School - Susan's Office
Brad tells Susan that he's been offered the job as Head of Sport.
BRAD: It all feels so unreal.
Quite understandable. That's how it feels to the audience. Brad asks Susan about her role, but she covers, saying she hasn't heard. He says he's so relieved not to be unemployed, and they should go and celebrate. She says she'll catch him up.
Josh invites Amber to birthing classes. She's reluctant, saying it's a couples thing, but he tells it's for parents. Lauren agrees it's a good idea, so they leave. Brad arrives, and says it looks nice - and not just the balloons. He tells Lauren about the job, and she kisses him - then apologises.
BRAD: That's OK. Is it all right that I enjoyed it?
LAUREN: Depends who you ask.
Maybe Lauren has checked out social media. Lots of people disapprove. Anyway, Brad tells her that Amber has given them her blessing for him to move in permanently.
LAUREN: Isn't that a bit soon?
BRAD: That's what I said, but she thinks we should do whatever makes us happy.
Hmm. Brad asks if his staying would make her happy. She says yes, but they have caused a lot of hurt. He says it's not going to be undone by moving into a flat and pretending he doesn't want to be with her.
LAUREN: If we do it, we're gonna have to be honest with Terese. You can't pretend to be house hunting when you're not.
BRAD: I agree. So that's a yes?
She agrees and they kiss.
Piper is totally against Brad's suggestion that she should go to Eden Hills, because private school are elitist and expensive. Brad says they will talk it over with Terese. Piper says that they will just have another fight. Brad says that Terese wants the best for their children. Piper is doubtful, in a Paige sort of way.
Karl arrives home to find Susan busy cooking. She tells him she is celebrating.
KARL: Oh, what are we celebrating?
Karl tells her she could get another position. She says that working has stopped her doing a lot of things. She lists some, ending with visiting grandchildren.
SUSAN: I could just drop everything and go. Of course, not that there's anything TO drop now.
Karl tells her to calm down, but she says she's fine. She even suggests that he retire as well. Karl is concerned.
There are several couples doing breathing exercises. At the end of the line, Josh and Amber are sitting separately, not doing the exercises. Amber comments she's not in the mood for meditation, then apologises to Madeleine, who is leading the class.
MADELEINE: In with energy, and out with new life. Giving birth doesn't have to be traumatic...
(Amber tunes out...)
VOICE OVER: ...unless you're Amber, single mum, sick baby. Born into chaos, no guarantees of survival, every day a struggle. The baby will suffer. She'll never be ready.
Amber comes to, then gets up and leaves. Josh looks worried.
Terese gets a text from Brad asking her to meet him at home. She asks Lauren for the new key and comments that it looks on track for the celebration.
TERESE: You always get what you want, don't you?
LAUREN: OK, I know this must look like we'd planned it all along or something, but in actual fact that's not the case at all. In fact it was Amber that suggest that Brad stop looking for flats. And you know, while it's something we both want, we do want to remain respectful to you.
TERESE: What are you talking about, Brad's stopped looking for flats?
LAUREN: You haven't been home, have you?
Lauren realises that Terese hasn't spoken to Brad, and she tells her that Brad is moving in permanently. Angrily, Terese demands that she give her the key.
Paige tells Lauren it's not her fault. OK. Lauren wishes Brad could have told Terese, but Paige points out things don't always go according to plan. Lauren asks Paige how she feels about her and Brad being together.
PAIGE: Are you kidding? I'm over the moon. And so should you be.
LAUREN: I am. I really am. I just wish it wasn't so complicated.
PAIGE: Well, all relationships have their issues, even mine. But you can't let that stop you from being happy. Mum, you deserve this. Just enjoy it.
Piper tells her mum she doesn't have to agree with her dad. However Terese says Eden Hills is a sensible option, and she's going. Piper storms off. Terese turns to Brad.
TERESE: Well, it seems like it's all working out for you, isn't it? Fancy new job, beautiful old girlfriend. You've even got a nice fancy house to live in.
BRAD: We've only just decided.
TERESE: Like it was never on the cards.
BRAD: It wasn't.
TERESE: So you're together now? It's official?
Paige arrives to find that Amber is upset. She says that the sight of all the happy couples looking forward to the birth of their babies got a bit much. Their baby is going to be rushed to intensive care and might never come out. Josh tries to encourage her, but Amber says that's part of the problem. Josh then suggests that Paige should go to future classes with Amber.
Susan is looking up holiday ideas, which she will do in between visiting the grandchildren. Karl says she must be relieved to be out of it. She says yes - there'll be no more Education Department, or Staff meetings. He says there'll be no more children with problems.
KARL: Can you help me with this Mrs Kennedy? I haven't got any friends Mrs Kennedy. Thanks for helping me reach my full potential Mrs Kennedy.
Susan says there are other teachers who can help. Karl says that must be a good feeling.
SUSAN: I know what you're doing. You're trying to get me to reconsider my decision...and it's working. I'm gonna miss teaching.
She's says it's been everything to her, but Eden Hills doesn't want her.
KARL: Find another school and teach there. It doesn't have to be the end.
Susan tells Brad she's very pleased for him. He says they should make room for her.
BRAD: How can I work for an institution that doesn't value someone like you?
He says he's going to do everything he can to make sure Erinsborough High stays open. She points out that will jeopardise his job, and the chances of success are practically zero.
BRAD: I still have to do it... for you and for Piper. Let's fight for it. What do you say?
Josh is highlighting something in a file. Terese asks him if he'd like to have dinner, but he has other plans. When she tells him about Brad and Lauren, he offers to change his plans, but she says no.
Brad comes in, saying how happy he is to see Lauren.
Terese is cooking a meal for one in the microwave.
Lauren and Brad are having fun getting the cafe ready for the opening.
Terese sits at the table, with her meal.
Brad reveals the new Harold's logo (a yellow coffee cup) on the wall. Lauren claps, and they kiss.
Terese throws her meal in the bin.
Lauren is happy that Harold's is ready for the opening.
The following morning, Brad and Lauren are strolling hand in hand through the complex. Lauren comments that it feels weird, but she doesn't want Brad to let go. She tries to unlock the door, but Brad reminds her to use the new key.
The cafe has been trashed and the words "Home Wrecker" have been scrawled across the board. Lauren is horrified.
- Paige accuses Terese of trashing Harold's
- Brad asks Imogen where Terese was
- Terese sees Brad and Lauren in the pool together
