Erinsborough Hospital
Steph is on the phone to Charlie in the reception area, updating him on the situation. Karl rushes through with Mark on a trolley - they're taking him down to X-ray, as he has a collapsed lung. Steph tries to talk to him as they rush through, but Mark's unconscious. Karl promises to keep her posted. Steph is upset.
Here be titles.
Harold's Café
Aaron and Tyler are seeking legal advice from Toadie about the contract they signed with Angelina's manager for her appearance fee. Toadie tells them the contract is sadly watertight. The brothers are agreed that Paige can't fight as it's too dangerous, but Aaron has no idea where he'll come up with $12,000. Tyler suggests a loan but Aaron says there's no chance. His only cash is tied up in No 24.
Sonya hurries in. She explains to Tyler and Aaron that Mark caught Ari, but got stabbed in the process. She says they should get to the hospital.
Erinsborough Hospital
Steph is still waiting for news. Amy comes in - she's feeling guilty for having taken her eyes off Charlie, but Steph says it was Charlie's decision to jump the fence and wander off. Jack comes in; he's been talking to Ari, who refused to speak to anyone other than a priest. Ari has confessed to everything; he's been charged and will be taken to a psychiatric facility until the court appearance.
Steph appears uninterested in Ari, demanding to know what will happen if Mark doesn't make it.
STEPH: Everything was so perfect between us. I should've known that this wasn't going to last.
Amy offers to go and fetch Charlie so that Steph can see him before he flies back to Fiji. But Steph doesn't want to put Charlie through any more in case something happens to Mark while he's here. Tyler and Aaron rush in, asking how Mark is.
No 30
Toadie is on the phone (presumably to Steph), telling her to give him a call when she hears some news. Nell is eating lunch, and Charlie is sitting sombrely on the sofa, staring at his phone. Toadie tries to encourage him to eat, and then to do something fun with him and Nell - but Charlie's clearly feeling traumatised by his experience, and isn't interested.
Erinsborough Hospital
Tyler's had a text from Piper, asking if Mark's okay. Aaron gets a text from Angelina's manager, Lenny, asking what they're going to do about the fight. He wants either confirmation that the fight's on, or his $12,000, by tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Steph tells Sonya that Ellen Crabb has called, and explained how Ari confessed to everything that happened in Ramsay Street that they thought Clive West was responsible for - and even to running Jimmy off the road, although he claimed that was an accident. All along Steph was the target, not Sonya.
STEPH: I've been putting all you guys in danger.
SONYA: No, you can't blame yourself for that. It was as much about Belinda as it was about you.
Steph explains that's why Belinda met Ari, because she felt responsible. But she's gone back to Bega now. Sonya thinks that shows that Belinda finally respects Steph's relationship with Mark. Karl emerges; Mark's still in surgery, he explains, but the puncture in his lung has caused tension pneumothorax. In other words, air is filling up in his chest cavity and puts pressure on the organs.
Karl explains that a needle decompression is in progress to syringe the air out, but it's a very slow process.
KARL: The worry here is that the pressure could cut circulation to the heart.
STEPH: What, so he could have a heart attack?
KARL: Well, the surgeon's trying to keep on top of it.
Karl leaves, promising to bring news as soon as he has it. Steph gets very upset.
AARON: He's tough.
TYLER: Yeah, he's a Brennan. He'll pull through.
No 30
Brad has come round, having heard what happened, to give Toadie a hand. Toadie explains that Charlie's in a mood and that Nell won't stop pestering him to play with her.
NELL: Dance, Charlie, dance! Charlie, dance! Charlie, dance!
Charlie doesn't want to dance. Brad tries to distract Nell by asking to see some of her drawings, but Nell just keeps pestering Charlie.
BRAD: Come on, Nell - do you want to dance with me?
NELL: Charlie, dance!
CHARLIE: I told you, I don't wanna dance or play any stupid games, OK?! Get lost!
Nell looks upset as Charlie marches out of the room.
Erinsborough Hospital
Paige has arrived to see Mark, and encounters Jack in the reception, who explains Mark's still in surgery.
JACK: This must be hard for you.
PAIGE: Yeah. There was a time when Mark was my whole world.
JACK: Mark's a good man. And what he did was brave.
PAIGE: He would do anything for the person that he loves, no matter how dangerous.
JACK: Well, that's something you two both have in common. Danger doesn't scare either of you. Your upcoming fight?
Paige says that's different - boxing is a controlled environment. Jack is disturbed to learn that Paige is fighting Angelina Jackson, saying that she's been on the circuit for years. But Paige says her coach Carmen thinks she's ready, despite it being her first fight. Jack says Angelina is known for playing dirty.
JACK: Look, if I were you, I'd reconsider.
Meanwhile, Aaron is on the phone. He has updated his mum on the situation with Mark, and left a message for their dad Russell to call him back.
TYLER: Good luck with that.
Tyler, meanwhile, has called their sister, who is also freaking out. Paige comes in, and Aaron tells her that he's cancelling the fight with Angelina. Paige insists it's her decision, but Aaron says he's pulling the plug.
AARON: I just don't want your first fight to be your last.
PAIGE: It won't be. The fight's going ahead, with or without your support.
No 30
Charlie is fiddling with his drone, but the controls are broken - he tells Toadie he doesn't want it anymore.
CHARLIE: If I hadn't gone after it in the first place, Mark wouldn't be in hospital.
TOADIE: That's not true.
CHARLIE: It is, okay? It is! You didn't see it. It's my fault Mark got hurt.
TOADIE: No, the person responsible for hurting Mark is Ari. He's a sick man.
CHARLIE: Yeah, but Mark wouldn't have had to fight Ari if it weren't for me. He only got angry when I texted Mum. That's why he was trying to take us away.
TOADIE: Mark is a police officer, and he was doing his job. And even if he wasn't, he would do anything to protect you.
CHARLIE: He and Mum were so happy. He's a really cool guy. I've just gone and stuffed that all up.
TOADIE: Mark is gonna pull through this. And when you see him, I'm sure he's gonna tell you exactly the same thing as what I am. He would do anything for you because he loves you. And the last thing that he would want to know is that you're sitting around here, blaming yourself.
CHARLIE: I shouldn't have yelled at Nell.
TOADIE: No, you shouldn't have.
CHARLIE: I'm sorry.
TOADIE: Okay. I'm not the one that you should be saying that to.
Erinsborough Hospital
Jack is praying for Mark in the hospital when Amy turns up. She says she had a call from the police asking if she wanted to press charges against Mark for bugging the confessional. Jack says he had the same call.
AMY: The only one who needs to be charged in all this is Ari. For running My Boy™ down.
Jack asks Amy if she's still upset with Mark. She says not.
AMY: What Mark was willing to do for Steph, I've never had anyone do anything like that for me. I've never had anyone who's cared or loved me that much.
Jack takes her hand.
JACK: You're more loved than you realise.
AMY: I suppose you're gonna bring up God?
JACK: Mm!
AMY: Yeah, I can see the appeal. Someone who you can always rely on. Is that what it was like for you?
JACK: When I was young, growing up on the farm, I always got up early. I enjoyed the stillness, as the sun came up. And this one morning, as I was watching the sun rise, I felt this... clarity. This overwhelming love for something or someone. I just felt at peace and invigorated all at the same time. It was the most amazing feeling.
AMY: That sounds incredible.
JACK: Well, that's the feeling I get every time I pray. You could try. We could pray together.
AMY: Oh, I'd feel weird.
JACK: It's okay. You don't have to.
AMY: I wouldn't even know where to start.
JACK: Just keep it simple. Like you're talking to me, but it's God.
AMY: Yeah, I guess it helped when Jimmy was in surgery.
Jack closes his eyes, and Amy eventually does the same. Paige walks in and is upset to see them praying together. She leaves.
No 30
Brad is dancing with Nell, and fishing for compliments from her about how good a dancer he is. Nell looks unconvinced, but nods.
BRAD: I am? Good, cos you'll give me a complex if you don't say that.
They carry on dancing, when Toadie comes in wearing a tutu, and Charlie with a top hat and bow-tie on!
CHARLIE (to Nell): May I have this dance?
They start dancing together.
BRAD: You know, this is probably the one time where I don't mind being cut in on.
TOADIE: Hey, nobody puts the Toadfish in the corner.
BRAD: Give me all you've got!
Toadie and Brad start waltzing together!
TOADIE: Oh, Bradley! Such wonderful dancing! Catch me, Bradley, catch me!
Toadie throws himself towards Brad's waiting arms. We see Charlie and Nell laughing as a clattering sound is heard.
Erinsborough Hospital
Elly turns up with flowers for Mark. Karl asks if she's heard it was the snake-catcher who stabbed him, and says she'd have every right to talk to the police about the snake bite she had, and resulting miscarriage.
ELLY: I don't think so.
KARL: But you almost lost your baby. Your own life.
ELLY: I just want to let it go.
Meanwhile, Steph is on the phone to Charlie's dad Max, begging him to allow Charlie to stay for one more day and insisting he's no longer in danger. Her pleas fall on deaf ears; Max, as a long-term sufferer of Departed Character Personality Transplant™, wants Charlie back to Fiji immediately. Karl shows up, with news of Mark...
We cut to Mark's hospital bed, where he's conscious, albeit still hooked up to oxygen etc. Steph is very emotional.
MARK: How's Charlie?
STEPH: Yeah, he's okay. He's fine.
MARK: Then what's with the tears?
STEPH: It's just, you're the one in a hospital bed, tubes coming out of you, and you're asking if my son's okay.
MARK: I'm here. That's all that matters.
STEPH: Yeah. Karl said you'll be fine. I just - I never want you to do something so incredibly stupid and heroic again, okay?
MARK (coughing): I'll try not to.
STEPH: No laughing either.
MARK: Is there anything I *can* do?
STEPH: Just listen. What you did for me and Charlie was the most unselfish, loving thing. After all my stupid mistakes and my really bad decisions, I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have someone like you in my life. I love you so much. And so does Charlie.
MARK: I love you both too. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider moving out?
STEPH: No. But don't think I won't be the world's biggest helicopter girlfriend when you come home. You're going to be completely sick of me.
MARK: Impossible.
Steph kisses Mark.
STEPH: I don't know what I'd have done if I'd have lost you.
MARK: I'm not going anywhere.
Sonya, Aaron and Tyler appear at the door to see Mark too.
Shortly afterwards, Tyler and Aaron are having another chat in the waiting area. They discuss whether to tell Mark that Aaron needs the money from the house to pay Angelina's manager. Aaron says he may not need to - Paige seems insistent on fighting. But Tyler says they can't let that happen.
Paige comes in, and hugs them both, thrilled to have heard that Mark is going to be okay. Jack follows her in, prompting a sour face from Paige. He asks the brothers to pass on his best wishes to Mark, and then announces he has to head back to the parish.
PAIGE: With your new disciple, Amy?
JACK: She had some questions. I was more than happy to answer them, just like I did for you.
PAIGE: And you'll be joined at the hip now, I suppose?
Aaron tries to defuse the situation by suggesting Paige come for a drink with them at The Waterhole. But Paige says she needs to get back to her boxing training. Aaron and Jack both warn her that Angelina is dangerous.
PAIGE: I don't care. This is what I want. And I don't care what anyone else says.
She walks out.

Brad and Toadie are having a beer following their dancing exertions. Toadie (who is still wearing the tutu) thanks Brad for helping to look after Nell today. Brad says he's just happy to get some dance practice in before the wedding.
TOADIE: Yeah, what are you gonna do?
BRAD: Well, we're just doing a bridal waltz.
TOADIE: Sonya and I were gonna do that, too, but then we decided to go for something a little bit different.
BRAD: Yeah, I heard about your dance. And there's no way I can top that.
TOADIE: Yeah, of course there is, mate. With your moves.
Toadie suggests Brad and Lauren should dance during the ceremony.
TOADIE: I've seen it on YouTube. It's fantastic!
BRAD: Yeah, I don't know.
TOADIE: Lauren will love it, mate. Come on!
BRAD: Alright, I'll do it. As long as you do it with me, as my groomsman.
TOADIE: Oh, Brad! I'm honoured!
They hug. Brad explains that Karl will be his other groomsman, and Ned his best man.
BRAD: It's just a shame that Dad and Josh aren't gonna be there to share the day too.
TOADIE: Yeah. Yeah, I know. But I'm sure that Josh, being a dancer at one stage, would've been completely into it. Our little troupe will do him proud.
BRAD: Here's to that.
They clink bottles.
Erinsborough Hospital
Amy and Steph watch through the window into Mark's room, as Mark spends time with Charlie. Steph thanks Amy for bringing Charlie in. Steph apologises for Mark bugging the confessional, saying it was way out of line - but Amy admits she was worried Steph would be annoyed at her for reporting him, and that this might not have happened had Mark not been taken off the case.
Steph insists Ari is the one responsible for what happened, and says she'd have reported the bugging too if it was her. Amy says Mark was just trying to protect Steph, and admits she's a bit jealous of that. Steph tells her not to be too hard on herself. Meanwhile...
MARK: What do you reckon Karl said to me after the operation?
CHARLIE: Dunno, what?
MARK: 'That's enough out of you!'
CHARLIE: (groans)
MARK: I've got more!
Steph and Amy come in to join them. Steph tells Charlie they have to go to the airport now.
CHARLIE: I'm gonna miss hanging out with you. Even with the bad jokes.
MARK: Well, I can't do much at the moment. But by the time you get back, I'm sure I'll be up for whatever you want to do.
CHARLIE: Camping?
MARK: Sure.
STEPH: Oh, well, as long as I get to choose the place.
MARK: Yeah, I reckon that's up to me and Charlie. Two against one, hey?
AMY: Ooh, outnumbered!
Everyone smiles at the heartwarming family moment.

Paige is slow-motion power-skipping by the training equipment. A woman appears, smiling smugly and slow-clapping Paige's efforts.
PAIGE: You're Angelina - we have a fight.
ANGELINA: And you're the one I'm up against. Paige?
PAIGE: Yep.
ANGELINA: Is it still on?
PAIGE: Of course it is.
ANGELINA: I wasn't sure. Your promoter wasn't returning my manager's calls. I thought you'd got cold feet.
PAIGE: Well I haven't.
ANGELINA: I'd understand if you did. The last girl I sparred with ended up in a critical condition. She's still in rehab. Good luck with training.
Paige looks worried as Angelina walks away.
