Number 28
Andrew and Summer enter no.28 and Andrew advises Summer to tell Priya that Michael's got it in for her. Summer seems to understand Michael's point of view but Andrew still tries to convince her that talking Michael around is the best way to go. Karl comes in dressed in his work out gear and asks how the party was to which Andrew says that it was good and that Tash was still there dancing. Karl says he's going to a dance class and after he departs Summer worries that she won't be able to look him in the eye once he knows that she cheated. Andrew looks concerned for Summer and heads off to cancel his shift at work for the evening but Summer asks if he can call them instead to which Andrew lies that the walk will give him a chance to make up an excuse on the way.
Erinsborough High
Andrew tells Michael that he needs to talk to him before Michael answers that Andrew can't be in the school without a visitors pass. Andrew says that Michael would have been in big trouble had Summer not been there to help him when he collapsed to which Michael replies that whatever the case may be there is no justification for Summer cheating. Andrew reminds Michael that as the exam was postponed after his collapse, Summer's result came from the second exam anyway but Michael argues that she had extra time to study for that exam. Andrew continues to argue Summer's case but Michael remains firm that Summer breached VCE guidelines and was willing to lie to him today so she only has herself to blame. As Michael is about to leave, things turn nasty when Andrew says that Michael will be a hypocrite if he reports Summer as he lied to Tash for so many years about her mum. Priya sees Andrew in the corridor and tells him he can't be at the school without a pass and Michael interrupts, telling Priya that he needs to urgently talk to her. Priya says she's busy and departs before Michael dismissively tells Andrew to go home.
Charlie's
Rhys enters Charlie's to find Aidan at the bar and jokes that he's alone on Valentine's Day to which Aidan replies that it's not like Rhys to be without a date. Rhys fails to get Kyle's attention as he enters Charlie's and Kyle asks Jade if he can have a word with her to which she replies that she's busy, playing a game of darts. Kyle wonders why he's being the one painted as the bad guy when Jade walked out on lunch but she jibes that Kyle has as much time as he wants now to talk to Paul about finding Kate. Jade asks Kyle to move so she can carry on playing darts before Kyle asks how she'd react if it was Lucas who had gone missing and didn't have his phone on him. Jade replies that he wouldn't react like he has if Lucas had gone missing as he'd assume that he'd be able to look after himself. Kyle asks Jade if the situation would be the same if Sonya had gone missing to which Jade replies that it'd different as Sonya is her sister. Kyle thinks it's stupid that he'd be allowed to worry about his brother but nto a friend. Jade tells him that her issue is because it's Kate and she no longer wants to discuss the issue. Kyle exits Charlie's.
Garage
Lucas is complaining to Chris about the volume of paperwork since he took over the garage. Tash arrives and Lucas jokes that he needs his sunglasses thanks to Tash's garishly bright dress for which she apparently won a prize at the traffic light party. Tash tells Chris he should have come but he replies that he's not a uni student but Tash doesn't see that as an excuse, saying they could have got him in anyway. He remains adamant that he would rather be at work and Tash jokes that he's becoming a nerd. Chris asks how the party was to which Tash remarks that there were so many hot guys there and that Summer and Andrew have made up. She adds that she really did win a prize for the 'best dressed in orange' and has a voucher for a free Valentine's meal at Charlie's with drinks included, plus Amy Pearson will be performing. Tash asks Chris if he wants to come and he tries to make up excuses before reluctantly accepting her invitation.
Charlie's
As Chris and Tash enter Charlie's, he asks her when the band starts to which she jokes that it doesn't matter when as he's there with the hottest girl in orange.
CHRIS: Um, yeah, it really brings out the satanic gleam in your eyes.
Chris notices Aidan sitting in the other end of the bar and is annoyed with Tash, assuming that she's once again trying to set them up. Tash protests her innocence before Chris starts to walk out of Charlie's - luckily she convinces him to stay. Tash says that Aidan does look hot but Chris reacts badly to her comments before looking over to Aidan once again, noticing that he's wearing a green t-shirt, subsequently asking if Aidan was at the traffic light party. Tash says he wasn't but realising the colour he's wearing she tells Chris that Aidan is obviously wearing green hoping to pull. She tells him that he should go and tell Aidan how good he looks but Chris isn't convinced. Tash says that Vaughan the barman is nowhere to be seen and Aidan must be single otherwise he would be with his boyfriend seeing as it's Valentine's Day.
Harold's Store
Andrew enters to find Summer sitting at a table looking sorry for herself. She asks if he managed to sort out his shift to which Andrew replies that he went to see Michael. Summer appears to disapprove but Andrew says that she wasn't doing anything to fight her case. Summer says that Andrew doesn't need to fight her battles for her and Andrew replies that it made no difference anyway - Michael is going to file a report to Priya this afternoon. Andrew still seems to think that Summer can worm her way out of the hole she's got herself into - after all, who would believe Michael as his memories are hazy and the whole thing happened last year. Andrew says that Summer should say she's done nothing wrong when Priya calls her in for a chat, but Summer, obviously dissatisfied with the way she's handled the whole thing, heads off to apologise to Michael, hoping he can help her out. Andrew looks on in disbelief.
Erinsborough High
Summer finds Michael and says that she wants to explain to which Michael replies that she can't be on school grounds. Priya interrupts, reminding Michael about a meeting the next day for all humanities teachers before seeing Summer, at which point Michael mentions that he was just telling Summer she needed a pass to be at the school. As she's about to head off, Priya asks Summer if she'd mind quickly talking to Michael's Year 12 class as a student who has recently left school, believing they could really benefit from her experience. Michael agrees, and the pair head off.
(Later)
Priya introduces Summer to the class before a clearly unsure Summer heads to the front to talk to the class. She mentions how Year 12 is one of the most important years in your life, as it really plays a massive role in your future.
SUMMER: What I wanna say to you is, just look after yourselves. There's so much talk this year about the future, and uni and final exams that for me, the only thing that mattered was the score I got and it stopped becoming about learning. It was only success or failure. And I used to love English Lit, it was my favourite subject. But by the end of the year I absolutely hated it. All that mattered was the mark at the end of the year. I was stressed, I was miserable, and I crumbled. And I became someone that I didn't really like. And I wish that I could go back and do it all again. So what I wanna say really, is, please look after yourselves. I took on so many things last year thinking I could do everything. Don't make this year any harder than it has to be. Try and find ways to enjoy it. Because the last thing you want is to turn into someone that you're not proud of.
Michael looks deep in thought, clapping ensues and Priya remarks that Summer is a great student. Priya thanks Summer and reminds the class that stress is a real concern and the teachers are there to help should the students need them.
Charlie's Bar
Amy Pearson is singing. Jade tells Aidan the situation with her and Kyle, saying that Kyle thinks Kate is missing based on the fact that she hasn't been in touch, even though she's probably just on holiday. Aidan suddenly realises that Jade is talking about Kate Ramsay and cottons on to the fact that Erin, his colleague, has gone on holiday with her. Aidan gets his phone out and shows Jade a photo of Kate and Erin drinking cocktails to which Jade asks if Aidan can forward that link to her and he agrees. Jade rushes off.
On the other side of Charlie's, Tash is boring Chris with a story about a girl at the traffic light party who was wearing a green bra. When she realises how quiet Chris is being, he pretends that it's because he is enjoying the music but Tash knows it's because Aidan's in Charlie's and she tells him to just go over and talk to him. Chris says no but looks at Aidan longingly across the bar. Tash observes that Aidan obviously has guts as he's sitting in a bar alone on Valentine's Day and doesn't seem to care what people think while Chris, in the mean-time, can't pluck up the courage to talk to Aidan. Tash gets out her phone and says she's going to text Aidan but Chris pulls it out of her hand. Tash continues trying to encourage Chris.
Garage
Lucas and Kyle are talking about Kate's disappearance as Emilia approaches the yard and stops, looking at Lucas deep in thought. He soon notices her and appears to be happy to see her, and he tells Kyle that he's going for coffee with Emilia. Kyle doesn't seem too happy and Lucas tells him not to call Paul as Paul already knows that Kyle wants to be told if there's any news. Kyle makes a phone call to someone, saying he urgently needs their help.
Number 26
Jade is looking at a plane ticket to Queensland, as Rhys comes in and basks in Jade's obvious hurt at Kyle going to look for Kate. He snidely remarks to Jade that it's exciting that Kyle is going to look for Kate, but Jade looks less than impressed by his comments. Rhys continues by saying that it's almost romantic that Kyle, who can barely afford to pay his share of the bills, is flying up north to rescue a friend but Kyle insists that his gran lent him the cash. Rhys reminds Kyle that Paul is already there so he doesn't need to go, but Kyle thinks that may be part of the problem as Kate might not want to see Paul and hence is avoiding him. Kyle apologises to Jade before saying that he has to do this, and Jade points out that he might want to contact Erin if he's looking for Kate as the pair are in Queensland together - she hands him her laptop with the photo of Erin and Kate drinking cocktails on display.
Kyle follows Jade into the kitchen, asking if she'd like something to eat. She says no and he says that he's not going to go to Queensland anymore to which Jade replies that it's only because she showed him the photo of Kate and Erin who were obviously having fun there. He says he's going to phone Paul to let him know that Kate is with Erin and asks if she's sure she doesn't want a toastie to which she replies that she's sure.
Charlie's
Tash is making commentary on Aidan's actions, first saying he's getting another drink, then saying it looks like he's paying the bill. Chris asks her to stop it but she tells him it's now or never. Chris reluctantly accepts her advice and asks what he should do. Tash advises him to go over and talk like normal.
TASH: Just go up and say exactly what you're feeling.
CHRIS: Yeah, right, so I just walk up and I say 'Hey Aidan, I'm about to throw up right now but uh, I think you're hot and I'd like to go out some time.
Aidan approaches from behind, and overhears everything.
AIDAN: Sounds good, apart from the throwing up part. You meant me right?
CHRIS: (numb from shock) Uh...yeah.
AIDAN: Great, let's do it. Are you free tomorrow?
CHRIS: Yeah, yeah...ok.
TASH: Ok, he'll give you a call.
AIDAN: Alright, I'll see you...
Chris looks on in shock.
Number 28
Summer is pacing the living room at No.28 worrying that Michael has told Priya that she cheated. Andrew says that no matter what happens, he'll be by her side, but Summer says that she thinks she'd actually rather be alone. Andrew leaves, telling her to call him once she's heard something.
Harold's Store
Michael is staring into space while at another table, Lucas and Emilia are fighting over who is going to pay the bill, with Emilia saying she will. Michael catches her eye after she asks for the bill and she asks him what Summer said about cheating. Michael says that she tried to deny it and asked him not to report her to which Emilia asks if he has reported her or not.
Number 28
Karl finds Summer sitting on the couch in the living room and says he has a present for her. She unwraps the gift to find a book titled 'New Journalism: Conversations with America's best Nonfiction Writers on Their Craft'. She thanks Karl for the gift but appears to feel guilty as he says that he, Susan and Lyn are all proud of her achievements.
Harold's Store
Michael is talking to Emilia and seems to be defending Summer's actions, knowing that she regrets her behaviour. He feels like a hypocrite for expecting Summer to own up to cheating on her VCE because he cheated on his wife for a long time and has kept it secret all these years. Emilia thinks Michael should be setting an example regardless of what he's done as someone in a position of responsibility. Michael wonders how he can report her after the mistakes he's made in his life but Emilia believes that that is reason enough to file a report as he knows what it's like to live with the burden of guilt. Emilia heads back to the counter and watches as Michael abruptly exits Harold's.
Number 28
Karl asks Summer if she minds having cauliflower in her stir-fry to which she replies that it's fine. Michael knocks at the door, hoping to speak to Summer, claiming that it's about Tash. Karl goes to the garden to feed Lenny. Michael explains that Summer is the last person he expected to cheat in an exam. Summer appears to still regret her decision and Michael says that he saw what she said at the school today and it's obvious she feels badly about what happened. He continues that he's made mistakes himself, and for that reason he's cancelled his meeting with Priya. Summer seems relieved and thanks Michael but he asks her to hear him out first.
MICHAEL: Look, you know Summer, the bad decisions I made, the way I tried to keep things secret. Maybe you'll do a better job forgetting what you did than me, but...I doubt it. You know, you're a good person Summer, and having to keep in something you're ashamed of, it haunts you, it's no way to live.
Summer looks tired and stressed, knowing that what Michael says is right.
