Number 26 back yard
Sheila tells Brooke she shouldn't take what's happened to heart; she's sure she will see Jessie again. Brooke tells Amy she should come to the day spa today but Amy isn't keen and leaves to take Jimmy to school. Gary appears and reveals that Terese has dumped him. Sheila wonders if it's because he's been spending so much time with Brooke. She thinks Terese owes him an explanation.
Ramsay Street
Susan and Elly are getting in the car. Susan has had a call from the department; Donald Cheng has filed his report. It could look like she was protecting Elly over Piper but Brad and Terese were happy with the way things were handled. She assures Elly the department will be satisfied as well.
Number 22
Finn is dressed up and tells Piper he's got a big meeting. He leaves and Paige tells Piper she's heard Susan isn't very keen on Finn. Terese comes downstairs and says Finn seems nice enough but isn't keen on having him stay long term so she's going to ask him to move out. Sheila comes to the door and wants an explanation.
SHEILA: You and Gary are so good together. You're like marshmallows in a big mug of hot chocolate!
Terese says she saw Gary and Brooke heading into a hotel yesterday and they were all over each other. Sheila says they were just looking for Jessie and tells her not to give up on him; she's sure they can work this out.
Number 24 back yard
Aaron is helping Paige with some moxibustion; a traditional Chinese practise of burning mugwort onto the skin to try to turn breech babies! He has a job interview across town but it's not very interesting. Paige is reading in the paper about a mega development (by Pavement Practitioners, the CEO of which is named Bob Debillda!) near the hot air balloon crash site. She says it's a reserve and should be protected.
Lassiters complex
Terese asks Gary if she can talk to him. She says she should have told him the truth that she saw him with Brooke.
GARY: I've already told you, as far as Brooke's concerned you've got nothing to worry about. Every morning when I wake up you're the first thing I think about because you're it for me. You're all I want.
Terese tells Gary she can't trust him any more but Gary says he didn't want to burden her.
TERESE: My husband of 20 years cheated on me after months of telling me that nothing was going on. Just the thought of somebody doing that to me again... it's just too much. I won't let myself go down that road again.
Erinsborough High
Finn comes into Susan's office to check how she is; things must be hectic with Mr Cheng investigating Elly. Susan tells him everything's under control.
FINN: I'm guessing you don't want him digging too deep?
SUSAN: And what exactly do you mean by that?
FINN: Just that Elly's not the only one who hasn't been playing by the rules.
Finn mentions Susan not telling the DHS when drugs were found at the backpackers and Piper was at risk, not telling the department about Elly's relationship with Angus, and promoting Wayne instead of sending him packing.
SUSAN: Wow, that's quite a list you've got there!
Finn claims he's just worried about Susan and the effect of the hoopla this could cause. He suggests she take long service leave.
SUSAN (laughing): Let me guess... you would offer to take over in my absence?
FINN: As assistant principal it would be my duty.
SUSAN: Finn, if you're truly concerned about my conduct as principal, by all means contact the department. Tell them everything you've just told me. I stand by all my decisions and I can back everything up. As far as your concerns about my health go, I can assure you I've never felt better and I have no plans on going anywhere. Shut the door on your way out!
Lassiters complex
Susan is having a coffee with Karl and telling him about Finn. His aim is obviously to become principal, but why go after Elly? Karl says Elly's actions reflect on her. Susan hopes he doesn't use Elly's mistakes to ruin her career.
Aaron is back from his interview. Paige's baby hasn't turned yet. Aaron tells her he's not sure if he wants to take the job as it's a dancing job.
PAIGE: Well you do look good in chaps!
Paige reminds him he's done it before but Aaron feels like he's going backwards. He asks Paige not to tell anyone, especially David. Paige gets a message from Lauren. She wishes she were here.
Number 22 back yard
Terese arrives home and Piper tells her she can talk to her; Xanthe has told her what's going on and that Gary is devastated. Terese reveals she thought Gary was cheating. She was wrong, but it was too familiar. Piper doesn't think Gary is that sort of guy. Terese says she also needs to sort out Finn and confides that Susan warned her about him. They agree that Susan's judgement is usually spot on.
Harold's Café
Elly tells Paige that things are getting out of control. Paige had no idea Finn was so nasty and asks if she can pin something on him; surely Xanthe has some dirt on him? Elly says he's practically a god to Xanthe, but maybe she should speak to Ben. Jack comes in and Paige tells him about the development; they are going to knock down "their place" from after the balloon crash.
JACK: Well that's kind of what I wanted to talk about. We need to figure out a birth plan. You know, breach, non-breach...
PAIGE: OK look, I am struggling to process one game plan, let alone two!
Jack wants to be present at the birth. His voice goes fuzzy as he continues talking and Paige says she needs to get some air.
Lassiters Lake
Jack thinks Paige has had a panic attack. Paige says she does want Jack at the birth but there's so much going on right now and it's so much harder without Lauren here.
PAIGE: I am terrified about having this baby, and the only person I want there squeezing my hand is my mum.
Lassiters Day Spa
Brooke is giving Sheila and Amy a pedicure. Gary pops in and Sheila asks if he's spoken to Terese. Gary says it's over. Sheila gets a phone call from Jack.
Number 22
Terese ends a call with Jack as Finn comes downstairs. Terese tells Finn she only agreed to give him a room whilst he was tutoring Xanthe and she thinks it would be best if he moves out. Finn asks if he's done something wrong and Terese says she's heard about the problems with Elly and Susan. Finn says he will find somewhere as quickly as possible and goes outside. Terese tells Piper that Jack wants her to help make someone's day a whole lot better...
Number 24
Paige arrives home and finds Jack, Aaron, Amy, Susan, Sheila and Terese there.
TERESE: We know that we're not your mothers...
SHEILA: Although I could easily be because I was a real looker at your age too!
They want to be there for Paige before, during and after she has the baby; on call any time. Piper is on a video call and says she's ready for the labour room if needed. They decide to call the group the "Mum Tree". Paige is touched.
Number 26 back yard
Brooke finds Gary checking the pigeons. They cheer him up; he's never seen a pigeon with a broken heart. Brooke tells Gary he's a charming, generous, kind-hearted guy and she regrets dumping him. She wants to make amends for ruining things for him again.
BROOKE: I was thinking of offering you a super spesh Brooke Butler gift certificate.
GARY: Thanks, but I think I've had enough manscaping for one year!
Brooke was thinking about a night of great food, great movies and great company. Gary goes to get changed and Brooke looks pleased with herself.
Ramsay Street
Finn is coming back from a run when Karl pulls up in his car.
KARL: I heard what you did to Susan today and for the record it's not on.
FINN: I think you may have heard a biased version of events, Karl.
KARL: Susan is the fairest person I know and she's a brilliant educator and leader.
FINN: Have you got a point to this?
KARL: Yes. Yes. If you're thinking of taking her job then you can think again because she has the support of the entire community, not to mention the Department of Education.
Terese, Susan and Sheila are leaving No.24 and Sheila pointedly says she'd better get back and see how Gary is. Susan comments on the tension and Terese says she hasn't had the best day. Susan either; Finn finally showed his hand and is after her job. Finn listens from behind a tree as Terese says she's kicked him out and should have done so as soon as Susan warned her. She apologises for not having been a very good friend lately and they hug.
Number 22
Finn returns to the house and finds Piper's painkillers in the kitchen. He looks up the side effects on his tablet and cross-references them with the symptoms of MS. He opens the pills and pours some out. Xanthe comes out of the laundry room and asks what he's doing with Piper's pills.
