Previously on Neighbours
- Kate tells Chris she's in love with Kyle, and she decides to move out.
- Mason breaks up with Rhiannon, following a conversation with Imogen
- Gem and Bailey both deny that they were holding hands
Matt and Bailey are stocking the fridge (or rather Matt is) when Gem comes in. Bailey dashes over to her table, but she fobs him off, saying he's getting a new tutor, and she's got lots of marking. Bailey walks back to his dad, who is sympathetic.
Chris wanders in, and Kate tells him he should be there without a visitor's pass. (Great security!) He wants to talk about the "bombshell" she dropped. She says it happened gradually, and how she felt sick when Kyle said he was going to propose.
KATE: I should be happy for them. I mean, a part of me is happy for them, but... but mostly I just feel really sad.
Chris suggests that she tell Kyle how she feels, but she doesn't want to come between Kyle and Georgia like she did between Kyle and Jade.
KATE: Georgia doesn't know, and she's not gonna find out.
Chris points out that she told him he needed closure when he thought Hudson didn't love him. Maybe she needs the same.
Rhiannon picks up an envelope from reception. She sees Mason and tells him she's taken the job in Darwin, as Terese put in a good word with Gabby. He says he's sorry things didn't work out, but she's glad he told the truth. He asks if she's told Jackson, and offers to come with her to tell him.
Dial- a- Kyle
Kyle and Georgia are chatting in the yard when Chris comes along. Georgia asks him if he's seen Kate, as she cancelled a meeting with her and Gem, and she's not answering her phone. Kyle says (jokingly) it's probably because of her behaviour, which Georgia says is sorted out, and adds she'll see Kate when she gets home. Chris says Kate's not coming home. Kyle and Georgia want to know why, and Chris tells them to ask her. He suggests maybe it's to help Paul with his campaign. Chris leaves and Georgia and Kyle exchange puzzled looks.
Georgia is talking to Gem about Kate not answering her calls. Gem insists that she doesn't have a problem with Kate, whatever Kate might think. Georgia says that she and Kate are very important people in her life, which is why they're her bridesmaids. Gem says she's honoured, and promises to try to clear the air with Kate.
School - office
Gem meets Kate coming out of the office, and pushes her back in. She asks why Kate cancelled the meeting, which Kate says was because she was at work. Gem says that Georgia thinks Kate is avoiding her because she doesn't like Gem.
GEM: Hey, I've managed to... to get over my real opinion of you for her sake. You should be big enough to do the same.
Kate points out that Gem has hated her (Kate's) relationship with Georgia from the moment she arrived. Maybe she's insecure, or she hates Georgia being the centre of attention. But she won't let her ruin the wedding.
KATE: So this is how it's gonna go: I'm gonna play nice for her sake, and that's it. I don't like you, just as much as you don't like me.
Mason and Rhiannon tell Jackson they want to talk to him, and Rhiannon tells him she's got a promotion to work as receptionist in Lassiters Darwin. He's thrilled at the idea of living in Darwin, until Mason says he's not coming, because things aren't working out between him and Rhiannon.
MASON: We tried hard to figure it out, but we just can't.
JACKSON: Then try harder.
Mason says if he came, then he'd make Rhiannon unhappy, and then Jackson would be unhappy. Jackson says he hates both of them and stomps out. Mason follows him, while Rhiannon watches tearfully.
Mason explains to Jackson, that while he'd like to have them around, it's very important for Rhiannon to take this job. And even if they did stay, he's too young to be a proper dad. Jackson suggests he's done something wrong and promises to do what he's told, even cleaning his room. Mason says he didn't do anything wrong.
MASON: You are the coolest, most amazing nine year old I know.
JACKSON: But not cool and amazing enough for you to stick around.
Mason looks upset as he watches Jackson walk up the street.
Mason tells his dad that he stuffed up, just like he warned him. Matt says at least he had the courage to tell her in the end, and he's proud of his son. Mason says he wants Jackson to know he's going to be there in his life.
MATT: OK, rule number one. Don't make promises you can't keep.
MASON: No, I plan on keeping this one.
Matt wonders how he's going to manage this one...
Bailey arrives, assuring Gem that no- one saw him, and he deleted her text. Gem tells him that she needed to see him as he's the only person who can help her. Kate is trying to get her sacked. Bailey is doubtful, as it doesn't sound like Kate. Gem says she has to fight back or she'll lose her job. She wants to look at Kate's emails.
GEM: Can't you hack into her account for me?
BAILEY: That's illegal.
Gem says that if Kate wins then she'll have to leave - she asks if that's what Bailey wants. He says of course not. She says that they've got the house to themselves for hours. Bailey's not happy, but she begs him to help.
GEM: Please Bailey. This is my only hope.
There is a yellow cab into which Rhiannon's stuff has been packed. Having already said her goodbyes to some people (the Kennedys, Sheila and the other Turners). She doesn't want to drag out her goodbye to Mason, so he gives Jackson a present: an iPad Mini. (Oooh, not product placement, was it?) This is so Jackson can call him at any time - it'll be like they're in the same room together.
JACKSON: Except we won't be.
He walks off to the taxi. Rhiannon apologises and thanks Mason for the present. He says he wanted to make it up to Jackson, and she says to give him time. They hug. Rhiannon gets in the taxi and it drives off. Before it gets past No 32, it stops, and Jackson gets out and runs back to Mason. He hugs him and says he'll miss him. Mason says he'll miss him too, and they'll always be best mates.
Dial- a- Kyle
Kate arrives, ostensibly to tell him that she'd moved out. Kyle says he heard from Chris that it was to help Paul which Kate confirms. He adds that Georgia was a bit suss because she didn't turn up earlier, and thought it was because of Gem. Kate admits she doesn't like Gem, but says she's bigger than that. Kyle wants to know if there was any other reason, and with everything that happened, were they still OK? Kate hesitates, but they both get a text from Georgia. Kyle sighs, saying he was going to the travel agent to book the honeymoon to Vanuatu. Kate says he hates travelling, but he says he's happy if he's with Georgia.
Kate tells Chris that she couldn't say anything after the way Kyle talked about Georgia: he obviously loves her very much. Chris asks if she's still going to through with all the wedding stuff. She says she can't let them down.
Bailey has downloaded a load of emails, both from Kate's work account and her home account. Gem asks him if there are any other accounts. He says he can't find any, and she says there's nothing about her in any of them. He suggests that maybe Kate isn't out to get her. She assures him that Kate said to her face that she wanted to get rid of her. Bailey says he has to go, and asks if he will see her again. She says at school tomorrow, but he says he didn't mean that, so she says she'll see him soon. After he's gone, she continues to look through the emails, and checks the Drafts folder. She finds one to Kyle.
"Dear Kyle. You must know what this email's about. You're not here so I can't talk to you. But we have to forget that that night between us ever happened. It was a mistake. We shouldn't have done it and we both know that. I never wanted to hurt Georgia and I know you don't either. That's why we have to keep it to ourselves. No- one needs to know."
Georgia, Kate and Kyle arrive, and Gem hugs the laptop to her.
GEORGIA: Good news: we have a colour scheme.
KYLE: Bad news. We get to talk about it for the next three hours.
It's rather tense as they settle down for the discussion.
