No 30
Toadie is shocked, and asks if Mark and Steph have asked her. She says no, but she knows how much Mark wants a child, and Steph can't give him one with her history.
TOADIE: Why you?
SONYA: Because I'm healthy, and I'm the right age, and they're our best friends.
She says she won't do it unless he's totally on board with it. He walks off, and the credits roll.
No 30
Toadie tells Sonya that surrogacy can tear families apart. She says it won't happen, so he goes on to say that surrogates have to have finished having their own family.
TOADIE: So... I mean, is that... is that what we're saying? Are we done?
SONYA: I'd love to have more kids... with you. But it's just... it's very difficult for us.
Sonya asks if he wants more, and he says that's the point: it's a conversation they've never had. Sonya says this isn't about their relationship, and Toadie wants confirmation it's not something she feels is missing with him. Before she answers, Steph comes in. She senses the tension and Toadie goes for a walk and Sonya disappears into Nell's room.
Hospital - Karl's office
Karl tells Angelina's mum and sister that Dr Adisa is one of the best neurosurgeons in the country. Dr Adisa tells them that she wants them to make an informed decision.
RENA: I make the wrong one, I could lose her.
Karl says they could wait and see. Dr Adisa says she will be around until the weekend while they make a decision. Paige is there as well (who asked her?) Paige tells Rena that it seems to be Angelina's best chance.
RENA: You're asking me to put my girl's life in that doctor's hands?
PAIGE: Better hers than anyone else's.
Angelina's sister Nikki turns on Paige, accusing her of looking after herself.
NIKKI: You're only pushing for this operation because you can't stand feeling responsible. Well that's too bad.
Paige leaves, and Nikki goes back to her tearful mother.
Hospital - outside
Toadie and Karl talk about surrogacy. Karl says that women do it out of love. "It's not a bad principal," the subtitles inform us. Maybe Karl meant Susan. Anyway, Toadie says he and Sonya are in a good place and he doesn't want to change anything. He says he thought that having kids was impossible, and Karl says another baby is still a possibily with IVF.
TOADIE: I just didn't know that we had made that decision.
Karl says that Sonya is proposing a "beautiful thing", and asks Toadie what his reaction would be if someone else were helping Steph and Mark.
Hospital
Paige tells Rena that Nikki was right: she does feel responsible, and she doesn't want to see Angelina wasting away. Rena says she wishes she knew what Angelina would want. Paige points out that she knows her best: what would she say.
RENA: It could all go so wrong.
PAIGE: I know you're afraid. I understand, I do. But what sort of life will she have if she stays the way she is?
RENA:(sobs)
PAIGE: Angelina is a fighter. That's who she is. And I think you know, in your heart...what she would do.
RENA: She'd take the chance.
Paige takes her hand.
Lassiter's car park
Amy and Jack are talking about Angelina and Paige. Amy promises to pray for Angelina, while Jack seems more concerned about Paige. A red sports car pulls up behind Amy's ute. A guy in a suit gets out, and asks Amy if she's a plumber or a brickie. Pfft. How rude. She asks him to move his car, but he says he won't be long.
Harold's - outside
Sonya asks Toadie if they can catch up later. He says he's got a lot of work. She tells him she doesn't want the "big topic" to get in the way of them. He agrees and they kiss.
Hospital
Nikki bursts in on Karl, Rena and Paige and she tells her mum she's weak for listening to Paige. Paige says she cares for the family, but Nikki tells her she'll be sorry for interfering. Jack arrives and tells her to get some fresh air. She leaves, slamming the door. Paige tells Rena that Nikki is just scared.
PAIGE: You made the right decision.
RENA: Did I?
Waterhole
Mr Suit smirks at Aaron, who asks Terese if she's been working out. She tells him to make it snappy. He tells her that Brad and Jack are doing great work, and they need the community behind them... and he offers her the chance for Lassiter's to become the main sponsor. She laughs, reminding him their last sponsorship ended in a pigeon-doping scandal.
AARON: Yeah, well then, here is your chance to repair your brand.
She agrees to give him $1000. He is very pleased with himself. Mr Suit keeps smirking, and Aaron catches his eye.
Rebecchi Law
Steph asks Toadie about Charlie's drone, and he's surprised that Mark hasn't told her that he'd given it to Jimmy. She comments that it feels really final, just like when she gave Adam to Dan.
STEPH: I feel like I've lost both My Boys™.
Toadie promises to renegotiate access, and reminds her that she can Skype / visit whenever she wants. She says that her dream of joint custody is over.
Waterhole
Mr Suit is on his mobile, telling someone that he's just arrived. Paul comes in, and Aaron tells him they're raising funds. Paul's not interested until Aaron says that Terese has given $1000. He offers to double it, providing the signage exclusively mentions his restaurant.
AARON: So Lassiter's gets...?
PAUL: Nothing... Nada... Zilch.
Aaron is a bit concerned at telling Terese, but nevertheless, he accepts Paul's offer. Mr Suit grins creepily.
Hospital
Jack arrives to see how Paige is doing. She tells him that Nikki is freaking out - and so is she. He tells her it's because she's caring. Karl comes along to tell them there's been a setback during surgery, and Angelina could have a stroke.
KARL: She might not make it.
Waterhole
Terese comes in and Aaron tells her about Paul, while Mr Suit continues to smirk at his nearby table. Terese offers $3000 provided they sign it off immediately.
AARON: You know, dumping Paul and accepting your offer right now, it just... seems a bit unethical.
TERESE: Yeah, well, you've already done it once today, so I'm sure you'll get over it.
Aaron agrees - it's for the kids after all! Terese reminds him that only their name should be on the billboard. She leaves to sort out the details. Mr Suit approaches and congratulates Aaron on the way he played Terese and Paul against each other. He also compliments Aaron on his shirt. Aaron looks pleased with himself.
No 32 garden
Lauren asks Brad about the fundraising, and gives him a cheque for $1000, which was supposed to be for her hens' night. Brad gets a text from Aaron telling him about Terese's $3000, which means he has the money he needs. Yay.
Lassiter's car park
Aaron finds Amy sitting on her ute. She is annoyed because she's been blocked in for hours. Aaron tells her he's raised money for Blaze, and a "hottie complimented him on his threads". Mr Suit walks up and Aaron points him out.
AMY: Your guy's my guy.
AARON: Really? Unreal.
AMY: Yes, not in a good way.
Mr Suit introduces himself as Leo. Aaron says it's a good name, like a lion, and he roars. Leo glances at Amy. Aaron gives Leo his card and tells him to call him. Leo says he might, and looks at Amy again. After Leo has left, Amy tells Aaron he has terrible taste in men. Aaron says Leo's perfect.
Rebecchi Law
Sonya brings some dinner for Toadie. He tells her that he saw Steph, who's really sad about Charlie. She says she's sorry that they have never talked about having more children.
TOADIE: The likelihood is that we could spend years trying and end up with nothing but heartache, I know. But the idea of actually shutting the door on that permanently, that's a lot for me to get my head around.
SONYA: Of course it is.
TOADIE: But maybe I should start trying. I'm not saying yes, I'm also not saying no, either. I really need some time to think about this.
Blaze Outreach
Paige rips up the poster for her fight with Angelina. Nikki comes in, and says her mum is spending her last few hours with Angelina. Nikki says she can't let Paige get away with what she's done.
PAIGE: Hurting me isn't going to solve anything. Where's this going?
NIKKI: You like to box? Let's box. Only this time no gloves, no referees. Let's see what you're really made out of.
