Number 22
Andrew and Sophie arrive home, discussing the recent events at the school with Andrew advising Sophie not to tell Paul what really happened. She can't understand why she shouldn't tell the truth and thinks that the only reason Andrew is concerned is because he'll get into trouble. Sophie's typical teenage attitude persists, claiming that she doesn't need protecting, before Paul barges in having recently returned from a business trip, demanding to know answers. Andrew continues to play down the situation but Paul insists on speaking to Sophie.
Ramsay Street
It appears to be a hot day in Erinsborough as heat waves are visible. Chris meets Andrew at the bottom of the drive and remarks that Paul didn't seem very happy as he rushed into the house without taunting him like he usually does. Andrew says that his dad's speaking to Sophie and will speak to him afterwards. Unfortunately for Andrew, Priya has taken the camera away that he and Chris used to film Red Cotton's video so he plans to head to the school hoping to salvage some footage at least. Summer makes her way across the street so Andrew asks Chris to distract her while he talks to Priya, knowing how she'd react to the whole thing.
Summer asks Andrew if he fancies a smoothie but obviously he has other plans so makes up an excuse. Chris helpfully offers to accompany Summer to Grease Monkeys and she jokes that she's not going to buy him a burger but he replies that it's too early for a burger but he could fancy a bacon and egg roll. The pair head off together.
Number 22
Paul is still trying to get some decent answers out of Sophie but is failing miserably. He asks if it was an accident to which she replies that it wasn't, but she didn't mean to break the toilet. Paul is disappointed and can't believe Sophie's behaviour of late, and heads off to find Kate hoping she will be able to help but Sophie's knowledge of her departure causes yet another sarcastic reply to Paul. Paul reminds Sophie that Kate is still her guardian and deserves to know to which she responds that she'd love to hear Kate's reaction clearly bitter at her absence. Sophie explains to Paul that Kate's gone but no one knows where or when she'll be coming back. Sophie suggests that she left because she couldn't handle all the mistakes she made and will probably never be back.
Erinsborough High
Kyle is talking to Priya about the repairs for the damage Sophie caused, explaining that he'll have to call a plumber and the mains will have to be switched off until it's fixed. Luckily he can fix the door and the graffiti straight away though. Priya tells him that she'll close the school tomorrow and Kyle jokes that the kids will love that. Priya asks about the costs before Andrew interrupts the conversation, hoping to get back his camera. Priya heads to her office to collect the camera and Andrew asks Kyle about the costs of the repairs, hoping he will bring down the costs as a favour to him because he has to foot the bill for the damage caused. Kyle says that he can't as he has to make a living but things go from bad to worse for Andrew when Priya returns with the camera, having deleted the footage feeling that the damage of school property should not be exploited. Priya apologises knowing that Andrew isn't to blame but felt obliged to delete the footage out of responsibility for the school. Priya asks Kyle to inform her of the final costs when he's sure and gets back to work.
Erinsborough High
Priya apologises to Paul for keeping him waiting and then tells him that the school will have to be closed for a day while the damage is fixed. Paul explains that he has no problem paying for the damage caused to which Priya replies that it's not good throwing his money at the problem. Paul remains adamant that he wants Sophie punished while Priya jumps in guessing that he doesn't want her to be suspended. He says that it won't do any good for Sophie to have this noted on her record and believes it will look bad on Priya too. He tries to defend her actions by saying she's a teenager but Priya points out that the school is full of teenagers, none of whom have behaved like Sophie. Paul mentions that Sophie has lost both her parents at a young age but hasn't let that hold her back and he is constantly amazed at the things she achieves. An annoyed Priya insists that Kate is still Sophie's legal guardian and therefore she should be discussing the matter with her. Paul explains that Kate's gone away which makes Priya realise that the signature on the consent form is fake, meaning the whole situation is suddenly much more serious. Paul says he'll talk to Sophie while Priya remains convinced that she can't let the matter go.
Charlie's Bar
Andrew meets Griffin from Red Cotton to discuss what happened at the video shoot. He hands Andrew the bill for the guitar which Sophie damaged at the school but Andrew tries to get out of it by saying that the scratched guitar is the best thing to have happened to Red Cotton. He explains that people love bands with a bit of an edge and the video will garner a lot of interest once it goes viral.
GRIFFIN: They're gonna see a 14 year old psycho smashing up a bathroom.
ANDREW: With your single laid over the top.
Griffin asks to see the footage which Andrew doesn't have anymore but he makes an excuse that the video is in the process of being edited and Griffin will be the first to know once its finished. Griffin says that it better be worth it and heads off.
Harold's Store
Chris jokes that Andrew likes to make things hard for himself to which Andrew replies that he's stuffed without the footage. Chris points out that there were loads of kids who filmed Sophie's outburst on their phones and sees no reason why they can't redeem some footage that way. Andrew suspects that it may have been put online and soon finds the footage on his laptop, thinking it's actually much better than the original footage and he'll use it to promote Red Cotton as the new 'bad boys of rock'. Chris questions Andrew's manipulation of Sophie, suggesting he should perhaps ask her permission to use her outburst for the video but Andrew won't let his vision be destroyed, saying that she's already been suspended and it can't get any worse for her anyway. Chris eventually gives in, agreeing to help Andrew with the editing of the video once Andrew reminds him of the role he played in the whole tattoo debacle.
Charlie's Bar
Paul asks Jade if she's heard from Kate and in an agitated state she replies that she'll put Paul on speed dial and call him as soon as she hears anything. Priya enters Charlie's, which Paul uses as an opportunity to play down the situation once again. Paul says that there are extenuating circumstances but Priya replies that it doesn't change the fact that Sophie maliciously damaged school property.
PAUL: This is not Sophie and we know it. (sighs) I'm just asking for a little compassion. To be totally honest with you I could use a little help.
PRIYA: (dismissive) Paul...
PAUL: Look, I don't know what I'm doing here. I've never been responsible for a 14 year old girl before and I don't want to be the reason that she doesn't get another chance. So please...I could use a little help.
Priya comes round to the idea and tells Paul that it may help her situation if Sophie makes a public apology for her actions. A surprisingly naive Paul thinks that it will be no problem to get Sophie to do that and heads off to tell Sophie the news.
Harold's Store
Andrew and Chris are still editing the footage for Red Cotton's video. Summer enters Harold's and Andrew immediately closes his laptop, hoping to avoid a showdown with Summer. She asks how shopping for groceries went which Andrew used as an excuse earlier so that he could spend time dealing with the fall-out of Sophie's actions. Summer soon notices something's up and asks what's going on.
SUMMER: Come on, I know you didn't just shut that laptop because you were looking at dodgy websites...Not together anyway.
Andrew caves and tells her that he shot a video for Red Cotton to which she reacts positively, wanting to see the video but Chris and Andrew say it's not finished and would rather she waited to watch the completed version. She watches it anyway and unsurprisingly she doesn't react well to the news that Andrew is exploiting his cousin once again. Andrew defends his actions by saying that Sophie was the one who trashed the shoot but Summer believes that it is no justification for exploiting her once again. Summer departs, shocked at the new low Andrew has sunk to.
Harold's Store (exterior)
Andrew runs after Summer, continuing to defend his actions while Summer continues to berate him for his behaviour.
ANDREW: Actually I knew you would never get this.
SUMMER: Andrew, we start uni in a week. Shouldn't that be where your focus is?
ANDREW: I don't give a stuff about uni.
SUMMER: Since when?
ANDREW: Are you serious?
SUMMER: I know you weren't keen on the idea when we...
ANDREW: (interrupts) I was never keen. I only agreed to go ahead with it because you begged me to.
SUMMER: I don't remember twisting your arm.
ANDREW: Seriously, you don't remember that?
SUMMER: (angry) No, I don't and if you felt that strongly about it you should have said something.
ANDREW: See, signing this band - this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I don't need a business degree to get me there.
SUMMER: (frustrated) Can't you see that this is more important than managing some band?
ANDREW: Why do you do that?
SUMMER: What?
ANDREW: What you always do...This might not be your thing but it's very important to me. I was there for you for your protest. For your exams, I was there for you when you cheated Summer.
SUMMER: Don't.
ANDREW: Why, why can't you just support me? Summer, I'm sick of you trying to change me into something I'm not.
SUMMER: I'm not.
ANDREW: (sure) You are. I can't handle it anymore...I'm sick of you judging me, I'm sick of you holding me back.
It is evident that this has possibly signalled the end of their relationship for now...Andrew walks off as Summer is clearly distressed and begins to cry.
Charlie's Bar
Andrew meets Griffin and shows him the edited version of the video. Griffin isn't convinced and notices the poor quality but Andrew persuades him, saying that the video at least looks unique in comparison to other stuff out there. Griffin eventually agrees that the band needs to look at things from a different perspective and clearly impressed with Andrew's work, he suggests that the band could do with a manager who has qualities like Andrew. Summer enters Charlie's and witnesses Andrew and Griffin shake hands, clearly having just made the deal for Andrew to become Red Cotton's manager. The pair say they'll be in touch to arrange a meeting soon with the entire band. Griffin departs and Andrew turns around to see Summer who then also leaves Charlie's.
Number 22
Sophie is staring into space as Paul comes home to tell her that she might be able to sort everything out if she makes an apology at school. Sophie appears her usual self, remarking that getting suspended from school is no big deal and Paul tells her that Priya found out about the forged signature. Sophie wonders how Priya found out but Paul says that she's not stupid and knows that Kate has gone away. Sophie refuses to make a written a apology and read it publicly as she's not sorry for what she has done - if anything Kate should make an apology according to her because she thinks that Kate is responsible for everything going wrong in her life.
SOPHIE: She should apologise. But guess what, she can't because she's not here.
PAUL: Kate didn't leave because of you.
SOPHIE: How do you know?
PAUL: Because she loves you.
SOPHIE: (crying) Then why did she leave? Why did she leave?
PAUL: Oh Sophie, come here darling. Let's just take this one thing at a time, hey...we'll fix this thing with Priya and we'll write an apology, that's the easy part. And then we'll fix you and Kate.
The pair hug.
Number 24
Sophie knocks at the door and enters but no one seems to be home. She picks up a frame of her and Kate and smiles to herself longingly, suddenly interrupted by Kyle who comes in without knocking, looking for Lucas. Sophie explains that she's just come to pick up a few things to which Kyle asks if she needs any help with anything but Sophie says she'll be fine. Kyle reassures Sophie that Kate will be in touch soon and departs.
Erinsborough High
Paul tells Sophie to remember why she's reading her apology to the class and Priya tells her she's glad she's doing this. Sophie starts to read the letter of apology she has written, explaining that she understands what she did was wrong and she's at school to face the consequences. Things soon turn sour as she has a change of heart and in a fit of rage says that if she could turn back time she would do the exact same thing again. She shouts that she deliberately trashed the bathrooms and doesn't regret it. A bitter Sophie flees the classroom to a fit of giggles and an unimpressed Priya who watches on as Paul rushes after Sophie.
Erinsborough High
Paul tries to get some sense out of Sophie, asking why she behaved like that in the classroom and reminds her what he said about sorting out the situation between her and Kate but Sophie insists that her behaviour had nothing to do with Kate. No-nonsense Priya enters the room, clearly out for blood and dismisses Paul's attempts to appease the situation, claiming that it had gone far enough and she had no other choice but to expel Sophie. Paul looks on with deep concern as Sophie exits the classroom seeming proud to have received the news that she has been expelled.
