is staying (a motel), David invites her to #32 until she can see her dad.
HARLOW: I barely know you.
DAVID: True, but it is our fault that you're in this predicament.
PAUL: (annoyed!) David!
AARON: (aiming to peeve Paul off!) And we would love to have you.
PAUL: (peeved!) Oh... Will you be reasonable? We just met this girl.
DAVID: Harlow's family.
PAUL: Oh, and what proof do we have of that, hey? I mean, how many flings has her mother had?
HARLOW: (to Paul) You don't hold back, do you? Look, I don't have DNA evidence or anything, but that's my mum's number. You can give her a call, you can ask whatever you like.
Paul isn't too amused at her mum's name (Prudence but she prefers Prue) and since Harlow is going to be staying with Aaron and David, she asks for their ID's too! Aaron laughs and has no issues showing her his ID and adds in that she is "a smart girl."
HARLOW: If I can't spend time with my father, a pair of uncles will be a nice consolation.
DAVID: Well, we'll take that.
Number 30
Over a beer, Mark explains to Toadie that they've interviewed Andrea several times about Roger Zantuck and are satisfied that she really didn't know the depth of his connection to organised crime. Toadie isn't forgiving though because "Dee still paid the price" however acknowledges "there's no point going over the what-ifs of it all."
Getting personal, Mark asks how he's feeling about Dee? "Her diaries help me understand her better," Toadie replies and is thinking about inviting her back so they can fully talk about things properly. "For what it's worth, I think Sonya would agree," Mark says and adds in for Toadie's information that Heather's been denied bail. "Oh good," Toadie replies but isn't too impressed at Mark already vetoing him seeing Heather after she asked to see him as "Dee's got some questions about her" although he hates "the idea of Heather causing more damage."
MARK: One thing at a time. You should reach out to Dee.
Byron Bay
As soon as Mark said that last sentence, Toadie as straight out with his mobile phone texting a message to Dee but her expression is very neutral when she looks at her phone.
Road somewhere
Aaron is driving David and Harlow back to Erinsborough and the lass is curious to know why David wanted to see her father. "I'm writing a thesis on psychopathy," he replies and had hoped Robert would agree to be a case study. He thinks he might have offended Harlow, hearing "someone accuse your father of being a psychopath."
HARLOW: I know what he did to those people. I mean, it's not like the thought hadn't crossed my mind.
AARON: You know what? You're actually handling this way better than I thought.
Harlow tells them that her mum "says I'm good in a crisis," after thanking them for the compliment. She then tries to piece together the family jigsaw by asking if Robert wasn't aware of David, she's surmising he "didn't grow up with Paul, either?" Answering her question, David tells her that he (and his brother Leo) only met Paul a few years ago. To much hilarity from the guys, Harlow asks if Paul is "always that rude?"
DAVID: I wouldn't judge Paul based on what happened back there.
AARON: Yeah, look, he can be complicated, and he's scary sometimes, but he actually means well.
DAVID: He's definitely got his ?aws, but if he loves you, he'll do anything for you.
Number 22
Paul is back from Albury and Terese asks if he saw Robert. "Briefly," he replies before adding that they didn't speak and that Robert "cut the visitation short as soon as he saw me." "Are you okay?" she asks (yes) before going on to tell her about Harlow and her claim that she's Robert's daughter. "Is that possible?" Terese asks and Paul is unsure but plans to call her mum for confirmation.
TERESE: What are you hoping she'll say?
PAUL: I'm hoping she's going to say it's some deranged prank and that this Harlow is just some sick teenager who likes hanging out in prison waiting rooms.
TERESE: Would that be so bad?
PAUL: Terese, you know, I've spent all of these years trying to forget about Robert. But if she is his, then... I can no longer pretend that he doesn't exist.
When Terese heads upstairs to bed, Paul gets out his mobile and calls the number Harlow gave him.
Harold's café (next day)
Dipi is still peeved that despite being locked up, Heather is still after favours, rather than being remorseful and plans on going to see her to give her what for! Shane is staying out of it, but equally is fearful that his wife might do something so is relived that Susan agrees to accompany her.
Number 32
Harlow surfaces and comes though the kitchen to see more of her family (Leo, Amy and Gary) and David does the intros to everyone.
AMY: Welcome to the family!
"Are you all Robinson's?" the lass asks and learns that while they are all "Paul's children" they have different surnames.
HARLOW: Is there a spreadsheet someone can send me?
That gets a laugh out of everyone until Roxy arrives into the kitchen demanding to know what the deal is there by asking Leo:
ROXY: Did you bring home an Amish chick by accident?
DAVID: Uh, this is our niece, Harlow. Harlow, this is our housemate, Roxy.
"Charmed," Harlow replies back while the girl's eye each other up before Roxy opens the bottle of bubbles, determined to get a party going!
Number 22
When he finally surfaces, Paul confirms that Harlow's story checked out. Prue was in Tasmania when Robert lived there and emailed (as proof) a photo of the first night they met, which doesn't seem to have been doctored. Terese seems an awful lot happier at Paul having a new granddaughter than the man himself does!
TERESE: She's not Robert, Paul. She lives on the other side of the world. She hasn't even met him.
PAUL: Yeah, I know, but they have been writing to each other, and I can't imagine what she must think of me.
TERESE: Yeah, well, I'm sure she'll change her mind once she meets you - if you give her the chance.
And that chance would be starting right now as Ned answers the door to David, who tells him that accompanying him is Harlow and she's here to talk to Paul.
HARLOW: Are you related to me?
NED: Not that I know of.
HARLOW: Oh, thank heavens.
They formally do the intros as Paul and Terese come through from the kitchen and Terese introduces herself to the lass. Harlow seems somewhat surprised when Terese said that Paul's told them a little bit about her "but he was hoping that you'd tell us more." "If you are up for it," Paul adds quickly after Terese said that first part.
Police station
Heather is led into the interview room expecting to see Toadie and instead is very disappointed to see Dipi and Susan. "He's not coming," Dipi explains and that they are there "to talk about Sonya." Heather isn't exactly jumping for joy at the topic of conversation and rubs Dipi up when she nonchalantly commented that "it's terrible what happened to her."
DIPI: (irate) You are what happened to her!
Heather gives up on Dipi and instead asks Susan how she can get in touch with Dee, she has "to get in contact with her."
DIPI: (even more irate!) Do you even feel an ounce of responsibility for what you've done?
Again, Heather simply ignores the rant and goes on instead about how alike Andrea and Dee are when they aren't related. Turning to Susan, Dipi comments that coming "was a mistake," and you can see Susan seething when Heather asks if she is the only one that cares before again demanding that Toadie comes to clear this up.
Eventually, in her teacher voice, Susan tells Heather "that's enough."
HEATHER: Jarrod is a reasonable man. He knows I didn't kill Sonya.
SUSAN: The drugs you gave Sonya masked the first symptoms of her cancer. You stole her only chance to fight.
HEATHER: No, you can't blame me for that.
SUSAN: No, Heather, it's your turn now to listen. You and Andrea are responsible for every terrible thing that's happened to that family. Your daughter stole time they could have had to be happy. You... You stole a mother from Nell, and a good mother from Hugo, and you stole the love of Toadie's life. So, you can throw your little tantrums and you can make your absurd demands but know that no-one is listening. No-one is coming to help you, least of all Toadie. We came here because we loved Sonya, and we always will. Do you think anyone's going to remember you?
Number 22
Its question and answer time for Harlow and Paul, beginning with how many kids he has (seven) and if they stay in the area. "No," he replies and explains that Elle lives in New York and that Andrew's living in Berlin. She confirms that she knows what happened to Cameron and apologises to him for his loss 13 years ago.
Given she is in town for the next few weeks until she flies home, with #32 being a bit crowded, she asks if he'd let her move into #22? Paul isn't too sure she really wants to move in, especially after what Robert is likely to have said about him, but the lass would prefer to "form my own opinion" of her grandfather. He thinks that is possible, which Terese readily agrees to and suggests she takes Roxy's old room.
As Terese was suggesting where she could sleep, even though Harlow would have been fine enough with the couch, Roxy slipped into the house and isn't at all amused to hear that her room was given away! With a face like thunder, she silently creeps back out of the house without anyone realising that she'd been there.
Harold's café
Shane is hearing all about the ladies' trip to the police station over a cuppa. "I have to admit, it was very satisfying," Susan declares even though she then adds that she wanted to strangle Heather "when she refused to take any responsibility for what happened to Sonya." Shane thinks they both did Sonya and Toadie proud but Dipi wonders whether they should tell Toadie of their visit? "No," Shane thinks although is sure that Toadie will be "glad you two put her in her place, but I don't think he needs to hear about her again."
Ramsay Street
When he spots his brother arrive home, Leo apologises for letting the cat out of the bag about meeting Robert to Paul. He explains he did so because "I was worried about you" after the pressure Paul was exerting about foster kids.
Just at that, Paul exits #22 and conveniently spots his sons outside #32 and explains that he's heading over to collect Harlow's things after the lass decided to move into #22 while she is in town. "Does she still want to see Robert?" David asks and Paul replies it's unfortunately yes before adding "I don't like it, but unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it." Paul also asks for David to not include Robert in his study.
PAUL: You have to understand what he did to the Bishop family. I mean, there are people on this street who grieved for them, and it's unfair to open up those wounds.
David is in full agreement now that he knows the full story, so he is "dumping the whole thing" and in hindsight, wishes he'd asked his dad about it before.
PAUL: Let's put Robert behind us and let's focus on making Harlow feel welcome, hey?
Number 30
Toadie is on tenterhooks as Dee is about to visit, even worrying if the shirt he is wearing is okay on him!
TOADIE: I don't want it to look like I'm going to too much effort, but I also don't want it to look like I'm a slob, either.
MARK: You're all good, mate. okay, good.
Mark can feel how nervous Toadie is, remembering how he felt coming out of witness protection and saw Kate. "This is completely different," Toadie thinks as he was "still in love with Kate."
MARK: Dee was your wife, and however you are feeling right now is completely understandable.
TOADIE: I'm so scared, I might spew on the sink!
MARK: Toad, listen to me. Hey, you've got this. You're going to be okay, yeah?
The Waterhole
Paul asks Harlow where she is in her schooling (mid A-Levels) and then if she is missing school, she isn't as the lass is on her school holidays.
While grandfather and granddaughter continue getting to know each other, Terese heads to the bar to get their water bottle refilled where she runs into Roxy. Roxy wants to talk to her but before she even gets past saying her aunt's name, Terese bluntly tell her to not say wherever it was she was going to say.
TERESE: I am having a lovely day with Paul and his granddaughter, and I don't need you ruining it with your crude jokes and your accusations.
"Yeah, well, have fun with Murder Baby," Roxy just about yells out to make sure her aunt heard it as well as the rest of the bar's patrons! Thankfully it would appear nobody paid attention, or they've all got selective hearing, as Terese simply returns to the table and it would appear the conversation hasn't been interrupted one bit at their table and every other table in the bar!
Number 30
At last Dee arrives so Toadie can stop wearing out the carpet with his incessant pacing! "Hi, Toadie," she greets him with, and he compliments her on looking great before eventually remembering his manners and letting her into the house!
Dee takes a good look around the house when she's shown inside and Toadie continues the small talk by asking how the flight was.
DEE: It was good, yeah. A lot less eventful than the last one!
TOADIE: Yeah, how did you keep Heather distracted? I'm guessing the drinks trolley, right?
DEE: I see you've kept your sense of humour.
TOADIE: Not so much lately.
Both then go to talk at the same time, such is their nervousness, before both then go very quiet before Dee closes the gap between him and gives Toadie a huge hug.
DEE: Toad... it's so good to see you.
(taking his hands out of his pockets and returning the hug)
TOADIE: You too.
