- Lou books a cruise, but can't pay for it when the development money falls through.
- Lucas accuses Lou of faking his neck injury. He says he's planning to fool the insurance assessor.
- Jade starts a Singles Bootcamp class.
- Kate apologises to Kyle for leaving without telling him.
- It slowly dawns on Kate that she has developed feelings for Kyle.
Jade and Kyle are still being rather lovey- dovey, much to Kate's disgust. She wants to leave, but Kyle persuades her to stay for one more drink.
When Kyle is at the bar, Jade observes that Kate doesn't like being the third wheel. Jade says she's still trying to get used to being with Kyle.
JADE: It's weird, it's like you and me have swapped lives.
KATE: No, it's not really.
JADE: Well...yeah, I mean, you just disappeared off to Queensland and had a no- strings fling with the first guy you met. That sounds like something I would have done.
Kate looks a bit embarrassed.
JADE: You know what, it's about time you got a bit selfish and did stuff for you.
KATE: Yeah. And I'm loving it.
She looks over at Kyle again.
Kate is talking on Skype to Erin, telling her she's thinking about joining her for travel. Everything is OK with Sophie now...but Kate then confesses that there's a guy.
KATE: No. No, it's a guy here, actually, which is really weird, because I've had my chance with him a few times, but...I just haven't wanted to go there, and now all of a sudden...
KATE: He's seeing someone.
ERIN: Oh. Sounds like an emotional minefield.
KATE: Yeah, I'm going slightly mental.
ERIN: OK, well all the more reason for you to get yourself over here.
KATE: That's what I thought, but...what if I'm just taking my troubles with me?
ERIN: We've all got baggage, Kate, but where would you rather deal with it? Tropical party central, or same old Erinsborough?
KATE: Well, when you put it like that...!
ERIN: Trust me, once you get over here, you'll forget all about this guy. So get yourself organised and call me when you know what you're doing. Time to take control!
Lou is on the phone to the bank trying to get an extension on his credit limit, but doesn't have any luck.
Kate comes in and looks suspiciously at Lou putting his card away in a draw. He changes the subject and starts talking about switching gas companies. But Kate will not be distracted and gets his card out of the drawer. She asks him if he's having money troubles. He assures her that there's nothing to worry about - and the insurance money will cover everything!
Lou has got his neck brace on ready for the insurance advisor's visit. He gingerly opens the door and invites her in. He puts on a good show of enduring pain in his neck. He gives the insurance advisor a bit of a sob story, and she seems to buy it. She tells him she's entitled to compensation and he asks how much(!) Apparently he qualifies as Category C which is quite a lot. He tries not too look too delighted.
As the assessor is leaving, Toadie comes in and totally blows his cover. The insurance advisor tells him he won't be getting any compensation.
Toadie is telling Sonya about Lou trying to defraud the insurance. Sonya says Lou must be in financial trouble.
At the counter, Kate tells Sonya that she might go travelling again. Sonya picks up on her mood and asks if she's OK.
KATE: Just...I wish I'd made...different choices.
SONYA: You can't waste your life thinking about what life might have been like if you'd made different choices.
KATE: Yeah, I guess.
SONYA: We're all dealing with things. You can't think about your regrets, you just have to...find a way to move forward.
This strikes a chord with Kate.
Sonya tells Kate that everyone was worried about her, especially Kyle.
TOADIE: He went nuts trying to find out where you were.
SONYA: Yeah, and when he did find out, he was all set to jump on a plane and bring you back!
TOADIE: He even borrowed money from his gran for the plane ticket.
SONYA: He even had Dane on standby ready to run the yard.
KATE:(stunned) I er...I didn't know that.
SONYA: You've got some good friends, Kate. Friends that really care about you.
Kate clears their table, and goes off, looking rather happier.
Kate pops around to see Kyle, but notices a photo of Kyle and Jade on the shelf. Kyle and Jade invite Kate to stay for dinner, but she says she doesn't usually eat this early. She looks sad again.
Lou has come to rant at Toadie (why didn't he rant at him earlier?!) Toadie tells him he had no idea what was going on, and anyway, Lou was trying to commit insurance fraud(!) Lou says it was Toadie's fault that he didn't get the development money. Toadie says Lou already has an investment, in Kyle's yard. This gives Lou an idea.
Lou barges in and tells Kyle that he want his share of the profits from Dial- A- Kyle. Kyle says he's ploughing everything he makes back into the business at the moment - it's going well, but he's still building the business up. Lou demands to see the books, telling Kyle he wants to see where they can make some savings. Kyle exasperatedly gives it to them.
Kate has stayed for dinner after all. On the way out she sees Rhys.
RHYS: What are you doing here?
KATE: Just here to have dinner.
RHYS: Hmmph! You were invited?
KATE: Uh, yeah, that's usually the way it works.
KATE: Kyle and I made up, by the way.
RHYS: Huh. Jade must be thrilled about that.
KATE: What does that mean?
RHYS: Nothing. I'll see you later.
KATE: Does this have something to do with Kyle wanting to come to Queensland to get me?
RHYS: You heard about that?
KATE: Yeah, Sonya told me. Did I cause some issues?
RHYS: Yeah, to put it mildly.
KATE: Well, what happened?
RHYS: They had a massive blow- up.
KATE: Why, cause Jade was jealous, cos Kyle was worried about me, why?
RHYS: Pretty much.
KATE: How long did they fight for?
RHYS: I don't know...couple of days. Why do you care so much, anyway?
KATE: Oh, no, I don't. I don't, I just hate to be the cause of any problems between them, you know, they seem so happy.
RHYS: Well, they sorted it out. Still, if Kyle had got on the plane, it could have been worse. Might even have been the end of them.
Lou is going through Kyle books to a musical montage(!)
Lou comes looking for Kyle. He tells him he hasn't been fair to Kyle - he's been too silent a partner, and he wants to handle the books from now on. Kyle accuses Lou of thinking he's stupid, but Lou assures him that the books are fine, but Kyle needs to use his time drumming up business rather than doing the books. Kyle reluctantly agrees, but tells Lou not to have a go at him if he's having a slow week.
LOU: I'll be as silent as I've always been.
KYLE: That's not that silent(!)
He agrees, and they shake on it.
Rhys is playing pool when Kate comes in. He asks he why she's swinging between being wild and conservative. Kate tells him that she's going to go and meet Erin and her new boyfriend in Thailand. They snipe at each other about Erin.
RHYS: Everything worked out for both of us, that's great.
KATE: You are unbelievable.
RHYS: Hey, you want me to admit that I treated her badly, fine, I'll admit it. It's not like I didn't have a reason.
KATE: What reason, to advance your own career?
RHYS: You wouldn't understand.
KATE: Er, I do understand. You have no morals.
RHYS: I just know what I want. And when I really want something, I go for it, and nothing holds me back.
KATE: Yeah, and you don't seem to care who you hurt in the process.
RHYS: If it's meant to be, it'll all work out. It's all good, isn't it?
KATE: Guess it is now.
RHYS: Exactly. See, your problem is, you don't know what you want. If you did, you'd fight for it, no matter what.
Kate is on Skype to Erin again, telling her she's not going to come travelling with her after all.
KATE: It's, um...it's this guy.
ERIN: Did you jump him after all?
KATE: No. But I want to.
ERIN: Even though he's got a girlfriend?
KATE: Look, I know it's messy, but...I think he still has feelings for me, and I know I definitely have feelings for him.
ERIN: Wow. I wish I knew this guy.
KATE: You do. It's Kyle.
ERIN: Kyle? Yeah, he's hot, but more than that...he's nice. Really nice.
KATE: Do you think he's worth fighting for?
ERIN: He's with someone...it'll be messy. But, you know, if it's meant to be...
KATE: I know. I'm willing to try.
