Erinsborough Hospital
Mark is playing down the significance of what's happened to Dilhan, reminding Mishti that she never asked Monique to 'kneecap the guy'.
MISHTI: I was so focused on drawing her out of hiding, I never stopped to think. She doesn't do anything by halves.
MARK: He's a scumbag who was asking for trouble.
MISHTI: Not the point (...) Do you think she ever meant to meet us?
MARK: It seems unlikely now.
Mishti declares that she'll have to tell Sergeant Lake about what's happened, and that she'll be in huge trouble for going off-book. Mark points out that at least the police will now have a lead on Monique.
MISHTI: I just hope Dilhan's going to be okay. Never thought I'd be saying that.
Harold's Café
Elly is helping Xanthe to study at a table. Dipi comes over and tries to foist bottles of Tinkle, Shane's recycled-urine water, onto them - but surprisingly, neither is interested!
DIPI: It really is completely hygienic.
ELLY: Thank you, Dipi, but you know what? I am feeling super-hydrated.
XANTHE: Mm, yeah - so am I.
DIPI: Okay. Well, I might just leave it here - just in case you change your mind!
ELLY (whispering): There's no way in the world I am drinking the Sharma-Rebecchis' wee!
Xanthe is working super-hard towards her medical exams, and Elly reminds her that there's such a thing as balance. Xanthe retorts that there isn't while Gary is helping her with her uni fees. As she gets gradually more stressed out talking about it, Xanthe has another seizure in her arm...
The Waterhole
Mark and Aaron are hanging out. Mark asks after Aaron's flu; he says that David got him through that. They spot Chloe nearby talking to a woman, Caroline, and assume it's Cash4Company business. The woman leaves, and Chloe joins Mark and Aaron.
CHLOE: Having brothers is like having a personal surveillance system, twenty-four seven.
AARON: We're not judging!
MARK: Was that, umm... was that a client?
CHLOE: Indirectly. It's her son's twenty-first birthday - so she has hired me to help him take the next step.
MARK: What?! I hope you said no! Not that I'm telling you what to do...
CHLOE: Good. Because I told her I could deliver.
Her brothers are curious about how she can 'deliver' when Cash4Company is a 'talking-only' escort service. Chloe responds that she is 'thinking creatively'.
CHLOE: Outsourcing! Oh, just don't stress; I've got it all under control. And it will all be done in the best possible taste.
Erinsborough Police Station
Mishti comes in to talk to Sergeant Lake, to come clean about her attempts to lure out Monique. Lake is barely civil to her, reminding Mishti it's way above her pay grade and that she shouldn't be involved. When Mishti says she has some information, Lake dismissively tells her to file a report.
Harold's Café
Dipi has brought Xanthe a drink as she recovers from her seizure.
DIPI: It's just tap-water, I promise!
Dipi asks if they should call a doctor; Xanthe rather abruptly tells her that there's nothing they can do now the seizure's over. Xanthe's despondent, but Elly praises her for staying calm. Xanthe says the seizures are brought on by stress, but she has them under control more than she used to. She asks Elly to find her medication in her bag - but Elly can't find them.
Xanthe's worried as they were the last pills she had. Elly suggests they go to see David, to get another prescription.
The Waterhole
Chloe comes in, and subtly identifies her 'client', Caroline's son Sandy. He is standing at the bar looking nervous. Chloe looks at her phone.
CHLOE: Oh, I don't believe it! Who sends a text thirty seconds before you're due to meet and says, 'sorry, I'm not in the mood'? Honestly - it's not like *this* happens by accident. I spent so long getting ready. Hey - would you like to have a drink with me?
SANDY: What? Err, no. I mean, you seem really nice. But I'm only here because my mum said I had to get out of the house. I won't be staying long.
CHLOE: Why would your mum want you out of the house? Were you making too much noise?
SANDY: Because it's my birthday. And she wants me to try and be more social.
CHLOE: Happy birthday! And you know what? I think your mum's right. You should be more social. Starting with a drink with me!
Meanwhile, Mishti explains to Mark that she tried to talk to Sergeant Lake but that it was 'weird - she didn't want to know', other than to tell Mishti to write up a report on what she knew. Mark says Lake was always very by-the-book with him too. Mishti gets a text from Monique, saying she wants to meet.
MARK: There are two options. You could pass this onto Lake and hope she does the right thing... or...
MISHTI: Let's do it.
Harold's Café
Dipi complains to Aaron that The Department™ responsible for food standards is moving glacially on her application to have her Full Salute tea approved for sale! She's been told they can't sell it at the Retreat until she gets the official go-ahead. Dipi gets a phone call from Mishti, asking her to organise lunch for when Pavan brings his mother to visit tomorrow.
DIPI: She and Mishti had a slightly rocky start, but it's all sorted now, and I'm sure she'll love our family!
Dipi rambles on and on, saying she needs to make up for the way she treated Pavan at first. Eventually she realises that Aaron is waiting for a coffee, and gets on with it!
No 32
Mishti and Mark discuss their plan to confront Monique; Mishti wants her to confess to assaulting Dilhan so that the police can charge her with that while processing the corruption case. She asks Mark to suss out the meeting place while they're talking, to ensure Monique hasn't brought backup. They agree he'll text her an emoji once he's sure it's safe to 'go ahead'; he'll be ready to jump in.
MARK: Mishti, you don't have to do this.
MISHTI: Yeah, I do. I just hate this part. No matter how prepared you are, you always know that something could go wrong.
MARK: Just call out if you need me. I'll only be a few seconds away, yeah?
No 24
David is asleep on the couch when Aaron comes in, and remarks that he looks 'wrecked'. David admits work has been a slog lately, and asks Aaron how his withdrawal symptoms are. Aaron says he's much better; the sweats have gone now.
Elly and Xanthe turn up at the door to see David. Xanthe explains she's had a seizure and can't find her meds; she was hoping David could prescribe some. David goes one better, admitting that he has Xanthe's medication. He claims he found the pills at The Shed, and was going to bring them back to her but forgot about it.
XANTHE: That's a really big thing to slip your mind.
DAVID: Yeah. I'm... really sorry.
Aaron explains that David is being worked to the bone at the hospital; David agrees, saying he's not had much sleep lately.
XANTHE: I've heard training doctors can make some big mistakes when they're overworked.
DAVID: It's not that bad.
XANTHE: Are you sure you don't want to speak up?
DAVID: Honestly, this is just a once-off.
David offers to make it up to Xanthe with some biology tutoring, if she has time now. She agrees, but Elly is looking a little suspicious nearby.
The Waterhole
Sandy is chatting to Chloe at the bar, while two girls play pool nearby.
SANDY: I don't have that many mates. Just a couple from taekwondo, but that's about it.
CHLOE: Taekwondo? That's like karate, yeah?
Sandy explains the difference, at length.
CHLOE: Wow! You must be pretty fit, then!
SANDY: Seven percent body fat.
Chloe notices the girls looking at Sandy, and tells him he has a fan-club. He's sceptical, but Chloe suggests he go and talk to them.
SANDY: I can't do that. I'm terrible with girls.
CHLOE: I'm a girl; you're talking to me.
SANDY: Yeah, but you talked to me first. It's different the other way round.
CHLOE: Let's change that.
SANDY: I'm not even wearing a good shirt.
CHLOE: Let's change that too!
An abandoned warehouse
Mishti has arrived to meet Monique as agreed. She waits nervously, and soon hears footsteps - it's Monique. They smile at one another.
MISHTI: Thought you were gonna stand me up.
MONIQUE: You really think I'd treat my best friend like that?
MISHTI: What you did with Dilhan proves you still care. You well and truly took care of him.
MONIQUE: Open your jacket and turn around.
Mishti obeys, saying she's not recording Monique. She's more hesitant when Monique asks to see her phone, but eventually obeys. Monique looks at the phone for a sustained period, while Mishti glances around.
MONIQUE: Who are you looking for?
MISHTI: No-one. I'm by myself. Just making sure that you are, too.
MONIQUE: Well, you're the one that contacted me. And there's got to be a reason for it, so let's get down to it.
Soon afterwards, Mark is creeping around in the upper echelons of the warehouse; he listens to Mishti and Monique talking about Mishti's engagement to Pavan.
MISHTI: Pavan's a lovely guy, though. I mean, as far as I know. Never in a million years did I think Zander would be crooked. Or you.
MONIQUE: Well, it's not like it was the plan. I signed up with the best intentions, and I know Zander did too.
MISHTI: So what tipped you both over the edge?
MONIQUE: Is that why we're here?
MISHTI: I need to know.
MONIQUE: Well, it happened slowly. You trust the wrong person, and somehow you end up in a hole and you can't get out.
MISHTI: Was it the same for Zander?
MONIQUE: No, that was my fault. I was in danger, and I had to call him. He didn't even want to get involved.
MISHTI: So Zander wasn't crooked?
MONIQUE: He made me promise that we would never get you involved, even if it meant destroying our own careers.
Monique hears a dog barking outside. Mark is still loitering about, unseen.
MONIQUE: Did you bring someone with you?
MISHTI: I told you - no.... So tell me about Dilhan?
MONIQUE: He was your fling - what would I know about him?
MISHTI: He made my life hell. Just give me some details. Did he cry like a baby when you met up with him? Was he freaking out?
MONIQUE: Listen to yourself!
MISHTI: Come on - just give me something!
MONIQUE: Well, it's not like I did the dirty work.
MISHTI: But you know who did. You're the one who set it up.
The Waterhole
Chloe removes Sandy's hoodie and glasses, which she declares renders him 'a big, spunky babe'! She then drags him over to talk to the girls at the pool table, despite his hesitation. The lead (speaking) girl, Greta, welcomes them to join the game, and Chloe introduces herself and Sandy. A nervous Sandy doesn't say anything; Greta assumes he's Chloe's boyfriend, but she assures him otherwise.
CHLOE: It's his birthday today. Twenty-one. Key to the door and all that. We're just having a cracker of a time. He's just been telling me all about his taekwondo!
GRETA: You do taekwondo? I do taekwondo!
And thus a match in heaven is made! Chloe smiles with satisfaction as Sandy and Greta get chatting.
An abandoned warehouse
Mishti and Monique are still talking.
MONIQUE: All I told my friends was, make sure this Dilhan guy knows that we mean business.
MISHTI: Well, he's in hospital. So safe to say your orders were carried out.
MONIQUE: Good. And that's one thing that I'm not gonna feel guilty about. And you know what? Zander would be right behind me.
Monique still has Mishti's phone, and it vibrates in her pocket; Mark has sent Mishti a shamrock emoji to inform her the coast is clear, but it shows as a private number.
MISHTI: Must be from Pavan.
MONIQUE: On a private number? Why isn't your fiancé in your phone book?
MISHTI: It's probably from his work phone.
MONIQUE: Cut the crap, Mishti. I can't believe I let you play me.
Monique goes to leave, but Mishti grabs her and wrestles her to the floor.
MISHTI: You're under arrest!
Mark runs in and helps Mishti secure Monique. Sirens are heard in the distance; Mishti asks if Mark called the cops, but he insists it wasn't him.
No 24
Xanthe is working on her biology revision, while David nods off again on the sofa next to her! Surprised at how tired he is, Xanthe says they can do this later - but David insists he's fine. He tells Xanthe to compare her work to the notes on his iPad, which is in his bag. While David fetches a drink, Xanthe goes in the bag - but the prescription he wrote for Aaron drops out, and she sees it.
XANTHE: Why are you prescribing these painkillers for Aaron? These meds are really similar to the ones that I'm taking...
DAVID: Well, you know, Aaron's been carrying an injury.
XANTHE: Yeah, but that doesn't mean you can prescribe this kind of thing for your family.
ELLY: And he's been fine since the honeymoon, right?
David dissembles, saying he wrote it late at night and wasn't thinking about the rules - but points out that the prescription hasn't been used.
XANTHE: That's still a really big mistake that you made. You don't really seem like yourself right now.
DAVID: Look, I know I'm not at the top of my game, but I'm just so exhausted.
XANTHE: David, are you sure that that's it? I mean, you had my pills, and you've been writing dodgy scripts, and you seem a little bit off. Are you taking painkillers?
Harold's Café
Chloe is having a coffee with Caroline, Sandy's mother.
CHLOE: Your son is lovely, Mrs Alexander. He's so sweet, and... malleable!
CAROLINE: Really? He wasn't too awkward and nervous?
CHLOE: He was, at first. But as soon as Greta started talking about taekwondo, he just opened up, like a blooming flower!
CAROLINE: Greta?
CHLOE: She's the girl I set him up with!
CAROLINE: Oh! So, it wasn't you who...?
CHLOE: Oh, no, no - that's not what my business is about.
CAROLINE: But when we talked, I thought you said you'd deliver?
CHLOE: And I did!
CAROLINE: But if you weren't there, how do you know?
CHLOE: Well, I sent Sandy a text, asking if he got lucky. And he replied, saying he's the luckiest guy in the world - because he and Greta are going to keep seeing each other! She might even become his girlfriend.
CAROLINE: Then, you delivered - and more.
CHLOE: I certainly did!
CAROLINE: I really don't know how to thank you.
CHLOE: How about a nice, fat bonus?
Caroline goes into her handbag.
Erinsborough Police Station
Sergeant Lake is giving Mishti and Mark a dressing-down.
LAKE: Anything could've happened out there! You could've been killed!
MISHTI: I tried to tell you.
LAKE: Instead, you shared information with an ex-officer!
MISHTI: (...) Monique's been arrested. Isn't that the main thing - that she's off the streets?
LAKE: Why do you think I told you to stay out of it? (...) Because we already had a special unit working this. You jeopardised months of their work - in fact, you almost destroyed the whole operation!
She turns to Mark.
LAKE: I suppose I should've expected something like this from you.
MARK: We had good intentions.
MISHTI: Sergeant Lake, I am sorry.
LAKE: So am I, Mishti. Because you are officially suspended.
