- Elly knocks at Bea's apartment door as Finn waits nervously inside
Elly cautiously opens the apartment door and calls out to a seemingly empty apartment. She spots a pair of glasses on the table and is confused as to why music is playing. As she approaches the bathroom door Bea rushes home and wants to know why Elly is there. Bea finds Finn hiding in the bathroom in his chair, and he hisses at Bea to get rid of Elly.
Steph hands over the keys of the Wellness Centre to Gary who thanks her for the opportunity. Gary enthuses about some new initiatives he already has in place for the retreat. As Sheila butts in, Steph reminds Gary not to take too much advice from outside sources!
Elly apologises for entering without permission and mentions the music and the reading glasses, commenting that there's so much she doesn't know yet about Bea. Bea reminds Elly that she's entitled to her privacy and gets her to leave. Once she's gone, Finn gives Bea a glare as he comes out from the bathroom.
BEA: I don't like lying!
FINN: And I don't like surprises.
Steph tells Toadie that she's loved living with the Rebecchis but is ready for her own life. Toadie suggests that she finds out if Max knows about Philippa's affair, but Steph is confident that she's come to a good arrangement already.
Elly recounts her visit to Bea's apartment to Mark. He reminds Elly that Bea made need time to adjust having been estranged from her for such a long time. She agrees to take both Bea and Mark to dinner to make amends.
Karl is practising his pitch to Susan to join the hospital board as Elly returns home and introduces Cassius who is looking for extra work. Susan is taken by the idea of some help in the garden whilst Karl is on crutches, but he seems put out at the idea of someone meddling with his plants! Cassius offers a free trial to show that he can meet Karl's high standards.
Bea apologises for Elly's intrusion, but reminds Finn that Elly is family and she is finding his secrecy difficult.
FINN: Maybe I didn't want Elly to find out that I'm in this wheelchair because of you. Stop pushing this.
Bea looks crushed at Finn's brutal response but agrees that he's right.
Toadie wakes Sheila up from a daydream and she explains that she's preoccupied with Clive and the hospital board. Toadie asks her to take some notes that he begins to dictate but Sheila immediately struggles typing at a fast pace. Toadie says that he'll make voice notes instead and place them in a folder on Sheila's computer, and she seems pretty chuffed at the whizzy technology!
Finn apologises for being cold with Bea and explains that his disability sometimes frustrates him. She says that she wants Finn to meet Elly as they are both important people in her life. Finn says that he will once he's built up his confidence and Bea decides to show him a photo of Elly instead. He comments how much they look alike and notices that Mark is looking fondly at Elly in the background. Bea receives Elly's invite to dinner and Finn encourages her to attend. As she gets ready in the bathroom, Finn removes a key from a keychain.
Cassius gets off the phone to Karl whilst wearing some very short shorts! Piper approaches to thank him for the delivery of fresh apples. She learns that Cassius is hoping that Karl will become his new customer and she offers some tips to get in his good books.
Steph finishes a difficult phone conversation with Philippa who still hasn't spoken to Max. Toadie says that Steph is being too patient with her and he's been researching custody arrangements, but Steph doesn't want to jeopardise the situation by rushing things and tells him to drop it.
Susan and Elly are pleased with how much more relaxed Bea appears to be as they prepare for dinner. Bea quizzes both Karl and Toadie about how they coped (and in Karl's case is still coping) with recovery after having accidents that made walking difficult. Meanwhile Toadie expresses his concerns to Susan that Philippa may not follow through with her and Steph's agreement. Susan strongly advises that Toadie let Steph take the lead and not to get involved. Toadie agrees but resolves to draft a letter to Max anyway to try to convince Steph of the strong position she's in.
Sheila and Gary are waxing lyrical about their respective new developments at work whilst both ignoring the other. Sheila receives Toadie's draft letter and is confused as to why he has marked it ‘urgent' when he wanted to steer clear of the situation for now. Gary advises Sheila not to question Toadie's instructions and send the letter.
No. 28 Backyard
Karl comes to inspect Cassius' handywork in the greenhouse and is astounded that he is listening to The Right Prescription. Karl immediately sees through his attempts at flattery.
KARL: I know what you're up to… and I like it.
CASSIUS: You do?
KARL: Yeah. I never fault someone using their initiative, it reminds me of me! Keep it up. Impress me!
Finn spies on Mark closing up the garage from across the road.
Toadie is impressed at how quickly Sheila has finished all of her day's tasks. Steph interrupts them in a rage and starts bellowing at Toadie.
STEPH: I told you to leave it alone!
TOADIE: Leave what alone?
STEPH: Max's lawyer went straight to him, and now he knows everything! And then Max had to find out through a legal letter! What, are you saying that you didn't write it?
TOADIE: I did write a letter, but that was only to show you what it would look like. I did not send that letter, I would not do that without….
It suddenly dawns on Steph and Toadie that Sheila had sent the letter erroneously. He tries to apologise to Steph but she's still furious.
STEPH: This is a complete disaster, Toad! You have just ruined any chance I had of making it work for everyone.
TOADIE: We can fix this.
STEPH: No, we cannot fix it! Philippa is now on her way to get Charlie to take him back with her.
TOADIE: Oh Steph, I'm so sorry.
STEPH: I was handling this Toadie, why couldn't you just leave it alone!
Bea continues to quiz the Kennedys about Toadie's history of paralysis. Mark arrives for dinner as Bea heads outside to make a call to Finn. She thanks him for encouraging her to go. After hanging up it's revealed that Finn is sat typing at a laptop in Fitzgerald Motors whilst he glares at a photo of the three Brennan brothers together. He strides confidently out of the building, without his wheelchair in sight…
