- Ari sneaks into No 24 while Steph is calling Toadie
- Jack arrives and chases after Ari
No 24
Jack apologises to Steph for not realising sooner that she was in danger, adding that there's no easy explanation.
STEPH: I don't care. Give me the hard one.
roll.
No 24
Mark questions Jack, but he says he can't say anything, except that he's only just realised that it was Steph who was in danger. He points out that he tried to warn Mark earlier. Mark insists Jack give a statement on everything he's seen outside the confessional.
Rotunda
Gary gives Paul a list of guests who have stayed in the rooms at Lassiter's which had cameras. Yawn. Gary reckons that makes them even, but Paul says he gave him an alibi. Gary points out he doesn't need it, and he wants to spend time with Xanthe. Paul's not interested and sends him off to do something else. Whatever. Gary hears Paul calling one of the people on the list. He shakes his head and sighs.
Garage
Paige is doing press-ups, when Tyler gets a text about Steph's stalker. He tells her that Jack was involved and Paige wants to call to see he's OK. Tyler says she needs to train, and her focus has been off recently.
TYLER: It's important to take this seriously. You'll be up against an experienced boxer.
PAIGE: Exactly. The people that I'm up against have been fighting for years. Maybe Jack was right.
TYLER: Of course, Jack(!)
PAIGE: It's not about him.
Tyler accuses her of playing the Bible-loving good girl to make Jack realise he's made a mistake. He tells her not to give up something important for a guy who can't give her anything.
Terese's office
Madison tells Terese that there's a message from Head Office saying they've had complaints from customers. They try to work out where the leak was, and Terese decides it must be Paul.
No 24
Steph thanks Amy for looking after My Boy™. Tyler is annoyed that Jack would defend "some psycho" for a week, but Amy defends him. Paige wonders what he's been up to for the last week...
Church Office
Paige challenges Jack saying that he only started the Bible studies after he found out about the Snake Whisperer™, and he's been with her constantly since.
PAIGE: Were you spending time with me purely because you thought I was the target?
JACK:...
PAIGE: I am such an idiot.
She says she almost gave up boxing out of respect for his opinions but accuses him of not respecting her. He says he respects her, but he has no choice. She shouts at him, saying it's always about God.
PAIGE: What does your God say about honesty? What does your God say about leading people on?
JACK: I understand you're upset...
PAIGE: If your God wants you to protect a man who is out to hurt someone, I don't want anything to do with him, or you.
Harold's
Elly tells Ben she's got a migraine coming on. Lauren brings some food over for them and Piper and Brad. They are going to have a "family" discussion about the wedding, so Piper tells Elly to go home before her headache gets worse. Elly asks about the honeymoon. Brad says they would have to rob a bank to afford it and Piper says she would miss them. Lauren isn't fussed.
LAUREN: I have everything I want where I am.
Waterhole
Terese is offering a two-night complimentary stay to someone, but they turn it down. Mr Udagawa turns up for the Waterhole's quarterly review. He arranges to meet her the following day to talk about the hidden cameras.
MR UDAGAWA: Lassiter's management better not be at fault.
Terese sighs. Gary overhears.
No 24
Toadie gives Mark the vandalised doll which his partner bags up. He mentions the anniversary card, and Steph suggests contacting Belinda. Mark says no, and asks if there's anyone else who might hold a grudge, like Jacka's mates.
STEPH: Nah, it's not their style. They'd just hop in and break my knee caps.
Charlie comes into the room, saying he's worried, and Steph says it's "officially Fort Knox". Mark asks Toadie how he can challenge a priest's confessional privilege. Toadie says he can't.
Waterhole
Ned asks Ellie how she is. She says she's not too bad. He tells her to call in sick. Pfft - if she really had a migraine, she wouldn't be sitting in a pub. Anyway, Ned offers to try massage. Piper is sitting at the next table, and says it's gross.
PIPER: Tell mum I'll find another time to catch up with her, cos I just lost my appetite.
Elly takes a call from Gary, and Ned tells Piper to go easy on her(!) Ned assures Piper that Elly likes her, but is bad at showing it. Piper is as dubious as I am, but Ned wants to talk to her about an idea for Brad.
Terese tells Madison that she has no choice but to accept responsibility for the cameras. Madison says it's not fair, since she was the one who found and destroyed the footage.
TERESE: Paul could finally get his wish. I could lose everything.
Ramsay Street
Brad and Lauren comment about how Paige seemed distracted and Brad thinks maybe they should meet her for lunch. Lauren reminds him how busy they are and wonders if they have time to get married. Brad says they'll make time. As for the honeymoon...
BRAD: Sometimes I just want to whisk you away to the moon.
Not a lot of atmosphere there, so I've heard. Brad says it would be just them - and no work. So no difference there, then. Ned and Piper arrive in a VW camper van, which all the kids have contributed to.
PIPER: Mason, Amber, Bailey, Imogen, Paige. That's it, right? There are no others? Actually, you know what, don't tell me. I want to be surprised.
Brad and Lauren love it. Piper assures them it's roadworthy. She pats it and the bumper falls off.
PIPER: And people say inanimate objects lack comic timing!
Everybody hugs, then Piper and Ned leave. Piper congratulates Ned on his awesome idea, but Ned says it was Ellie's suggestion.
Terese's office
Mr Udagawa is waiting for an explanation of the hidden cameras, when Elly bursts in and explains that it was part of a media project and one of the students had got carried away. She apologises that it got out of hand, and leaves. Mr Udagawa seems satisfied.
No 24
Paige arrives for a training session with Tyler. She tells him that she's finished with Bible studies, but she doesn't want to talk about it.
Mark is discussing the Snake Whisperer Case with Det. Ellen Crabb. He suggests that the stalking has been going on longer than anybody thought. Starting with Jimmy's accident - maybe they were trailing Charlie. And Steph borrowed the car the day it was graffitied (as we spotted at the time).
MARK: And we've never had any proof that Clive was behind the snakes.
Not that he normally needs proof or anything. So anyway having apparently made "a compelling argument", he wants to bug the confessional.
ELLEN: You'll never get a warrant. And... anything recorded would be inadmissible in court.
He says he doesn't care - he just wants to protect Steph. She refuses.
Waterhole
Gary watches Terese shake hands with Mr Udagawa. He asks if she's had a good day, and she says yes. He says he's grateful to whoever sent Xanthe the footage. Terese denies all knowledge. She asks if Gary knows anything about Elly's mid-meeting drop-in. He says no, adding that Elly really gets Xanthe. He tells her that he's named one of his pigeons "Lassiter's", and she's got her first race next week. Terese says they need promotional opportunities.
TERESE: Consider us a sponsor.
Jack tells Amy that he's been getting advice and reading the Bible, and still believes that the confession is a sacred trust. She tells him that she's thought of coming to confession and the only reason she could come was if she knew it was protected.
JACK: Thank you. I just wish everyone else understood that.
Church
Mark is skulking about in the Church, and he puts a bug in the confessional.
School
Elly takes some tablets. Piper comes to say that she thought her idea of the camper van was good. She suggests they meet for coffee, which Elly turns down. Piper asks her for English tuition. Weird sounds and blurry pictures suggest that 1) Scott Major is directing 2) something is wrong with Elly. Elly refuses and Piper asks why.
ELLY: Because I don't like you, you skank.
Piper is shocked, and asks Elly to repeat what she said. Elly claims it was "no thanks" and walks off.
