- Rafael tells David he's sorry
Amy tells Leo and David she knew concrete slabs don't just fall like that. Leo says it makes sense for Sue to be behind it but David wonders what Raf's reason was.
Rafael tells Mishti nobody was supposed to get hurt. The only reason he agreed to work with Sue was because Mishti wouldn't listen to him. Mishti insists there is no evidence Paul was at fault over the fire in Sao Paulo. Rafael confesses he called the Warratah Star about the underpaid homeowners and Mishti asks how he obtained confidential information.
Leo asks David if Rafael has ever been alone in here and David confirms he was. He realises Rafael only wanted to get dirt on Paul.
Rafael tells Mishti it started off that way but he really fell for David. He thought maybe he was wrong about Paul until Sue told him Paul was linked to the Lassiters fire. He told the Brazilian authorities but they wouldn't reopen the case. Sue suggested creating another accident. Mishti asks if there were prior accidents and Rafael says Jayden created minor ones.
Leo asks why Jayden is being questioned and David says Sue used Jayden to sabotage the work site. Amy says the truck with the unsecured load was nothing to do with Jayden and insists she trusts him.
Jayden tells Mishti he's hated doing these things because Amy trusts him. He caused the concrete slab to fall but it was all his mum's idea.
Sue tells Mishti that Paul had dodged the consequences of all the other incidents so she had to escalate things.
MISHTI: With Rafael?
SUE: He was just meant to be a passer- by who reported a fallen slab but he didn't get the chance.
MISHTI: Because the slab fell on someone?
SUE: If only it had been Paul! That man has caused me to lose everything; my home, my husband, my place on the council. I cannot fathom how he can regain his fortune and I still have nothing. Except my son.
MISHTI: By implicating Jayden in your plan you might just lose him too.
Back to Rafael. He tells Mishti he went to the site as soon as he found out Jayden was behind it all but he was too late. Mishti asks why he didn't help Leo. Rafael says he was a coward and he regrets it.
RAFAEL: Most of all I regret hurting David.
Paige and Jack are dressed for Louise's sentencing. Paige is nervous and hopes the judge doesn't hand down a lighter sentence. She wonders if Mark will be there.
Elly is surprised Mark isn't at the sentencing. Mark doesn't want to be in Paige and Jack's way and is in no rush to see Louise again. He's waiting for an interviewee for his new apprentice and Elly offers to help.
Mishti is telling Paul that Rafael claims his mother Maria Silva died in a fire in a factory Paul owned and he was burned trying to save her. Paul thinks the story is preposterous and wants all three of them charged. Mishti leaves and David tells the others he's seen the scars on Rafael's back. Amy asks Paul if it was around the time of his brain tumour. Paul admits his memories of Brazil are patchy. It's possible the fire happened and he has no recollection of it.
Xanthe is video calling Ben in Oakey on her tablet. The room Ben is in has the old kitchen door from No.32, recycled for a second time (it was last seen masquerading as a door in the Byron Bay Backpackers in Episode 6302, and yes this is quite possibly the most boring piece of random Neighbours trivia ever). Libby and Susan have arrived in Oakey and Libby has taken Susan out to cheer her up.
At another table, Amy has a go at Jayden for how he has repaid her. Jayden tells her he had to do it for his mum, but he dropped her in it to save Amy's business. Amy tells him it's too late; he's fired.
JAYDEN: Working for you was the best thing I've ever done. I'm really sorry.
AMY [after Jayden leaves]: So am I.
Mark and Elly interview a guy called Fraser although it's mostly Elly teasing Mark about being a neat freak. Sheila looks on. Elly determines Fraser has lied on his CV and he leaves. Elly is all over Mark, saying she just saved him from hiring a dud and made him smile at the same time. Sheila smiles to herself.
Aaron and David are apologising to each other when David sees Rafael talking to Paul. Paul has bailed him out and insists he doesn't recall Rafael's mother or the fire but promises to do all he can to find out about it. Paul goes off, leaving Rafael surprised. Aaron watches from a distance as Rafael takes David's hand and tells him he wasn't pretending to like him.
Elly is at the bar and Sheila says their interviews look more like stand up. Elly says Mark just needs to be cheered up. Sheila asks if they're getting back together. Elly admits she's never stopped liking Mark but doubts he's interested. Sheila thinks he is, and Elly would be perfect for him right now. Elly doesn't want to be rejected again. She returns to the table where Mark suggests they head to the Back Lane Bar later.
Xanthe apologises to Leo for being late. Steph asks Xanthe to let Ben know the hub caps on Drew's car have come up a treat. Xanthe isn't sure when she'll talk to him next and Steph realises she's struggling with the long- distance relationship.
STEPH: It's all about communication really. You know, take photos, send texts... I can't believe I'm telling a millennial to abuse her phone!
Paul gets off the phone from an old mate who may have located a missing link... Dakota Davies! He's tracked her down in London and is thinking of flying over to meet up. Leo says he may not get any information out of her since one or both of them is guilty. He suggests he go instead.
PAUL: You don't think she'll be a bit suss when a perfect stranger starts asking questions about her time in Brazil?
LEO: Well, not if they're posed cleverly with genuine casual interest.
PAUL: You old smoothie! I mean, yeah, she's not averse to the company of men so...
LEO: And let's face it, I am a taller, younger, better- looking version of you!
Leo says he can give the presentation at the hotel conference while he's there instead of Terese doing a video link. Paul agrees.
Sheila tells Gary and Xanthe that Dipi thinks she can raise the funds herself to put on the Flapper show. She needs to choose the right part; Ophelia or Lady McBeth. A voice suddenly comes from Xanthe's phone.
SHEILA: Is that Hamlet's ghost?!
XANTHE: Ben; he's on Facetime.
Sheila asks if this is going to be every night but Xanthe says just as much as it used to be.
Steph is working on Drew's car and Mark appears as Jack and Paige return. Louise has been put away for 20 years; the same as Tyler. There are awkward glances with Steph.
Leo tells Mishti he's going to London for five days and she is concerned since he's still on the mend. She leaves and Leo joins David and Amy on the balcony. David can't help feeling sorry for Rafael; he still his nightmares about the fire. David is surprised Paul hadn't told him about his memory loss.
LEO: Even so, Paul wouldn't have had anything to do with the day to day running of those factories. I mean, there's middle management for that.
DAVID: Are you saying someone else might be to blame?
LEO: Someone else must be, right?
AMY: I hope so, because the alternative's too awful to think about.
Mark is looking at pictures of himself and Paige on his phone when Elly arrives. She's dressed up but Mark doesn't want to go out any more. Elly tells him he's not hanging out like a sad sack and watching sci- fi on her watch. They start kissing.
