Paul has booked a table for dinner at a posh restaurant so that he, Rebecca and Kate can chat. Rebecca promises to be there, though she is dubious whether it is for Kate's benefit. Mark dashes up looking for Kate, and Rebecca informs him she's gone to school. Paul's concerned about Kate, but Rebecca tells him not to worry.
Mark runs up to Kate, and tells her he knows about her diagnosis, but it doesn't worry him. Kate tells him he hasn't thought it through, and tells him to imagine life without kids of his own.
KATE: Look at me in the eyes and tell me you could do that.
KATE: See? Just what I thought. You'd just end up hating me.
Mark tries to tell she's wrong, but she walks off, saying that's why she didn't want him to find out.
Karl asks Susan to drive him to the airport, as he's off to be the Sheriff of Nottingham. Paul walks in, carrying a bunch of flowers.
KARL: I see Operation Rebecca is in full swing.
PAUL: Oh, this? This is called romance, Karl. Perhaps you should look it up.
SUSAN: You don't seriously think she's going to take you back again?
KARL: No offence. There's only so many times a person will make the same mistake.
PAUL: Oh, really. So just remind me again how many times you guys have split up and got together again.
SUSAN: She told me, Paul: she's not interested.
PAUL: That's what she said, but it's not what she means.
KARL: That doesn't sound delusional at all!
Paul points out that Rebecca is still around, "officially" for Kate and Mark, and he's making the most of the opportunity. After Paul leaves, Susan says she has to find a new contractor, since Kyle hasn't turned up for work. Karl thinks it would be good for him, as it's helped Georgia.
No 30 - Garden
Kyle is looking sadly at the rose bush. Georgia calls to him from the balcony. He says he'd dropping some stuff off for Toadie but he's not back at work. She snaps at him saying it would be good for him. He says that he's not ready.
KYLE: I just can't help but think about everything I've lost.
GEORGIA: Everything YOU have lost?
He says it came out wrong, but she tells him to leave.
Mark apologises to Kate for what he said earlier and that sharing their lives doesn't have to mean having kids. She says that he'll realise it was a mistake.
MARK: Loving you can never be a mistake.
She insists that he will regret it, but he says she must have faith. Paul comes along and hears raised voices and tells Mark to back off, as Kate gets in the lift.
Room 601 (Rebecca's room)
Kate bursts in and tells Rebecca it was none of her business. Rebecca is confused, and Kate reminds her that Mark has always wanted kids, and she asked Rebecca not to mention anything. Before Rebecca can get a word in, Kate storms out. Outside, she cries.
Susan gets a text from Kate, saying that she's ill. She's pleased to see that Kyle has come back to work.
Georgia comments to Karl about a couple that have just gone out, that they are always together, whatever happens. She says they're lucky.
KARL: I think we can all make the decision whether to close ourselves off to people or open ourselves up.
Susan says to Kyle that following the loss of the baby, it would be better if he and Georgia could go through it together. Kyle agrees, but he's not the one who needs convincing.
Georgia tells Karl that people she trusted let her down. Karl says that Susan always gave him another chance.
GEORGIA: Yeah, well, I don't want to make any more mistakes.
KARL: Georgia, life is about mistakes - making them, regretting them. But most importantly, learning from them.
Georgia says she assumes he wants her to help Kyle and snippily reminds him that she and Kyle are not a couple any more. But Karl points out they are two people grieving over the loss of a baby. She looks mutinous and stomps off.
Mark comments to Kyle that he didn't handle things well with Kate and Kyle says he said the wrong thing to Georgia. Kyle leaves and Rebecca comes over. Mark tells her it was Kyle who told him about Kate. Rebecca advises him to find a way of showing Kate he really means what he says.
Kyle is sawing, when the saw slips. Susan insists on taking him to hospital.
In the treatment room, Georgia (the only nurse in the hospital ™ ) says he needs sutures, but Karl (the only doctor in the hospital ™ ) disagrees. Georgia is not one to listen to doctors however - she wants to stitch up Kyle. Karl tells her to clean it, and put pressure on it for 10 minutes.
GEORGIA: Why 10 minutes?
KARL: Because I think that's what it requires.
Outside, Susan ribs him about his "interference". He says that he thinks Georgia still has feelings for Kyle, but she's trying to protect herself. Susan says they've stayed together… They kiss, and agree that they'll leave Kyle and Georgia together a little longer.
Inside, Kyle and Georgia are talking about his going back to work. He apologises for what he said earlier, and tells her he misses her
KYLE: Have you missed me at all?
GEORGIA: This definitely needs sutures.
Kyle sighs as Georgia goes to get Karl.
Kate is crying.
Mark finishes his drink and looks determined.
Paul arrives, and goes over to console Kate, but she says she wants to be alone.
Outside the hotel, Mark bumps into Paul. Mark says he has to see Kate, but Paul says that Kate doesn't want to see him. Mark wants to know if Paul has actually asked Kate, but Paul says he knows what Kate wants and it isn't Mark. Rebecca appears from the hotel, but he continues. He says all Mark has ever done is break her heart. Mark says he tried to take her on Witness Protection, but Paul's not impressed. Mark asks if Paul could tell her he said sorry. Paul refuses. Mark walks off, and Rebecca challenges Paul over his dishonesty. He's been keeping them apart while she's been trying to get them back together.
As Kyle is leaving with his arm bandaged up, Georgia appears and tells Kyle to look after himself, and that he can spend time at the rose bush any time he wants.
Room 601 (Rebecca's room)
Rebecca is less than enthusiastic to see Paul - she can't wait to hear his excuses, justifications… (not). Paul says he hasn't got any excuses and admits that he did lie. He tells her that he had no intention of helping get Kate and Mark together, but he hoped he could get back with her. He says it's not in his nature to give up - or Brennan's. Rebecca asks if he really thinks that Mark is bad for Kate. Paul says today is proof of that, as she's in her room crying. He says that when she got her diagnosis, he offered to get her the best specialist she could get.
PAUL: I would do anything for that girl.
Rebecca sits by him on the bed and takes his hand. Paul gets emotional over the fact that Kate is hurting and he can't help her. Rebecca kisses him, and it looks like they're about to TITTNL ™ .
