Pavilion
Gary calls an ambulance for Dipi and tries not to go into detail over what has exactly happened.
The Waterhole
Sheila is trying to reach Gary as he's been gone a while but gets his voicemail instead, so she tells him to get back to the bar quickly.
Meanwhile, as she chats to Amy, it is dawning on Xanthe how much she is going to miss Erinsborough when she heads to Toowoomba.
SHEILA: Would you two stop being mooshy, you'll have me in tears.
AMY: If you can't get smooshy on New Year's, when can you?
Shane is surprised to get a call from Gary, but as he starts to talk (we don't hear that) whatever is being said, has Shane shocked.
Hospital
Shane rushes to the hospital to find out what is wrong with his wife, but when he enters the room she is in, David sends him packing until he's finished examining Dipi.
In the corridor, Shane is after answers and Gary explains that at the coffee hut, and he went to crash tackle some guy except it wasn't him, it was Dipi. He pleads that he didn't know it was Dipi although is curious to know why she was there in the first place. That doesn't go down well with Shane, who thinks Gary is trying to blame his wife, but he quickly backtracks and admits "I feel terrible about what's happened."
David's timely arrival in the corridor puts paid to anything happening between the guys and he gives Shane permission to go in and see his wife. Subject to x-rays, David confirms that there are no broken bones but thinks she has concussion after taking a knock to the head.
Shane is still after answers as to why she was at the pavilion, so Dipi explains about going looking for Yashvi's phone but without exactly going into the reason why. Dipi wants Shane to go home for the girls as they are likely to be worried and somewhat reluctantly, he heads home.
Number 26/Hospital
Sheila is relived to finally hear from Gary just as she (and Amy) arrive home. Gary breaks the news to her that he's at the hospital and why, but since he never got the invertors shifted, he wants her to get rid of them. She points out that it is 2am to him and he literally begs her to do it for him.
SHEILA: Gary Canning, you are running out of lives.
GARY: Thanks, Mum.
SHEILA: No, you'll thank me when those solar inverters are well into the boot of my car.
Having caught the tail end of the conversation, Amy asks "what's this about inverters?"
(Later)
Sheila explains to Amy about Gary being set up, but her reply is that "none of this would've have happened if he wasn't involved with them in the ?rst place." "Yeah, but he hates himself for that," Sheila tries to say, but Amy isn't amused to hear that Gary stole from her.
SHEILA: Technically he was only the delivery driver.
AMY: And like that makes any difference!
Sheila seems to think that because "it all worked out okay" that is the end of the matter. Amy tries to explain that thousands of dollars' worth of equipment is going to have to be dumped because she can't use them nor go to the police either. She is angry too at being deceived by 'caring and supportive Gary' when he was the one responsible the whole time. "He did it for you," Sheila tries to explain so Gary could pay his debt back quicker.
AMY: By stealing from me?!
SHEILA: I think you should talk to Gary, love and maybe get his side of things?
AMY: No. No, I don't think I'll ever be able to face him again.
Hospital
Dipi wakes up surrounded by her family and confirms that despite feeling a bit woozy, she is okay. Yashvi is feeling guilty but Dipi reassures the lass it wasn't her fault... although Shane isn't happy at her drinking his home brew!
David arrives to let her know Dipi will be going for a pre-cautionary MRI scan to make sure they are covering all bases. That news seems to really throw Dipi, and she gets Shane to go and take the girls home, but before he leaves, she tells him about doing a tarot card reading and the same cards came up again.
SHANE: This isn't some foretold manifestation of doom. It was just Gary Canning being a tool.
DIPI: Gary?
And out in the corridor, Gary has been waiting for news, but when he sees David, because he isn't family, he can't say anything. Sheila joins Gary in the wait and isn't surprised to hear that Shane isn't talking to him. "What have I done?" he asks her, and she is blunt to the point - he's "stuffed up because you're an idiot." Gary takes that comment on the chin and asks instead about the invertors, so Sheila explains its sorted... because "Amy helped me" after hearing them talk on the phone.
SHEILA: It's done, Gary. Amy knows everything.
Number 26
A very angry Amy is awaiting Gary's arrival home. "I don't know what to say, I'm sorry," he says to her, but she wants to know what the 'sorry' is for - "what you've done, or sorry that I found out?" Neither, he is sorry for taking the job because of the money and that she should know "how much it means for me to pay you back." She points out that she's never pressured him to repay the money, but in his mindset, he's the one putting the pressure on himself.
AMY: You stole from me, Gary. When is that going to sink in?
"I didn't know what I was delivering," he pleads, which doesn't wash with her especially that once he did know, he still didn't tell her. "By then I figured it was too late," Gary tries to explain which goes down like a lead balloon!
Amy stands up and walks towards the door and Gary asks if she is leaving? She seems more fearful of having to go back to her dad's and see the look on his face "when he ?nds out he was right about you all along?"
GARY: I just didn't want to be the loser, who was never going to be able to pay you back.
AMY: What? So, you'd rather be pathetic and violent instead?!
GARY: No, no, what happened to Dipi was an accident!
AMY: Yeah, and I hope she's okay!
Before he heads back to the hospital, he fearfully asks if Amy will still be here when he gets back? "I don't know," she honestly replies back.
Hospital
Shane is exactly being friendly towards Gary when he arrives back at the hospital wanting to know how Dipi is. Gary tries to explain to him the reasons behind why Dipi ended up in hospital, but Shane stops him to point out that he "could have killed my wife 'cos you're a screw up." "If I could go back and change things, I would," Gary replies but Shane doesn't think so because Gary never learns.
GARY: You think I wanted this to happen?
SHANE: This happened cos you're always looking for the easy way out instead of working for it like everyone else.
Face it, mate, you're weak. You always were, you always will be.
The conversation is interrupted, when the police arrive wanting a word with Gary.
Number 26
Bring a cuppa through for Amy, Sheila admits that she is "slick to my stomach about what's happened." "Not half as sick as me," Amy replies back before the conversation is stopped as Xanthe comes home. She notices that Amy is upset, but rather than say why, Amy heads off instead to bed leaving Sheila to be the one to tell Xanthe what has happened. It dawns on Xanthe why Gary has done this - to pay her Uni fees.
SHEILA: Look, your father's done the wrong thing again, for the right reason. But I don't think it's going to make much difference to Amy, not in the slightest.
Hospital
Shane listens on as Gary lies to the police over what happened - he realised he'd left the Coffee Hut unlocked, so went to check it and saw someone (Dipi) who scared the life out of him. He reacted and when she went down, she obviously hit her head.
GARY: That's what happened, it was a terrible accident.
Meanwhile in Dipi's room, Yashvi is nursing a hangover from hell and her mum tells her to drink some water (she should have some Irn Bru it cures hangovers!). The girls are sent out of the room when the police enter to ask Dipi some questions. About the only thing Dipi can really say to them is why she was at the pavilion as she got hit as she turned a corner and the next thing she remembers is waking up in hospital.
The police seem happy with what Dipi has said, as it corroborates what Gary said, so the matter won't be taken any further.
"Thank you for not saying anything about what I was involved in," Gary tells Shane when he comes out of Dipi's room into the corridor.
SHANE: I didn't do it for you. I did it for Sheila and Xanthe and Amy. I feel sorry for them. They deserve better than you.
Number 26
Gary is surprised to see Xanthe and Sheila still up when he gets back from the hospital. He informs them that Dipi will be okay, they are just waiting on one more test before nervously asking if Amy is here? "In the spare room," Sheila nonchalantly replies back and even Xanthe is giving him the cold shoulder too when he tries to ask how her night was. Gary acknowledges that he stuffed up and thought his was the only way to get the money. Xanthe then announces that they won't need the money because she isn't going to Uni, she is going to get a refund so he can pay Amy back.
XANTHE: Dad, it's the only thing that matters, okay? I'm not going to be responsible for you going back to prison.
Okay?
After Xanthe stomps off to her room, Gary tells his mum "it wasn't meant to be like this."
SHEILA: Yeah, but somehow it always is with you.
Hospital
Despite not feeling right about letting Gary get away with it, Shane goes along with his wife's rationale that it was the right thing to do.
David arrives to take Dipi for her MRI scan and she reassures them all, Kirsha especially that its just precautionary, and that she will be fine.
(Later)
The family are waiting for Dipi to return and Yashvi is swearing off the drink thanks to her stinking hangover.
As they wait, suddenly over the tannoy we hear an announcement: Code Blue. Adult female, Radiology.
"Isn't Mum in Radiology?" Kirsha comments which Shane confirms. Just at that, Shane stops the passing David to ask what is going on and if the announcement concerned Dipi.
DAVID: I'm sorry. She's had a severe allergic reaction to the contrast dye.
SHANE: Ah. The what? What? is she all right?
DAVID: She's gone into cardiac arrest. They're trying to resuscitate her now.
David then apologises for rushing off, promising that he will come back to them as the family look scared witless especially when the tannoy announcement repeating the 'code blue' is heard again.
