This week on Neighbours
- Toadie being all gushy!
- Tash giving Sonya a warning.
- Paul ordering Andrew to solve a problem… by firing Tash!
Previously on Neighbours
- Andrew/Tash stopping pretending about their relationship.
- Rhys wanting to start making wedding plans with Vanessa.
- Vanessa calling off their engagement.
Lucas arrives to hear there is no new news about Patrick but that Karl should be in soon. He again reassures Vanessa to keep strong and is surprised to hear about the engagement being off.
VANESSA: Patrick needs all my energy just now, I can't think about anyone else.
Karl enters the room and gives them the news that the best treatment for Patrick is surgery but that won't be for a few months yet as he needs to be stronger first. He also dishes out the bad news that they'd rather have bubs stay at hospital too instead of going home as Vanessa had hoped. They are both anguished to hear that Karl won't give them much information on Patrick's prognosis either after the operation other than it could take up to 6 months before he's home with his parents.
Vanessa plans on staying put with Patrick until it's all over and Lucas reassures her he'll sort out the finances.
VANESSA: I have to be here with him, he's all that matters.
Rhys comes home in a foul mood and literally throws the engagement ring onto the desk but returns moments later to put it safely into his wallet.
Tash isn't amused again at Sheila – this time for trying to cram a couple of more tables into the bar. The pair squabble over it before going to Andrew for a decision but while he agrees with both of them, bails from making a decision, leaving them to sort it out!
Tash suggests to Andrew that they go to the cinema that evening but he's got other plans – a family meal for Paul's birthday and wants her to come along too. She wants to know if Paul knows about them dating and is told “not yet!”
Paul isn't amused at finding out that Andrew is back together with Tash (and reminds him of what happened previously!) but puts on a polite face when Tash comes over and tells her not to be late for dinner before he leaves!
Tash has sussed that Paul isn't happy at the news and now wonders if going for dinner is the right thing but Andrew literally begs her to come to help Paul forget what is currently happening in his life just now. “You are such a smooth talker,” she replies and agrees to go to the dinner.
Kate is seriously stressing out over making a cake for Paul's birthday and gets a welcome distraction from it when Rhys comes by to look for Paul - he wants info over setting up a charity foundation for Patrick. She tells him that things like that can't be set up overnight but instead gives him other suggestions on quick fundraising and even volunteers to help him with it.
After seeing how much he's got in his bank account (just under $5000), Lucas surfs the net to see how he can get rich quicker and ultimately ends up at a poker website although he hesitates about entering as we head to the first commercial break.
Lucas calls round to talk to Sonya in her professional capacity as his sponsor – he didn't go ahead with the gambling despite putting all his details into the system. He explains to her his financial dilemma and wants her advice but all she really says is to just be there for Vanessa. Their chat is interrupted when Nell makes her presence known and Lucas asks to formally meet the little lady.
LUCAS: G'day Nell, I'm Lucas.
Kate has set up the necessary online to raise money for Patrick but Rhys doesn't want it going out on his Facebook page because he doesn't want Vanessa to know. She then suggests using an anonymous email address but warns that money will be slow to come in (people reluctant to donate until others have) but once a few big donations come in, the momentum will be there.
Kate leaves to attend to her dinner party, but bearing in mind what she told him, Rhys then goes online to search for ‘car sales Melbourne'.
Sheila and Tash come to a compromise over the tables – 1 more extra will be tried! They then start chatting about Tash going to Paul's dinner party (and her prior relationship with Andrew) and Sheila thinks that Paul may still hold a grudge, but that isn't going to phase Tash one bit.
TASH: I'm just going to be myself!
SHEILA: Oh, so you're going to be smart mouthed and argumentative!
Tash takes offence at being called argumentative and Sheila suggests she tones it down but Tash isn't changing! Sheila then suggests reigning in being overconfident; it's not one of her attractive traits! It's hard to tell from the look on Tash's face if she's offended or is taking in what Sheila said as we head to the next commercial break.
Andrew is surprised at how different Tash looks (all smartly dressed up) and tries to play down how special the meal is when she explains how she's dressed.
We're thankful for ‘I've never been to Cuba' playing in the background as the talk is very strained, almost non- existent! Even Paul is surprised at how quiet Tash is and he's not the only one also taken aback at how helpful she is suddenly being too!
Andrew excuses himself from the table to quiz Tash on the personality change but she runs off instead to get Paul's pressie – a photo frame, rather than answer Andrew's questions in the kitchen. He does get her “normal” self to appear though when she reacts to having chilli sauce in her strawberry cheesecake!!
The family are in hysterics at Tash's “misfortune” and her going off on one and dishing out the advice!
TASH: Kate, you should really stop trying to cook, you're terrible! And while we're at it, this teenage angsty thing is really getting old Sophie, just stop it. Seriously Paul, get some people your own age to celebrate your birthday with. Oh, and that picture frame, the $2 shop!
The family cheer at Tash cracking and Paul is particularly pleased with himself!
PAUL: And she's back!
KATE: Thank goodness!
Tash is coaxed back to the table to join in the meal now she's back to being her usual self!
Ramsay Street (next day)
Lycra Karl returns from a bike ride to see that Rhys has sold his car. Karl spots his bike and is dishing out the benefits of cycling to work but Rhys assures him that he won't be wearing Lycra!
Kate approaches to find out what is going on and Karl replies that Rhys has sold his car. “What are you doing?” she asks but he ignores her and heads into the house instead.
Kate quizzes Rhys to ask if he's selling the car to win Vanessa back given it's a very big gesture to do! He rejects the claim and again reiterates that he wants the donation page kept between them, he doesn't want anyone to find out who set it up.
KATE: As long as you think you're doing the right thing.
RHYS: I am.
Lucas brings a visitor with him to the hospital – Sonya, who is already thinking about Patrick/Nell growing up with each other. Susan then pops in too and mentions the fundraiser to them. It's news to them all, so she gets her iPhone to show them.
SUSAN: Isn't that wonderful!
Vanessa asks if it was Lucas but it's a no from him, however she's blown away at it. As Rhys hovers outside having come out of another room, Susan then shows her the current total - $23,132.
Tomorrow on Neighbours
- Tip wars at Charlie's!
- Vanessa trying to work out who set up the fund.
- Karl inviting Susan to stay for dinner and having a great night…
As the credits begin, Summer's details have been removed although she still remains in the titles.
