No 30
Steph arrives back from getting a healthy desert for Charlie and Jimmy (presumably from Across Town™). She comments on how she's made muddy footprints, so she puts her boots outside, where the snake is lurking.
Roll
Outside No 26
It's late and Cooper is walking Xanthe home. She tells him to be quiet as "Gran is like a shark". He wants to come in, but she refuses. She does agree to a kiss... but Sheila arrives at the door.
SHEILA: What have we got here? Get lost Romeo! Move it. And as for you, Juliet, inside. You are not the first randy teen that I've busted macking on at my back door.
XANTHE: Gran, what the hell is "macking on"?
Sheila tells Xanthe she doesn't know why she's so keen on Cooper.
XANTHE: I'm not, TBH.
SHEILA: Well, TBH, why were you out there necking with him...
XANTHE: I cannot understand you...
SHEILA: ...when there is a perfectly lovely boy living next door?
XANTHE: Ben? You've never liked Ben before.
SHEILA: I like him now.
Amy arrives, and Xanthe and Sheila want to know how her date was.
XANTHE: Any macking on, as old people like to call it?
Amy says she's going to bed, and Sheila is concerned about her.
Lassiter's Hotel - outside Greg's room
A tipsy looking Elly asks Greg if he's seen her friends ("total babes"). He says no, and can he help her with anything else. She says she'd like some water, and he invites her into his room.
No 30
Toadie and Sonya are looking for something. Sonya asks Toadie if he looked under the couch. He says yes.
SONYA: Did you look under it properly, or did you do a Jarrod look?
TOADIE: I'm just going to ignore how offensive that is.
SONYA: Oh, you can ignore it all you like, but if I look under that couch, and I find it, there'll be trouble(!)
TOADIE: Ooh!
They leave for Anson Street, where the bike lane is being built. Steph and MyBoy come into the kitchen for breakfast. He says he didn't sleep, because he kept thinking "he was back in there". Steph offers to take him for a ride, which he thinks is awesome. She goes to get her boots. There's scary music, and she squeals... but it's not the snake, it's one of Nell's toys.
Ramsay Street
Karl cycles up the street, watched by the snake.
No 28
Ben is playing his guitar when Karl comes in, extolling the benefits of cycling.
KARL: Mind you, it'll be a lot more enjoyable when I don't have to contend with motorists hogging the road.
He says he's going to view the site of the new bike lane.
SUSAN: Yeah, yeah, you go and do that. I'll just sort out the weeding that you promised to do three, four, no, I think maybe five weeks ago.
KARL: Oh, thank you!
Susan reminds Ben about his film project, and Alison arrives. He tells her he's not in a good mood. He tells her it's Xanthe, and she acts sympathetic. He shows her a song he wrote for Xanthe, and she tells him to show her. He asks her to show it to Xanthe. At first, she refuses, but he persuades her.
Grease Monkeys
Charlie notices Elly tottering along on her high heels. She trips over a barrier, and breaks a heel. Steph offers to help, but Elly fobs her off.
No 26
Aaron is asking Amy about her date. She says it was "nice". Aaron says he saw "major chemistry".
AMY: What's wrong with "nice"?
XANTHE: (from the kitchen) I'd rather someone said they hated me than said I was nice.
AMY: Excuse me, don't you have better things to do, like a film project?
AARON: What happened?
AMY: So, we went back to his room...
SHEILA: (from the kitchen) You what?
AMY: Is everybody in this house constantly eavesdropping?! Nothing happened, OK, so you can get your jollies somewhere else.
She tells Aaron and Sheila that she started thinking about Kyle and Georgia and the last time she was in the hotel, so she just left. Sheila assures her she had every right to do so. Amy says she actually really liked him. She decides to text him. Aaron and Xanthe agree it's got to be carefully planned.
XANTHE: Are we thinking like a friend vibe?
AARON: I actually think it's got to be a bit naughty.
Amy looks increasingly doubtful as Aaron and Xanthe continue to discuss it.
Outside No 30
Sonya, Toadie, Karl and Susan are discussing the press launch of the bike lane the following day. Toadie thinks Sonya should turn the first sod with a shiny shovel. Sonya doesn't want to, so Karl volunteers. Susan is scathing.
SUSAN: You're not the mayor, Karl, Sonya is the mayor.
KARL: A little bit of support wouldn't go astray here.
You tell her, Karl. Sonya says that the bike lane should be ready in a couple of months. Susan is surprised it will take that long.
KARL: Since when were you an expert in road construction?
SUSAN: It's a bike lane, Karl, it's not a major freeway.
Karl and Susan leave, and Toadie spots Nell's ball. So does the snake. To be fair to the snake, he (or she) is giving it his all: it's just that he can't really sink his teeth into what the writers are giving him. Still, hopefully he'll get more character development than Paul.
TOADIE: I don't know quite what it's doing here, but it's not under the couch, baby!
No 28
Elly shows Karl and Susan her broken shoe, claiming she tripped over a barricade erected by the council. Susan tells her to sue the council. Karl asks why she hates cyclists so much, and she says she doesn't. She just doesn't want to see tax-payers' money being spent on a "vanity project" (and Elly's shoes) when she's seeing her remedial project struggling for cash.
KARL: If you had your way, you'd spend every penny of public money on education. It's not the answer to everything.
SUSAN: Yes it is, Karl. It literally is the answer to everything.
No 26
Aaron and Xanthe are still brainstorming Amy's text, and don't want her to send the one she's happy with.
Alison and Cooper arrive. Alison tells Xanthe that Ben wrote a song for her (Alison). Xanthe is upset, though she tries not to show it.
No 28
Elly leaves to get what's owed to her. Susan wishes her luck.
Ben tells Susan that Alison has been great. Susan suggests that Xanthe might be feeling the same as him, and that he should talk to her.
No 26
Ben arrives. Xanthe is reading the song, and she and Cooper are laughing at one of the lines. Xanthe mocks Ben, and he leaves, upset.
SHEILA: Proud of yourself, are you?
No 28
Alison has followed Ben, who is upset that Xanthe found his song so hilarious. She tells him she really liked it. She also says that Xanthe and Cooper might be getting serious. She invites him out to "talk properly", and they leave.
No 30
Elly is asking Sonya to cover the cost of the shoes.
ELLY: So you can understand it's pretty upsetting they've been destroyed by the council's negligence.
Steph points out she couldn't even walk straight, but Elly claims she doesn't drink. She adds that the council shouldn't have left all their equipment outside Grease Monkeys... Sonya says their construction site is further along, so she'll have to contact the relevant owner.
Harold's
Amy tells Aaron that "he" hasn't replied, which she thinks is a bit rude. Of course, at exactly this moment, the phone rings. It's a lady who's never heard of Greg.
AMY: He gave me the wrong number accidentally. He didn't give me the wrong number acci...
AARON: I've kind of pulled that one before. Not that I'm proud of it.
Aaron shows her the picture of Greg and asks if he should delete it. Elly is sitting behind her, and asks who it is. Amy tells her, and Elly says that he offered her a glass of water, then tried to "crack on to her". Well, that's a first. She's been working her way through half the male cast.
AMY: Delete it. Burn it.
ELLY: Good move.
AMY: At least I didn't go there with him.
On a desk somewhere
We see a video of Amy and Greg playing on a tablet. She tells him she wants to call it a night. He offers her another drink, but she refuses and leaves. He comes over to the camera, and says "Sorry, boss". A finger presses pause.
No 30 - front garden
Steph tells Nell not to go near the road. The snake is in her toy pram. Elly walks past, and asks Steph what her problem is. Then Elly sees the snake hanging out of the pram. She grabs her and hands her to Steph. Then she rolls around on the ground, presumably having been bitten (although the snake is still watching her from the pram).
Promo
- Steph tells Elly to focus
- Piper is not bothered, but Ben tells her Elly could die
- Karl tells Elly there's been a complication
- Sonya wonders if Clive is responsible.
- Toadie says the snake is still out there.
- Karl is stopping the infusion
