The Kennedys are discussing what Izzy has done.
SUSAN: That is classic Isabelle Hoyland!
Holly is likely to be with them for about 3 weeks and Karl wonders how she will cope living with them given he's not seen her personally for a couple of years, although they are in contact via video calls. Susan reassures him that Holly will be fine with some reassurance that she is secure and that he can bond properly with Holly.
SUSAN: It will be fine, I promise. You are terrific with kids and we have had 3 of our own remember!
Mason is telling Kate about the job offer with Paul and why he thinks Paul offered him it plus the benefits of taking the position… like having clean hands! Kate is highly suspicious of Paul's motives and asks that he just doesn't do anything hasty.
Number 32 (next day)
Matt is looking forward to putting his day off to good use by spending it with his wife and somewhere other than the kitchen but they're babysitting Nell while Sonya goes to the gym. Lauren puts a dent in his plan of them to occupy themselves while Nell has a nap by sending him to the store for nappies!
Mason drops by to give Lucas his notice. He isn't too surprised that Mason has quit but is when Mason tells him that he's moving to Lassiters. Lucas drops in some subtle questions about how is parents are settling into the neighbourhood and its positive replies from Mason.
Vanessa is surprised at some of the stuff Karl is buying until he explains who they are for, then she gives him some advice on what would be better to buy for Holly. When he leaves, she goes over to Lucas to tell him to have a word with Matt about selling #32 but he'd rather stall it citing he'd rather tell them together.
Matt goes to the till to pay for the nappies after taking advice from Terese on which ones to buy. Vanessa asks how Lauren's day off is going and he explains about them babysitting Nell. Terese then comments that Brad had similar thoughts about them constantly babysitting too and his solution was for them to have a child of their own, which is how they ended up with Piper after the twins. “Lauren's not clucky,” he declares and the ladies give each other a knowing look that has him now thinking she might be!
Matt overhears Lauren telling Nell about not wanting to give her back to her mum when he returns with the nappies from the store. He asks her if she is clucky and her reply is any more and she'd be a chicken! She explains that she has tried to ignore it but it could be the last chance they have to add to their family.
MATT: Three kids aren't enough?!
Lauren reminds him that they are hardly kids any more and that they did say they wanted a family of four. “Kids are expensive,” he reminds her but she points out that Mason has a job and it won't be long before the kids more out too leaving just them. “You really don't want another baby?” she asks and his silence says it all before he eventually says that he thought they were all done with that. “I thought you might say that,” she replies before Nell grabs their attention. When Lauren is tending to Nell, Matt seems to see how much she wants another child and agrees to think about it.
They then receive a visitor – Lucas who has some news for them.
Commercial break later, Lucas has broken it to them that he needs to sell the house and gives them first refusal. They turn the offer down as they don't have the deposit but are fine with what Lucas is doing… well at least to his face they are, when he leaves their faces tell a different story.
LAUREN: What are we going to do?
Mason has agreed to take up the job at Lassiters and Paul suggests champers for all to celebrate. Terese still has her doubts but is convinced by Paul that its win win situation and asks that a career plan is put in the contract too, so she leaves to get the contract sorted out.
The Turner's are dreading moving again and that it knocks them having another baby on the head for now at least.
Mason comes home to tell his parents about his career change and neither are happy at the news. He explains that Lucas couldn't afford to keep him on and that the new job will open up more opportunities for him. Matt still isn't convinced but it seems to be more because of whom Mason will be working for!
Number 32 driveway
Sonya pushes Nell down the driveway after picking up her daughter from Lauren. They run into Terese who is jealous at Sonya having a great time at the gym while she was up to her eyes in paperwork. Sonya departs and Terese/Lauren discuss Mason's new job. Terese picks up that Lauren isn't happy but does her best to convince her that it is a good move for her son and feels he will do really well in it.
Lauren catches Kate when she's in the store and there is only one topic of conversation between them. Kate does her best to convince Lauren that it's a good move and that they should trust and support Mason.
Kate moans to Mason about Lauren taking her woes about his career change out on her. “Its just mum being mum and sometimes she goes a little over the top,” he reassures her adding too that she will get over it.
MASON: All this worry from the both of you is a wasted emotion.
KATE: That's because you are a worry! Least it proves that we both love you.
MASON: I love you too.
Paul spots Lucas and tells him he needs to get a wriggle on to the auction for the last remaining Eclipse Apartments that is happening today. Lucas is annoyed at Paul not telling him they were just about sold out before rushing off to the auction.
PAUL: Don't forget your chequebook!
Karl shows Holly into the house and introduces her to Susan. She hands over a picture she drew on the plane and asks where the others are, so Susan confesses that it's her fault as she likes to tidy up and threw them out, so Holly plans on doing more.
Susan is very taken with how polite and sweet Holly is, given her fears!
SUSAN: I can't believe she's Izzy's child!
KARL: Takes after me!
Karl is taken with Holly having inherited his creative talents and Susan jokes that might not be a good thing, referring of course to his singing! She pleads to hear her dad sing and he goes to get his guitar.
Susan walks over to the table where Holly is drawing and asks to see them but the pleasant, sweet, butter wouldn't melt in her mouth child of a few minutes ago has done a total 180!
HOLLY: Bite me!
Vanessa has called round to check how the Turner's are going after Lucas told them about having to sell the house.
The bidding for the last apartment is underway and it's at the $500,000 mark. Lucas is desperately trying to get hold of Vanessa but he's just getting voicemail.
Lauren reassures Vanessa its fine, they will get something else and in a couple of years can perhaps buy their own place… and if her body is still obliging another baby too. Vanessa is aghast now at the news Lucas selling has come just as they'd decided to go for another child.
The bidding is up to the $530,000 mark when Lucas makes his first bid to take it $540,000. The bidding increases as again he tries to get hold of Vanessa…
… but her phone is on silent mode and isn't beside her so can't feel it vibrating as she continues to chat with Matt and Lauren. Matt jokes with her that it will be good news for her because Lauren will want to babysit as she will be so broody! Vanessa then suddenly decides that since apartment living is a wee bit off, they will not immediately sell #32.
The auctioneer is getting ready to sell the last apartment at $545,000.
Lucas and Vanessa's flat
Lucas arrives home and obviously gets hold of Vanessa and moans at not being able to contact her. She realises now that her phone is on silent mode and both mention to the other that they have news.
LUCAS: Me first! You're going to love this! I bought the apartment.
“What!” is Vanessa's immediate reply and Lucas explains about the auction and that he bought it! She is absolutely stunned when she then discovers how much he paid for it and Lucas explains about getting into a bidding war with someone else.
VANESSA: This is a disaster!
LUCAS: (bemused) Sorry?
VANESSA: I was just at the Turners telling them that we weren't even sure about the whole thing and now look how much you paid. We can't do this! You gotta get out of it.
LUCAS: I can't get out of it. I've bought it, I've signed the contact. We're stuck with it.
