Tyler tells Aaron he can't believe he left an accelerant lying around at the school Tyler could have died. Aaron was only storing it there. He didn't know there would be a fire. Tyler can't work out why Aaron bought the fertiliser in the first place. Mark arrives with beers and tells Tyler to give Aaron a break Mark's already said all this. Aaron knows he stuffed up and that's why he confessed but he couldn't do that right. Tyler wants to know why Mark didn't want Aaron to give an official statement. Mark wanted to look into the case himself. Mark didn't want Aaron to take the brunt of the blame if he didn't start the fire. Tyler realises Mark's protecting Aaron and Mark agrees. Aaron's not guilty so he shouldn't cop the blame. Tyler points out Aaron knew they were stolen goods but Aaron denies this. Mark points out it's better than being charged with arson. Tyler sarcastically says Mark is a really great brother.
Imogen produces the drinks she's made. They are virgin mimosas and Terese is impressed. Brad imogenthinks they're just plain orange juice. Imogen points out no drink is just plain anything when there are cocktail umbrellas involved. Josh arrives home and asks if he's walked into the wrong house. Terese explains Brad is going to make them a Melbourne Cup lunch. Josh comments to the ladies at the table that they're ok with Brad still being here. Terese says Brad's been great looking after her so he's welcome to stay. Imogen's fine with it if Terese is. Josh asks after Piper she's seeing a movie with Ben. Josh looks at the paper to pick a horse. His lucky numbers are 20 and 15. 2015 is the year his baby girl was born. Imogen says Josh being a Dad has turned him into the biggest sook! Josh doesn't think she should miss out just because she's at the hospital. Terese asks what they said at the hospital about the operation. Josh reports they're going ahead with it in the next few days. It's good news but a terrifying prospect. Amber's being really brave. Brad realises he was meant to pick them up and rushes off. Imogen is sure they can make their own way home. Brad reminds them he promised to pick them up. They agree to take over the food prep and Brad apologises. Josh comments wryly that was fun. Terese reminds them Brad was only meant to drop her off and they can still have lunch.
Steph is working on the car whilst Toadie is watching. Steph is amazed that Toadie got bumped up the cancellation list. The specialist had some exciting things to tell Toadie. They've finally managed to locate the bullet fragment that was dislodged during the accident. If they can successfully remove it it might alleviate some pressure on his spinal canal and he might get some feeling back in his legs. Steph asks tentatively if it means he might walk again Toadie confirms it does. Steph excitedly hugs him. It's the best news Toadie's had in a long time. Toadie wants to celebrate and suggests the Waterhole and they'll put money on the Cup. Steph agrees. Toadie is going to call Kyle and Karl and will get them to save a table. Steph suddenly says she can't and tells Toadie he should still go. Toadie wants to go with Steph and explains she has a lot of stuff to do. Toadie looks at her and Steph admits she's enot up to socialising with them and they're not keen on hanging out with her. Toadie points out she had a great time organising the basketball match. Steph says that was about Toadie. This is normal stuff and she's not normal to them. Toadie says it won't change if she continues to hide from them. Toadie tells her after everything they've been through they need to go and have fun. Steph agrees as he's looking pathetically cute!
Lauren checks her watch as Amber after a shower joins her and Paige having lunch. Amber is going to express some milk and head back. Lauren has updated Paige and tells Amber it's going to be alright. Amber agrees she's just really tired. Brad appears and says he's really sorry. Lauren points out he could have texted if he was going to be late. Brad explains that Imogen came home. She didn't mind that Brad was there as he was helping Terese. They did some catching up and Terese suggested Brad made some lunch and he lost track of time. Lauren suggests he go back and Brad is surprised. Lauren suggests he eats with them. Paige points out they were going to watch the Melbourne Cup together. Lauren says it's a silly horse race and Brad should work on the progress he's already made. Brad decides to go back to No.22. He thanks Lauren and leaves. Paige is not so impressed.
Tyler comes outside looking for his collared shirt. Aaron is surprised he owns one. Tyler does have one but it's gone missing. Mark knows it's not in the wash as he did all the stuff Tinyler left rotting
in the basket. It turns out Tyler is going to the Melbourne Cup do at The Waterhole. Mark and Aaron want to join him but Tyler tells them he'd rather go alone. Mark tells Tyler to tell them what the matter is. Aaron explains that Tyler's upset that Mark didn't haul Aaron into the police station Mark says it was a different situation and Aaron says it was completely illegal. Tyler doesn't think Mark tried to see it from his side. Aaron wants Tyler to stop acting like a baby. Tyler sees it that Mark trusts Aaron but he doesn't trust Tyler. Mark wants to know why he would buy a house with someone he doesn't trust. Aaron is surprised by this piece of news and wants to know why he wasn't told. Mark hastily a explains that the owner has given them the chance to put in the first bid. Aaron asks why he wasn't included and Tyler asks if he wants to be. Aaron does. He wanted to go in on the garage with them. Mark points out the house is a much bigger investment plus Aaron is terrible with money. Aaron denies this saying it's because of his ankle. Tyler isn't Mr Responsibility. Tyler can walk past something shiny without buying it. He tells Mark not to bother backing him up Mark's made it pretty clear what he thinks of Tyler. Tyler leaves. Aaron agrees and follows him.
Toadie arrives with Steph. Kyle crows over the fact they have a table near the telly. Toadie checks that Steph joins them and it's fine. They're trying to find a winner. Kyle backs ones with blue on their shirts.
KARL: As Edmond Burke says, superstition is the religion of the feeble minded.
Karl is trying a more scientific approach, an algorhythm he's developed. Kyle points out it only s works twenty percent of the time. Karl is fine tuning it! Toadie has the odds worked out you back the second favourite horse for a win in the place. Toadie reckons you don't win any money backing the favourite. Steph is listening to Tom a patient at the hospital whom gave her the odds. Toadie realises she's got a tip from someone whom knows what he's doing. She would tell them the horse but they seem to have their systems worked out. Kyle wonders if they can trust a bookie from the psychie hospital. Steph tells them Tom has backed the winner for the last five years running.
Imogen announces the club sandwiches are done. Terese comments Brad was making quite a feast. Imogen wryly comments he was until they were dropped for Lauren. Terese says it wasn't exactly like that. Imogen points out Brad left pretty quickly. Josh says beforehand they were all getting on well, that's a start at mending bridges. Imogen questions whether Brad was here out of guilt in the first place. Terese doesn't want it to ruin their lunch. Brad returns, apologises and offers to take over from here. He brought dessert. There is a tense atmosphere and Josh asks after Lauren. Lauren got home fine so he thought he'd come back and watch the race. They all attentively agree.
Aaron is saying to Nate that Mark thinks he's Aaron's keeper or something. He wonders where Mark gets off telling him he's bad with his money. Tyler is way worse.
Mark is telling Paige that Aaron is wanting what Tyler got. They want to be treated the same as each other. They need to grow up and realise that's not how the world works. Paige points out he can't be surprised by their reactions, especially Tyler.
Tyler tells Steph when he was in trouble Mark arrested him straight away. If Aaron hadn't bailed him out, Mark would have locked him up as long as possible. Steph agrees it's pretty rough. Mark doesn't want to tell the cops when Aaron's in trouble. Steph agrees it doesn't seem fair but questions whether Tyler's tried to see things from Mark's point of view. Tyler doesn't see why as Mark's unfair and hypocritical.
Aaron tells Nate that Mark's a control freak. Nate points out Aaron acts before he thinks. Aaron defends himself saying he's spontaneous. Nate reminds Aaron he sent the first e- mail to the houpapers. Aaron says it's because he was provoked. Aaron admits the fertiliser ended badly. Buying a house involves all their money so Mark will have reservations. Moark must have taken a huge professional risk to keep Aaron out of the investigation.
Tyler questions why Mark didn't do that for him. Steph asks have if Aaron was ever in trouble witith the police the same as Tyler was back home. Tyler says Aaron wasn't but wonders why it makes a difference. Steph points out that people are treated differently when they have a past. It takes a while for people to give you the benefit of the doubt.
Paige says that what happened in the past doesn't change the fact that this is massive double standards. Mark tries to interrupt that he gets that. Aaron feels excluded. When Paige was involved in buying a house with Amber and Bailey, she actually felt like part of the family. Mark realises Paige is saying he's completely in the wrong. Nate, Steph and Paige all completely agree with this. It's up to Mark as the oldest to fix it.
Everyone is watching the Melbourne Cup on the screen. Everyone cheers when the horse they want to win wins. Steph explains she was caught up talking to Tyler. Toadie is worried she was in trouble missing work. Steph explains Tyler's got some family stu:ff going on. Karl hugs Steph.
KARL: I could be glad you went to that hospital.
There's an awkward silence and Steph asks him to repeat it. Karl awkwardly tries to explain himself. Steph then claps him on the shoulder and tells him it was actually pretty funny. Karl laughs in relief.
Brad asks who got first place in the sweep. Imogen excitedly realises it was her. Brad pays her. Imogen thanks him and says they need to clear up. Brad offers to do it but Josh says they can as Brad organised lunch. Imogen says now it's over he'll want to head home. Brad says they're not getting rid of him that easily as they haven't even had dessert. Terese quietly thanks Brad for coming back. Brad thanks her for letting him. Terese says it's what the kids need. Brad has a lot of ground to make up and it's a nice start. Terese says it's a shame Piper's not there as it would be a full family affair. Brad thinks they should have more occasions like this and Terese agrees.
Lauren is doing some gardening when her phone beeps. It's Brad to say he'll be a bit longer. Paige comes out and checks she's ok. Lauren is she's thinking about what to cook for dinner. Paige is heading out tonight so it'll just be Lauren and Brad. Lauren points out that's if Brad comes home. Lauren explains about the text. Paige points out he's been there for hours. Lauren says it's a good thing as he's repairing his relationship with his kids. Paige thinks they've been tough on him, especially Piper so Brad will have his work cut out for him. Paige says Terese is enjoying this and keeping Brad there as long as she can. Lauren doesn't think that's the case at all. Paige wouldn't be surprised if Terese is using the sympathy card to win Brad back. Lauren says Paige is being ridiculous Brad is taking the opportunity to spend time with his family. Paige should stop being so negative. Paige tentatively apologises.
Road with Bus Stop
Toadie reminds Steph she had nothing to worry about. Karl and Kyle had a great time with her. Step reminds eToadie they didn't mind her making them a bit of cash on the side! feNeither did Toadie! Toadie doesn't take a punt often and Steph does it once a year. She's seen people go down with gambling including Lucas and Toadie adds Sonya. Steph admits it was fun. Steph thinks it was awkwetard and then they laugh about Karl's bad foot in mouth comment.
STEPH: You don't quite feel like part of the gang until Karl Kennedy accidentally insults you, do you?
Steph has a way to go with mending friendships but Erinsborough's really starting to feel like home again. She's really glad she came back. Toadie agrees and Steph pushes him really fast.
Mark is sitting at a table and Aaron and Tyler arrive. Aaron wants to know why he got them here. Mark tells them to sit down. Mark wants to apologise, he didn't mean to hurt either of them. h hilerndsight some of what he said might have been misinterpreted. Tyler thinks Mark means it's their fault for misunderstanding him. Mark is quick to deny this. Mark knows Tyler feels hard done by. Mark didn't treat Aaron in the same way is he learnt from what happened with Tyler. Mark messed up and turned on Tyler. Mark should have had Tyler's back. Tyler is still waiting for the word 'sorry'. Mark is sorry. He knows he's only saying it now but he hopes Tyler can see I was supporting him through the stuff with their Dad. Tyler does appreciate that. They agree they're cool. Mark tells Aaron he didn't keep the sale of the house from him on purpose. They didn't know how long Aaron would be sticking arobuund and they didn't think Aaron would want to be tied down investing in a property. Aaron thinks Mark should have said that from the beginning but Mark says Aaron didn't give him a chance. As Aaron is keen Mark gives him the chance to come in with them. Aaron says he will think about it and they agree to discuss it later. Mark offers to hug it out. They all playfight as they hug.
It is now evening. Terese answers the door to Paige and invites her in. Terese says that Brad left a little while ago. Paige already knows this, she came to check up on Terese now she is home from the hospital. Terese is fine. In answer to Paige's question, Terese tells Paige that Imogen and Josh are out. Paige wants to know if Terese should be left on her own. Terese says she's ok every now an d then whilst she recovers. Paige thinks it's good so Brad won't be here for hours again. Terese asks Paige to tell her the real reason she's here. Paige feels awful about what Terese has been through but she hopes Terese doesn't expect to win Brad back through getting Brad to play nurse. Brad and Lauren are stronger than that. Terese goes to the door and says she doesn't play those sort of games. She thanks Paige for stopping by and indicates for Paige to go by opening the door. Paige leaves. Terese goes to the sofa, feels funny and has to sit down.
Steph locks up and goes over to her bike. She hears Greensleeves playing and sees a ring swinging in the air. She looks at herself in the wing mirror of the motorbike.
