- Leo warning Nick he's watching him after finding out what he is up to.
- Steph going to find a way to make sure the wellness centre works.
- Leo spotting that Amy spent the night with Nick.
Lassiters hotel corridor
Leo quizzes his sister about spending the night with Nick and her attitude is that it doesn't concern him (and likewise Paul or Jimmy), in fact she wants them to forget they've even had this conversation!
Penthouse suite
Amy thanks Paul for babysitting Jimmy when she (and Leo) enter the suite although Jimmy was more than happy to hang out with his granddad.
As its Father's Day, Amy offers Jimmy the option to call his dad but its immediately rejected. David hands over his and Leo's pressie to Paul - photos of them as kids. Paul apologises for not being there when they were growing up but reassures them that he is there for them now and it's great that they can all love and support each other despite their differences.
Number 32
"Brekkie was certainly something," is Shane's polite way of describing his breakfast that the girls have obviously made. They have something else for him too - the start of a bush ballad.
Meanwhile, Toadie asks Nell not to write him a bush ballad! Soya briefly arrives so Nell can present her dad with his card (she forgot to take it with her) and Shane remarks that perhaps next year he'll be at his own home celebrating the day.
Harold's Cafe
Aaron admits that unlike his brothers, he carries the playing card from Russell around with him, and is curious to know who has the missing card. Tyler most definitely isn't curious and even Mark looks somewhat subdued so Aaron suggests keeping all dad related things off the table and wants to rename the day 'Brothers Day' instead! It's still not doing anything for Tyler, so he leaves them to it, wanting to spend the day instead by himself. Mark has similar feelings to Tyler, he's going to pretend the day doesn't exist.
Meanwhile, Jack shows off his Father's Day pressie to Steph - a 'Best Dad' mug from Gabe. She turns down the invite to join them as she's got to see Paul but might catch up with him later. Before she leaves, she tells him about how things went with Dan - he was okay with what happened (as she was honest and upfront about what happened) and she can still see Adam and plans on flying up to Sydney to see him soon. He's glad she is starting to tick things off her list and in return, she thanks him for suggesting it.
Penthouse suite
Amy and Leo clear up after the family have finished brekkie, trading polite insults with each other that thankfully nobody else is picking up the context they are being said in. Paul is happy at how the day is going, just what he needed after dealing with Terese, Gary and Nick... until David tells him the grapevine has it that Nick has found somewhere in Erinsborough for his wellness centre.
PAUL: Who in their right mind would help that man set up such a thing?!
AMY: Does every conversation we have in our family have to come back to Nick?
LEO: Yes, maybe we should drop it.
Paul agrees to but warns his family to not let Leo not to drop his guard around Nick and doubly for Amy.
LEO: I'm pretty sure that ships sailed.
DAVID: Ahem...
PAUL: What's that supposed to mean?
Leo refuses to answer, so instead he turns to look at Amy and asks if she's been spending time with Nick again but before she replies, she gets Jimmy to head to his room.
PAUL: Well?
AMY: Okay, there's no easy way to say this... Me and Nick are seeing each other.
Paul is literally speechless as we head into the commercial break!
(Later)
And commercial break later he's barely calmed down and doesn't seem to believe Amy saying that things between them have only just happened. He calls her "clueless" about Nick after the penny drops that is who she was with overnight. Paul, aided by Leo, think that Nick will be gloating and laughing behind her back over what's happened. She doesn't think that and tries to tell him that "the Nick I know is not the same person who hurt you."
PAUL: Your naivety is utterly gobsmacking!
David tries to back his sister up especially as Nick hasn't put a foot wrong during Terese's treatment. Steph arrives to hear Leo earn his dad's wrath for keeping quiet and Amy pleading with her dad to not take his anger out on everyone else. At that point, Steph decides that perhaps she will come back later but is told to "spit it out."
STEPH: Fine. I umm... I want to buy you out of the motel.
Number 28
With Karl busy with the liveability committee, he is happy to lend Kirsha his guitar but sadly no earplugs for Yashvi!
The girls are curious when the K's head into their bedroom after getting a call and Ben explains that's where they head when Mal, Holly or Billy call so that he doesn't feel awkward because its Father's Day.
BEN: They mean well but hiding it from me doesn't make it go away.
Penthouse suite
Steph tries to explain to Paul why she wants to buy him out, especially the fact that their interests are changing. She is still annoyed at him for losing the Gordon Food contract to Lassiters even though Paul tries to say they will now owe the motel.
STEPH: Paul, we've been through so much together, and our relationship does mean a lot to me, but it is time for me to be my own boss again and to follow my own dreams.
He seems to get that but is curious to know how she can run the motel herself and she replies that obviously she will get help but plans on taking it in a whole new direction. Paul refuses to let her pay back the money in instalments but its more because he can sense she isn't telling him everything.
STEPH: I want to use the motel premises to help Nick set up his wellness centre.
Paul can't believe what she's said, and thinks he's lost something else to Nick but she tries to get through to him that it's a good cause and that she really believes in it. She adds that she wishes there was something like this when she was sick.
PAUL: Steph, I thought you were smarter than this.
STEPH: What?
PAUL: The man played you knowing that you'd be susceptible because of your history.
Steph denies his accusation, she wanted to be involved way before she told him about her cancer battle.
PAUL: Either way, I'm not selling.
STEPH: Well you know I can buy you and Leo out whether you like it or not?
PAUL: Fine, alright but you have to pay me full market price upfront.
The Waterhole
After putting some flowers on the bar, Sonya makes a beeline for Tyler to see how he is going. He admits he was never a fan of the day before but this year feels even more confusing. She reassures him that he will come out of this 'transition period', which earns her a hug before she leaves.
While they've been talking, some guy at the bar has been watching them and with Sonya away, he makes his way over to challenge Tyler to a game of pool.
Harold's Cafe
"Well, my timing was impeccable," Steph remarks when she enters the café and spots Amy and Jack sitting at a table. Amy admits she'd have kept quiet about Nick if she'd known what Steph was going to talk to Paul about. "I'm still happy for you," Steph tells he friend but Amy wishes it hadn't come at the expense of her relationship with Paul. Jack wonders if this means an end to the centre going ahead and it might, unless Steph can come up with an alternative way to pay Paul and Leo off.
Number 28
While Ben gives Kirsha her guitar lesson, Yashvi (who wanted to hang out with him) gets a text from Freya asking if she's anymore pics of Ben. Karl takes Kirsha away to make a durian and banana smoothie and Yashvi comments that his inventing reminds her of her dad. She then realises that she is perhaps being insensitive but Ben is fine and admits that it's actually the build up to the day that is worse.
BEN: It's like I'm standing in the water and there's this massive wave coming at me and I just wish I could dive under and come out the other side.
He does though say that Karl is a good substitute but admits that he isn't quite the same as having a real dad when it comes to talking about things like school, girls and the future. After another hassling text from Freya, Yashvi puts her foot in it big style when she lets slip that sometimes when her dad is on her back she wishes he would drop dead.
Harold's Cafe
Yashvi is telling her mum about her slip up and is reassured that he will forgive her. "Maybe he shouldn't," as she is such a bad friend and Dipi deduces something else has happened. Yashvi comes clean about not correcting the rumour going around school that they are dating but when she admits she doesn't want it to be true, Dipi urges her to set them straight. The lass is caught in a quandary though as it feels good being sophisticated and not "a dumb country girl who fell for some troll."
YASHVI: I never cared about being one of the cool girls, but now I am, I just...
DIPI: If feels good?
YASHVI: You think I'm being silly?
DIPI: No. I understand but I do think you should tell Ben what's going on.
Number 28
Ben is also talking about what happened to Karl and his take is that perhaps she likes him? He immediately dismisses that suggestion but Karl points out that Yashvi did the same thing with Evan too.
KARL: Maybe she's got a crush on you?
Number 30
Jack tries to reassure Steph that things will sort themselves out with Paul after she admitted to being a bit down over how things happened. He tries to downplay his role in helping her with her goals and earns a somewhat surprising kiss from her.
JACK: So, this how you thank your friends that try to help?
STEPH: Only the important ones. I enjoy spending time with you Jack Callaghan.
JACK: Me too Stephanie Scully.
STEPH: Look, I know I put the brakes on us but maybe we should give it another go? Without any expectations!
"I'm okay with that," he replies and to help convince her, suggests they do more kissing than talking!
The Waterhole
The stranger is impressed at how good Tyler is and asks who taught him and after momentarily forgetting, replies "the guy I grew up with." Mr Stranger empathises with Tyler, his dad was "a right piece of work who made his life hell" and both agree that "being a dad doesn't make you a good guy." Tyler explains that the girl he was talking to earlier isn't his girlfriend, just a friend who has been close to his family in recent months especially with his brother. It then dawns on Tyler why Mark was down and he rushes off leaving Mr Stranger somewhat confused!
Penthouse suite
Leo seems to be taking Steph's news a lot calmer than his dad's although thinks she will have trouble getting the cash. Paul thinks that Nick will come up with the money, Steph is going to be merely the front for it, because he wants to be a doctor again. Leo doesn't think so as he won't get re-registered but Paul thinks he will just do things under the radar.
PAUL: If I am right, it's only a matter of time before he hurts someone else including Amy. And we can't let that happen.
Number 28
Yashvi returns to the backyard and apologises to Ben for what she said earlier and wants to say something to him uninterrupted.
YASHVI: Okay, so you're my best mate at Erinsborough and all you've ever done is be there for me every time I get myself into stuff, you're always there to bail me out. You're the best guy I know and Evan, he was a loser and you were there through all of that and...
BEN: You can stop. I know what you're trying to say.
YASHVI: I don't think you do.
BEN: We're mates.
YASHVI: Yes, and I just never want to ruin that but I have to tell you something.
BEN: It's okay, I feel the same way.
Much to Yashvi's surprise, Ben leans forward and kisses her. Oops awkward!!!
Number 24
Aaron and Tyler apologise to Mark for not thinking earlier about how he'd be feeling today although he admits that it only just came to him the night before.
The stranger from the bar turns up at the house and Tyler wonders why he is here.
MR STRANGER: This isn't exactly how I'd planned this.
TYLER: (bemused) Planned what?
MR STRANGER: I was going to try and explain things to you down at the pub but you left too fast. I'm a friend of your mothers.
Mark and Aaron's interest has now been piqued and they make their way over to the door where Tyler is still standing talking to Mr Stranger.
MR STRANGER: I don't know whether she every spoke about me. My name is Hamish Roche.
TYLER: You're my father?!
