Ramsay Street
Imogen and Daniel are discussing whether they'll get the marriage licence through in time for him to come to Los Angeles with her. She says she just has to wait for Toadie to come back to her.
DANIEL :So we're doing this?
IMOGEN: Yeah. There's no backing out now.
They're about to kiss, when Daniel spots a blonde girl in a hat apparently trying to climb into the open window at No 24. Handing Imogen his crutch, he rushes up to the house to confront the intruder. When he tries to prevent her from climbing inside, she promptly punches him in the face! But Daniel now recognises the girl.
DANIEL: Madison?
MADISON: Surprise!
Daniel's sister smiles at him, her arrival in Ramsay Street almost identical to her mother's thirty years before. Cue titles.
No 24
Daniel and Madison go into the house in the traditional manner, with Imogen. Madison says she just wanted to see if Daniel was home, and chastises him for not being more pleased to see her.
DANIEL: I am excited. I just wasn't expecting you - or that right hook.
They hug. We learn that Daniel has informed their parents, Scott and Charlene, about his marriage plans with Imogen - but that they haven't really arranged anything yet. Imogen explains her parents don't know.
IMOGEN: So if your parents are in the vicinity, please tell me now, 'cause that's gonna raise some serious questions.
MADISON: Relax - they're still in Brisbane.
DANIEL: But they'll be down soon?

But Madison doesn't answer, instead offering Imogen her condolences about Doug's and Josh's deaths. Daniel says that's why they're being careful about the wedding announcement - it's a sensitive time.
Imogen gets a phone call from Toadie about the spousal visa, and rushes off to take it. Daniel asks why Scott and Charlene didn't come down with Madison, but she again avoids the question, asking him to give her the grand tour instead. Daniel presses the point, and Madison comes clean.
MADISON: Look - a year ago you were marrying someone named Amber. Now you're marrying Imogen. Mum and Dad think you've lost your mind, and I'm here to find out if they're right.

Ben and Xanthe are busy Studying™ the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.
XANTHE: I hate him.
BEN: Who?
XANTHE Go-dott.
BEN: Can you stop saying that? It's Godot.
XANTHE: So why doesn't he just turn up already?
Ben loses patience and decides to go to the library instead.
XANTHE: Or we could go shopping! I found some amazing his-and-her faux fur Cossack hats. They're hella cute.
BEN: Xanthe - you talked me into this because you said you'd take it seriously.
XANTHE: I am! I actually read the thing! Most of it.
Ben packs his things away.

XANTHE: What? So just because I don't like Go-dott, you think I'm a flake?
BEN: No comment.

Ben leaves, just as Sheila and Amy come in. Sheila asks how the tutoring's going; Xanthe moans that she's having to learn things she doesn't need to know. Sheila gives Amy a letter that's addressed to her and Kyle - it's just a question from a customer about a warranty. Xanthe is aghast at how Amy is taking reminders of Kyle so much in her stride.
AMY: There's no point crying over someone who doesn't want to be with me.
XANTHE: ... Maybe you could be my role model.
SHEILA: Lord, let it be so!

Steph is making tea while Sonya is on the phone to someone about the hotel wreckage. The recovery team haven't been able to stabilise the basement yet, and after the call, Sonya tells Steph that Julie Quill is kicking up a stink about it. Steph says Julie just wants answers because of Tom's disappearance - but she reiterates that Paul isn't responsible.
Sonya's very stressed with work, particularly now the council is auditing her to ensure she wasn't linked to the corruption scandal surrounding Aaron and Tom. She's therefore having to prepare three years' worth of income statements, receipts etc, and is going through boxes looking for paperwork. Sonya remarks that Toadie's far more methodical than she is. Steph looks worried.

Daniel and Madison are still discussing his planned wedding to Imogen.
MADISON: I know you're in love. I've seen her Instagram.
Oh, well then - that settles that.
DANIEL: Yeah, so Mum and Dad should be cool with it too.
MADISON: It's the rush to the altar we all don't get. If I'm about to become an auntie...
DANIEL: Hey, no. It's not that.
MADISON: Is there anything else you need to tell me?
Daniel tells her about Imogen getting a job in US, and their plan to get Daniel a visa - but he says he wanted to tell Scott and Charlene that in person.
At that point, Imogen comes back in, having finished her phone call with Toadie. She tells Daniel that the plan is to 'bribe' their old chum Judge Jan Barton (Episode 7218) with a 'bag of cash' to fast-track the marriage licence, if she doesn't accept her logical arguments for expediting the application first. Daniel offers to come with Imogen.
DANIEL: Jan Barton loves me!
But Imogen tells him she'll handle it, leaving Daniel to spend time with Madison. Daniel thanks Madison for not judging him.
MADISON: Mum just needs to know this won't all end in tears. Or a Well™.

Daniel insists it won't. Madison says she's missed him, and their uncle Paul too. Madison opines that there's 'no way' that Paul is guilty of causing the explosion, and says she wants to hear what he has to say.

Steph is cleaning while Sonya is still rifling through boxes of files. Toadie comes in, just as Sonya takes a red file out of a box. Toadie sees it and snatches it out of her hand, saying Sonya shouldn't be going through his archive boxes; if she wants things from them she should make a list and ask him for them, as these are confidential client cases. Steph looks uncomfortable in the background.
Once Sonya's left the room, Steph challenges Toadie about not wanting Sonya to find out what's in his file. Toadie begs Steph never to mention to Sonya that Toadie asked her to destroy the red file. She promises she won't, but says Toadie should - as he's acting 'super sus'. If Sonya gets curious and starts searching, Toadie might not be able to control what she finds, Steph says.

Xanthe is complaining to Piper about how Ben clearly doesn't respect her. She claims she's decided to 'bravely move on' with her life and put the 'break-up' with Ben behind her.
PIPER: Can you really break up with someone if you weren't in a relationship with them?
Xanthe points out that Piper was guilty of pursuing the same kind of 'relationship' with Tyler. In any case, Xanthe says, she's going to concentrate on her career from now on.
PIPER: It's never too early to take up taxidermy.
XANTHE: Oh, Piper, please - I don't even have my licence! And I won't need one when I take the social media world by storm. The Jenners don't drive themselves, you know.
Xanthe says that, since Piper needs a distraction, she should help her put together her portfolio by taking pictures of Xanthe to put on her social media accounts. Piper looks less than thrilled by this prospect, but agrees nonetheless.
PIPER: But are you really sure you want to put yourself out there like that?
XANTHE: Babe, I was born to be famous.
Ramsay Street
Daniel and Madison are gazing wistfully at No 26, where their dad Scott grew up.
MADISON: Remember all those times Dad would say, 'I was your age once'?
DANIEL: Mm.
MADISON: I still don't believe it.
DANIEL: If these walls could talk, I reckon they'd have some serious dirt.
Xanthe rushes down the drive towards Madison.
XANTHE: I don't know who you are, but it's like the universe has finally decided to listen!

Daniel introduces them, and Xanthe explains her plight; she's about to do a photoshoot, but doesn't have anything suitable in her wardrobe.
XANTHE: I know this is a really weird question to ask, but can I borrow your jacket?
Madison happily hands it over, as well as an outer-layer top she's wearing beneath it, her shoes and, on Xanthe's request, her hat.
XANTHE: Thank you! I think I love you.
Xanthe scuttles back inside with all Madison's trendy clothes. Daniel gets a text from Paul, explaining that he's thrilled Madison is in town but can't see her today (he's Not In This Episode™). Madison asks if Daniel will take her to see Amy instead - once she's got some more shoes and a jacket on.

Tyler is working when Ben shows up to say hello. Tyler asks how Piper's doing, but Ben says he hasn't seen her much lately as Susan is making him study all the time. Tyler says that, as one of her mates, Ben should be there for Piper, and encourages him to check in.
BEN: Why don't you?
TYLER: ... I'm snowed under. Look, man - I know it's not easy.
BEN: There's nothing you can say, is there? I mean - what can you say?
TYLER: It's not about fixing it. You just have to stop avoiding the hard stuff, and be there for her.

Xanthe is modelling Madison's clothes for the photoshoot with Piper, and poses for a shot.
PIPER: Alright - say 'prune'!
XANTHE: Say what?
PIPER: 'Prune'. It's the new thing.
XANTHE: What happened to 'cheese'?
PIPER: Cheese? Cheese is... cheesy! Prune, it's sexy.
XANTHE: I can't say 'prune' without thinking about old ladies.
PIPER: Well, all the selfie experts and models agree - 'prune' is the word.
XANTHE: Prune!

Piper takes a photo but it doesn't come out quite as expected. So she tells Xanthe to relax more. At that moment Ben turns up, and asks if he can come in - but Xanthe says no, since they're busy. Ben says he wanted to check up on Piper.
PIPER: That's nice.
BEN: Actually, Tyler suggested it.
PIPER: ... Oh.
Having thus checked up, he prepares to leave - but stops when he hears Xanthe saying 'prune' to the camera, and says it's the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard.
PIPER: No, there is an art to posing.
BEN: It's not rocket science. It's just pulling a bunch of faces.
Xanthe challenges Ben to do better, and he does - posing for a series of photos which seem to impress Piper.
BEN (posing): It's hot... It's cold... It's Blue Steel.
Xanthe watches, lost for words.

Toadie comes in with a file that Sonya's asked for, and gives it to her. She's clearly in a mood with him, and he apologises for coming on too strong before. Sonya says she'd never look at his client files if she came across them.
TOADIE: The truth is, I was worried that you'd find out what I'd done.
SONYA: What?
TOADIE: A little while back, in the name of what I thought was a worthwhile cause, I actually gave a guy a cheque for five grand... Turns out he was a total scam artist.
SONYA: Well, how did you find out?
TOADIE: I got Stonie to look into it. And he disappeared, along with the money.
SONYA: Well, why didn't you tell me, Jarrod?
TOADIE: Embarrassment. I should never have let the guy in the front door.
Sonya asks if the scam was a fake charity.
TOADIE: It was just something that was close to my heart. But you know what - the point is that I should never have kept it from you. And I really am sorry.
Harold's Café
Xanthe, Piper and Ben are reviewing the pictures they've taken of Xanthe, but she doesn't like any of them - calling them disgusting, gross and embarrassing.
XANTHE: You haven't captured my soul.
BEN: That's 'cause you've not got one.
Piper laughs at the joke, but Xanthe is obviously hurt. Madison comes in, and asks them how the photoshoot went. Xanthe says it was terrible - she didn't do the clothes justice.
MADISON: Okay, that's giving way too much power to a few pieces of fabric. You can't start hating on yourself because something's not your style.
She adds that all photos in magazines are airbrushed, perfectly lit and taken by the best photographers - so it's not fair for Xanthe to compare herself to them. Xanthe remarks that Madison's like her, but 'a thousand times better'. Madison remarks on Xanthe's lack of self-confidence.
Xanthe announces she's going to get a professional photographer to do a portfolio for her.
XANTHE: I've been saving up heaps recently.
Ben looks worried.
XANTHE: These photos look like they were taken by a blind person at a fat-farm. Just to be clear, I'm the one that's fat.
MADISON: You're not. And even if you were, so what?
Piper, who's annoyed at her photography being criticised, tells Madison not to bother trying to convince Xanthe, and walks off. Ben then calls Xanthe 'dishonest and pathetic' for talking about fake savings - saying that what they've done in taking the money is already bad enough.
XANTHE: You spent some of the money as well.
BEN: Not on some superficial, narcissistic photoshoot.
Xanthe strops off, saying Ben can pay the café bill since his money's so clean. He looks worried.

Imogen reports back to Daniel and Madison with news that Judge Barton is going to consider expediting their marriage licence, but wants to be convinced that they're both committed to their relationship. As a result, they have to provide documentary evidence of their relationship so far - so Imogen produces a box of souvenirs she's been collecting, including the receipt from their first date.
DANIEL: And they say I'm the romantic!
IMOGEN: So can you help me figure out the dates and put this on a spreadsheet?
DANIEL: That pretty much kills the moment.
But Daniel reveals he also has the tickets from the first movie they saw together, to add to the evidence pile. They start kissing.
MADISON: Should I leave?
Imogen suggests Daniel should speak to his parents, saying she'd hate to think they weren't on board. But Madison says they should just make a copy of the evidence they compile for the judge, and she'll present the second copy to Scott and Charlene!
Harold's Café
Tyler comes in to find Piper fiddling with her camera. She's upset about Xanthe criticising her photography skills. Tyler looks at the pictures and says he thinks they're great - she's made Xanthe look classy.
TYLER: With your talent, the problem is real simple. You're special. Sometimes being special means waiting for everyone else to catch up.
PIPER: I just don't get why she's being so hard on me.
TYLER: It's probably Ben, not you. She likes him. And when you hang around someone you like, you do and say crazy things.
PIPER: Yeah, I know how that feels! Thank you for being such an amazing friend right now. I really appreciate all your support.
But Tyler suddenly backs off as if he's heard something that makes him uncomfortable, saying he's starving and needs to get takeaway. He exchanges a look with Piper as he waits at the counter.

Sonya confides in Steph about Toadie's strange reaction with the red file. She repeats what Toadie told her, about being conned out of $5,000 'by some fake charity guy', and asks if Steph knew about it. She says it's news to her.
STEPH: So that's it - that was all?
SONYA: Yeah. I mean, I know it's not a big deal. It's not like he was misusing money or anything like that. I think it's just the hiding that's made me upset.
Steph says she understands, but when Sonya asks if she thinks there's more to it, suggests it's something for Sonya and Toadie to talk about. But Sonya says she doesn't want to make Toadie feel any more ashamed by discussing it further, so is just going to let it go. Steph looks concerned as Sonya walks away.

Piper comes in to see Ben, who's busy studying. He invites her in to join him, but seems less thrilled when she says she's come to talk about Xanthe.
BEN: Why would we want to talk about Xanthe?
PIPER: Because of that. Look, Ben, I'm very familiar with how it feels to like someone who doesn't like you back... Xanthe really likes you, Ben. And in return, you're mean to her all the time.
BEN: She's an airhead!
PIPER: Well, she can't be a complete airhead if she's managed to save money working at Harold's.
BEN: She hasn't saved anything. We found the money she's got.
PIPER: What money?
BEN: ...
