- Shane announcing he's bought the lease to Harold's and moving his family to Erinsborough.
- Shane declaring that ‘step 1' has been completed to the mysterious Mishti.
- Leo getting himself a date with mysterious Mishti.
- Finn reaffirming to Elly that Ben should be allowed to go for what he wants.
- Sonya attending an AA meeting and saying she's still sober while we know she's hit the bottle recently.
- Sonya coming across a letter in #28 (belonging to Toadie) with the phrases ‘divorce' and ‘substance abuse' in it.
- Steph finding Sonya passed out through drink.
Sonya is extremely surprised to see Steph in the house as she surfaces from her room. Steph tries to act normally by asking if she wants breakfast, which Sonya turns down, before wondering why Steph is still in the house given she was dropping off her keys yesterday.
STEPH: I tried to last night but you were out cold on your bed.
Sonya puts that down to a sleeping tablet she took, so Steph brings up the wine bottles she saw. That's passed off as Sonya having friends over from the council and they took their own wine, reaffirming that she didn't have any of it.
STEPH: If you've been drinking…
SONYA: (interrupting) I haven't. But I mean I appreciate the vote of confidence Steph. I mean, how weak do you think I am?
STEPH: I don't think you're weak Sonn, I think you've been through hell.
SONYA: Exactly and now I have one of my friends accusing me of being a drunk on top of everything else.
Sonya announces she's off to a budget meeting and would appreciate Steph gone by the time she gets home.
Leo tells Mishti that he'd a great night with her last night and suggests another date before she leaves, so she tells him to call her when he's free.
Karl and Shane are singing their hearts out when Toadie comes by to introduce his brother to Amy who is round to fix a few things and once the intros are done, she departs to get the tasks completed.
Toadie is curious to know how Dipi (Shane's wife) took the news of the impending move to #32 and Shane admits he's not told her yet. Karl hopes she takes the news better than Susan did when he bought #28 – she wanted to kill him! Shane however is confident Dipi will like the place and hopes Toadie/Karl will be around when the family arrive.
As they head out the front door, mysterious Mishti sneaks in the back door but is barely in the kitchen for seconds before Shane escorts her back out because she will ruin everything.
Elly can't but notice twinkle in Leo's eye as they meet for coffee and he tells her about meeting someone. She is happy to hear the news and admits she's changed her mind about Finn too, she now sees him as being a great guy and is going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Sonya has been to another AA meeting and as it disperses, the convenor (Myra) pulls Sonya back for a private chat as she felt like Sonya wanted to say more yesterday but didn't. After initially saying she couldn't remember, Myra asks how things are at home and Sonya replies “it's not great but I'm coping” and is told if she ever needs to talk, she knows where to come.
Sonya exits the Community Centre and runs into Steph – she called the council and found out there was no budget meeting and wants to know why Sonya didn't tell the truth. “Maybe because I didn't want the third degree,” Sonya replies and does her best to get away from Steph, but she's not letting her go until Sonya is honest with her.
STEPH: Why can't you be honest about it? What does that tell you?
“I just don't have time for this Steph,” she says before walking around Steph and heading off.
Shane is ready and waiting to meet his family as they arrive in the street… what he isn't expecting is a football off his head thrown by Yashvi as she exits the car! Dipi gives her hubby a kiss, apologising for being late due to wrong turns, before he gets hugs and kisses from the girls.
DIPI: Hey, and what's this secret you've been on about?
SHANE: Check it out, our new home!
From the look in Dipi's face, he's said the right thing (renting!) but after a few seconds, declares that its “amazing” and she loves it! The girls give their approval too before Shane leads them all inside to look at the house.
And when they get inside, Toadie (or Toadfish as Dipi calls him) and Karl are there to meet the family. Dipi is really pleased to finally meet her brother- in- law and is put right about it being Toadie now. Shane also mentions that the fishy nicknames continue in his family, introducing Toadie to Kirsha or Lionfish and saying that Yashvi is Clownfish with the promise of he'll know why she's called that soon enough! Toad introduces them to Karl and Dipi is thrilled to meet Nell.
Yashvi pops her head in to say she loves the pool and to invite her sister out but she's reluctant to go and Dipi explains it's because she's worried about making new friends. Toadie reassures her the school is very friendly including the Principal who is like a second mum to him!
Toadie heads off to see Sonya and the rest (including Karl) go outside to check out the backyard. Dipi is now in love with the house and compliments her husband while Yashvi decides to jump into the pool…to check out the water quality!
DIPI: So what did we tell you, she's a total clown!
Shane then announces that he's got one final surprise for them all!
Amy can't but hear the conversation Elly is having with Leo (about his date) as she comes in to collect an order from the bar.
AMY: He acts like he's so okay but I know he's as messed up as I am.
ELLY: Amy I'm sorry but this girl is real and he will see her again and even if it's not her, it will be someone eventually. Look, I don't want to be hurtful when I say this, but you need to hear it. Yes, at first, Leo was struggling with your situation but now he's trying everything to move beyond that and I think it's a good thing. I also think it's what you should be doing as well. Whatever you guys had it can't happen.
AMY: I know that!
ELLY: Then you should be trying to do everything in your power to move on as well.
Amy politely nods but is struggling to keep the tears at bay as Elly leaves the bar.
Dipi is thrilled that the complex is so close to home as Shane leads his family through it towards Harold's.
YASHVI: Who's Harold?
SHANE: A beloved former member of this community who goes by the name Jellybelly.
Kirsha comments that he knows his stuff and Shane replies he needs to know his stuff if he's going to buy a business.
DIPI: You've bought me a café?!
Shane tries to butter her up by saying she's always dreamt of running one, so it felt like the right thing to do. She is more concerned about where the money to do all of this is coming from, so he explains that from the sale of the farm and the good deal he got, they will be fine. The kids are looking on the positives – free milkshakes and doughnuts!
SHANE: You'll never have to work in a roadhouse or a diner again. You'll be your own boss, make your own menu.
Her silence indicates to him she doesn't like it but she's just overcome by it all and asks if she is dreaming! “I swear, it's all true,” he reassures her with… and a kiss and a hug too!
Sonya arrives to meet Toadie but it's not a happy meeting – she throws his mail onto the table and with a promise that she will forward the rest onto his practice! Toadie doesn't react, simply asks if she wants a coffee! Irate Sonya asks that he at least does has the courtesy to not pretend.
TOADIE: I'm sorry, I don't know what you are talking about?
SONYA: I saw the letter from the lawyer Jarrod. I know you've got it all worked out, you're dividing the assets, you're organising the custody of Nell.
TOADIE: Can you give me a minute to explain to explain please?
SONYA: I thought maybe you'd want to do that in front of your lawyer, you know someone that knows all about my past substance abuse issues and my failings as a mother.
TOADIE: Mum was the one who spoke with the lawyer, I had nothing to do with it.
SONYA: You know what, I actually believe you because she never liked me. She never thought I was good enough for you and you know, she's probably just loving this.
TOADIE: She's worried okay. She's worried about Nell, she's worried about the both of us.
SONYA: She wants us to get a divorce and you know what, maybe she's right, maybe that is just for the best.
Amy plays it cool when she goes up to Leo to discuss the last piece of work she needs to do at the backpackers and is told to email him. It then goes very quiet between them and Amy mentions what Elly said and asks Leo about her, including if he'll be seeing her again.
LEO: Maybe. Yes. Look, it's the right thing to do. As weird as it sounds, I'm doing this for you too. The longer we drag this out, the more it hurts and I don't want to put you through that.
(Amy silently nods)
LEO: Go out, meet someone, have fun, it's the only thing we can do.
Amy replies that she's been out and has tried before adding that she can count on one hand the number of guys she's been with.
AMY: Being with someone means something to me.
LEO: I don't know what else I can say. Just do what you need to do to take your mind off us.
Dipi declares that she is more than happy with the café, there is just something else missing – Mishti and wondered what Shane would say to her coming to live with them. Shane isn't sure there is room for her and Dipi agrees and admits they've got a lot on their plate adjusting to the new environment. The pair head from the kitchen through the main part of the café and Dipi gets a surprise – the mysterious Mishti is there and immediately go to hug each other.
Dipi is overwhelmed by the surprises she's had today and goes inside to start working immediately (getting a customer some water and hot chocolates for the girls). Leo spots Mishti sitting alone and approaches her to make arrangements for their farewell date and she explains she is no longer leaving – “my sister and her husband have just bought this café.” Ah, confirmation of who the mysterious woman is – she is Dipi's sister!
Leo isn't too thrilled she's not leaving, explaining to her that he wasn't looking for anything permanent and she gives him a farewell hug but someone has witnessed the hug – Amy as she stood at the other side of the complex.
After Elly's words, Amy has found herself a date – some Australian Navy Commander (with a nice Scottish accent!) called Roger Cross and she is very forthcoming by asking if he wants to continue things in his room!
ROGER: You don't muck around, do you?!
AMY: Apparently this is what moving on looks like.
AMY: You're only here for 1 night and we both have to get up early in the morning, so why waste the little time that we have?!
ROGER: I like the way you think!
Sonya isn't impressed with her visitor – Steph, and asks if they can talk about it tomorrow! Steph lets her know she knows about the lawyer's letter and agrees she'd have been upset too if she'd been in Sonya's shoes. Sonya can't believe he'd let Angie get in his ear and Steph tries to explain that wasn't the case, Angie did it all off her own back.
STEPH: Sonn, Toadie doesn't want a divorce, he wants you guys to work it out.
SONYA: He's got a pretty funny way of showing it.
Steph then tells her that “this might seem silly in the circumstances,” then hands over a wee pressie to her – clicker thing that relives stress.
STEPH: Sonn, about your drinking.
STEPH: I just have one question. If you are honest with me, I promise I'll never bring up the topic again. Was last night just a blip or is it something we need to worry about? I'll believe whatever you tell me.
(Sonya shakes her head)
SONYA: I don't…I don't know. I'm, I'm trying to be strong but I just can't sleep and I just can't stop thinking about everything.
STEPH: I wish I could take some of that away from you. Would it… would it help if I moved back in? Would that help you to never drink again?
SONYA: You would do that for me?
(Steph silently nods)
SONYA: Even after how awful I've been and after everything that happened with Mark?
STEPH: I would. Our friendships stronger than that. If you need me, I'm here, you just say the word.
Steph the goes and hugs Sonya and she tells Steph “yes please” before breaking down completely.
