Previously on Neighbours
- Bailey lying to his mum on the need for his schoolbag.
- Josh giving Bailey advice.
- Drunk Bailey!
- Matt making plans to celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary with Lauren.
- Brad getting updated information from the PI.
- Terese demanding that Brad tells her.
Number 22
Brad apologises for not telling his wife about the PI and she isn't exactly in a forgiving mood especially when he uses her stress/the need to see Imogen's counsellor as the reason for keeping quiet. Despite his instance that he doesn't have the time, as he's got a plane to catch, Terese demands that he at least tells Lauren what he's doing because his trip may result in finding their daughter.
TERESE: She needs to know.
Harold's Store
Susan confirms the final arrangements for the vow renewal with Matt and it's just about all systems go. They are almost sprung by Lauren, who's working unexpectedly today, but they manage to cover their tracks and agree to continue planning outside where Lauren can't overhear.
Brad has agreed to Terese's request to talk to Lauren and arrives to do just that. He brings her up to speed with what the PI has found and why he went ahead with the search. She is concerned with it being another dead end but surprising Brad, announces that she is going with him! "I don't want to miss out on this opportunity any more than you do," she explains to him.
Number 32
Bailey is on the phone trying to tell Jayden? that he can't get his hands on any more alcohol because Lou is in the house, even though he is more concerned with learning Khmer than knowing what his grandson is up to. His subtle attempts to get Lou out of the house fail (he wanted him to go see if there was a class for learning Khmer) so he gets personal with the insults, calling him old. Lou immediately chastises his grandson and leaves him alone to go post some letters, hoping that he's in a better mood when he returns (Lou thinks he's down in the dumps because Josie dumped him).
Lassiters Complex
Walking through the complex, Lauren tells Matt that she is off to Adelaide but does promise to be back for their anniversary lunch the next day. He is a bit shocked at the rush but accepts her decision and offers to go call a cab.
Terese seems happy that at least Brad has told Lauren as she walks with her husband to where the cab is picking them up.
Both of them kiss their partners before getting into the cab and it departs.
MATT: Here we go again.
TERESE: Apparently so.
MATT: Here's hoping they have better luck this time.
Number 32
Bailey is filling up his backpack with bottles when Josh arrives looking for Amber. She isn't around, so he makes himself comfy on the sofa to wait for her. As Bailey tries to quietly exit the house, he fails because Josh immediately hears the bottles ratting and the bag ends up falling to the floor (and the contents smashing) when he tries to assist Bailey in carrying the heavy looking bag.
JOSH: What's going on?
While cleaning the mess up, Bailey tells Josh why he's been smuggling the bottles out of the house but lies to him by saying he's not had any. Josh also asks what the backup plan was for when he'd run out. "Don't tell anybody," Bailey pleads with him but Josh thinks he's already screwed because Matt was planning on using that homebrew at the vow renewal lunch!
BAILEY: Dad is going to freak out.
Josh has an idea that might get Bailey out of the large hole he's in.
Number 32 backyard
And that plan would be smashing up the whole supply (or what's left of it) as we cut to outside to see Josh sweeping up the broken glass.
Lou and Matt arrive and the older man isn't amused at what he sees, but Josh takes the rap for it saying it happened as the result of a skateboarding mishap. Bailey adds in that he was partially responsible (for the bottles being where they were) as he was trying to do Lou a favour by setting things up for the lunch. The adults are suspicious but the boys get off with it.
Adelaide
Brad drives to where the address the PI gave them but the house no longer exists. Lauren is beginning to doubt the PI's information but Brad still thinks it's a good lead and they head off to knock on the neighbours doors.
They eventually get hold of a neighbour who says that originally the land belonged to one lady before it was sub-divided to what it is now. Lauren thinks that they are onto the right person (Mary Smith) and want the PI to do a bit more digging and suggests that they stay overnight in Adelaide so they can follow up what the PI can find out.
The Waterhole/Adelaide
Susan thinks that the bottles being smashed is a good thing, when she meets up with Matt/Lou to discuss the plans, as they will no longer have any more disasters!
Lauren calls Matt to break the news that they're staying overnight and is unlikely to make the lunch. He doesn't make a big deal of it when on the phone to her but when he finishes talking to his wife, you can see that he's disappointed and goes to tell Lou/Susan it's off.
Number 32
Bailey is still jubilant that they got off with it but Josh already knows he's going to get extra chores as punishment once his mum finds out and orders Bailey to pull his head in and to cut it out or he will come clean. "I hear you mate," Bailey replies and adds a further "thank you," as Josh leaves the house.
Number 22
Right enough, Terese is giving Josh a right earful and his punishment is extra chores and a driving lesson ban! He thinks his mum is taking out her frustrations at what Brad has done on him but she reassures Josh that he's not to worry about them - and again, the voice says one thing but the face tells another.
Adelaide hotel
Brad/Lauren let themselves into their room (last one) and discovers it's just got a double bed. After a bit of debating they work out who gets the bed/sofa and who gets the first shower.
(Later)
During the night, Lauren has woken Brad up because of her crying and rushes to check on her, sitting down very close to her on the bad. She explains to him why she got emotional and again wonders what if she'd told him 20 years ago. "A lot of things would have been different," Brad replies and admits he's thought about it too. This is a bit of a surprise to Lauren and both admit that they wouldn't have headed off to Perth/Brisbane respectively if it had come out. "We wouldn't have lost our daughter," Brad adds and that they'd have raised her.
LAUREN: Lily would have known who we are; she would have known how much we wanted to have her.
BRAD: She'd have known she was loved.
LAUREN: We would have been a family.
During that exchange of words, the pair slowly moved closer together and Brad tenderly stroked Lauren's face and after her last words, the pair move together and kiss passionately.
