Steph is telling Amy about Paul's offer of his motel share in order to help him get a fake passport. Steph admits she was tempted, but says that going to prison broke her - she won't risk it again by aiding and abetting Paul's escape. Amy says that she wants to believe Paul is innocent, but that the Willises deserve to see him answer the charges.
As Steph mentions whereabouts in the national park Paul is hiding, Jimmy appears at the door from the bedrooms, overhearing their conversation. Steph says that if Paul's not back by the morning, she'll be letting the cops know where he is. Jimmy disappears back to his room.
Roll titles.
National Park
Paul is wandering through the wilderness when Jimmy appears! He tells Paul that Steph has told Mark where to find him. When Paul learns Jimmy has come out here alone by bus to find him, he tells him to get back on the bus and go back to school. But Jimmy points out that if he goes back now, the police, who are already on their way, will know Paul is nearby.
Paul relents, and acquiesces to Jimmy coming with him.

Lauren is looking pensive by the pool, when Brad comes out. Lauren is distant with him, and Brad surmises that she is annoyed he's keeping secrets from her with Terese.
BRAD: Believe me, it's complex.
LAUREN: Yeah. Even more of a reason to be honest with each other so we don't have this distance with each other.
BRAD: It's just not that black and white.
LAUREN: It should be.
BRAD: Well, in a perfect world, sure.
LAUREN: No! Right here in our world. We can choose whether we want to be honest with each other or not.
On that very subject, Lauren says there's something she needs to tell Brad about Ned. But in true soap style, Brad interrupts and goes off on a tangent of his own, saying how grateful he is to Lauren for helping to patch things up between him and Ned.
BRAD: You've embraced my son as your own and it's brought me closer to him. It means everything. So, you and Ned...?
LAUREN: ... Yeah, I was just gonna say he feels the same way. He really wants you to be able to trust him again.
Back on the subject of Brad's secret with Terese, Lauren says she guesses it has something to do with Josh. Brad confirms this, and Lauren says that in that case, she'll stop pushing.
LAUREN: You two have lost a son. There are things you need to deal with together as parents. Things I can't help you with.
Brad kisses Lauren and says he loves her; she returns the sentiment, but once he goes off for a run, she throws her hands to her face in frustration.

Sonya, Walter and Amy are in the living room. Walter offers to get Nell ready for daycare, and Sonya agrees, thanking him. Once he's left the room, Amy expresses her concern about how difficult Jimmy will find seeing Paul locked up - she's sure he'll go to jail for a long time. Walter pops his head back in.
WALTER: Do you happen to know where there's a pair of ice-cream socks?
Once he's gone again, Sonya admits she still doesn't know what to make of Walter.
SONYA: Sometimes, he's so incredibly open. And then the next minute, he just shuts me out.
AMY: What do you think that's about?
SONYA: Well, he and my dad didn't get along very well. Maybe it's that.
AMY: Do you think it's something more?
SONYA: I don't know. You know, he's talked about how much family means to him, and how grateful he is that we're in his life...
AMY: Yeah. But I mean, he must realise that you'd have some reservations about him.
SONYA: Yeah. But I'm trying to put those aside so I can get to know him again. Sometimes I think I was maybe a bit quick to do that.
Amy says she felt the same when she first arrived, and started reconnecting with Paul.
AMY: And he let me down. Time and time again. But he's my dad. It's not easy letting someone into your family. There are no guarantees it's gonna work out... Just be careful.

Lauren is still sitting by the pool, when Ned turns up.
NED: We have to stop meeting like this.
Lauren seethes.
NED: Sorry. Poor taste.
They have a brief chat about their plans for the day, but the atmosphere between them is frosty, and Ned quickly senses that Lauren doesn't want to talk.
NED: I don't want things to be weird.
LAUREN: it's a bit late for that, don't you think?
NED: Did you tell Dad?
LAUREN: ... I hate lying to him.
NED: Well, I was the one who stepped over the line, not you. Things are good between me and him now. They're probably the best they've ever been. Do you really want to mess with that?
LAUREN: You've been angry with Brad ever since you showed up. Always quick to say a bad word.
NED: I'm not proud of that.
LAUREN: So what's happened to change your mind?
NED: ... I was wrong to ever think that you might be attracted to me. And that got me thinking about what else I might be wrong about.
LAUREN: So just like that, you've let go of all your anger, all the resentment you've been holding onto for all those years?
NED: You wanted me and Brad to work things out, and now we have. You should be happy.
LAUREN: Anything else I need to know?
NED: No. There's nothing Dad needs to know either.
LAUREN: That is not your call to make.
Silenced by Lauren's coldness, Ned retreats into the house.
National Park
Paul and Jimmy are trekking through The Bush™, looking for a walking track. Paul is in pain from his collarbone, but pretends to Jimmy that he's fine. Once they get to a highway, he says, he's going to send Jimmy home in a cab.
Jimmy tries to convince Paul to give himself up; he's injured, without money and has nowhere to go. Jimmy's also upset at the prospect of never seeing Paul again if he continues to flee.
JIMMY: Look, I've lost my dad already. I don't want to lose you too. If you go to jail, I can come visit you.
PAUL: Jimmy, I don't want you to see me like that.
JIMMY: Well it's better than never seeing you at all!
Jimmy gets stung by a bee, and is having trouble walking as a result. He tells Paul to go on without him, but Paul isn't leaving him - and Jimmy holds onto him as they continue their journey.

Lauren is still by the pool, while Brad has a conversation on the phone with Terese, who tells him that the police still haven't found Paul. Brad then mentions that he saw Ned and Lauren talking before, and that things seemed a bit tense. Lauren insists everything's fine - they were just discussing the Paul situation, she claims.
LAUREN: Speaking of Ned, do you have any idea how long he's staying?
BRAD: No, why?
LAUREN: Oh, it's just - I just thought he might be happier in his own place, especially while you two sort out your issues.
Brad points out Ned doesn't have a job or any money, but Lauren keeps pushing the idea that it might be healthier for both of them if Ned was independent. Brad replies that there's plenty of room for them both at No 32.
LAUREN: Yeah. It's just, Paige works to support herself. There's no reason why Ned can't.
Brad says he'll talk to Ned, to work out what his plans are. Lauren heads off to work, and Brad looks worried.

Sonya comes in to find Toadie with the police report into her parents' fatal accident, which he says Mark dropped off earlier. He asks why Sonya didn't tell him she'd requested it. Sonya admits she thinks Walter knows more about the accident that he's letting on, but didn't want Toadie to overreact about it. Toadie reminds her they're in this together, and asks her not to lock him out.
TOADIE: Reading that is gonna be tough.
SONYA: I've just imagined that accident so many times, you know? I just pray that Mum and Dad didn't suffer. At least now I'll know, won't I?
She opens the report, draws a deep breath, and begins reading. She's shocked by what she sees.
SONYA: Walter was in the car with Mum and Dad. I asked him that, Jarrod, and he made a point of telling me that he wasn't in the car.
TOADIE: Well, clearly he's lying about something. The question is why?
SONYA: I dunno. But he knows the answer, and this time I'm not letting him off the hook.
National Park
We see brief footage of police legs running through the grass, then cut to Paul and Jimmy. Jimmy is all swollen and appears to be having an allergic reaction to the bee sting. Paul says they need to get him to a doctor. Jimmy then falls to the floor, saying his throat is hurting. So Paul lifts him over his shoulder and promises to get him home. Meanwhile, the police are closing in...
Harold's Café
Ned comes in and asks Lauren if she has 'any specials'. She coolly replies that it's all on the board! Ned tells her they need to get past him kissing her, but at that moment, Brad comes in and the conversation is cut short. Brad tells Ned that he's just been past the tattoo parlour at Anson's Corner, and they're looking for staff. Or he could apply to be a tutor on the after-school arts course.
Brad says that if the job opportunities come off, Ned should think about contributing some rent money - unless he wants to get his own place. He says he's happy living with them if they are, and Lauren assures him that he's part of the family, and always welcome - but doesn't look entirely enthusiastic. Brad gets a message from Terese; Jimmy's been found, and Paul's back in custody.
Erinsborough Police Station
Amy's relieved to see Jimmy and hugs him; Mark explains that the ambos have treated him for his allergic reaction to the bee sting. Jimmy says he didn't mean to scare Amy; he just wanted to help Paul. At that moment, Paul comes in, and Amy thanks him for 'putting Jimmy first'. Amy tells Jimmy to sit in the waiting room. Jimmy promises to visit Paul in jail, and Paul tells him to look after Amy.
Once Jimmy's gone, Mark tells Paul that the magistrate will reset his bail.
MARK: Although I can't imagine anyone paying it. Especially after what you've done to Steph. My guess is you'll be held on remand until the trial.
PAUL: Yeah, and then prison.
MARK: That's up to the judge.
PAUL: We both know that I can't win this.
AMY: Paul...
PAUL: I'm sorry.
AMY: No, we need you here!
Amy becomes tearful.
PAUL: Listen, Amy - I can't see you or Jimmy again, alright?
Paul is led away by Mark.
Harold's Café
Brad asks Lauren if everything's okay - she seemed a bit tense before. She insists she's just been busy. Ned comes in, having spoken on the phone to the tattoo parlour - they're giving him a trial run as a tattooist.
NED: Guess that means I'm staying put.
Lauren forces a smile, and Brad kisses her, before leaving. Lauren speaks to Ned.
LAUREN: Listen. I really want you and Brad to be happy, but... If you ever step over the line again, I'll speak up. I won't hesitate.

Walter comes in, and Sonya immediately confronts him about her parents' accident - saying she remembers everything about that day, except seeing Walter there.
SONYA: And you were there, weren't you?
WALTER: ... Yeah.
SONYA: Yeah.
WALTER: I didn't want to upset you by talking about it.
SONYA: I just want to know the truth now.
WALTER: Well, I don't know how I can help you.
SONYA: You were in the car, weren't you?
WALTER: Yeah.
SONYA: What were you and Dad arguing about before the crash?
WALTER: Oh, I don't remember.
SONYA: I think you do remember. Is there anything that I need to know? Anything that's gonna help me understand why that accident happened?
WALTER: He swerved to miss an oncoming car.
SONYA: And why wasn't he looking at the road?
WALTER: I dunno.
SONYA: That moment has shaped my entire life - do you understand that?!
WALTER: Yeah. I don't know how I can help you. Look - you've obviously got work to do. I'll just leave you to it.
Sonya nods, but looks angry and upset.
Erinsborough Police Station
Steph gives Paul back the piece of paper on which he signed away his share of the motel to her - but Paul pushes it back at her, saying he wants her to have his share, in lieu of the share she lost when he skipped bail.
STEPH: I knew there were risks.
PAUL: But you still took them.
STEPH: Paul, I can't.
PAUL: You deserve this, Steph. You deserve to build a better life for you and Charlie.
STEPH: Cecilia made a false statement. Now if you can just prove that...
PAUL: Steph, Steph! Just let it go!
STEPH: No, no - Paul! You talk about justice for Josh and Doug. How is that gonna be served if the real culprit's out there walking free!
The police come in to take Paul away.
STEPH: No, Paul, you've got to keep fighting this! Don't you give up!
But he doesn't answer as they lead him to the cells.

Sonya and Toadie are discussing Walter and the crash that killed her parents. Toadie thinks he may genuinely not remember what the argument was about, since it was 25 years ago. But Sonya doesn't think it's the kind of thing someone would forget. Toadie points out that it might be hard for Walter to talk about, since he was the only one who walked away alive.
SONYA: Exactly, he walked away! He left me, and he left Jade, and he didn't call! He didn't even write to us, he didn't even check on us. What kind of person does that, Jarrod?
Walter comes in, looking very emotional.
WALTER: I'm sorry. I never stopped thinking about you.
SONYA: Well that doesn't count for much!
Sonya demands to know what Walter and her dad were arguing about when the crash happened.
WALTER: ...
SONYA: If you cannot tell me the truth, then why should I let you back into my life? How can I ever trust you?
WALTER: ...
SONYA: Okay, alright. I'm done. I'm done with the games. Just, please, get out. Get out!
Walter starts to leave, then turns around.
WALTER: We were arguing because I wanted you to know the truth!
SONYA: The truth about what?!
WALTER: About who you really are.
SONYA: ...
WALTER: I'm not your uncle. I'm your father.
SONYA: ... Well, that's crazy.
WALTER: It's true. I'm your dad.
