Shane is telling Dipi the full story; he had gone to a farming convention in Sydney and stayed at Mishti's place. It was shortly after Mishti had learned that the man who killed Xander was going to walk free.
SHANE: She went out and hooked up with some random, and then she came home, and she went berserk. Screaming, crying, smashing the place up. Threatening to get justice her own way. And then she grabbed her service weapon. And I had to stop her from leaving and doing something stupid. Eventually she wore herself out and fell asleep. And then the next morning she woke up, and she was really embarrassed. And that's when she decided to leave the force.
DIPI: Is this why she paid you all that money from her trauma payout? To keep you quiet?
SHANE: No, it wasn't like that. But yeah, part of the deal was I couldn't tell you anything about it.
Shane admits she's worried the same pattern is emerging with Mishti now. After she hit Tyler with the car she hooked up with another random. It could be unrelated, or a sign that something's wrong.
SHANE: Seeing Tyler on the ground like that - it would have brought back all kinds of bad memories (...) I just hope she understands why I've told you.
Paul's Penthouse
Amy is gossiping to Paul about all the recent drama with the Brennans. She has to get ready to take Jimmy to hospital for a check-up since his spleen removal, and Paul mentions that Terese might be there having her therapy. He's still upset that Terese has asked him to stay away, and about Nick helping to treat her, despite Amy pointing out that David thinks Nick's above board.
Steph turns up, keen to sort out some admin for the motel that is overdue. But Paul is too busy reading the positive articles that the West Waratah Star has been running about Nick and his wellness centre. Steph remarks that she thinks the centre is a really good idea.
PAUL: I'm not opposed to the centre. I'm opposed to the man running it.
STEPH: You've got every right to feel the way you do. But maybe just concentrate on the bigger picture. The wellness centre could be really good for people. And doesn't the greater good warrant giving Nick benefit of the doubt? Look at all the prejudice I got when I got out of prison. Most of all coming from you, I might add. And look - now we're in business together.
PAUL: Yeah, but that's different.
STEPH: No it's not. It's not like you've never seen the inside of a jail cell.
Steph proceeds to tell Paul that a company called Gordon Foods, which is apparently massive, is looking for regular low-cost accommodation in Erinsborough - which could be a game-changer for the motel if Steph can secure the business. Paul looks pleasantly surprised.
Erinsborough Hospital
Jack is at the hospital with Gabe, visiting some of his ex-parishioners, while Gary and Paige are also in reception, waiting for Terese. Nick and Terese emerge - her therapy is going smoothly, he explains.
Gary wants to cook up lunch, but Terese is keen for her and Paige to get back to the hotel to sort out the audit, as Jasmine Udagawa is due any minute. She does request some of his fresh pasta, though.
The Shed
Mishti is hosting a workout session with a load of extras. Leo turns up - Mishti hasn't been returning his calls or messages, and he wants to apologise for what he said the other day about Xander.
LEO: I had no right to make assumptions about your personality or your past. And if I upset you or brought up bad memories, I'm sorry. Do you maybe want to grab dinner to make up for it?
But before she can answer, Mishti gets a text from Shane, asking her to come home as Dipi knows everything. Mishti rushes off, leaving Leo looking worried.
Lassiter's
Terese and Paige are working in the office when Paul turns up. He tells Terese he has a tip-off for her that may help her case with the Udagawas - and then tells her about Gordon Foods looking for regular accommodation.
TERESE: And you don't want it?
PAUL: Of course I want it. But you need it more.
Paul leaves.
PAIGE: Well, that was surprisingly helpful!
TERESE: It sure was.
Terese goes to call Gordon Foods...
Erinsborough Hospital
Jimmy and Amy have come out of his post-spleen check-up - he's all healthy, they tell Jack, but needs to do stuff to boost his immunity. Jack leaves with Gabe, just as Nick turns up to help out with some oncology patients. He's not there as a doctor, but just to talk to patients. Amy introduces Nick to a clearly wary Jimmy. Jimmy goes quiet, so Amy's forced to tell Nick a bit about him.
On learning that Jimmy loves chess, Nick suggests that he go and play a game with Ollie, a boy of about Jimmy's age who's a patient here.
JIMMY: Thanks, but I'm busy today.
Once Nick's gone, Amy demands to know what Jimmy's so busy with. Jimmy admits that he doesn't want to be around Nick, having heard about his past from Paul.
JIMMY: I don't think we should be friends with him.
AMY: It's true, he was in jail. But he's learned his lesson. And I believe in giving everyone a second chance - don't you?
Jimmy looks unconvinced.

Mishti comes in to talk to Dipi, apologising for keeping her meltdown from her, and for making Shane lie about it.
DIPI: Why did you?
MISHTI: Because I was out of control, and seriously wanted to hurt someone.
DIPI: I would've understood, Mish.
MISHTI: I didn't want you to worry or think badly of me.
She adds that she kept her hook-up with the random the other night from Dipi for the same reason. Dipi says Mishti is entitled to her private life, but is concerned about her bringing randoms back here because of Yashvi and Kirsha. Mishti says she normally goes to guys' houses instead.
DIPI: So this guy - he's not the first one since Xander, is he?
MISHTI: No.
Mishti admits that hitting Tyler with the car was a reminder of Xander's death, but that the only way for her to move past those thoughts is to have fun - focus on the moment.
DIPI: That's your choice. But if you're upset or struggling, I need you to come to me. I'm not gonna judge you or turn you away, but you need to be open.
MISHTI: You know I've never been good at that.
DIPI: Well, you were able to be honest with Shane.
MISHTI: Yeah, but only by accident. I didn't want to involve him.
DIPI: Right. Well now you've got the both of us, okay? So no more secrets from anyone.
They hug.
Erinsborough Hospital
Jimmy is playing chess with Ollie, and appears to have met his match. Amy admits to Nick that she had a quiet word with him, and they go out of the room to talk. Nick admits he's been trying to connect with Ollie for ages, but having no luck - so he's glad Jimmy came around.
AMY: So why are you volunteering? I thought you'd be too busy with the wellness centre?
NICK: In a roundabout way, this is all about that. After everything that's happened, I've shifted my focus more onto human connection. It's just as important as the actual medical science. But the only problem is, I'm socially inept. Especially when it comes to kids - but it's something I'm determined to get better at.
Jimmy has been warily looking out of the window at Amy and Nick, and they notice they're being watched! Amy explains Jimmy's heard a lot about Nick, but that she's trying to get him to keep an open mind.
NICK: Lucky kid, having a mum like you.
They go back into the room, where Ollie is winning the chess game. Jimmy looks at Nick uncomfortably.
Lassiter's
Terese is having a meeting with Jasmine, while Paige works nearby. Terese admits that the hotel's figures aren't as good as they could be, but attributes this to her chemotherapy distracting her from the task at hand. Terese explains that her new treatment plan is far less taxing, so is back on top of things - and to prove it, shows Jasmine the regular booking she's just secured with Gordon Foods.
Jasmine is impressed, but says quality of service is important as well as quantity of guests - particularly for the upcoming star rating assessment. Terese expresses confidence that she can win back the hotel's fifth star, but Jasmine says she'll have to look at the audit very carefully with the rest of the board. Terese hands over the audit, and Jasmine leaves.

Gary is in the garden with Susan, asking if she'll be the celebrant at his wedding to Terese. Susan is thrilled and says she'd be honoured. Now all they need is for the Erinsborough Pavilion (NEW LOCATION ALERT?) to confirm their booking. Susan asks after Terese's therapy; Gary says it's going well, but admits Terese is facing a lot of pressure at work because of his gaffe with Jasmine.
GARY: It's all so crazy. If I was her, I'd just give up work, and put all my energy into getting better.
SUSAN: I dunno. I think, sometimes if you give up your work, you feel like you're giving up your identity.
Gary would like to book Terese into a Thai retreat like the one Karl took Susan on, but he can't afford it. Susan says there's no need to spend a lot of money; he just needs to be patient and supportive.
Lassiter's
Jasmine comes back in to see Terese and Paige, following her meeting with the board. They're impressed with the booking for Gordon Foods, however...
JASMINE: That wasn't enough to override the poor performance of the audit.
TERESE: I can turn it around.
JASMINE: And secure us a five-star rating? We'll be lucky to keep our four. I'm glad your health has improved, Terese. But the board has voted to relinquish its investments in Lassiter's.
TERESE: But I can't afford to buy you out - I don't have that kind of money! I'll never find another investor at this short notice!
JASMINE: I'm so sorry, Terese. This is our decision.
Erinsborough Hospital
Jimmy is still hanging out with Ollie and Nick, and looks a little happier now. Jack is randomly back, and wandering around with Gabe again. He finds Amy in reception, and is surprised to learn that Amy and Jimmy are spending time with Nick given what happened with Paul.
AMY: I told Dad I'd stay away. But I can't stop hanging out with him. I like him (...) We have this connection. And then there's the whole Christian thing. He really is trying to be a better person.
Jack says that the hospital staff have been praising Nick for his work, so Amy's not the only one who thinks he's changed. Jimmy and Nick emerge from Ollie's room - Jimmy's now Nick's biggest fan after Nick showed him how to look at bogies under a microscope!
AMY: Gross!
JIMMY: (...) You'd think it'd look disgusting, but it makes this really cool pattern!
Jimmy takes Jack off to show him the microscope, while Amy congratulates Nick on getting over his ineptitude with kids.

Dipi is cleaning when Shane comes in, wearing his hat. He asks her to sit down as he has something to say.
DIPI: Are you gonna say it wearing that hat? Because you know how much I like it.
SHANE: Why do you think I've got it on? Now, even though I've told you everything, and you know there was no funny business going on, I just want you to know that I love you. And that's why I've written you a love bush ballad - which is called 'Dippy About My Dipi'.
Her hair is long, and raven black,
And sometimes she wears red lippy,
She's a foxy lady front and back,
And that's why I'm dippy about my Dipi!
Dipi is suitably impressed.
Lassiter's
Terese and Paige are in postmortem mode following Jasmine's bombshell. Terese decides they need to contact the bank and find out where they stand financially. Gary comes in with Terese's lunch and news about the wedding, and Paige gives them some space; Terese admits that the Udagawas have pulled their investment.
GARY: I'm so sorry. If it weren't for me and my big mouth -
TERESE: No, it's not your fault. If I'd been upfront with them, they'd have given me more leeway, and I wouldn't have made so many mistakes.
GARY: So what happens now?
TERESE: I have to find a replacement investor.
GARY: If you can't?
TERESE: Well, I lose the hotel. Possibly the house. You'd lose your job. And depending on how my treatment goes, I may not find other work.
GARY: That's terrible - but maybe it's a sign.
TERESE: ...
GARY: You know, the universe is trying to tell you to take a break and look after your health.
TERESE: I don't believe in signs, Gary! I believe in achieving goals through hard work! And my goal has always been to run this hotel, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna lose it now!
GARY: ...
TERESE: What?!
GARY: I just really struggle to get your priorities sometimes.
TERESE: Oh, why, cos they don't comply with yours?!
GARY: No, because they don't comply with common sense! None of this means anything if you're not here to enjoy it!
TERESE: My career is a huge part of who I am! Do you not know me at all?!
GARY: Oh, I know you! We're just so different, sometimes I wonder why we're even together!
Gary marches out, and Terese looks upset.

Shane and Dipi come out of the bedroom, having just TITTNLtm; perhaps tellingly, she is now wearing the hat! They kiss in celebration of their newly secret-free marriage. Mishti comes in, interrupting them; Shane apologises for blabbing her secret, but Mishti understands and tells him not to worry.
Shane goes to do the vacuuming, while Mishti asks Dipi how she'd feel about hosting a modest party at the house to promote The Shed. Dipi agrees, saying it will be fun, and says Shane will be fine with it too.
DIPI: You know, I feel like he's finally coming back to me.
MISHTI: You idiot - he never went anywhere in the first place! He loves you to bits!
DIPI: Yeah. Don't worry, it'll happen for you one day as well.
Mishti doesn't look so sure.
Lassiter's Lake
Mishti and Leo are on a bench - she's now told him the full story about losing Xander, and her meltdown in Sydney afterwards.
LEO: I'm glad you told me. Because... I like you. A lot. And I think you like me too? Or am I just flattering myself?
MISHTI: Yeah, you are! But I do like you.
LEO: Okay, so how about that dinner then?
MISHTI: I'm really sorry. I can flirt, I can have fun, I can do casual. But I can't do anything more serious. I'm just not ready to get that close to anyone again. For now.
Carlton Gardens
Nick and Amy are strolling across the grass. Nick remarks that it was nice of Jack to take Jimmy to his dodgeball practice - Amy thinks it's a nice balance for Jimmy's more academic love of science etc.
AMY: He's already said he wants to be an engineer. But who knows? Maybe he'll get into medicine like you, and do something that really changes the world. But it doesn't matter what he does, as long as he's happy, and has a bigger, more important life than me.
NICK: You've really got no idea, do you? The important people in the world are people exactly like you. People who raise their kids well, who are kind, generous, thoughtful. Forgiving. You're the world-changer, Amy. Not me.
Amy kisses Nick on the lips!
