- Lauren hopes her daughter is safe and happy
- Terese struggles to come to terms with Brad and Lauren having a child together
- Bailey and Callum have found a potential contact, Lisa, on the forum
Bailey is telling his parents about the contact from the forum, saying that the details fit. Matt is doubtful as Lauren reads the details.
MATT: Lauren, it might not be her.
LAUREN: What if it is?
Brad and Terese have come over. Brad and Lauren want to call Lisa, but Matt and Terese are cautious. Matt wants to contact the PI first, but Lauren and Brad don't want to do that. Lauren wants to fly her over from QLD, while Brad suggests telling her they want a DNA test. Lauren picks up the phone and calls her number.
Bailey, Amber, Imogen and Josh meet to discuss the situation. The Turner kids are upbeat, but Josh points out that she may not be who she says she is. Amber hopes it'll work out.
JOSH: Well, as long as she doesn't expect us to go all "Brady Bunch".
BAILEY: What does that mean?
JOSH: Pretend to be one, big, happy family.
Bailey says they should make her feel welcome, and Imogen adds they should support each other. Josh suggests a group hug.
Bailey and Amber arrive home and ask Lauren how it went. She says that Lisa is flying down from QLD tomorrow, and they should take the day off school to meet her. They are all happy, including Mason.
Matt tells Terese he's concerned that they're setting themselves up for a fall. Terese says Brad won't be convinced until he's met Lisa and got the DNA results, but she feels maybe Lauren's instincts are right. Matt comments that it's a lot to process.
MATT: I'm not sure I'm ready.
TERESE: Well, now could we be? Matt, this is going to change our lives forever. And who knows how?
A taxi draws up and a blonde young woman gets out. Lauren hugs her, and Brad comes over to greet her. They go inside to chat. Lisa tells them that her adoptive parents died three years ago. She wants to do a catering and hospitality course so that she can run a cafe. Brad and Lauren think it's bizarre…
Lisa comes in with Lauren and Brad to meet Matt and Terese who are waiting for them. Brad tells Terese that Lisa wants to run a cafe and Terese says her parents must be proud. There's an awkward silence, then Lisa says they died 5 years ago. Brad picks her up on it, and she claims she's nervous.
Matt and Lauren introduce Lisa to Amber and Bailey and they chat, Lisa thanking Bailey for what he did. Amber mentions in passing that Matt is a cop, and Lisa looks a bit wary.
Now Lisa has met Imogen and Josh and finds out they have a sister.
IMOGEN: Piper's in Canada. Ned's in Sydney. Dad has kids everywhere.
Amber asks Lisa if she's in a relationship. She's reluctant to answer at first, but then says that about a year ago she was seeing a "bad boy". Amber says they have a lot in common. Josh wanders past with a drink, but he hasn't got one for Amber, and he tells her he's not a mind- reader. Lisa asks about it.
AMBER: He's not always like that.
IMOGEN: No, just 90% of the time.
LISA: Ah, you shouldn't put up with it. You deserve to be treated better.
Later, Terese approaches Lisa and questions her about the discrepancy in the time of her parents' death, as Terese didn't think it was something you would slip up on. She tells Lisa there are a lot of people invested in her.
TERESE: If you're taking advantage of their good nature in any way whatsoever, you need to get up, walk away and get back on that plane.
Lisa walks out of Charlie's.
Lauren tells Matt that she's invited Lisa to stay, as they both agree she's lovely. Terese comes in, asking if they've seen her. She tells an annoyed Lauren that she challenged Lisa about the story concerning her parents' death. Lisa comes in and admits that she lied.
LISA: My dad's in prison and mum doesn't give a damn about me.
Lauren is puzzled as to why she was adopted if her parents didn't want her, and Lisa says it was for the extra welfare payments. Lauren asks why she lied, and Lisa says she was afraid they'd think she was scum. They all reassure her that they don't.
In the kitchen, Lauren tells Matt that all that's kept her going was the thought that her daughter was safe and happy, and finding out what's happened is awful.
MATT: It is awful. But it's not your fault. You didn't have a choice.
LAUREN: But that's what's so unfair. I was never given the choice.
Matt points out that Lisa has her fighting spirit. Lisa comes in and Matt goes off to work. Lisa sees that Lauren is tearful and they talk while Lauren is chopping, first courgettes and then her finger.
Lauren appears with Georgia (of course), having had a stitch and a tetanus jab. Lisa suggests getting the DNA test done. Georgia says they don't do the test at the hospital, but they can buy a kit online. Brad is surprised to hear it takes several weeks. Georgia says they can do blood group tests which can tell you if you're not related. Lisa is O+; Brad is A+. Lauren doesn't know, but Georgia does: A- .
GEORGIA: It means that there's no way you're Lisa's biological parents. I'm sorry.
Brad asks if there are any exceptions, or any possibility of a mistake, but Georgia says no. The three of them are upset.
The Willises leave the bar.
Bailey shuts the forum with his thread on.
The Willises arrive home, then walk over to the drive of No 32. Lauren tells Lisa she doesn't have to go and Matt tells her that she can come to stay, while Terese wishes her luck.
LISA: I really do hope you guys find your daughter. She's a lucky girl.
Lauren comments to Matt that he was right to warn her about getting her hopes up.
