- Toadie asks what's going on and Sonya says she's catching up with her old friend Sam but Toadie says Sam's his psychologist
Sonya tells Toadie she didn't know Sam was his psychologist and Sam says he didn't know Sonya was Toadie's wife until this afternoon. They met when Sonya was in rehab. Toadie wants to know if they kept in touch but they haven't seen each other for ten years. Toadie is upset about having opened up to Sam; clearly he can't see him any more. He walks out and Sonya asks Sam why he didn't tell her as soon as he realised.
Hamish is on the phone to Louise telling her everything's going to plan. So long as Mark and Tyler stay at odds and he deals with Tyler's girlfriend he's certain he'll come away with them. Jack and Hamish bump into each other, causing Hamish to drop his phone. Hamish explodes at Jack and leaves.
Sonya is telling Steph that Toadie jumped to the worst possible conclusion. She isn't happy that Sam will know about her relapse and everything with Mark. Steph wonders if Sonya is worried Sam won't think of her the same way romantically; after all, she had his photos out the other day. Sonya protests but Steph makes her admit there's a connection.
The next morning, the complex renovations are taking place. Mark runs into Tyler and wants to clear the air with him but Tyler is busy with Hamish. He's going for his boat licence but considering postponing until he knows what name to put on the licence; he's thinking of changing his surname. Mark is horrified.
MARK: You're a Brennan. I mean, maybe not by blood but you're my brother.
TYLER: We'd still by brothers.
MARK: Ty, changing your surname is a huge deal.
TYLER: I'm just playing around with the idea, but bottom line is I'm not a Brennan.
Toadie is giving Steph the third degree about Sam and Sonya. Steph tells him there were some feelings there but Sam moved to Israel before Sonya got out of rehab. Toadie worries they've been thinking about each other all this time.
TOADIE: Do you think that he tracked her down?
STEPH: There are easier ways to reconnect with someone than becoming their estranged husband's psychologist!
Toadie wonders if Sam had worked out that Sonya is his wife and fed him bad advice like delaying their reconciliation. He told him a lot of stuff that Sam could use against him. Steph assures Toadie that Sonya isn't going to act on any attraction because she still loves him.
Toadie meets Sam and questions him over his advice to pull back and whether he is going to use what he's told him to make a move on Sonya. Sam is offended and tells Toadie not to insult his professional integrity. He admits he had feelings for Sonya. Toadie wants to know if he still has them but Sam doesn't know.
Jack is cleaning the reception desk when Steph returns from servicing a room for the last time. She is excited about turning the place into the wellness centre. She appreciates Jack's support and they kiss. Hamish arrives with Tyler to show him around. Steph introduces Hamish to Jack and Hamish doesn't recognise him from the Waterhole. Hamish tells Steph she should have his donation in about a week; his accountant is minimising the CGT implications. Jack looks suspicious.
Mark and Aaron discuss Tyler changing his name. Mark thinks Hamish must have suggested it but Aaron thinks Mark is taking everything too personally and Hamish is not the enemy. Mark thinks there's something off about the guy but Aaron says if that's true Tyler will see it. He doesn't want to push him away or they might lose him.
Steph says they would like to become a dispensary for medicinal cannabis for reducing the side effects of chemotherapy. Jack says it could discourage potential donors. Hamish gets a message and Jack says he's glad his phone is still alright. Hamish realises it was Jack he bumped into and apologises for being so rude; he had a lot on his mind. Jack says the wellness centre must have been one of them. He points out that Steph and Amy's livelihood depends on the timely receipt of donations and grills him over how capital gains tax applies. Steph tries to stop Jack but Hamish says Jack is right to be concerned. He transfers $5,000 now from his phone (in about two seconds) to get the ball rolling.
Sonya meets Sam, wanting to check in with him after last night. She thinks they can still be friends but Sam doesn't want to cause more trouble with Toadie. Sonya has to get back to the nursery and Sam says he thought she would end up working with plants.
SAM: It was that time we took a walk by the river and you could tell me the genus of all the wildflowers that were in bloom.
SONYA: Yes, actually that's when I got the bee sting on my ankle.
SAM: Yeah, I remember.
SONYA: And you offered to... pee on me!
SAM: No, I didn't actually say those words!
SONYA: No, you did!
SAM: No I didn't, I said I could offer an unorthodox method of pain relief!
They laugh as they reminisce. Sam says he had three months of physio after carrying her but he guesses she was worth it. He asks if he can walk her and Sonya says yes.
Jack has gone to talk to Mark about Hamish as he's worried about Steph. He tells Mark about what happened at the Waterhole and how Hamish is using business speak to avoid actually handing over a cheque. Mark tells Jack to leave it with him.
Hamish is on the boat, looking at nautical charts of Indonesia and talking on the phone. He asks Louise if she can get the credit limit raised; they'll be long gone by the time the bill arrives. Mark arrives and Hamish quickly hides the charts. Mark asks for a chat.
Jack returns and Steph is annoyed with him for giving her main donor the third degree. Jack says Hamish was weird about the tax thing and he's worried he won't come through with the money. He suggests Steph keep taking guests and put off the contractors but Steph trusts Hamish and asks Jack to trust her judgement.
Mark and Hamish make small talk until Mark raises the wellness centre. Hamish asks why he's really here; for Tyler's sake they have to put what happened behind them. Mark says Tyler is the one who is hurting and tells Hamish he's thinking of changing his surname. Hamish says he had no idea but it makes sense as Tyler is his son.
MARK: He's been your son for about three weeks. I've been his brother for over 20 years.
HAMISH: We can both love Tyler without it becoming a competition.
Hamish goes to make another cuppa and Mark looks suspiciously at the compartment when Hamish stashed the charts.
Toadie arrives and Sonya says she's been worried about him but thought he needed space. She assures him that Sam won't breathe a word about their sessions. Toadie wants to know if Sonya still has feelings for him as Steph has told him what she said. Sonya says she thought he'd got past this kind of jealous behaviour; maybe he was right about them needing a bit more space.
Mark has found the charts and questions Hamish. Hamish says they must have been Russell's and Mark wants to see if he had anything else lying around but Hamish won't let him go inside. Mark pushes past and Hamish pretends to fall and be knocked unconscious. Mark calls an ambulance while Hamish glances up at him.
Toadie apologises to Steph for landing her in it. He says he can't object to Sonya seeing Sam after what he's put her through but it doesn't make it any easier to accept. Steph says what Sonya and Sam had couldn't have been very deep for her not to have mentioned him before. Toadie is terrified of losing her.
Aaron and Tyler arrive and Tyler wants to know what happened and why Mark went to see Hamish in the first place. He accuses him of going to have a crack at Hamish. He tells Mark Hamish doesn't deserve to be treated like this and walks off.
