Previously on Neighbours
- A tornado hitting Erinsborough.
- Paul being assertive.
- Lou accidentally spilling the beans to Matt.
- Lauren telling Matt she kissed Brad.
- Terese not believing Brad telling her that he loves her.
- Nate overreacting to Chris' questioning.
Number 30
Mark is over helping Georgia/Kyle finish sorting out #30 after the tornado when Chris arrives with the guest list for the bucks/hens nights. The trio are a bit bemused when Chris suddenly bails (he seems uncomfortable after Mark told them about dating Paige) and that he's turned down having a couples supper too, citing that Nate is busy.
Hospital
Lou is still bemused over the accident that caused him to end up in hospital. Despite being ordered not to talk, he knows something is up with Lauren but she (and Bailey) refuse to tell him. The pair leave Lou to convalesce and out in the corridor, Bailey wants to know why she didn't tell Lou and she cites that he's recovering and doesn't want to stress him.
BAILEY: And keeping secrets has turned out so well for our family!
Sonya's Nursery
Sonya is impressed with the work Nate has done clearing up and offers him a job but he doesn't readily accept as he isn't too sure how long he's sticking around for. Susan has been checking up on the clean up too and quizzes him about the moving on and he explains about blowing up at Chris. "Maybe if you explained to him he'll understand," she suggests but he explains that he's unsure of how to act as he's not been in a serious relationship before.
Their chat is interrupted by Paul showing the nursery off to a bunch of journalists (as part of a post-tornado tour to see how businesses are coping) telling them also that he worked there while recovering.
Lassiters Complex
Lauren takes the news well when Terese informs her/Paige that they are cancelling a forthcoming catering contract. Terese then heads off after promising Lauren she'll look into the problem with the ducting that fell on Lou (Lauren had reported it previously).
"Am I missing something?!" Paige asks her brother after the ladies walk away and wants him to start talking!
Harold's Store
Paige now knows all about the kiss thanks to Bailey and Lauren immediately says it was a mistake and how it happened.
LAUREN: One lapse in judgement and we've hurt so many people. It's turned my family on its head, I mean Matt's hardly ever home and the kids barely speak to me.
PAIGE: Not to mention Terese.
LAUREN: I don't blame her for resenting me; I mean her family's falling apart too.
Lauren than adds that she wishes she could take back the kiss.
The Waterhole
Paul now leads the journalists into the bar and even Sheila comments on Paul having his mojo back to Terese as they stand listening to him. After praising Daniel's role to the journalists, he then also thanks Sue Parker (who has crept in at the back) for being acting Mayor.
Garage
With the garage cleared up, Georgia/Kyle decide to quiz Chris on him being all weird earlier when Mark was talking about Paige. Chris explains that he's happy Mark has moved on and eventually tells him about Nate snapping at him, similar to what happened with the drunken Bogan at the picnic. They can't believe what Chris is saying (and he's almost downplaying what happened) although they get side-tracked into a mini-discussion on partners hitting/standing up to each other. Chris agrees with Georgia that you should never feel threatened in a relationship but is just unsure of what to do next.
Harold's Store
Chris is talking it over with Sonya and she thinks that because of Nate's background, he was just reverting into being the soldier through instinct. "I know that," Chris replies but thinks this is different and admits that he likes Nate a lot and can see he's struggling to learn to live a normal life again. He then wonders if he is making up excuses for Nate adding that he doesn't want to be a doormat either and Sonya is quick to tell him that he shouldn't be that and her advice is to confront him calmly.
Paul leads the journalists into Harold's to tell them about Lou/Susan and again spots Sue lurking in the background and this time goes over to talk to her. "Are you spying on me?" he asks and her response is to ask him what he is playing at!
PAUL: I'm just injecting a bit of community spirit into Erinsborough.
He likes her commenting that that his speeches are coming across as very Mayoral but doesn't immediately bite when she comments that he's after his old job.
SUE: Be careful not to rush your recovery, I'd hate you to have a relapse.
"As you can see I'm fighting fit Susie," he informs her as she goes to exit the store.
The Waterhole
"I want to be mayor again," Paul opens with when he sees Toadie in the bar. Toadie replies that is going to be difficult then wonders why he's engaging him rather than Tim Collins? "Because I'm all for small local business," is Paul's reply and it's his way of repaying him too for the support he/Sonya gave him during his illness. "Well thank you!" a surprised Toadie replies.
Paul then asks to host a 'Rebuilding Erinsborough' event at the nursery aka his re-election campaign according to Sheila when she delivers Toadie's food and overhears Paul. "Can you help me or what?" Paul asks and Toadie is too shocked to reply.
"I feel like my marriage is hanging by a thread," Terese admits to Susan over a cuppa at another table. Terese then adds that even the Rebecchi's marriage was still compromised although Susan is quick to interject that Naomi was on a mission to take Toadie away from Sonya and her situation is completely different. "Just don't over think this," she tells Terese, who replies that she won't.
Hospital
After handing over his iPad for Lou to watch films on, Bailey then tells Lou about spilling the beans to his dad. "Oh no, I put my foot in it right?" and Bailey is quick to reply "yes".
Number 22
Terese looks at the sketch Lauren drew and replays in her mind previous events - discovering the sketch and finding out why/when it was done.
Sonya's nursery
"You freaked me out last night," Chris begins with after arriving at the nursery to talk to Nate. His reply is that he didn't mean to, it's just what happens in the army when you want someone to lay off. "This isn't the army," Chris points out and he can't treat him like that. He then adds that he knows Nate is dealing with a lot and just wants to support him, since that is the type of guy he is.
NATE: And that's why I want you to be my boyfriend but supporting me doesn't mean pushing me to open up when I'm not ready.
CHRIS: Okay.
NATE: There's some things I'm not even allowed to tell you.
CHRIS: Yes, of course.
NATE: And there's some things I don't want to, not yet, maybe not ever.
CHRIS: Alright but whatever happens, you can't get physical with me like that ever again.
NATE: I won't, I promise.
With that cleared up, Chris is taken by being referred to as 'my boyfriend' and goes to hug Nate, which is then reciprocated.
Hospital
"Thank you for what you did," a grateful Lou tells Susan when she calls to see him and she comments on how great he is looking. Susan decides to leave when Lauren arrives and Lou immediately apologises to her for what he said to Matt, adding that he wasn't aware of what he was saying. "Its okay dad, I know you didn't mean it and the last thing I want is for you to feel bad about it," she replies and goes on to tell him that things are pretty strained when he asks how the news was received.
LOU: You must sort it out.
LAUREN: Dad, Terese is very angry, I think it's better if I just leave it.
LOU: Oh yes sure, sure, let the hate fester hey! That's very healthy! Listen, I am here because Susan took action. You think she liked shoving a pen in my throat?! She did what she had to do and I think that's a good lesson for all of us.
Harold's Store
"You're cute when you are being a big sister," Mark tells Paige after they've been discussing whether she should get involved or not with what is happening (she told him that she just wanted to give Bailey a hug). She is impressed at him calling her cute and is told to get used to being called that before he heads out of the store.
Susan has overcome her fears too and entered the store for the first time post-accident and admits to Nate that she is okay. She is pleased to hear that Chris is giving him another chance and he explains to her that he's trying because normal to others isn't normal to him and asks for her to tell him if he's doing something that isn't right/steps out of line. "Oh I will," she confirms!
Number 22
Terese is surprised to see Lauren on her doorstep but does let her into the house. When Lauren confirms that things are just as tense in her household, Terese sarcastically comments that she shouldn't have kissed her husband!
LAUREN: Terese, how can I explain to you that it meant nothing?
TERESE: The fact is you and Brad have a child together. You have history - Paige, the kiss - you know and it all adds up to something I just don't know what that is yet.
LAUREN: I don't want our families to be enemies.
TERESE: Well I can't deal with having our families have anything to do with each other right now. I mean I can't even have you here, so please just go.
Lauren does what Terese asks and departs.
The Waterhole
Sonya agrees to Paul using her business for his event and even Daniel approves of it happening too but their chat is interrupted when Sue stomps into the bar. She's heard from her assistant that she's invited to his event and informs him that the journalists he thinks will be at his event will in fact be at hers.
PAUL: We'll see.
SUE: Please! This isn't about reconstruction; this is about you wanting to be the mayor.
Paul nods his head in agreement and sarcastically thanks her for dropping by, promising to take her feedback on board! When Sue leaves, he suggests to Daniel/Sonya that its champers all round!
Sonya's nursery (next day)
Toadie is helping Sonya carry things to the nursery when they spot that it's been totally trashed!
SONYA: Who would have done this?!
Unmissable drama
- Paul wondering if someone was trying to sabotage his press launch
- Kyle trying to reassure Georgia that her throat is getting better when she feels it's the opposite way around.
- Terese trying to put 2+2 together after Brad is late home.
