- Connor's words spur Toadie into proposing to Sonya, and she accepts
- Carmel decides to stay with Susan in Erinsborough for a while
Tash comes in and brags to Summer about how well she did in her final exam. She asks Summer to come and celebrate, but Summer's busy researching her character- building overseas trip – and has found a clean water volunteering scheme in Mexico that she's interested in.
TASH: Wow. You really know how to suck the fun out of everything, huh?
Karl comes out of his room – he's heading to Harold's to catch up with Susan and Carmel.
TASH: Before you go, could you tell Sum to stop planning such a boring trip?
Karl leaves Tash and Summer to argue.
Toadie and Sonya are practicing swaddling on a soft toy, when Connor comes back. He admits they were right and that he's glad he went to Lori's wedding after all – Maddy was really excited to have him there. He says that, as a result, he's decided to move closer to them and find work, so he can be a proper dad to Maddy again. Toadie's thrilled for him and they hug. But in the meantime Connor's keen to start arranging Toadie's buck's party. Toadie's not keen as Jellyfish will be born by the time they get married, so Connor suggests they have it early instead – and says he's not leaving Erinsborough till Toadie agrees!
Karl tells Carmel about Tash and Summer's arguing, while Susan's on the phone trying to schedule interviews for Summer's replacement. The three then discuss Summer's overseas trip; Susan says she'll go and talk to Summer to help her decide on her volunteering plans.
Later on, Carmel turns up to see Karl – Summer tells him he's feeding the chickens. Carmel explains she's come from the community centre, where a Christmas appeal is being organised – they need volunteers to wrap presents that have been donated for families who are struggling financially. She asks if Summer and Tash if they'd like to help; Summer is keen, Tash less so! Karl comes in and thinks it's a great idea, so says he'll join them.
Rani flashes back to seeing Paul and Priya hugging outside Lassiter's. Priya comes in, followed shortly by Ajay. He tells them about the Christmas appeal at the community centre and suggests they go, but Priya has work to do. Rani agrees to go with him, but she's not exactly brimming with enthusiasm, and while she gets ready Ajay asks Priya what's wrong with Rani. Priya says it's just a mood, and convinces him not to ask her about it – she'll come to them if she wants to.
Summer, Carmel, Karl, Ajay and Rani all get cracking with all the present- wrapping. Ajay can't resist asking Rani why she's so quiet – she says it's nothing, but he tells her she can talk to him about anything. Rani asks if Ajay has noticed anything different about Priya – sometimes she's really nice, and other times she acts as if her mind's elsewhere. Ajay asks if something has happened with Priya. She begins to tell him about what she saw, but then backtracks and says it's nothing.
Ajay has bought Rani a hot chocolate and some cake, in an attempt to persuade her to talk more. He assures Rani that he and Priya are fine; swearing her to secrecy, he admits that things have been tough between them for the last couple of months, since they've both been busy with work and not communicating. But he says they haven't stopped loving each other, and have since worked things out. Now things are better than ever, he claims, and promises Rani that this Christmas will be the best ever. Rani smiles, but still looks worried.
Connor and Sonya discuss the idea of a buck's party – Connor is keen for Toadie to have one last night of fun before the baby comes, and Sonya agrees that it would be a good idea. She's recognised that Connor and Stuart were like family to Toadie in the House of Trouser before she came along, and wants Toadie to be able to celebrate that. She extracts a promise that there will be no naked lamp- post antics, however.
The present- wrapping effort continues, as Susan arrives with photographer Brent – they're covering the event for the newspaper. Susan tells Summer that if she needs any help narrowing down her options for volunteering overseas, to give her a call. Summer tells her Carmel's already had some good suggestions for her, so not to worry.
Tash has joined the appeal effort, grudgingly, and is writing cards to go with the presents. But as she talks to Summer, Summer is shocked to notice that Carmel appears to be flirting with Karl. Tash is surprised she's only just noticed, and comments on how obvious Carmel is being. Summer thinks it's weird, but Tash retorts that they're just having fun and aren't going to do anything. Summer wonders if Karl realises she's flirting, and whether she should warn him…
Toadie comes in and is accosted by Connor in a dressing gown and mullet. Doing his best Aussie accent impression, Connor tells Toadie he needs to remember his roots, and takes off the dressing gown to reveal a ‘Lawman's Last Stand' T- shirt! Realising it's for the buck's party, Toadie again tells Connor he's not having one, as Jellyfish and Sonya has to come first. Then Sonya comes in dressed in the same T- shirt and mullet, and convinces him otherwise! Toadie is still very reluctant, as he knows how these things end up. But Connor and Sonya chant ‘trouser, trouser' at him until he gives in and agrees – at which point Connor kisses him and tells him he loves him, before rushing into the street to tell everyone they're having a buck's party.
Priya is making a cake for dessert this evening, much to Ajay's surprise – she never bakes. Ajay explains that Rani wanted to walk home alone. Priya asks if he spoke to Rani about what was bothering her, but Ajay lies to spare Priya's feelings, and says he took her advice and didn't pry, and that Rani was fine after they'd wrapped some presents. Priya continues to look worried.
Toadie and Connor write up a list of people to invite to the buck's party; Karl, Kyle, Chris, Aidan and Lucas are among the lucky invitees. Toadie is still worried about the event, but Connor tells him to relax.
TOADIE: I've got to go to court next week; I'd better be there with both eyebrows!
CONNOR: It might throw your opposition off if you don't have any! … Right, no pranks, I swear! I'll write it in blood; I'll swear on my granny's grave!
TOADIE: Is she dead?
They discuss the food and drink they're going to get; Connor jokingly suggests some salads, which gets both of them laughing. While Toadie heads to the shops, Connor rings a guy called Ronnie, and asks for a favour…
Rani comes in from her walk, and is as shocked as Ajay to see Priya's baked a cake. Priya says she wanted to make a special effort, but again this makes Rani suspicious of her mum.
Karl, Carmel and Summer are having drinks. While Karl's at the bar, Summer interrogates Carmel about how long she's sticking around for, and asks her if she has someone waiting for her back home. Carmel explains that she's separated from her ex- husband Robert. She says she's ready to move on, and feels like she has a new lease of life. Summer asks if there's anyone she has her eye on, but Carmel simply says that the single men of Erinsborough should watch out!
Summer and Karl arrive home. Summer comments that Karl and Carmel seem to have a lot of fun together – and says to Karl that she thinks Carmel's interested in him. Karl's taken aback, and denies that Carmel was flirting with him, but Summer insists she knows what she saw and that Tash thinks so too.
KARL: Carmel is Susan's sister! What you're suggesting is in terribly bad taste!
SUMMER: Well, it's just what it looks like.
KARL: Well you can think what you like – I don't want to hear it! Is that clear?
