Previously on Neighbours
- Sheila not understanding some of the decisions her daughter made.
- Naomi doing a deal with Paul.
- Danni not happy at Mark and ordering him to stay away from her.
- Montague denying he'd anything to do with Kate's shooting.
- Matt informing Mark about Montague's denials.
- Josh/Amber finding Doug after he went AWOL.
While Doug passes Georgia's initial tests she orders him to stay put as he may require stitches in the head wound.
Brad arrives and wants to know what happened and Doug puts it down to having one too many last night after the traumatic events of yesterday. “I'll bounce back,” Doug assures him but the look on Josh's face thinks otherwise.
Mark hands Matt a list of suspects that he should check into when he spots him/Paul exiting the station but Matt has already seen them. “Why don't you just back the hell off and leave this to the people who know what they are doing?” is Paul's response after Matt heads back into the station, following that up with “you've caused enough damage already.”
Karl arrives and gives them the results of Doug's tests – he's passed them all and plans on discharging him once the stitches are done. Josh asks Karl to check again as something isn't right and mentions what Doug said to them when they found him. Karl has taken Josh's concerns seriously and goes to set up some more tests “just to be on the safe side.” Brad does not look at all happy at his son!
Sheila isn't too chuffed at Naomi using the lounge as a beauty salon (she's waxing her legs herself to save costs) when she returns home. However after a phone call to say the money (from Paul) has cleared Naomi suddenly wants to splurge!
Chris is feeling guilty at (him perceiving to have) lead the police up the wrong alley in the hunt for Kate's shooter since Montague has an alibi but Danni is more than happy to have him off the street and her life back! She still isn't happy at what Mark did to her though and Chris tries to defend his actions and asks that she gives Mark another chance.
Mark is re- living what happened on that fateful day when Danni approaches him. She admits that she is feeling so much better now Montague's locked up and thanks him for his help in doing that but equally she's still annoyed at how he did that. Danni then walks off when he says he'd repeat his actions again if it meant that it caught Kate's killer.
Doug fends off Terese/Imogen's help saying he's fine when Karl arrives wanting a word. He gives his permission for the family to hear everything rather than it being discussed privately. Karl reveals that the additional tests done have not found anything definitive yet, they need more information but seems rather reluctant to tell the family what that is. Brad pushes him for something and eventually, Karl reveals that they are looking into the possibility of Doug having Alzheimer's disease. The whole family looked shocked as we head into the commercial break.
The family try to digest what Karl has just told them but for Josh, it confirms his suspicions. Brad is refusing to accept what Josh suspects but when the kids leave, he tells Terese that he needs to contact his mum to see if she can shed any light on things.
Imogen is immediately nervous when she hears someone knock on the door and after checking through the spy hole, lets Mark in - he's round to apologise for getting her caught up in his pursuit of Montague. He is a tad surprised at her reaction, so she explains about Doug, and he gives her some reassuring words.
Naomi is back from a spending spree laden down with bags and gets the wrath of mum for blowing the money she came into immediately and not even a pressie (a kangaroo skinned handbag) wins her over either.
Mark tries to persuade someone of a higher rank to have a look over Kate's case but is obviously told no can do given the way he throws his phone on the sofa after ending the call. He then spots Danni standing at the door – she is round to tell him that she's leaving Erinsborough and that her mum will appoint a new manager for the garage.
DANNI: I hope you find some closure, I really do.
When she leaves, Mark gets back on the phone again calling someone to pull in a favour.
Josh tells Amber about Doug's probably diagnosis when they meet up at the store now that she's finished [photography] working. She reassures him that his family are going to get through it. Josh is remorseful for how he's treated her and adds that she's the best thing in his life and doesn't want to screw that up and promises to make it up to her.
Doug tries to break the silent tension by making a joke with Brad but he uses the opportunity to test his old man's memory - about somewhere they went to as kids but with the venue wrong. Doug corrects him on where the holiday actually was before adding that he isn't losing his marbles and once the docs get that, things will be back to normal. Just at that, Pam calls Brad and is told that everything is fine.
Mark pulls up at the garage and after checking nobody is about, puts two full duffel bags that were hidden under some tarpaulin into the boot of his car.
Karl tells Brad/Terese that he's pulled some strings to get Doug's tests done quicker than normal. Brad announces that after the call with his mum (that confirmed Doug hadn't been behaving out of the ordinary) he doesn't want his dad to undergo any more tests because he doesn't have Alzheimer's. He also thinks that Karl's judgement is clouded because of his dad (Karl mentioned the shock on finding out about his dad), so Karl then goes with the appeasement stance – Brad might be right but they need to be sure both for his peace of mind and for the families.
BRAD: Okay, well then you should start testing for other things because dad does not have Alzheimer's.
Naomi gets a distressing call from someone and she tells whoever it is that a) she's done nothing wrong and b) for them not to call again.
Paul visits Kate's grave and tidies it up before placing some fresh flowers down while at #24 the duffel bags Mark retrieved were full of files of cases that Mark worked on and he goes through them obviously trying to work out which one could be the killer… the house is literally covered in case files!
