Kate accepts that, then tells Georgia that he brought a woman home - someone not much older than her. Georgia reckons it's hard to feels sorry for him when he's being a jerk. Kate doesn't want to leave when he's in trouble, but...
KATE: I don't want to wake up in bimbo central every morning either.
Kate asks Georgia about her back- to- back shifts, but Georgia doesn't want to discuss it, and asks her if she's talked to Paul. Kate replies that's how she got her head ripped off.
Matt is studying the menu. Lauren is impatient, but Matt says he's a customer too. Lauren snatches the menu off him and tells him he's having bacon and eggs. (Customer service ain't what it used to be.) She turns round and bumps into Toadie.
LAUREN: How are your..... How are you?
TOADIE: Yeah good. No family damage.
Lauren is pleased, and asks him if he wants time to decide what he wants. Matt leans over and tells him not to take too long. Lauren glares at him, and Toadie orders. Paul comes up to Matt and asks about the investigation. Matt says the preliminary results will be available later. Paul wants to know now. Matt tells him it didn't look good. It looked like user error, and they were working without proper procedures and training. Paul thanks him, and walks off looking troubled.
Kate and Georgia are about to have another coffee when Chris comes in. Georgia changes her mind and says she's going home. She meets Kyle on the way out. He asks if they can catch up, but she says she has a lot to do. Kate notices that Chris and Kyle are advertising for a new housemate. Kate says she is thinking of moving out, and says she'll get back to them when she's talked to Paul. Chris leaves and Kyle asks her about Georgia. She says that Georgia won't talk about it: she keeps working and working. Kyle asks Kate to let him know if he can help.
Ajay turns up with a file and tells Paul to read page 10. Paul won't, so Ajay reads the report's findings. He tells Paul he's going to pull his empire apart. Paul asks if Ajay thinks he wanted Priya to die. Ajay says Paul doesn't care about anything except the bottom line. Ajay wants damages of $10,000,000. Paul says there's no way he'll get that. Ajay says he knows, but it'll be in court for years.
AJAY: How deep do your pockets go, Paul?
Karl is on the phone, and Lou is sitting at a nearby table. Karl tells him that Toadie wants him and Susan to give some marital advice. Lou asks if Lauren is one half of the couple concerned. He thinks Toadie is right: it is very tense at home, and maybe Karl and Susan could help. Karl thinks maybe it should be someone who hasn't messed up. Lou points they've been through the mill, but he knows there will never be anyone who loves him like Susan does. Karl is pleased. Lou invites them over for a barbecue.
Matt and Lauren both claim they are busy. Lou tells them they should make an effort to settle in. They admit they have nothing that can't wait, and Lou goes to ring Susan, despite Matt saying they can catch up with the Ks some other time. While Lou's on the phone, Matt says they don't have to go, but Lauren says it's only a couple of hours. Matt rolls his eyes.
Kate comes in to find Paul drinking whisky. He barely responds to her questions. She finds the report, and he tells her to read page 10. She asks him to tell her. He says the official word is "culpable". Kate asks if the staff are in trouble, but he says it's his responsibility to make sure they know what they're doing. She says he can't look out for everyone.
PAUL: It's my staff, my grounds, my duty of care.
KATE: Paul, it was an accident.
PAUL: I killed her.
Karl offers Matt and Lauren some wine. They refuse, but Lou covers by saying he'll drink their share. Karl asks Matt if he likes music. Susan tells Matt not to answer since it'll encourage Karl, and she Karl argue good- naturedly about the Right Prescription. Lauren and Matt look slightly uncomfortable. Susan tells Karl he shouldn't drag Matt into the band, but Karl says it's Matt's decision. He asks Matt if he plays a musical instrument. Susan advises him to retain his right to silence, but Matt says he doesn't.
Kyle says that Georgia blames him for Scotty and he wishes he hadn't told her. Chris says you can't build your life on lies. He suggests that Kyle should give her some space. Kyle says he's going to try talking to her, despite Chris's advice to back off.
Karl passes Matt and Lauren some tofu cheesecake which Matt says (somewhat insincerely) sounds delicious. Karl gets ice cream on his favourite shirt. Susan remarks that she thought he was going to change it. She hates it, and has put it in a charity bag 4 times. Lauren and Matt exchange glances and pour themselves a glass of wine each.
Dial- a- Kyle
Kyle is assembling a barbecue when Chris turns up. There's a gas bottle on the ute, and Kyle notices a hissing noise. They discover that the bottle is leaking, even though the valve is off. They check the others out, and find they are leaking too.
CHRIS: Lucky you didn't fire up the barbie...
KYLE: It would be like the wedding all over again.
They stare at each other, and Chris asks where the bottles came from.
Chris and Kyle are walking through the complex. Kyle says they (the police) need to know for the inquest. Kyle goes over to talk to Georgia, who asks if he really wants to hear about her humiliation. He replies that it was Scotty's fault, not hers. She counters that she didn't even know Scotty when she was just about to marry him. She's was an idiot. Kyle says she wasn't, but as Chris returns, she rushes off. Kate comes over and asks if they want to go out. Chris explains about the delivery coming from the same supplier as the wedding caterers.
KATE: If you're right, this means it's not Paul's fault.
Lauren and Matt arrive home, agreeing that it was the most uncomfortable lunch they'd ever been to. She tells him she's glad he didn't admit to playing guitar, and how ridiculous it was arguing over a shirt. She adds thoughtfully that she could see a lot of love. Matt agrees, and says he loves her. She says she loves him too, and they agree to put their mistakes behind them. They kiss.
Karl asks Ajay if he'd like a jam, but he wants to spend the day with Rani. And tomorrow he's got to concentrate on the case. Paul has to pay for what he did. Karl says he understands, but Ajay has to have a life. There's a knock at the door. It's Paul, who's come to tell Ajay the news about the faulty gas bottles. Ajay wonders who he paid off. Paul sighs, and says that Kyle and Chris had a near miss and reported it to the police. Paul leaves and Ajay shouts that he's not letting it go. Karl looks concerned.
Outside the Community Centre
An upset Paul is by Priya's memorial tree, when Kate comes up to him. She asks if he's been there before, and he says that last time, Ajay sent him away. He says he has no right to be there. Kate says he has, but he says he wasn't really part of her life. Kate says no matter what the circumstances, he has a right to miss her.
Matt and Lauren have obviously just TITTNL™ and would probably go back for more except they think Lou or one of the kids might come in soon. Lauren is making lasagna for dinner, which Matt is a whole lot more enthusiastic about than the tofu earlier. He opens a letter which is in large print.
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID. YOU'LL GET YOURS.
He checks the postmark: Mount Isa.
