Number 28
Angus comes home to find Elly is upset and wants to go help her but she quickly rebuffs him and orders him to stay out of her life.
Cue titles!
Lassiters Complex
Sheila tells Brooke that she's lined up some shifts for her at The Waterhole this week, to which she is grateful for. Just as they (and Xanthe) are about to head off, she spots Mack sitting in the corner trying to look inconspicuous and makes an excuses to go over and talk to him.
Brooke is late with her payment and as previously warned, the penalty clause has kicked in and he threatens to tell Xanthe everything if she doesn't come up with the money this week. "I'll get you your money, whatever it takes," she tells him.
Number 26
Karl (and Ben) detour on the way to get a takeaway to enquire about the jewellery and if it's arrived. Sheila replies that Brooke isn't home but does confirm that last she heard, it was on its way. Ben is still adamant about what he saw and Xanthe pipes up to say she'll get her mum to call. Before they leave, Xanthe invites Ben to stay but he turns the invitation down.
Rotunda
Elly is still crying her eyes out when Angus arrives and tells him why she is upset. Angus thinks she's had a lucky escape and she then tells him about the miscarriage she suffered. "How stupid and desperate does that make me," she finishes with after telling him about jumping into bed with Derek as soon as they got back to #28. Piper than spots Angus comforting Elly after pulling her in for a hug.
Harold's café
"I really need to call you before you do something stupid," is the guts of the voicemail Piper has just left for Angus since he's not answering his phone as she makes her way into the store. Tyler happens to hear what she said and so she enlightens him about what she saw and that it looked "pretty intense." Piper pleads with Tyler to go talk to Elly as she will listen to him and it's the only way she can think of to stop "the train wreck."
Number 26
Gary isn't sure what is better, the sticky date pudding Brooke has brought home for dessert or the news she is getting some shifts in The Waterhole. The only person feeling glum is Xanthe (over Ben) and gets conflicting advice from Sheila (go talk to him) and Brooke (don't talk to him) before deciding to compromise by talking to him tomorrow.
Brooke sends Sheila (and Gary) away so she can cook dinner with Xanthe but before they do, they have a mother/daughter chat. Xanthe gushes for her love of being put right by Sheila (since Gran knows best!) and confirms to her mum that they didn't get on initially which caused Sheila to have a heart attack but it's all good now as long as she doesn't get stressed/takes her medication and you can literally see the wheels in Brooke's brain starting to warm up.
Number 28
Ben is doing the lovesick teenager thing by playing melancholy on his guitar.
Meanwhile, Karl wonders what Susan's take is on Brooke is and if she knows why she was absent from her daughter's life as way of trying to understand the tension between Ben/Xanthe. Susan doesn't think it's anything to do with Brooke but adds that she thinks them to have a break its good so Ben can concentrate on his schoolwork.
Angus arrives home and immediately helps Susan set the table for dinner because Elly is joining them... that is until Susan gets a text saying she's not joining them for dinner, she's catching up with Tyler. Cue Angus' happy face being replaced by a glum one!
Number 26
As she serves dinner up, Brookes plants the seed of doubt into Gary and Xanthe's mind that Sheila is looking tired what with running a house, working and looking after a teenager so they should up their ante and do more.
When she returns from being outside getting the washing, Sheila seems grateful on hearing the news of her extra assistance around and hopes that the supper Xanthe has made (chilli con carne) isn't too spicy after it gave her issues previously and Xanthe reassures her Gran it isn't... well that was until Brooke added some extra chilli to her plate unseen by them!
The Waterhole
"Bubbles makes everything amazing," Elly declares when Tyler meets her and refuses the offer of champers as he wants a soft drink. As Elly is in a talking (well slagging Derek off) mood so Tyler generously offers her his ear for the night.
Number 26
Xanthe can sense that there appears to be more wrong with Sheila rather than simple sweating as she tries to overcome the effects of the extra spicy chilli, despite Brooke's plea of ignorance that she went lightly with the spices. When Sheila mentions she is having some chest pains, Brooke tells Gary to forgo calling Karl and take her straight to hospital, which he does. Brooke tries to reassure her daughter that it will be okay but Xanthe feels guilty that she's potentially given her Gran a heart attack.
Number 28
Ben is still playing the melancholy music and Karl decides he's heard enough and tells him to go talk to Xanthe but he's still reluctant to do so as they'll likely argue and besides Brooke has made it clear she doesn't want him around. Karl again asks if he's sure Brooke got the jewellery (he is) and Ben wonders if there is something dodgy going down, adding that Xanthe won't like it if it's true nor him given he's pointed it out to her. "You can't let Brooke come between the pair of you," Karl says but equally Ben doesn't want it to come to a 'Ben or Brooke' choice for Xanthe either because that won't end well!
After Ben heads to his room, Karl agrees with Susan that perhaps Ben might be better off being single for a while.
Meanwhile Angus subtly asks Susan if she's heard back from Elly (no) and suggests they have an early night and he will finish clearing the place up. However, as soon as the door to their bedroom is closed, Angus puts on his jacket and heads out of the house.
The Waterhole
Despite being three sheets to the wind after all the champers she's drunk, Elly can still play darts with Tyler (she's imagining the board is Derek's head!) Taking a break to chat, Elly misinterprets Tyler saying that she needs to turn to someone that's close for comfort even if it's not a good idea, as him offering her his services. He lets her down gently but someone has come in at the last moment and got the wrong end of the stick - Angus! Angus thinks that its Elly's turn to need rescuing, despite Tyler saying that isn't the case and orders him to go home.
Number 26
Xanthe is relieved to hear from her dad that it is just indigestion Sheila has but they're keeping her in overnight for observation. The lassie is feeling guilty and Brooke reassures her she shouldn't be before then twisting it around and making it look like Sheila has run herself into the ground looking after Xanthe/Gary but together, they will help lighten the load but carefully so it doesn't embarrass Sheila.
Harold's café
Tyler reports back to Piper that he thinks she is right, that there is something going on between Angus/Elly. She isn't too amused to discover that he's left them both at #28, although Tyler does point out that Angus slammed the door in his face! "This could get messy," Piper declares especially since all Angus seems to care about is being close to Elly. Tyler decides it's the right time to apologise for what happened with Paige but she's more focused on stopping Angus crossing the line with Elly and this time it's her who is going to do something... once she's figured a plan out!
Number 26
Brooke confirms to Gary that Xanthe has gone to bed and he reassures her that Sheila is doing well and should be discharged first thing. "I've been foolish and I've made some terrible choices," admits Brooke before going on to tell him that the jewellery parties aren't working out. Gary tries to reassure her that she's got her job at the bar and he'll support her as much as he can too plus there is Christmas to look forward to and celebrate as a family. That hasn't cheered Brooke up and she confesses that she feels Sheila at times has been a better mum to Xanthe than she will ever be.
GARY: That's not true.
BROOKE: I abandoned my daughter.
Gary wants her to put the past behind her and move on and adds that she/Xanthe have a bond that can't be broken.
Number 28
Elly is lying on the top of her bed (clothed) when Angus tries to get her to drink some water but she refuses and instead asks to know what is wrong with her! Angus gushes her compliments before asking that she stops crying and tenderly (but equally creepy!) he strokes the hair that is lying across her face before kissing her (Elly has her eyes closed as if she's dropped off to sleep).
Meanwhile, Susan gets up to answer the door (Karl is seconds behind her) and Piper apologises for calling so late but she needs to talk to Angus. The K's are very bemused at her request, so thinking quickly on her feet, Piper says that Angus has a book that she needs urgently needs back for an assignment due tomorrow.
SUSAN: (bemused) This is about a book?!
Karl returns with the news that Angus isn't in his room and Susan wonders where he is and both look straight at Piper looking for an answer!
PIPER: I think Elly might know.
Susan then immediately heads for Elly's room where she is surprised to see Angus (who quickly sits up on her bed, it appears Elly is out cold).
SUSAN: What are you doing?!
