- Georgia giving Kyle her blessing to be with Kate.
- Terese surprised/confused by Paul's announcement he isn't pulling out of the Lassiters chain.
- Ruby warning Amber that people are interested in her boyfriend but she isn't.
Josh is pleased to see Amber turn up at the pool when he is training.
Amber denies Imogen's accusation that she only turns up at the pool to ward off any competition and that she is there to support him since the Commonwealth Games trials are coming up soon. Imogen is very much relived to offload her ticket to Amber for some awards do that the family are going to that evening (Josh is up for one of the awards).
Kyle eventually unloads to Chris about Georgia giving her blessing for him to be with Kate but Chris thinks it's just her calling his bluff so he's got to decide who he wants to be with. Chris gives Kyle his advice take time out to be himself when he admits his frustrations over it but does make it clear that he wants to be with Georgia.
CHRIS: Enough to close the door on Kate for good?
CHRIS: Either way, what you're doing right now is stuffing them both around.
Amber is unimpressed at being cut out of a picture with Josh that accompanies the latest article Ruby has written. Josh doesn't think it was deliberate as he's happy to let the world know he's with Amber and is pleased to hear that she intends going to the awards do in Imogen's place. Amber's pleasure is curtailed though when Imogen mentions that Ruby will be at the awards do also.
Paul comes off the phone from talking to Tim he still wants him to find another chain that the hotel can move to.
Kate refuses to accompany him to his latest campaign visit (she's refusing to venture outside) but does volunteer to cook some cup cakes for him that he wants to bring to the church fete.
Paul may not want Terese but the Quill Group do after being impressed with what they saw of her at Lassiters! Brad reports that they can afford to move (after doing their household accounts) as a house wouldn't come as part of the pack. Terese then tells him what Nigel (of the Quill Group) said to Paul I.e. that she was part of the deal and both wonder what Paul's problem is with her.
Amber takes great delight in telling Ruby that she is going to the awards do instead of Imogen (they're just back from shopping at the mall). Ruby explains to her why she was cropped out of the photo and gets Amber's back up by saying girls are starting to follow Josh and that she needs to get used to it being perceived that Josh is single.
Amber is now having major doubts about herself but Imogen reassures her that it's Josh that is lucky to have her and she needs to forget about Ruby.
Terese runs into Paul as he comes down from his suite and tells him about the conversation she had with Nigel and is puzzled why he's going to such lengths to hurt her. Oh please! is his reply to that then twists the knife into Terese about her not being fit (like he is) to play happy families when she mentions to him that she is on her way to tell the staff she won't be in that evening.
The Willises are getting ready to leave for the do and Brad winds his very nervous son up that it's good to have a speech prepared just in case. A very dolled up Amber (in comparison to Brad/Terese) arrives and Josh is very much impressed although Terese isn't at her going as she thought it was just family and is forced to backtrack when Imogen makes it clear she doesn't want to go.
The family are stunned when just before they leave, Terese ignores a call from work tonight is about Josh not work!
Paul arrives home to find the suite filling up with smoke Kate has let the cupcakes burn while she's taken 40 winks. He's managed to switch the oven off but not before the fire alarm has gone off meaning they've got to evacuate via the stairs.
Sheila is marshalling the extras as they file out of the hotel in her role as fire marshal. Paul tries (and fails) to explain to the fire fighters that there is no fire but its falling on deaf ears.
Chris/Kyle find Kate and get an explanation about what happened and indeed find it quite amusing even if she is again mortified! As the suite is going to take a week to be clear of the smell of smoke, Kyle invites her to move back in and when Chris gives his okay to that, she agrees and goes to tell Paul of her plans. When away, Chris questions if that was the wisest thing Kyle could have done!
The boys and Kate arrive back and she can't believe how stupid she has been and Kyle replies back that they all make mistakes! Chris then mentions that they've turned her room into a bit of a gym and the trio debate who is going to sleep on the couch (each of them volunteer to) before Kate insists that she will.
Terese and Sheila compare notes on how grumpy Paul has been lately but both are mystified as to why it's suddenly happened.
Ruby arrives and after spotting how dolled up Amber is, makes a crack about her being dressed up and that she shouldn't do it just to overcompensate being on Josh's arm. Terese introduces herself to Ruby and she apologises for being late, she was lining up other interviews for Josh (should he win). This puzzles Terese as she thought Ruby would be doing them, but she explains that she too wants to be noticed, so it's better if he does other interviews.
Kate is pleased to have freshened up to get rid of the smell of smoke and comes out of the bathroom to find Kyle setting up her bed. Kyle brings up the awkwardness that now surrounds them and gets it out of Kate that she didn't go to Nell's party to avoid both him and Georgia. She wants to know why he didn't say anything after she opened up to him in Harold's and his explanation is he didn't want to mess anyone around.
KATE: What do you want?
KYLE: It's not that simple. This isn't all one- sided Kate; there's always been something between us.
just not as much as there is between you and Georgia.
KYLE: That's what I am trying to explain. I don't even know right now.
KATE: If Georgia forgave you for everything, you'd go back to her in a heartbeat.
KYLE: Would I?
The pair then look like they are going to pash but Kate pulls back, ruining the moment, citing that she is really tired.
Josh did win the award but he tries to downplay the achievement when they are showing off the trophy to Sheila. Terese suggests bubbles for them all and just as Amber goes to pull Josh away for their own private celebration, Ruby bursts into the bar to tell them that about the media interest and even the nationals have picked up on him winning the award and want a piece of him. She thinks the interest is a great thing and adds that it might even set Josh up for a media career too. Brad wants him to keep his feet on the ground but Terese overrules her hubby, so with parental permission given, Josh wants the details from Ruby putting on hold Amber's plans for alternative celebrations!
Kyle gets out of bed to get a bottle of water from the fridge and stands for a moment to watch a scantily clad Kate sleep (because the quilt has slipped down her). He readjusts the quilt before returning to his room.
