Charlie's exterior
Paul is welcoming the ladies to the auction and Zoe shouts out to him that he'd get a better price if he was in a tuxedo! He protests that he isn't up for auction but she has him up first and isn't taking no for an answer.

PAUL: I am not exactly Mr Popular at the moment. I mean who's going to bid for me?

Zoe is still confident someone will bid for him and orders him to get a tux!

Jade gushes at how great Kyle looks in a suit when she and Kate arrive. He meanwhile returns the compliment to Kate when Jade heads inside to grab a table and has worked out she is planning on bidding for someone. "I think I might," she remarks before straightening Kyle's tie up (he complained it was too tight and ruined his perfect look).

Hospital
Karl checks his looks in a window before walking to the desk to rub Rhys up that he isn't looking smart as he is still in his normal working clothes but he informs Karl that his tux is in his car. Some passing females admire Karl is his tux too, which goes straight to his head!

KARL: It's hardly my fault they prefer the George Clooney look to whatever it is you are going for.
RHYS: Oh no Karl, it's the beginning of the end when you start mistaking mockery for attraction.
KARL: The only person who needs to be mocked round here is you.
RHYS: Really it's going to be a big fall off that perch when you don't get any bids tonight.
KARL: My dear boy. Not only will I get bids, I will raise more money than you.
RHYS: Have you been raiding the anaesthetics fridge again?!

Karl jokes that off and lets Rhys in on his niche - he's going to be the only bachelor over 50 and will attract the more mature ladies who have more disposable income! Rhys wants to know where he got that from and he simply replies the band's gig at Charlie's. "They still have to bid," Rhys warns and Karl is quick to reply that he only needs two people.

RHYS: Good luck getting one!
KARL: We'll see how we both go then won't we?!

Harold's[/b]
Vanessa gives Rhys her thumbs up when he comes into the store all dressed up for something to eat prior to going to the ball. She bemoans that she wishes she could go to the auction in her finery too before they no longer fit, so Rhys offers to chauffeur her home to change when her shift finishes.

Number 24
Rhys waits as Vanessa gets changed and they make small talk about the auction and he adds that there is only one person he wants to beat at the auction - Karl! "Wow," Rhys remarks when Vanessa comes out into the livingroom and she suggests being sneaky when it comes to the bidding so he can beat Karl - she will bid for him. "That's not a bad idea," he replies and promises to cover whatever she has to pay... and agrees to her demand of still being taken out for a meal even if it is a scam!

Charlie's
"Much better," Zoe remarks when Paul returns dressed in his tux before going up to the mike to get the event rolling. She introduces Paul (with much flattery) and he's got a fan in Sheila! He thanks the gathered for turning up to support the good cause and Zoe announces there has been a bid already for him - Ms Anonymous has bid $1500!!! Surprisingly nobody else outbids Ms Anonymous and even Paul is bemused at who paid that for him!

Next up is Karl and Zoe opens the bidding for him at $50 as we head into the first commercial break.

(Later)
Commercial break later and while the bidding for Karl continues in the background, Paul approaches Susan to get confirmation that it was her who bid for him (she happened to raise her glass at him when the bidding closed) but she denies doing so either with her money or the papers money.

SUSAN: I wouldn't bid $15 for you Paul and I can think of heaps of better things to waste the papers money on.

Finally the bidding closes on Karl - $150. "At least you know who paid for you," Paul remarks to Karl when he comes down from the stage. Karl heads off and Susan suggests to Paul who Ms Anonymous might be - Sheila and right enough when he looks over, she too raises her glass to him.

PAUL: She wouldn't have that sort of money?!
SUSAN: Shouldn't judge a book by its cover Paul.

Sheila winks at him and Paul's face suddenly drops and he walks off as Zoe introduces the next bachelor - some random extra called Gregory. As the bidding on him progresses, Sheila heads over to see what Lou is up to (taking notes on the candidates) and thinks he is after a new partner!

LOU: I'll have you know I've had more women then you've had hot dinners!

Lou then reveals what he is up to - he's trying to get a better price for himself by seeing what the others have done!

SHEILA: You a gigolo!
LOU: Dinner companion!
SHEILA: You couldn't pay me to have dinner with you.
LOU: Good job you're way past my demographic then isn't it!

Gregory is finally sold for $140 and Jade remarks to Kate that she should have bid on him especially as he was in her top 3. Kate replies that he wasn't her type and wants to see what else there is and just at that, guess who is next up - Kyle!

There is much more vigorous bidding for Kyle and Kate puts in the final winning bid of $250 to much praise from Sheila and bemusement from Jade!

"I don't know why I did that," Kate admits to Jade and explains why she bid for him - that she didn't want to pay for a stranger and have to go to dinner with them. Jade still can't believe what Kate did even if it was for charity. Someone is happy though at her getting the winning bid - Kyle! "Dude you are a legend," he announces when he joins them at their table.

Kyle drags Kate away to get their picture taken and Sheila comes over to gloat to Jade that Kyle was worth ten times the winning bid! Sheila has the same take as Kyle/Kate that its better he was won by someone they knew rather than a stranger but Jade isn't buying it at all and politely sips her wine as we head into the next commercial break.

Charlie's
Lucas arrives for the auction and Vanessa thinks he's going for the bad boy look (he's in his usual biker gear rather than a tux) and asks that she bids on him. Vanessa turns down his request because she's bidding on someone else but doesn't say who. Susan wonders over to take Lucas away as he is next up after the break they are having.

Kate squares it off with Kyle that he's okay with her bidding on him and he's more than happy with the deal. With Lassiters sponsoring the type of date the couple wish to have, they decide on the picnic for two from the options. Sheila is happy with their choice too and after Kyle returns to Jade, gees Kate up that she did the right thing bidding on Kyle (she's having doubts).

SHEILA: You've got to make the best of what comes your may.
KATE: I don't know if I did the right thing.
SHEILA: Do you want to know what I think?
KATE: Mmm.
SHEILA: I think its going to be a lovely picnic. And you know what else I think?
(Kate raises her eyebrows)
SHEILA: I think that Paul Robinson fella just winked at me!
(Kate turns round check it out)
SHEILA: Got to make the most of what comes your way!!

Sheila meanders over to where Paul is sitting and complements him on what he's doing. Paul tries to get her to go and bid on someone else but she isn't moving! Sheila then bursts into laughter when Paul starts going on about what they should be doing on their date.

SHEILA: You think I'm the one who snagged you?!
PAUL: What's so funny?
SHEILA: Oh sweetheart, you're good looking but you're not that good looking!
PAUL: So you didn't buy me?
SHEILA: Love, if I had fifteen hundred bucks I'd be on the next plane to Bali to work on my tan. Sorry to burst your bubble!

Paul is more than relived she hasn't bought him.

SHEILA: Don't sweat it, you couldn't handle what I've got to offer!

And back to the auction, next up is Lucas and he gets $180.

As his bidding was going on, Karl and Rhys had another spat over the amount bid for Karl/what will be bid for Rhys! And it looks like Vanessa is planning on re-negotiating her terms too since she's discovered how much he wants to beat Karl (and Lucas has a face like thunder on him as he spots the pair of them chatting). "What else do you what?" Rhys asks and she replies some check-ups and advice since he's a doctor!

And the next (and final) one to be auctioned is indeed Rhys and there is some hot bidding for him too, with Vanessa eventually winning him for $500!

SUSAN: I didn't know she had that sort of money!
LUCAS: No, *she* doesn't.

Rhys goes to congratulate Vanessa and through clenched teeth isn't amused at how much she bid! "I hate losing," she informs him!

With the auction now finished, Zoe tells Paul that although they are still adding it up, it looks like they've raised $10,000!!! He is more than impressed although he's still bothered over who Ms Anonymous is (in case the money doesn't come through) but Zoe informs him that it was her who bid! Paul seems pleased at the thought of a date with her until she informs him that it was a dummy bid but the money is genuine... its going to be billed as miscellaneous on the next invoice she sends in!

Lucas wants to know what Rhys' intentions (over Vanessa) are and is told its none of his business!

LUCAS: Are you interested in her?
RHYS: Yes. Are you?
LUCAS: No.
RHYS: I'm not really sure what the problem is.
LUCAS: ...
RHYS: Right, then stay out of my face!

(Later)

Final commercial break later and Vanessa has picked what their date will be - an inhouse massage for two!
