Piper turns up to speak to Tyler.
PIPER: I need money!
TYLER: You should try starting with 'hello'. You might have more luck.
He offers her $50 nonetheless, but when she indicates she needs more, he asks what for. She tells him she's going to Perth with Brodie, but when Tyler responds by asking if she's nuts, Piper storms off to find someone else to sponge money off.
Two, one - titles.
No 30
Steph tells Mark she's feeling bad for dropping Piper in it with her parents, as regards staying at the motel. She's also worried Terese will be mad with her for renting the room to Brodie.
MARK: She's the one that raised the tearaway.
STEPH (flirty): I thought you liked tearaways?
MARK: Oh, I do. But only a select few.
They start pashing.
STEPH: You're so nice. Why weren't you nominated for Citizen of the Year?
MARK: I know, right?!
Sonya walks in on them kissing, and her embarrassment is evident. She quickly changes the subject to tell Mark and Steph that Tom Quill is out on bail. Mark already knew, and says Tom has a lot of money for good lawyers, despite all the charges he's facing. Julie Quill is claiming that Tom went rogue, Mark explains, and not supporting him.
SONYA: I don't know what to believe.
MARK: Clearly, she's throwing her stepson to the wolves.
Steph is pleased regardless, as it means Lassiter's reputation is in trouble, which can only be good for the motel. She and Mark embrace again, then remember Sonya's still standing there, and pull apart. Sonya looks awkward.
Harold's Café
Nene and Amy are talking about Nene's new role as creative director at the motel. Nene admits it's been great reconnecting with Paul, and admits that she and Paul kissed. Amy looks unpleasantly surprised, but Nene insists she knows what she's getting herself into.
Amy's sceptical that Paul is on the same page as Nene, but she insists he must be, since he's invited them over for brunch. Amy explains why Kyle and Jimmy are Not In This Episode™ but says she'll be there herself.
AMY: Paul and I are overdue for a little chat.
Aaron and Tyler come in. Aaron's moaning to Tyler about his latest career collapse; he says he doesn't really want to back to working at the garage. Tyler sees Brodie buying a drink, and Aaron tries to persuade him not to speak to him - but Tyler ignores him.
TYLER: You're Piper's boyfriend - Chas, right?
BRODIE: I'm sorry, have we met?
TYLER: I recognise you from a photo on her phone.
BRODIE: Oh, yeah, you must be Tyler. Piper told me about you and the, err, man-bun.
TYLER: Listen - I don't think you should be dragging her off to Perth.
BRODIE: What do I care what you think? She's my girlfriend - you had your chance and you blew it.
TYLER: That's not what this is about! Can't you see she's freaking out?
BRODIE: Yeah, because her parents are stressing her out. But once we get to Perth and we're settled in, she'll calm down.
TYLER: Settled in?
BRODIE: It's none of your business.
Brodie walks out before Tyler can ask him any more questions.

Steph and Mark are looking on the computer for presents that she could buy Charlie. Steph's a bit nervous about getting anything too expensive - she doesn't want Charlie to start expecting presents every time he visits.
Mark starts giving Steph's shoulders a massage, since she's a bit stiff - and Sonya walks in again! Clearly flustered, Sonya goes to do some filing - in her room! Mark and Steph look sheepish.

Amy comes round for Paul's brunch early, as she wants to talk to Paul before Nene gets there.
PAUL: That sounds ominous.
AMY: It might be.
When Amy brings up the kiss, Paul explains that Nene kissed him - and that he hasn't really thought about her in that way. Promising to talk to Nene and straighten things out, he admits there's someone else on his mind anyway. Amy presses for more detail, and Paul admits it's Terese - but that they've decided not to pursue things.
AMY: But you're not over her?
PAUL: Not really.
AMY: You need to shut things down with Mum. She's the type who falls quickly and hard. And I don't want to see her hurt again, okay?
PAUL: Alright. Okay.
Robinson's Motel
Piper is sitting alone in Brodie's room, and suddenly grabs her bag to leave. Brodie comes in and asks where she's going; she claims she's going home to get some more clothes for their trip. Brodie says she shouldn't go as her parents will be waiting; he claims Tyler has told them everything.
BRODIE: He came up to me and told me that he's never gonna let you leave?
PIPER: Seriously?
BRODIE: Yeah, it was really weird. He got all aggro, got in my face, making all these threats and stuff.
PIPER: That doesn't sound like Tyler.
BRODIE: I dunno. Maybe he's different when you're not around. Look, everyone here is trying to get in your head, Piper. That's why it'd be good for us to get out of here. Please, just - come with me.
Piper looks worried.
Outside the motel, Steph and Mark arrive, discussing how uncomfortable Sonya was with their public displays of affection. There are some boxes outside the motel, and Steph realises that it's the booze she's bought for the minibars, from their new suppliers. Mark takes one look at the label and announces that the booze is stolen!
MARK: This company reported a theft just a few days ago. It's the same product, the same quantity!
Assuming Paul is up to something dodgy, Mark is about to call the station to report it, but Steph asks him to wait, saying it could just be a legitimate coincidence. Steph promises to call Paul and get to the bottom of it, but Mark looks worried.

Nene arrives for brunch. Paul explains he's sent Amy to pick up some pastries, and Nene looks excited for them to be alone together! Paul, however, sits her down and says he hopes he hasn't given her the wrong impression.
PAUL: When we kissed, as lovely as it was, it just - it can't go anywhere.
NENE: Oh, right...
PAUL: You see, your health is the number one priority at the moment. 'Cause when you're well you're an incredible woman. And I don't want to distract you from getting back to 100%.
Nene says she understands and makes out that she's fine with it, but does look disappointed. She claims she kissed him hoping that some of his newfound success would rub off on her; he replies that the key to success in any endeavour is endurance.
NENE: Good advice. Thanks, boss. You should think about doing seminars!
They laugh about Paul's failed motivational seminar programme, but he points out that it did at least get him a business partner in Steph. Paul goes to make the coffee, while Nene looks wistful.
Robinson's Motel
Steph is waiting in the storeroom when her biker mate Jacka arrives. It becomes clear that she'd bought the booze from him, and asks where he got it. When he just laughs, she realises it was stolen. He gets up very close to her.
STEPH: You said this was all above board!
JACKA: At those prices?
Steph's annoyed, and backs away from him, but he's acting as if he's making a pass at her.
STEPH: Hey, this stuff has been identified as stolen.
JACKA: By who?!
STEPH: Mark.
JACKA: The cop? You'd better not dog on me. You know I have a bad temper. So do my mates.
STEPH: I have to tell him something.
JACKA: That's your problem.
Jacka finally moves away from Steph and leaves. She looks worried.

Amy comes in with the pastries to find Paul and Nene laughing together about the good old days when they worked as flight attendants. While Paul gets brunch ready in the kitchen, Nene tells Amy that she's gathered she's had a word in Paul's ear about her - but says it's fine, and agrees with Amy that she needs to concentrate on her health, leaving romance until she's in a 'good place'.
Paul comes to join them, and Nene points out that this is the first time she can remember that the three of them have been all together, and happy.
PAUL: Let's hope it's not the last, eh?
Nene decides she wants to take a selfie of the three of them for posterity, and they all laugh as they pose for a picture.
Robinson's Motel
Piper is getting cold feet about their week-long road trip to Perth, pointing out that it will take three days to get there, and another three days back. Brodie says the important thing is that they'll be together.
PIPER: It just feels weird not saying bye to anyone.
BRODIE: Piper, we've been over this.
PIPER: You know, if you love someone, you shouldn't force them into doing something they don't want to do.
BRODIE: Is that how you see me now? I'm a bully, am I?
PIPER: No!
BRODIE: So what do you mean then?
PIPER: I'm just not sure that I want to go anymore - that's all.
Brodie continues to insist they can't be together properly with Piper's pushy friends and relatives breathing down their necks. So Piper eventually agrees she's still in. She doesn't look happy about it, though. While she's in the bathroom, Brodie takes her phone, and puts in his hoodie pocket...
Harold's Café
Mark and Sonya are having a coffee. He explains about the stolen goods at the motel, but says he's waiting for Steph to get to the bottom of it - but adds that he hopes she's not buying time to protect Paul. Sonya remarks that Mark and Steph may have some trust issues.
MARK: Do you have a problem with me and Steph being together?
SONYA: ... Not really.
MARK: Well, that's a ringing endorsement (!)
SONYA: Well, it's just it's a bit odd, that's all.
MARK: You've never had a problem with any of my other girlfriends. Apart from Naomi. But you and Steph are meant to be friends.
SONYA: We are!
MARK: Then what's the problem?
SONYA: Well, it's just that Steph is Jarrod's best friend, and you're my best friend, and now Steph's your girlfriend! And even though it may not be intentional, she just has this way of monopolising all the people in my life! Why are you smiling?
MARK: You called me your best friend!
SONYA: Well you are! And if I'm being honest, I just think that I'm - I'm jealous. And you always used to come over to see me; now you just wanna see her! And I'm saying this out loud, and it's stupid!
MARK: No, no, it's okay. I get it. I get it. But no matter what happens with Steph, or any other girlfriend, for that matter, you are always gonna be a huge part of my life.
SONYA: Good... Do you think that it's serious with Steph?
MARK: I dunno. But you know that I want something special. I want what you and Toad have got. That might be with Steph or it may not be.
Robinson's Motel
We cut to the motel, where Steph is looking worriedly at the boxes of stolen booze. Sonya's voice is overlaid.
SONYA: Well I do think that you would be good for Steph.
MARK: I think we'd be good for one another.
Harold's Café
Mark continues talking with Sonya.
MARK: And after everything that's happened with Paige, it'd just be nice to be with someone who's always straight with me.
Robinson's Motel
Steph is looking very worried.
Harold's Café
Aaron continues to moan to Tyler about his employment situation.
AARON: Man, I loved working for Sonya. I thought we were gonna be the next Rudd and Gillard, or Abbott and Bishop. Guess I need better role models, hey?
Tyler's not listening - he's too busy concentrating on a text he's sending. Aaron grabs his phone, and realises he's texting Piper. Tyler admits he's worried that Piper isn't responding to his texts, and is considering calling Brad, saying he can feel that there's something wrong. But Aaron advises him not to get involved - Piper's not underage, and her parents know who she's with.
AARON: And the big one? It's none of your business, Gertie.
TYLER: She's my friend.
AARON: Yeah? Well it sounds like a lot more than that.
TYLER: ... Whatever. I just want to make sure she's okay.
AARON: Yeah. I get it. Just don't go sticking your nose in where it's not wanted.
TYLER: Alright.
Aaron hands Tyler's phone back.
No 22
Nene is clearing up after brunch, while Amy talks to Paul. She thanks him for setting Nene straight.
AMY: I just want her to be well.
PAUL: I know you do, darling.
AMY: And I want you to be happy too.
PAUL: Alright, why do I get the feeling that you're about to offer some advice?
Amy asks if he's really going to give up on Terese so easily. Paul admits it's torture being in the same house, knowing nothing can happen.
AMY: Maybe it can.
PAUL: You think so?
AMY: Mum might not be ready for a relationship. But, you know - you might be.
In the kitchen, Nene admires the selfie she took of her with Paul and Amy, and smiles.
Fitzgerald Motors
Tyler is at the garage, but still worrying about Piper. He decides to text her, asking 'You still in town? Call me!!' He quickly receives a reply, which reads, 'I'm with Chas. Stop texting me.' Tyler looks worried.
Robinson's Motel
Mark comes to talk to Steph, having received a message from her. She explains that he was right about the alcohol being stolen - and that it wasn't Paul who bought it, but her.
STEPH: I am really sorry for not being straight up. I got the stuff off a mate; I had no idea it was hot.
MARK: Surely you suspected something?
STEPH: I just wasn't thinking. I was just so focused on wanting everything to work out. And I guess I was really wanting to show Paul that he wasn't the only one with a head for business.
MARK: Steph!
STEPH: I know, I know. Really dumb. Can you just please not say anything?
MARK: It's a bit late for that.
STEPH: What do you mean?
MARK: I've already called it in.
STEPH: What?!
MARK: What do you expect? I'm a cop!
Mark insists he was looking out for Steph, thinking Paul was responsible.
STEPH: By launching an investigation? Mark! No, this - this could sink our business! Paul's gonna explode.
No 30
Paul is exploding.
PAUL: The motel means everything to me, and I thought it was the same for you!
STEPH: It is! It is.
PAUL: Oh, really? So why did you go to your dodgy mates for some backdoor deals?
Steph argues that Paul's been spending loads of money on the Citizen of the Year event - she just wanted to be able to save on something. She wanted to believe Jacka was 'on a level', she adds.
PAUL: Oh, don't be so green! To make a move like this is absolute idiocy!
STEPH: Okay, okay - I stuffed up, right? But you're gonna have to yell at me later. Right now I'm meant to be making a statement with the cops.
PAUL: You do realise that you've put the Citizen of the Year event in jeopardy? And all because you wanted to save 10% off our alcohol bill.
Steph apologises, promising to explain everything to the cops and blame Jacka.
PAUL: You've gotta be kidding! You remember what he was capable of? The last thing we need in the lead-up to this event is some bikie hell-bent on revenge! No, you will NOT mention his name!
STEPH: I can't lie to Mark.
PAUL: Oh, are you telling me that you're involved with him as well? See, I thought the whole reason you got into this business was for your son Charlie. Now you're putting that at risk because of some misguided loyalty to Mark?
STEPH: No, it's not how it is, Paul!
PAUL: Well the choice is simple, Steph.
STEPH: You want me to lie on my statement?
PAUL: Only by omission. See, if you don't, you may as well say goodbye to the business, and to your son.
A roadside somewhere
Brodie has pulled over to get some supplies from a shop. A cheerier Piper asks for some headache tablets, but he says he's already bought some - they're in the glove compartment. While Brodie's out of the car, Piper checks the glove compartment but can't find the tablets, so looks in the pockets of Brodie's hoodie. She's surprised to find her mobile phone there.
There are several text messages on it from Terese, begging Piper to call her as she's really worried. At the end of the string, Piper sees that Brodie has replied pretending to be her, with the words, 'I'm fine, I just want to be with Chas.' Piper looks worried.
