- Andrea recalls the name of the Salamanca Markets man in a hypnosis session with Karl - it's Ian
- Mark tracks down the Ian in question
- Andrea begs Toadie to let her come along to meet Ian, and he eventually agrees
- Ian says he knew a Karen who looks like Andrea, but lost contact when she moved to South Africa
- Toadie, Shane and Susan now seem convinced that Karen is none other than Dee
- Later, at her apartment, Andrea tells Ian that she needs to find a way back into Toadie's life
- Paul buys Vance's racehorse for Terese, unaware that it's stolen
- When Terese finds out it's stolen, she tells Vance to break up with Roxy and leave Erinsborough
- Vance asks Terese if this is about Roxy or her; she says 'get over yourself'; he has a week to leave
Roxy and Vance are playing chess. Terese and Paul decide to head upstairs for an early night, which gives Roxy the same idea.
ROXY: And maybe play a new game in the bedroom!
Terese rolls her eyes. Roxy heads upstairs after Paul, leaving Terese and Vance alone downstairs.
TERESE: You seem very relaxed for someone who's leaving tomorrow.
VANCE: Yeah, about that - I need a few more days.
TERESE: Look, I know this is gonna be difficult for Roxy.
VANCE: And me. You need to just let me stay here till tomorrow arvo at least. I've got another buyer for Red. And he's not gonna meet me till after lunch.
TERESE: You're still trying to sell her off?!
VANCE: Well, what other option do I have. If I go back to the station, then Roxy's just gonna follow me there. So if you really want me to disappear out of your lives, I'm gonna need money.
TERESE: I'm just not comfortable with you trying to sell a stolen racehorse to some unsuspecting buyer.
VANCE: It's not like they're short of cash. And I'm not selling to anyone who's gonna race in Australia. So there's no harm coming to them. Look - can you just cooperate with me on this one thing? And then, I swear to god, I'll be out of your hair.
During the night, Toadie is looking at photos of his wedding to Dee, and looking very emotional. Shane emerges from the bedroom to check on him.
TOADIE: I can't turn my brain off. It's just the same thing over and over again. What happened? How did she survive? And... why hasn't she come back?
SHANE: ... You know, you don't have to stop the search, mate. If you locate Dee, you get the answers.
TOADIE: All I know is that she's in South Africa. And even if I could find her, she obviously doesn't want to be found. And then on top of that, you know, any time I actually allow myself to feel anything like anger - or hope - all I can think of is Sonya. I mean, how can I think about anybody else? And then when you put Andrea into the mix, I've got no idea what to feel about anything!
Andrea is in a bathrobe, and leaving a voicemail for Heather.
ANDREA: Hey - Ian's just left, thank god. Ugh, I never want to do that again. He thinks it's a bad idea that I've told Toadie that Dee's still alive... Look, I think the guy needs a reality check, okay? She put on a little disappearing act - disappeared, broke his heart - that's fine. But you know what? He's got to take her off that bloody pedestal he's had her on. You know, it might hurt, sure. But at the end of the day, I'm gonna be there to pick up the pieces... Anyway, Mum, can you just call me back?
She notices what look like her clothes from earlier draped over the couch, and flings them to the floor in disgust.
Back Lane Bar
Roxy, Vance and Leo are at the bar; Roxy is concocting some new cocktails, which she tells Leo are inspired by personal acquaintances.
ROXY: I am gonna create one that is strong and sweet for Vance. And don't worry - you're not gonna be left out. Yours is gonna be long and salty. And then, short and spicy for Auntie T.
Roxy asks Vance for his views, but he's distracted.
VANCE: Just thinking about how much I love you.
While Roxy's out of the room, Leo asks Vance what's going on; he's been laying it on thick with her all morning.
VANCE: I'm leaving. Today.
LEO: To go where?
VANCE: Dunno. Things have become too hot with the horse. I've found a buyer for Red - so once that's done, I'm outta here.
LEO: With Roxy?
VANCE (shakes his head): It's breaking my heart to do this to her, but... it's got to happen.
LEO: And what about this place?
VANCE: The investment's in Roxy's name. There's not gonna be any issue there.
LEO: When are you planning to tell her?
VANCE: ... I'm not.
Kirsha and Willow are doing schoolwork at the table, while Dipi is in the kitchen. Shane appears and wonders where Toadie is; no- one knows, and Shane surmises that he must have gone out. He explains to Dipi that Toadie was up in the middle of the night - he isn't coping. Willow and Kirsha overhear this and look concerned.
Dipi thinks it's not fair on Toadie; his grief for Sonya is still raw, and now he has the Dee situation to cope with. They both agree that they're to blame; they should've waited longer before telling him.
A tearful Toadie is at the Friendship Tree, talking to Sonya.
TOADIE: It's just too hard, babe... without you. I know I've got Shane and Dipi, and Karl and Susan. They can't help me with this. Dee's alive. But she doesn't want to be found. So, I've... I've lost her. Again. And I've lost you. I'm all alone.
TOADIE: I can't do this.
Chloe is with Kyle; he says he still has a bit of a twinge in his back, but he's otherwise fine. Chloe is distracted by the sight of Pierce, who's outside the hotel having a meeting with Paul and Terese.
KYLE: If you wanna go see your fiancé and pick up your ring, I'm fine here on my own.
CHLOE: Ha- ha.
KYLE: Have you spent much time with the real future Mrs Greyson?
CHLOE: Yep, we had a chat.
CHLOE: I don't think she's being real.
KYLE: With the crazy lady who hijacked her proposal? No (!)
CHLOE: With Pierce - I don't trust her. And despite popular opinion, that's not because I'm jealous or spurned. I just know something's not right.
Willow and Kirsha are on the sofa, playing with Nell and Hugo. Dipi and Shane are relieved when Toadie comes in; he admits he's been at Sonya's tree.
TOADIE: There's something I want to ask you all. Andrea has asked to come over and spend some time with Hugo, and I feel I can't say no.
DIPI: Are you sure you're in the right headspace for that?
TOADIE: It's not an easy decision. But she has gone out of her way to help me with something so huge, and she didn't have to. But if you're not comfortable with it, well, then, I won't do it.
Willow says it's okay by her, but Kirsha points out that Nell might be scared - Andrea and Heather both messed with her in the past.
SHANE: Uncle Toad decides who comes over - it's his house.
KIRSHA: And ours. We're living here too. It should be somewhere I feel safe.
WILLOW: I totally get where you're coming from. A week ago, I would've told Toadie to keep Mum away.
KIRSHA: What could've changed in a week?
WILLOW: I've watched her. I think she's on the level this time.
Kirsha reluctantly agrees, but says she's going to stay in her room, with Nell, when Andrea comes. Toadie thinks this is a good idea, and thanks Kirsha.
Back Lane Bar
Roxy is showing off her new cocktails to Leo and Vance. Vance spontaneously puts music on, and asks Roxy to dance. She loves it, but wonders what's got into him. Leo looks uncomfortable. As they dance, Vance looks sad.
ROXY: Look, I know that we haven't sold the horse yet. But I wouldn't change a thing about moving here. Just goes to show what a true power couple can achieve together.
VANCE: Well, you know you can achieve everything by yourself, too. You don't need to rely on me.
Roxy briefly looks worried.
VANCE: You're brilliant, and you're capable of anything. Always remember that.
ROXY: Seriously? What is with all the lovey- dovey stuff, huh?
VANCE: You bring out the softie in me.
Roxy goes to make more adjustments to her cocktails, and once she's out of the room, Vance tells Leo he's going now. They shake hands, and a forlorn- looking Vance leaves.
Willow opens the door to Andrea, who seems pleased to see her - as does Hugo. Even Toadie manages a smile this time.
ANDREA: I can't thank you enough for the invite.
TOADIE: Don't mention it.
He explains the rest of the family have made themselves scarce, as they 'wanted to give us some space'. Andrea has brought some toys that Hugo had when he was a baby, and seems genuinely thrilled to be spending more time with him.
ANDREA: Does he still blow raspberries when he's asleep?
TOADIE: Yeah. Every night.
ANDREA: It's so weird!
TOADIE: Yeah, super weird!
Pierce is finishing up his meeting with Terese and Paul. They go inside, while Chloe turns up and says hello to Pierce. But he gets a phone call from someone called Trev. Chloe listens in.
PIERCE: Yeah, I need you to transfer to the seller ASAP (...) That's right. $130K... Yeah, just take it out of my joint account with Ebony. Cheers.
Once he's finished...
CHLOE: Joint account. Big step!
PIERCE: Not really. Just makes things easier. Especially wedding planning.
CHLOE: I bet. So, what are you splashing out on? A unicorn for Ebony to ride in on?
PIERCE: Yeah, close. Buying a racehorse - Rhapsody in Red!
Pierce explains he owns a couple of horses in Hong Kong, and that he's planning on shipping this one to the UK to race there.
CHLOE: It's nice to see you treating yourself - you deserve it!
PIERCE: It's more for Ebony, really - something she wanted. Already planning her outfit for the Royal Ascot.
While Andrea plays with Hugo, Toadie and Willow are in the kitchen - Toadie says Hugo seems to be having a good time. Willow puts an arm around him.
TOADIE: He's happy.
WILLOW: So's Mum.
WILLOW: I'll never forget the awful things she's done to you. But I have to admit, I'm enjoying seeing her today.
TOADIE: You shouldn't feel guilty for that.
WILLOW: I really want to be able to trust her again, so I can have her back in my life. Even though that's stupid.
TOADIE: No, that is not stupid. I'm really glad that you're here today.
WILLOW: Yeah, me too. I don't have a lot of good memories of Mum. So I'm gonna be holding onto this one.
TOADIE: ... Do you want me to ask Andrea to stay for lunch?
WILLOW: I dunno. I mean, what about Kirsha and Nell? I don't want them to be uncomfortable.
TOADIE: Yeah. It's not an ideal situation for anyone, really. But Andrea is your mother. And if you want to have a relationship with her, well, then, you should.
Willow thanks Toadie, who goes to talk to Kirsha and Nell - walking past Andrea, who's very engrossed playing with Hugo on the carpet.
Vance is outside the hotel with his motorbike, talking to Terese.
TERESE: I'm sorry it's come to this. But I am proud of you, that you stuck to your word.
VANCE: No, I'm the one that should be sorry. I haven't exactly made the past few days easy on you.
TERESE: Not days, more like weeks.
VANCE: Hasn't been all bad. We've had a bit of fun, too, right?
TERESE: You haven't told Roxy you're leaving, have you?
VANCE: No, I think you're right. If I'm gonna disappear, it's better she hates me. Then it's easier to forget me.
TERESE: You know, you're not an easy man to forget.
VANCE: Just take care of her?
VANCE: It's been great getting to know the 2019 version of Terese Petrides!
TERESE: Well, you played a big part at a pivotal point in my life. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be where I am today.
VANCE: You'll always be my first love, Terese. No- one can ever lay claim to that title.
They share an emotional hug, during which Terese paws at the scar on Vance's chest. But Paul is watching from inside the hotel, and looks suspicious...
Dipi is preparing lunch. Andrea offers to give her a hand, but Dipi is relatively standoffish, and insists on doing it herself, despite Andrea's repeated attempts to chip in. Andrea rejoins the others in the next room; Hugo has gone for a nap, and Kirsha and Shane have come out to join Toadie, Nell and Willow. Andrea tries to make conversation with Kirsha, but gets an icy reception.
Kirsha goes to walk Clancy, but Clancy rushes into the house and makes a beeline for Andrea, who seems to get on very well with him, leading Kirsha to soften towards her a little.
ANDREA: I had a dog just like Clancy when I was your age. He used to eat everything. I still miss Checkers. We moved a lot when I was a kid, so I never really stayed in one spot long enough to make friends. Always had Checkers. Made me feel less alone. Does he do any tricks?
Kirsha demonstrates some of Clancy's tricks for an impressed- looking Andrea. Everyone in the room is now smiling, including Toadie, as Andrea claps enthusiastically...
Terese is working, when Roxy approaches and asks her if she and Paul could make themselves scarce tonight, so that she can cook Vance a special dinner at the house, since he's been 'adorable lately'.
ROXY: I'm gonna be the Naked Chef.
ROXY: What? Are you worried about OH&S? I'll wear an apron.
TERESE: ... Okay. Have a good night.
ROXY: Thanks, Auntie T. You're the best.
But Terese looks guilty as Roxy leaves.
In the kitchen, Andrea thanks Shane and Dipi for everything.
ANDREA: If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here with my boy now.
DIPI: We don't need your gratitude. Everything we did, we did for Toadie.
ANDREA: And Sonya. Being invited into her house - yeah, I don't take it lightly.
DIPI: You know what, Andrea?
But sensing that Dipi's about to launch into a tirade, Shane interrupts, reminding Andrea that she has a work shift and will be late. Before she goes, Andrea asks Shane if he'd take a family photo of her with Hugo and Willow. Kirsha heads for the kitchen, unwilling to be involved. But Andrea insists on Toadie being in the picture.
ANDREA: I just think it'd be nice for Hugo when he's older.
Toadie isn't thrilled about it, but reluctantly goes along with it, and smiles for the camera. Andrea then kisses Hugo and Willow goodbye, and thanks everyone again, before leaving.
Terese is looking distracted at a table. Chloe comes by, and asks her what's up. Terese says she's fine, and asks what Chloe was talking to Pierce about before - thinking it might've been something to do with the Lassiter's wine deal.
CHLOE: He was too busy buying a horse.
Terese is instantly on alert, and asks where Pierce is buying it from, and what its name was.
CHLOE: No idea (...) He's shipping it to the UK, so Queen Ebony can go to Ascot. Maybe it was called Lady in Red, or Bohemian Rhapsody? Something like that.
Terese looks worried.
Toadie and Shane kick back with a beer.
SHANE: Big day.
TOADIE: It's becoming the norm.
SHANE: Did we do the wrong thing? Opening up this can of worms?
TOADIE: You did what you thought was right.
SHANE: But was it? You got some answers about Dee - but not all of them. And Andrea's back in your life, like it or not. We should've waited. I'm sorry.
TOADIE: ... Sonya knew what she was doing when she trusted you with this information. You're a good brother.
They both look emotional.
SHANE: So - Andrea. Where to from here?
TOADIE: I dunno. She's doing and saying all the right stuff, but...
SHANE: She's getting... pretty attached to Hugo. And maybe... that could mean she becomes a bit more attached to you, too.
Toadie gets a picture message from Andrea - it's the family snap Shane took of her with him, Willow and Hugo before, with a caption thanking him for the wonderful day.
TOADIE: Not gonna let that happen.
Andrea smiles as she looks at the same photo on her phone. She then picks up the printed photo, presumably the one Ian gave her yesterday.
It's a picture of what looks like a market stall, possibly at the Salamanca Markets. We can see Ian in an apron, holding a lump of crystal, with his other arm around Karen/Dee/Andrea, who's in a billowy yellow dress. Hanging on either side of the dress appear to be an alarm clock and a bag of oranges. To her left, in dark shirt/jeans, is another man - the man last seen on a park bench in Episode 7666...
Andrea smiles smugly as she puts the photo down...
