- Sheila tells Joanne that she's doing a one- man sketch.
- Sheila decides to drop out of the variety show.
- Mishti is pursuing the check- in time alibi at the hotel.
- Paul tells Terese that he has a mate that can make the glitch look real.
- Yashvi innocently invites Angie to visit and come to the variety show, too!
Toadie and Sonya have been enjoying hanging out watching TV. Toadie says they'd better get ready for the show - but they do have half an hour spare. They laugh raucously and start kissing.
Yashvi doesn't understand why Toadie hasn't just told Angie that he's back with Sonya. Shane tells her that the "Christmas Party" is actually a vow renewal for them.
DIPI: Yeah, so when Nana gets here and goes nuts...
SHANE: It's going to put a bit of a dampener on things.
Shane and Dipi decide to go round to No.30 to talk to Toadie. As they're leaving, Xanthe and Sheila come in. They tells her how excited Kirsha is about Sheila's act and Sheila feels that she can't drop out after all. Xanthe is very pleased.
Paul tells Terese and Gary that his IT guy has sorted things out. They bicker, and Paul strops off. Gary tells Terese that they should just ignore Paul and cut him out of their lives.
Shane and Dipi are banging on the windows, trying to alert Toadie and Sonya to Angie's arrival. Just then, Angie arrives!
SHANE: Oh no.
DIPI: Right. You cut her off at the pass and take her inside. I'm going to stay here and let them know. Go, go!
Shane rushes up to Angie's car and greets her enthusiastically. Angie is her usual charming self(!) and Shane invites her in for a cuppa.
ANGIE: What's Dipi doing over at Sonya's place? Don't tell me that she's still talking to her. Not after all the pain she put our Jarrod through.
SHANE: I don't know, Mum. Could be about anything! Come inside.
Dipi can't get an answer, so comes over to greet Angie too. Just then, Toadie opens the door, closely followed by Sonya. They are shocked to see Angie there.
ANGIE: Jarrod Vincenzo Rebecchi! What on Earth are you doing, fraternising with that woman?
Dipi, Shane and Yashvi are apologising to Sonya for Angie's presence. Yashvi says maybe Angie will be loving and forgiving because it's Christmas(!)
ANGIE:(raging) You are a fool to take that woman back, Toadie, a fool!
TOADIE: Mum, please.
ANGIE: What, I'm not supposed to say anything? Despite all the pain she caused you?
TOADIE: I caused her pain, too! I'm not the innocent victim, here.
ANGIE: Well, if we're going to make a pie chart of who did what to who, she'd have a whole circle and you'd have a tiny little sliver.
TOADIE: But we are not going to point score, Mum! The point is, is that we both did something wrong. We both acknowledged it and we have both worked through it. Isn't that what's important for Nell?
Yashvi lets slip that she knows about the vow renewal.
SONYA: Wait, how do you know about the vow renewal?!
They awkwardly tell her that Steph had to tell them to stop them going to Colac for Christmas. Sonya says it doesn't matter - now that Angie's in town, it's all off. They tell her that she can't let Angie ruin her plans.
ANGIE: Well, if it's so wonderful being back with Sonya, why didn't you tell me you'd already done it?
TOADIE: Because I knew you'd carry on like a pork chop! But you're not, you're worse than that! You're like the full roast, crackling and all!
ANGIE: Excuse me! I am your mother. And I am Nell's grandmother. And I have a right to know these things!
TOADIE:(getting cross) Alright, fine, I should have told you. But you're here now. So I'm telling it to you straight. I love Sonya more than anything. So if you can't accept that, you just hop back in your car and fang it back to Colac. The choice is yours.
Xanthe tells Terese and Susan that Sheila is still in the variety show, despite Joanne Schwartz getting to her. She explains that Joanne is Sheila's high school bully. Xanthe is excited that Ben is coming to Frankston for Christmas (and then back to the Kennedys in the evening to Skype to Holly and Izzy)
SUSAN: Because it's what we do.
BEN: But Izzy does your head in!
Susan shrugs. Terese heads off. On the way out, Paul mocks her for not having an engagement ring yet. He tells her that his renovations to the penthouse are approved, and he's organised a real estate agency to take over the running of the Eclipse Apartments. Terese rolls her eyes and tells him he can't keep springing meetings on her. Then she changes her mind and just flounces off.
Dipi's variety act is in full swing. Everyone claps her dancing.
At a table, Angie moans at Dipi for not telling her that Sonya and Toadie were back together.
DIPI: Look, Angie, it really wasn't my place.
ANGIE: Whatever. Now, all we have to do is convince Toadie he's making a big mistake.
Dipi rolls her eyes.
ANGIE: I mean, we both know it will never work out.
Dipi just walks off. Toadie is introducing Sheila's act. As she takes the stage, Joanne come in and starts laughing hysterically at her. Sheila charges from the stage. Toadie hastily introduces Karl as the next act.
In the office, Sheila tells Susan that she can't face Joanne. Susan gives her a pep talk and tells her she must stand up to Joanne.
Later, the child dancer (Jonathan) is doing his stuff. Kirsha tells Ben that she wishes she could hear the music.
Sheila takes the stage next and this time, manages to do her performance. She says that her show is called "All The Things I Should Have Said"
ANGIE: Of course, Toadie would probably argue that Nell is better off with both parents. I mean, normally, I'd agree with that, but...
DIPI: OK, enough. I can't take this anymore.
DIPI: No talking. Just listen. You're wrong about this.
ANGIE: Oh, come on.
DIPI: No, look, Angie. I've done their star charts. They're meant to be together.
ANGIE: Oh, what, till the next time Sonya drops her bundle and runs off?
DIPI: If you doubt Sonya's commitment, then you should know that at this Christmas Party, she's organised a surprise voew renewal for Toadie.
ANGIE: Vow renewal?
DIPI: Yeah. And you weren't even meant to be invited because we all knew you'd ruin it. Which makes me wonder what else you won't be invited to. Toadie's 40th? Callum's 21st? And what if Toadie and Sonya have another baby?
ANGIE:(shocked) I can't miss anything! I'm the Nana!
DIPI: Yes. But if you can't accept Sonya, you're the one who's missing out.
This gives Angie cause to think.
Sheila is finishing her act, which has gone very well! As she goes down from the stage, she sees that Joanne's chair is empty.
Everyone congratulates Sheila. Xanthe says she saw Joanne go into the bathroom and Sheila goes to investigate. She finds Joanne in tears.
JOANNE: You were right about me. I'm a horrible, horrible person and I hate myself for it.
SHEILA: Really? Then when be like it?
JOANNE: Because I've always been jealous of you.
SHEILA: Oh, you're pretending, just to save face in front of everybody.
JOANNE: No. You were so popular at school. You're funny and smart. Everybody like you. I just wanted a bit of it.
SHEILA: Well, you got more than a bit of it! You got everything.
JOANNE: I didn't get everything. You got Frank. The minute he learned how you felt about him, he dropped me like a hot potato. And there you are, up on stage, with all your friends and family cheering you on. You've got it all, Sheila, not me.
SHEILA:(surprised) Well, that's very big of you to admit that. But do you think you could admit now that you were the one who was supposed to get the Daddy Cool tickets? Cos that's where it all started.
JOANNE: Oh, alright. I admit it. I was supposed to get the tickets, but I got distracted with my Knitting Nancy and forgot all about it.
SHEILA: But that's a kids' toy!
JOANNE: I know. Why do you think I blamed you. I lied and said you were supposed to get the tickets and you got so upset. Everything got out of hand and the next thing I knew, we weren't friends anymore.
SHEILA: I can't believe I left school over a Knitting Nancy(!)
JOANNE: You know, if Daddy Cool was still around, I would buy you front row tickets righ tnow to make up for it.
SHEILA: Well, I don't know about the rest of the band...but Ross Wilson still does gigs. So maybe you could take me to one of those instead?
JOANNE: You'd do that?
JOANNE: With me?
SHEILA: Mmm. Just leave the Knitting Nancy at home, OK?
They both laugh.
Gary is telling Terese about Sheila's act, but she is distracted. She tells him that she's exhausted from constantly dealing with Paul. Gary tells her to just leave her job, but Terese insists she's not doing that.
GARY: If you can't ignore it, what else can you do?
TERESE: I'll think of something.
Sonya comes home and is surprised to see Angie there.
SONYA: What are you doing here?
ANGIE: I don't want to miss Toadie's 40th or Callum's 21st or Nell's next birthday!
SONYA: What are you going on about?
ANGIE: Me...and you. And the issues I have with you.
SONYA: OK, look, if you've come here to fight, you can actually just leave, cos I don't have the time. I don't have the energy for it, Angie.
ANGIE: No. No, you have to hear me out.
ANGIE: If I've got issues with you, it's because you've got the power to break my boy's heart. And when that happens, it breaks my heart too.
SONYA: You...look, you're a fiercely protective mother, Angie, and I get that, OK? But Jarrod and I made the decision to get back together and that wasn't made lightly. And it was our decision to make and you don't get a say in it.
ANGIE: I know that. I understand.
SONYA: You do?
ANGIE: And to prove it, I want you to go ahead with your vow renewal at the Christmas Party.
SONYA: How do you know about that?!
ANGIE: I want to be there to support Toadie and you and not ruin everything.
ANGIE: Cross my heart.
SONYA: Well...I mean, you know that this is a surprise for Jarrod? Yeah? So you cannot say anything, alright? Nothing.
Angie zips her lip shut with her finger to indicate that she won't.
Sheila tells Gary and Xanthe that she and Joanne have made up. Terese has apparently gone to see Paul.
TERESE: I'm here to tell you that our working relationship is untenable. Your rudeness, your unfairness, your underhandedness. I can't deal with it anymore.
PAUL: You're not quitting?
TERESE: God, no! Worked way too hard for that. No, you're going to find me a new investor, and then you're going to quit.
Paul laughs, derisively.
PAUL: And why would I?
TERESE: Because if you don't, I'm going to the police and I'm going to tell them about your small software issue.
PAUL: Whyever would you do that?
TERESE: You've got more to lose than I do. And with your track record, you don't want to go back to jail, do you?
Paul looks very serious.
