Backpackers
Piper is trapped under the rubble. Leo rushes to the ute, shouting Amy's name but the ute is empty. Mishti follows him, asking if anyone is injured and where the driver is. Leo and Mishti clear some rubble and check on Piper, while a group of backpackers stand around looking panicked. Piper complains about her leg. Leo rushes through the rubble and searches for David who is trapped under a set of shelves. Mishti calls an ambulance, while Leo struggles to lift the shelves off David.

Harold's
Sheila introduces herself to Dipi. Dipi tells her Xanthe's been a huge help around here, there's a lot of pressure in running the café. Sheila tells her she just has to get used to bossing people around, and tells Dipi she's the executive manager at the Waterhole. Amy arrives, and Sheila introduces her to Dipi. Dipi says that her daughter and Jimmy are already friends. Amy's distracted and leaves to answer a call. She thanks the person on the phone for calling back, telling them that something awful has just happened.

Yashvi arrives and Dipi interrogates her for leaving home first thing in the morning, then arriving here all dirty and sweaty. Yashvi tells her to change her clothes and get to school. As Yashvi leaves, Sheila tells Dipi that if she manages the café the way she manages Yashvi then she's going to be fine.

Backpackers
Piper cries out in pain, while Mishti reassures her she's going to be fine. She asks Leo about David, who is still unconscious, but panting. Leo thinks the shelves are crushing his chest, but he can't lift it off him. Tyler rushes in and checks on Piper. As the ambulance arrives, Leo asks Tyler to help him lift the shelves off David. Tyler and Leo manage to lift it off. Mishti informs the paramedics about the situation, as they go to Piper and David. Mishti tells Leo she's going to make sure no one contaminates the crime scene, and asks him to track down Amy.

Number 24
Aaron checks his finances and realises he'll have enough to pay his mortgage for the next couple of months as long as he doesn't eat, go out or do anything except breathe! He expects Mark to tell him off for acting before using his head again, but Mark thinks he made the right decision. Toadie's all over the shop right now, and he thinks Aaron will be able to find a better job. Mark gets a call from Tyler, who informs him about the accident. Mark tells Aaron that Piper and David are on their way to the hospital. Aaron says he has to go see him.

Number 30
Steph finds Sonya passed out on the sofa. She wakes Sonya up and asks about Nell, who is with Jarrod. Steph sees a cut under Sonya's chin. Sonya rolls over and goes back to sleep, while Steph looks worried.

Erinsborough Hospital
Karl tells Terese that Piper has a broken knee. The paramedics wheel Piper past, and Terese goes with her. Karl checks on David and tells the paramedics that he needs a CT scan. Karl tells Leo and Aaron that there is a risk of a bleed on the brain which could cause damage, but they'll have a better idea after the CT scan.

Backpackers
Mark looks around the crime scene, while a photographer takes pictures.

Harold's
Sheila and Dipi gossip about how tight with money Karl is. Meanwhile Paul asks Amy what happened. Leo calls Amy but she doesn't answer. Mark arrives and asks to speak with Amy about the accident. Amy doesn't know anything about it and wonders who crashed it. She admits she was working there earlier. Mark tells them that Piper and David have been taken to hospital. Paul rushes to see David, but Mark stops them so he can get Amy's statement. Amy says she was there around 7am, she had an argument with Leo then went for a walk to clear her head. That's when she called her Dad to meet her here. She realises she doesn't have her keys with her, she must have left them in the ignition. She hasn't had any problems with the ute, she just had it serviced by Tyler. Paul cuts the interview short to get to the hospital.

Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron is waiting outside David's room, while Leo is on the phone saying the Backpackers is out of service until further notice. Tyler tells Paige that Piper is in surgery for a fractured pelvis. She also has a broken leg. Aaron is worried about David, he never got to tell him how he felt and hopes it isn't too late. Paige takes Aaron to get a coffee.

Mark arrives and asks Tyler about the service on Amy's ute. Tyler says there was no issues with the brakes. Mark says the ute went into the building with too much force, and Amy left it unattended. Mark wonders if there is anyone who could have done it. Tyler suggests T-Bone had a grudge against them after he kicked him out. Tyler says he's a tool, and he wouldn't put it past him to do something like this.

Number 30
Steph gives Sonya a glass of water. Sonya says she went to a council function since Toadie had Nell for the night. Steph asks Sonya if she was drinking. Sonya slurs her words as she claims she thinks she might have a bug. Steph asks why she slept out here. Sonya says it was unpleasant when Toadie came by so she didn't want to sleep in their bed. Steph tells her about the cut under her chin, Sonya claims she fell in the bathroom last night. Steph knows that Sonya is really out of it. Sonya says she's sick so she isn't going to work today. Sonya goes to get something for the cut under her chin.

Erinsborough Hospital
As Paul and Amy join Leo and Aaron at David's bedside, Karl tells them he has a fractured cheekbone. His CT scan shows a brain contusion, but it's mild and should heal itself. If it doesn't he might have problems with speech, memory and motor coordination. They won't know more until he wakes up, but they'll keep monitoring. As Karl leaves, Amy apologises for leaving the keys in the ute. Leo accuses her of crashing into the building. He saw how angry she was. Amy denies it, and Paul backs her up. As Leo and Paul argue, Aaron stops them. They need to focus on David. Amy leaves, upset.

(Later)

Mark questions Leo about T-Bone, telling him that Tyler suspects he's responsible. Mark asks Leo about the insurance. Leo insists this isn't an insurance job as he would never put his brother or Piper at risk. Leo tells him to talk to Amy. Paul says Amy is not to blame. Mark has a number of leads, including Amy. Paul is pleased that Mark is keeping an open mind as he usually has tunnel vision when he's desperate to solve a crime. Leo says Amy was there and she was angry, how can he be 100% sure it wasn't her.

(Later)

Paul sits with a distressed Amy in the waiting room. Amy assures Paul that she's telling the truth. She wanted to tell him earlier about the argument she had with Leo. She felt like an idiot after realising he hadn't slept with Mishti. She tells Paul about the guy she met online and went home with, that's not the sort of thing she usually does. Meanwhile Leo seems perfectly fine with everything. Paul asks if she still sees him in a romantic light. Amy says the moment she found out they were related those feelings vanished, but their connection is strong. She doesn't want to be with him, but she misses him and that emotional connection. It hurts that he's shrugged it all off. Paul asks her if she has anything else to come clean about, she assures him she couldn't do this.

Amy sees Paige and Terese walk past, and rushes to speak to her. Terese coldly tells Amy that she has to see if her daughter is out of surgery. They leave.

Harold's
Dipi gives Yashvi a big hug. Yashvi says if this is about the hit and run, she gets it as everyone was talking about it at school. Dipi thought it was an accident. Yashvi asks if any witnesses have come forward. Dipi tells her to take some dishes through to the kitchen.

Dipi sits down with Mishti as she can see she's upset. She asks if the accident has brought back memories. Mishti doesn't want to go there, she's okay. Dipi hugs Mishti.

Sonya gets off the phone with council surveyors. She tells Steph that Backpackers will be closed while they do the damage report, which will mean more business for the motel.

SONYA: I'm going to go home and lie down. I feel wrecked after getting in this morning.
STEPH: Do you mean last night?
SONYA: Yeah, last night.

Sonya goes to settle the bill.

Erinsborough Hospital: Piper's Room
Tyler asks Piper if she's comfortable. Piper says she has pins holding her leg together and she's peeing into a bag. Terese and Paige arrive. Terese hasn't been able to stop thinking about her at the backpackers, trapped and in pain.

TERESE: You're here and you're alive. If it had happened again, I don't know if I...
PAIGE: But it didn't.

Tyler tells them that the operation went well, there's only two more to go. Terese wonders why anyone would do this. Piper has an idea about that.

(Later)

Tyler tells Mark about T-Bone being kicked out for harassing Piper, and that he's been calling Piper and hanging up. Mark says T-Bone used his credit card in Anglesea last night. Mark offers for Tyler to stay at his while the Backpackers is closed. Mishti arrives and asks if Mark has made an arrest yet. She's surprised he hasn't arrested Amy. Mishti says if he interrogates Amy, she'll crack. If he saw the fight she had with Leo beforehand he'd know she was responsible. Tyler says Amy wouldn't do that. Mishti suggests it could have been an accident.

MISHTI: Find some evidence, innocent people have been hurt!
MARK: Yes and they're friends of mine. Trust me, I will get whoever's responsible okay.

Mishti doesn't look happy.

Erinsborough Hospital: David's Room
Aaron tells David to wake up.

AARON: I need to tell you that you should never listen to me, because I was wrong for turning you down, for telling you to date other people because I'm crazy about you. So even if I've ruined things and even if I can't have you, I need you to be okay.

Leo and Paul arrive having completed paperwork. They thank Aaron for staying with David and say they'll take over. After Aaron leaves, David starts to wake up. Paul rushes away to get help, while Leo tells David that he's in hospital.

Number 24
Aaron tells Mark that David's initial signs are good, but he can't believe he left seconds before David woke up. He thinks he should go back to the hospital, but Mark says he should let David get his bearings.

As Aaron goes to his room, Tyler comes out wearing only a towel. He thanks Mark for letting him stay, it's been a tough day for him, and for Mark with Mishti on his case. Tyler asks to borrow some clothes. Mark tells him there's some on the line, if he brings them all in.

Steph arrives and tells Mark that Sonya's drinking. She'd admitted to slipping up last week too. Steph promised Sonya not to say anything, so Mark can't say anything either. Steph says the last two times it happened she was on her own, so whenever Toadie has Nell, one of them should be with Sonya. She'll keep pushing Sonya to go to AA meetings. Mark doesn't think it's a long term solution, but Steph asks if he has a better one.

Backpackers
Amy arrives at the scene of the crime, looking at her ute. She crosses the police barrier when she sees Yashvi looking at her. Amy quickly goes back behind the barrier, while Yashvi nervously looks around then rushes off. Amy takes out her phone and calls Jack. She says there's something she needs to come clean about, she needs to talk to him.
