Number 22
Xanthe and Ben are fussing over Piper after her panic attack but she asks them to leave; she just wants to be alone.
The Handy Woman
Elly is helping Amy at the yard but Amy catches her on Tinder on her phone.
AMY: What happened to the pact?
ELLY: I'm just window shopping!
Elly says she's become an addict and Amy tells her she's going cold turkey.
ELLY: It's like this. I decide to cut out bread, right? And it's fine. I've gone ages before without bread. But now that I've specifically decided I cannot eat bread, all I want is bread!
AMY: Physical exhaustion... and no, not the type you're thinking about! Why don't we go and do one of Aaron's hardcore classes? What is it, "the Power Hour?"
ELLY: I've heard people cry taking that class!
Number 26
Sheila is rehearsing her act "All the Things I Should Have Said" in front of Dipi, Karl and Susan.
SHEILA: When I was growing up the one thing I wanted more than anything was to be a mermaid so I could sit on the beach and eat fish and chips with the seagulls and run away from all my problems. But I realise now that, one, mermaids are not very good at running away, and two, I have nothing to run away from any more. I have a lovely home, a really lovely family, and a pair of smoking hot legs that I wouldn't trade for all the fish in the sea.
Dipi and Susan love it but Karl is less than impressed.
SUSAN: Well don't just sit there like you're constipated! Say something.
KARL: I... I... I thought it was very... promising. And you've obviously got a lot of raw talent and enthusiasm.
SUSAN: Is this because Sheila made a few jokes about you?
KARL: Seven is not a few!
Karl points out she skipped over the bit about her high school but Sheila says it's not important and clams up. Sheila goes to make drinks and Susan remembers that Sheila didn't finish high school.
The Shed
The Power Hour finishes and Amy and Elly are exhausted.
AMY: I bet your brain's switched off.
ELLY: Maybe we should have gone somewhere a little less... sweaty... fit men!
Aaron tells Elly she looks pretty hot, all sweaty like that. They fall into each others arms and start kissing... but it's in Elly's imagination of course.
AARON: Do you need some water or something?
ELLY: I need bread! Bread! Sorry!
Harold's Café
Ben and Xanthe are discussing Piper's panic attack. Xanthe has read that one attack can breed more. Terese comes in, and Xanthe thinks they should tell her but Ben says they promised not to. Xanthe says if this is serious her family should know. They approach Terese.
Number 22
Terese sits down with Piper who says they shouldn't have told her. She feels like a freak for how she reacted. When she jumped in the pool she suddenly felt like she was drowning. Terese suggests a counsellor; what about Jack?
Harold's Café
Elly is ogling pictures of Ryan Gosling in a magazine. Amy tells her the pact is about putting themselves first and reminds her she said she didn't need a man when Ned left. She wonders if Elly has problems being in her own company and asks if she likes herself. Elly says not really. Amy suggests a solo date.
AMY: Give it a go. Because I reckon you'll find that Elly Conway is pretty darn terrific.
Elly asks herself out... but tells herself not to expect any action!
Number 22
Jack has arrived and Piper tells him how the water brought everything back. She didn't think she was going to make it. The attack didn't make any sense and she couldn't fight it. She's worried it's going to happen again. Jack gives her some tips for focusing on her breathing and trying to stay in the moment; she can get through this.
Number 26
Karl is still talking about Sheila's act (still? Piper's had an entire counselling session since then!).
KARL: I don't know if you should refer to Kyle as a Bogan though! It's just so...
SUSAN: Apt?
KARL: Politicized, that's all. Although I loved that story about him in high school. Not that you even really need to mention high school much. You know, it's really overrated.
SUSAN: Karl, stop talking about high school!
KARL: I thought I was emphasizing how much I wasn't.
SUSAN: Shouldn't you be getting home and starting dinner?
KARL: I've still got some notes!
SUSAN: Email them!
SHEILA (after Karl leaves): He will email them, too. I should adjust my spam settings!
Dipi and Susan want to know what the deal is with Sheila and high school, and the Joanne Schwartz whom she mentioned. Sheila reveals Joanne was her best friend until they fell out. Joanne knew Sheila liked Frank and invited him to the school dance. Things got so nasty that Sheila left school. They have clearly touched a nerve.
Number 22
Piper tells Terese, Xanthe and Ben about her session with Jack. She asks them not to tell Tyler about it as he's got enough going on. Ben and Xanthe leave and Piper tells Terese to go back to work. Terese leaves and Piper starts having another attack. She tries to breathe through it.
The Terrace
Terese comes across Elly having dinner for one and confides that she loves going to the movies alone.
Number 26
It's dark outside and Susan and Dipi are still at Sheila's. Susan offers the school for rehearsal space. Dipi can't believe a fall out with a friend made Sheila quit school. Sheila talks about how she was bullied and Susan asks what happened to Joanne but Sheila doesn't know; just talking about her makes her feel sick.
The Terrace
Amy arrives to escort Elly home. Elly has had a great time and wants to go to the movies alone too. Amy gets a phone call from Warrinor prison; Nick wants to talk to her.
Number 26
Xanthe arrives home and sees Dipi is searching for Joanne Schwartz on Facebook. Isn't Sheila curious?
SHEILA: Maybe from time to time I fantasize about her, I dunno... living under a bridge like a troll or in a dark jail or being Donald Trump's hairdresser!
Dipi thinks it would help round off Sheila's performance and would be cathartic but Sheila would rather speak to a monkey's bum!
The Terrace
Amy finishes speaking to Nick and tells Elly that a top barrister has offered to represent Nick at his next hearing; apparently someone is footing the bill. Nick wants Amy to visit him tomorrow so they can talk about their future. Amy doesn't know what to do.
Unmissable Drama
- Leo tells Amy that Nick poisoned Paul
- Ben plays guitar with Kirsha, and David says they're looking for any indication of auditory improvement
- Xanthe tells Sheila she's already contacted Joanne
- Sheila says hello to Joanne
