Previously
- Holly blackmailing her mum for stealing Karl's sperm sample.
- Paul not happy at confidential information being leaked to the press.
- Leo suggesting that they fight back with positive PR and has a suggestion on how to do that.
- Mark getting frustrated and kicking the footy which hits Gabe's pram (with him in it) and knocks it into the lake.
Lassiters Lake
Paige is extremely angry with Mark while Jack retrieves his son from the water and smothers him (well the dummy!) in blankets before they head to the hospital.
Harold's café
Rafael tries to suss Jayden out about the safety at Robinson Heights on the pretence that he is interested in buying there. Jayden refers him to Amy, but someone is curious to know why Rafael is asking questions about Paul being dodgy - Sue Parker. Jayden though refuses to do his mum's dirty work because Amy has given him an apprenticeship and he doesn't want to stuff that up.
The Waterhole
Although they've to wait 2 weeks for Izzy's donation to go through, Clive wants to get the ball rolling on the ground-breaking ceremony with his new Director of Research aka Karl! Karl though asks if they can discuss the fine stuff later as its Susan's birthday and he has arranged a surprise party for her (at The Waterhole).
Number 26 backyard
Susan though knows there is a party organised as she chats with Susan and Terese (Gary is using them as Guinea pigs for some new recipes). She is happy though that Karl is putting her first ahead of Izzy, and Terese suggests that Susan invites her to the birthday party, so she can't be ambushed (Susan knew Holly was invited but was certain that Izzy would gate crash).
Number 28 backyard
Elly is happy to hear Susan plans on staying away from the house to allow her and Karl to finalise the details for the party. Karl apologises to her for the tension in the house of late before they both head inside and confirms that he has no regrets about saying no either, he has everything he wants.
The Waterhole
Izzy is reminiscing at photos of the young Holly before being interrupted by Paul - he heard about her plan with Karl and suggests if she's looking to put down roots, she might be interested in a plot at Robinson Heights. "I'll let you know," is her polite way of saying no thanks. Paul then tries to get her secure David's position in the new wing.
IZZY: You're buttering up the wrong person, that's Karl's decision. You'll have to get down on your hands and knees to him. Oh actually, when you do, could you please let me know because I would love to see the almighty Paul Robinson grovel!
PAUL: You just remember - what goes around comes around.
After Paul departs, Rafael (who was of course subtly watching) asks Izzy if Paul was hassling her?
IZZY: Paul? That's him on a good day but you wouldn't want to cross him on a bad one.
RAFAEL: Oh really? What so, he's a friend?
IZZY: Enough of a friend to know where his skeletons are hidden, and believe me, he has some doozies.
Lassiters hotel
Izzy quickly stops pretending she is heavily pregnant when there is a knock on her hotel room door - its Susan coming to invite Izzy to the birthday party. "You want me to come?!" a surprised Izzy asks, and Susan replies it's for Holly's sake, plus the fact they will be in each other's lives when they set up a permanent home so need to get along. "I will be there," Izzy confirms and agrees with Susan's thoughts that they have to find a way of getting along with each other. After their farewells, both really show their true colours to them getting along with each other!!!
Hospital
David has finished checking Gabe over and the wee toot is good to go home. Paige though is still angry at what Mark did; coming on top of Louise taking him (we hear her trial is next week). Jack tries to calm her down, reminding her that it's still very raw for him.
Number 30
Toadie relays the news to Mark that Gabe is going to be fine, before asking what made him kick the ball like that. Mark confirms he wasn't going for the pram, but seeing Paige and Jack together, and how they looked at him (with pity) got to him and he lost it. He tries to explain that he thought letting Gabe have the family he deserved was the right thing to do, he didn't think that everyone would then feel sorry for him. "That's an awful position to be in," Toadie agrees and suggests that he comes along to Susan's surprise party to help take his mind off them.
The Waterhole
"Surprise," yell the invited guests as Susan puts on her fake surprise face as well as telling Karl that she had "no idea!" The cat is out of the bag (that she did know) when Izzy arrives (Karl wanted to send her packing) and Susan is forced to admit that she knew about the party, but Izzy's arrival shouldn't spoil what he has done for her.
It looks though like Izzy might be getting a better offer to escape the party - Mark suggesting they've unfinished business!
IZZY: You really are cute, but apart from that there's not much else to you though is there?
Izzy walks away, and Steph drags the poor man back to the table she's at with Toadie, still confused why he's still going after Izzy despite her repeated warnings! "Okay, it was stupid," Mark replies and thinks coming today was a bad idea too, but Steph tells him that he needs to process what has happened to allow himself to move on.
Harold's café
Sue approaches Rafael and after the intros, suggests that since it appears they both feel the same way about Paul, then they will be firm friends! He asks about Izzy and Sue confirms that they do have history and then tells him what rumours she knows - apparently Paul was the one who started the 2005 fire that destroyed Lassiters and the complex and Izzy's boyfriend Gus was killed. He wants to know why Paul wasn't jailed for it.
SUE: If you know anything about Paul Robinson, he's Mr Teflon, nothing sticks. Comes after justice is completely foreign to him.
Number 22
Mark returns the cleaned-up buggy and by way of an apology, a $100 gift voucher too to Paige. She confirms that the wee toot is fine, and Mark reaffirms that why he thought they split up for the right reasons, he didn't think it would hurt so much. In turn, she apologises and adds that its very early days for them too. Both agree its been a difficult day and Mark admits that he still loves he.
PAIGE: I really hate that I hurt you. There's nothing I can really do about that now.
Lassiters Complex
David spots Rafael sitting and does the intros with Paul. Paul invites him along to the family celebration (stage 1 of Robinson Heights has been sold) and after he can't come up with a reasonable excuse to get out of it (plus some begging from David) agrees to it.
(Later)
With the new info about the 2005Lassiters fire, Rafael is begging someone on the phone to re-open the investigation into the factory fire that killed his mum but from the huge sigh, it appears they aren't interested.
Harold's café
Rafael meets up with Sue, frustrated that nobody is taking his claims about Paul seriously.
RAFAEL: I've tried everything to get people to listen, nothings worked. Have you got any ideas?
SUE: I'm sure I can come up with something.
She invites him to join her at the table she is sitting at and someone doesn't look too happy at them chatting - Jayden who has just walked into the café.
The Waterhole
It would appear despite not being around, Izzy knows all of what Andrea did to Toadie as they chat in the bar! Toadie just shakes his head as he turns around to listen to Karl's speech.
KARL: Darling, you are my soulmate and my best friend. Happy birthday dear Susan.
Clive rushes in to talk to Karl as he hasn't responded to the messages left for him. He explains that there is an issue with one of his samples - its missing!
CLIVE: We think it's been taken from the hospital.
KARL: Taken?! How can it be taken?
Clive explains that a staff member let someone into the storage area and when they went back in, discovered that the sample was missing. "Who would be let into such a sensitive area?" asks Karl and Clive explains that the woman claimed that "she was a major donor for the wing."
Number 22
Jack reports that Gabe is still sleeping and ask to pass on their birthday wishes to Susan as Terese and Gary are about to head off to her party (they've decided not to go).
Alone, Paige tells Jack of Mark's visit - that he apologised and feels terrible. "We knew it wouldn't be easy," Jack reminds her and acknowledge also that it's going to be hard for Steph, so both agree to his suggestion about keeping they keep it to themselves.
The Waterhole
Karl immediately rushes over to confront Izzy. He asks if she took his sample, but she stalls giving a reply so long, that Susan comes over to see what is going on. He quickly brings his wife up to speed before angrily re-asking if she took his sample. Brazenfaced, she acknowledges that she took it and says that she can't return it either, because it's too late, and starts rubbing her stomach suggestively as they stare dumbfounded!
Unmissable drama
- Susan still shocked.
- Elly asking if Karl wants Izzy to be pregnant?
- Paul glad Rafael has come to dinner.
- David asking Rafael what is wrong?
- Elly finding a positive pregnancy test.
- Susan finding a use for her birthday cake... splatting it on Izzy's face!!!
