Andrew is trying to play down the uni thing so he doesn't upset Summer, but Andrew invites her to a gig that he might have coming up which his lecturer Owen put him on to, Summer declines.
TASH: Of course she can't, not on a school night.
Michael wanders over to see Summer and reassures her that things will get easier and the other kids will leave her alone soon.
Andrew and Tash are talking about the gig he has lined up and Tash wants to ask Chris' opinion – but Chris is too busy texting to notice. Summer appears and is upset to see the three of them all together, feeling left out she turns to go but Andrew stops her and persuades her to sit down. She comments on the band that Andrew is looking at. Andrew down plays them and acts casual.
TASH: Enough! Andrew loved his first day. He loved the course, he loves Owen – he loves everything about it. He just didn't want to tell you because you had such a rubbish first day at school. But you know what? That's your own fault. If you hadn't have cheated in the first place you wouldn't have to be back there…
Andrew stops her and Tash says she's sick of being miserable just because Summer is. Andrew tells Tash to leave.
Later on Summer and Andrew are chatting – Summer wishes she'd known how good Andrews day had been and she's having second thoughts about repeating year 12.
Toadie is working on his laptop when Sonya comes in with a present for him – it's a laptop desk. It's to stop heat, because as Karl said “heat is the enemy”. Toadie looks a bit awkward but thanks Sonya anyway. Sonya leaves to pick up Callum and Toadie researches male infertility on the internet.
Getting frustrated he puts down the laptop and picks up a DIY brochure.
Sonya and Callum come in to find Toadie planning the renovations and turning one of the walls into a fireplace. Toadie is going to enlist Callum to help for “father- son” time. Toadie leaves with Callum to get tools.
Jade's come round and wonders where Toadie is.
SONYA: He's getting tools.
JADE: You guys need tools…?!
SONYA: For renovating.
Dial- A- Kyle
Kyle suggests Toadie will need specialist help.
Jade thinks the renovation is a cover up – Toadie needs to prove he can make something.
Dial- A- Kyle
Toadie is stacking lots of tools for him and Callum to use.
Jade thinks this is what men do to prove themselves – build and make. Sonya agrees that Toadie wants to feel ‘blokey'.
JADE: And what happens when he stuffs up? What will that do to his self- esteem?
Callums complaining because they haven't done anything yet, but Toadie says it's all in the planning and stops for a tea- break.
Summer knocks on the door and wanders in looking for Susan to talk to. Sonya says she's out and offers herself to chat, but Summer says it's OK.
Back to the DIY – Toadie is stalling and Jade is finding it too cringey and so leaves. Sonya leaves to use the phone.
Chris talks to Lucas about Emilia – does he think there's anyone else? Lucas doesn't think so but then he starts to wonder…
Lucas meets with Emilia and hands her back the key he has to her place. He asks her if there's anyone else. Emilia denies it and says “this isn't to do with anyone else” – which isn't quite answering the question. She says he's kind, generous and funny but it was just bad timing and things she needs to sort out on her own. Lucas wonders how long the ‘sorting out' will take – Emilia says she doesn't know.
Michael drops by to give Lucas some paperwork from Priya. Michael says Lucas appears more upbeat so Lucas explains that Emilia wants space so that's what he's going to do – give her space and wait, because it's only a matter of time.
Summer sifts through her school work and reads her Jounalism Test Results looking thoughtful.
Summer joins Michael at a table. She explains that she wants to quit school because she can't do it. Michael explains she's just had one bad day. Summer says she doesn't want to waste time and doesn't want to let one mistake hold her back. Michael thinks it sounds like she's made up her mind. Summer leaves and Michael notices Emilia walk in.
Lou and Kyle walk in. Lou wants free legal advice and Kyle offers to do some work but Toadie turns him down. Sonya offers them a cup of tea and they watch the worker Toadie. Kyle offers some advice but Toadie says it's really OK and Lou and Kyle leave. Toadie starts using a hammer to knock down the wall.
Callum's laptop runs out of juice and he asks to borrow Toadie's laptop. Toadie agrees and says he thinks they're finally getting there, but Callum doesn't respond as Toadie's laptop has opened up on the infertility page. Callum makes a prompt exit to his room.
Toadie is really hacking away at the wall now. Sonya walks in and sits down and sees the laptop.
SONYA: Did he see this?
TOADIE: Yeah. Not really the father- son moment I was after.
Toadie starts hitting the wall harder in anger and Sonya gets up and asks him to stop.
SONYA: You don't need to do this. You've got nothing to prove to anyone, and least of all me.
TOADIE: Right, so you didn't call Kyle over? He just happened to drop by.
SONYA: You are a self- made man. You have achieved so much and you are all the bloke I'll ever need.
TOADIE: Yeah. As long as I take my man- pills and wear boxer shorts and don't drink beer and use a stupid lap- desk, huh? Yep, I feel really bloker right now.
Toadie picks up what looks like a sledge hammer and Sonya begs him to stop, she wants to talk about this. Toadie takes a big swing but stops and collapses to the floor in pain. He thinks he's OK but he's not as he tries to move. Sonya tells him not to move and she'll find Karl leaving Toadie in an awkward position on the floor.
