Paige is feeling awkward about thinking Mark had bought her the necklace when it was for Sonya – he's heading out to work, and she seems to suspect that he wants to get away from her after the mix- up. Jack turns up just as Mark is leaving, and hears Paige apologise to Mark. She tells Jack she'll explain everything at Harold's.
Toadie confronts Yashvi about the stash of fireworks that were buried in the back yard, and asks if they were hers. She denies it at first, but when Toadie points out that Lauren and Brad wouldn't have put them there, and asks if Kirsha might be responsible, Yashvi admits the truth.
TOADIE: Nell is your cousin, and they ended up in her hands. Your dog was chewing on one!
YASHVI: I tried to get rid of them safely! The morning of the accident, I found a spot to bury them near the backpackers', but then I saw Auntie Mishti, and that's why someone saw me running away.
TOADIE: So you just buried them in the back yard?
Yashvi says the fireworks were ‘just leftovers' – she wasn't planning on using them. She begs Toadie not to tell her parents…
Terese is visiting Piper in hospital. Piper complains that she hasn't heard from Tyler in hours – she's worried she upset him before, when she asked him to leave.
PIPER: He was only trying to help. But I don't want him to see me all helpless and needy.
TERESE: You're allowed to be helpless and needy. Especially at the moment. Any couple can get through the good times.
PIPER: Tyler and I have had our fair share of hard stuff.
TERESE: Yes – yes, you have. But there'll be more. Cos it's just life.
Tyler and Mishti are heading towards the market, where T-Bone apparently hangs out. Tyler asks Mishti why she wants to help track him down – it's not like anyone she cares about was involved in the accident.
MISHTI: I saw the collateral damage. The impact it had on everyone in the community. People do some pretty messed- up stuff and get away with it completely. It's not right.
TYLER: No, it's not.
Tyler gets a text from Piper, but he decides to call her later, saying she'll only try to talk him out of confronting T-Bone.
Sonya runs into Toadie, and asks him where Nell is – he explains Dipi's looking after her. Toadie follows this up by saying he look after Nell more often while Sonya's working; she thanks him for the offer but says he obviously has a lot on, hence him passing Nell to Dipi today.
However, Toadie says that now he's settled at No 32, he'd like to split their time with Nell more evenly – say, 50/50. Sonya's still annoyed that Toadie came and took Nell the other night; he apologises for that, and says he was upset.
TOADIE: And I'm sorry that I hung up on you when you called. The other morning.
Sonya looks worried – she evidently doesn't remember making the phone call, but doesn't say as much. She just tells Toadie that she can't make a decision about him having Nell more often now; she'll talk to him about it later. Concerned by her mood, Toadie asks if she's looking after herself. Sonya claims that she is.
TOADIE: I still care about you. Always will.
Sonya thanks him, a little sarcastically, and says she has to go.
Paige is telling Jack about the mix-up with the necklace Mark bought for Sonya, and how she thought he was hinting at them getting back together. Jack looks worried.
JACK: Is that something that you'd want?
PAIGE: Well, I had never really thought about it until it came up. And I kind of considered it.
JACK: Maybe now's not the right time to be considering a new relationship.
PAIGE: No, I know that. I just hope that I haven't ruined my friendship with Mark.
JACK: I'm sure it's just a case of crossed wires.
Meanwhile, Toadie tells Shane about how Sonya didn't seem keen about them looking after Nell more equally. Shane says she'll come around to the idea.
Toadie also digs for information on Yashvi's wild side, seemingly weighing up whether to spill the beans about the fireworks. He idly wonders whether she has a bit of her old man in her, in terms of her inability to stay out of trouble. Shane seems a little offended by that, and says Yashvi's a good kid – she pulls some silly pranks, but underneath it all she's harmless.
Mark has been re- interviewing some of the backpackers who've moved to the motel, about the day of the accident and the items found at the scene of the crime. But he tells Steph that none of them seem to recognise the artefacts or remember anything new.
Steph seems a little annoyed with Mark, and asks him why he gave Sonya the necklace when he agreed to stay away from her. He claims he was just letting Sonya know he was there for her, but Steph challenges this, suggesting it was also a romantic gesture.
MARK: Alright. It was wrong, okay?
He asks Steph to put a poster on the noticeboard with some of the items found at the accident, saying it could give them a new lead. But Steph herself quickly recognises a pair of shoes found at the scene – as Sonya's. Mark looks shocked.
Piper is on the phone to her father Brad. Afterwards, she continues to complain to Terese about Tyler not replying to her messages.
TERESE: He's not exactly reliable.
PIPER: You never miss an opportunity to put him down, do you? Tyler has always been there for me, Mum, you know that.
Terese gets annoyed, reminding Piper that Tyler's past isn't exactly squeaky- clean, though she agrees when Piper says Tyler has grown up a lot in the last few months.
PIPER: It's as if you're waiting for Tyler to stuff up. But he's going to prove you wrong, Mum – you'll see.
Queen Victoria Market
Tyler and Mishti locate T-Bone at the market. Tyler angrily tells T-Bone that the police have been trying to contact him and says he needs to come with them to answer their questions. But T-Bone shows no signs of cooperating, and simply seems content to taunt Tyler – failing to deny that he played a role in the accident, and putting the blame on Tyler for not protecting Piper.
T-Bone: Bet she's regretting sticking with you now. Or has she already come to her senses and ditched you?
Tyler sees red and lunges at T-Bone, knocking him into a pile of boxes and starting to punch him. Mishti intervenes, telling Tyler to cool it and walk away. A bloody- nosed T-Bone glares angrily at Tyler from the ground.
Jack is talking to Amy about his feelings for Paige.
JACK: I love her. And I always will. And she has every right to move on – but is it selfish that I don't want her to?
AMY: Selfish, no. Unfair, yes. Look, you've made your choice. You need to let Paige make hers now.
JACK: I just don't want her to get hurt. And if she goes back with Mark, then that'll probably happen.
AMY: Well, there's every chance it was just pregnancy hormones bubbling over. It's a tricky situation, but as long as you do what's good for the baby – which includes making sure that Paige is happy and healthy – then you'll be okay.
Queen Victoria Market
Mishti is giving Tyler a dressing- down for having assaulted T-Bone, telling him that it was vengeance, not justice.
MISHTI: I would never have agreed to bring you here if you were gonna lose it like you did. Looks like it was more to do with your pride than the chance he was responsible for the accident.
TYLER: That's not true.
MISHTI: This is just some plan for vigilante payback?
TYLER: Come on, you're starting to sound like my brother.
Mishti tells Tyler to call in T-Bone's location and let the cops handle him – and to tell them he assaulted him while he's at it! Mishti says Tyler isn't getting back in her car until he's made the call.
TYLER: Then I'll find my own way home.
He walks off.
Erinsborough Council Offices
Mark turns up to see Sonya. She admits she's worried about the phone call Toadie said she made – as she doesn't remember making it. It was the morning she came home from drinking.
SONYA: And now I'm just starting to wonder whether I've done anything else stupid.
MARK: What do you remember?
SONYA: To be honest, I don't remember a lot. I think I got a cab home, and I fell over. But I've been sober since that night. So thank you for keeping it to yourself, because I just don't think I could handle it if it threatened my custody of Nell. She's really the only thing that's keeping me going.
MARK: I don't think Jarrod would use this against you.
SONYA: Yeah, he's already trying to get more access. So if he finds out I've been drinking, he's gonna go for full custody. And he's gonna say it's for my own good, and he's gonna believe it. So please, okay? It's already toxic enough between him and I. Did you want me for something?
Mark hesitates, then says no – claiming he was just checking in. The shoes found at the accident site remain unmentioned.
Mark returns to talk to Steph, admitting he couldn't bring himself to mention the shoes to Sonya given how fragile she is. He asks Steph if she saw Sonya that night, but she insists she didn't until the following morning, when Sonya was really badly hung over and had the cut on her chin.
MARK: Her shoes were at the crime scene. So technically, she's a suspect. I just can't believe that she would be capable of doing something like this.
STEPH: Yeah, well I never thought I would be, either. But look what I did to Ringo. I'd been drinking the night before too.
MARK: No. Sonya wouldn't do this. And there's nothing to say those shoes are hers – someone at the backpackers' could have exactly the same ones, right?
MARK: If I investigate this – even if she is cleared – word is going to get out about her relapse.
STEPH: That's the last thing she needs. What are you gonna do?
MARK: I dunno.
Paige is trying, but failing, to entertain Piper with trashy magazine quizzes. Piper correctly guesses that Paige is hiding out here from Mark because of their misunderstanding, and encourages her to go home and talk to him about it.
PIPER: Take the crummy magazine with you!
Just after Paige leaves, Tyler arrives, with a stuffed toy cat for Piper.
TYLER: I thought you were missing Clementine, so I went shopping.
Piper is thrilled with the present, and apologises for throwing him out before.
PIPER: I know you were only trying to help. I just don't want to ruin the mystique between us, okay? So you helping me with bathroom stuff is just like, no.
TYLER: I'd do anything for you. Any time you need it. Even if it jeopardises the all- important mystique.
Toadie comes home to talk to Yashvi again. He explains that, as a lawyer, he has a duty to inform the police if he thinks someone is going to do something bad. However, he's prepared to believe that Yashvi had good intentions in getting rid of the fireworks, so it can stay just between them. Yashvi is super- grateful.
TOADIE: Please don't make me regret my decision.
YASHVI: I won't. I swear.
Toadie says he'll hold onto the fireworks for now, then hand them into the police when the heat dies down. He says Yashvi can come to him the next time she's in trouble.
TOADIE: Having a lawyer for an uncle can be very handy.
They shake on it, and Yashvi smiles.
Erinsborough Police Station
Mark looks pensively at the official police photo of the shoes from the crime scene. Paige turns up and asks to talk to him. She again apologises for her mistake over the necklace, but Mark tells her he can understand why she made it – they should just forget about it.
PAIGE: So we're cool? I haven't wrecked everything?
MARK: No, of course not. It'd take more than that to wreck our friendship.
Paige adds that it was lovely what Mark tried to do for Sonya – she's lucky to have him. Paige leaves again, and Mark returns to gazing at the photo. He hesitates, before sticking an ‘unclaimed' sticker on the printout photo of the shoes. On the computer, next to an image of the shoes, he types ‘item unclaimed, further investigation deemed unnecessary'. But he doesn't look comfortable about it.
Mark is gazing forlornly at the necklace he bought for Sonya, when Tyler comes in. He apologises to Mark for having a go at him earlier, admitting he's struggling with Piper being in hospital. He again complains that the guy responsible for the accident is walking around scot- free – but Mark informs Tyler he's followed up T-Bone's alibi.
MARK: He wasn't there. He can't have been the one responsible for the accident (…) I've had it confirmed by two independent witnesses. You need to let it go.
Tyler agrees, looking guilty. Mark places the necklace back in the box and closes it.
We see Sonya smiling as Toadie cuddles her in bed.
TOADIE: I love you. I never stopped loving you.
But when she turns over to look at him, he's gone – it was just a dream. She shuffles onto his side of the bed, looking sad.
Tyler and Mark are watching TV, and Paige comes to join them. Mishti turns up to see Tyler.
MISHTI: I just reported you to the city police for assaulting T-Bone. It's probably better if you turn yourself in for questioning.
Mark looks disapprovingly at Tyler.
- Mishti tells Shane that she's reported Tyler to the police
- Ben breaks some ‘crazy' news to Piper about Tyler
- Toadie doesn't like Tyler's chances in front of a magistrate
- Finn tells Xanthe he needs to focus on his career, and she agrees
- Susan finds an exam paper in a classroom, and asks Xanthe who taught the class – it was Elly
- We see Finn talking to Wayne, referring to Elly as the ‘number one suspect'
