- Michael chatting with Emilia.
Previously on Neighbours
Summer telling her listeners that the council may have been bribed to push through the development.
Michael warning Emilia to stay away from Tash.
Michael heads towards his house after warning Emilia to stay away from Tash but she quickly runs after him to try and talk to him but he doesn't want to talk to her and more importantly, doesn't want her in their lives. Emilia informs him that she's already met Tash a couple of times but does add she hasn't said anything about Helena – she thinks he should be the one to do that.
EMILIA: Michael, I know it was hard for you losing Helena; it was hard for all of us. She deserves to know who her mother was.
Michael doesn't reply, instead heads straight for his car to get the pressie Emilia left for Tash, which he hands back to her and issues a warning – don't come near Tash or himself again!
As Emilia sits down at a table in Charlie's, she gets a text from Tash asking for them to meet. She is in a right quandary over what to do, so doesn't reply to her niece's text and instead pulls out a copy of the picture Summer discovered of Helena winning the beauty contest.
Chris checks with Tash whether a study session is still on at her place but she wants to see how her dad is first before confirming it. Their attention is immediately drawn thought to Summer – she's squealing because she's passed her journalism entry course! They are happy for their friend and tell her about some Facebook pages being created thanks to her revelation on PirateNet.
Summer finishes calling Andrew to tell him about her good news and when she finishes, checks out a Facebook page.
Tash is surprised to see her dad at work - he lies and said that he got something from the doctor and so is okay to come into work. He even announces that he'll pick up ice- cream on the way home from work too.
No we've not gone somewhere new, the garage now has a new name! Lucas gets a visit from Toadie wanting an answer on him selling up but he hasn't decided on what to do yet and asks for more time. The pair of them (and Paul in Charlie's) listen to Summer's show and Toadie is totally aghast at what Summer is saying! “Sounds like your job's got a whole lot harder,” Lucas remarks to the ashen- faced Toadie (unlike Paul who is grinning like a Cheshire cat!). “It's not me I'm worried about,” Toadie replies back to him before leaving.
Toadie arrives at the studios and wants a word with Summer! He tells her that her sources is wrong – there was no bribery since he was the one who got the councillor to sign and explains the story behind the champers too, which wasn't a bribe but an apology for interrupting his anniversary meal. Toad now wants her to issue a retraction but Sum doesn't want to so he goes all legal on her and demands a retraction.
Summer discusses the retraction issue with Chris. He wonders if Toadie is being forced to say that it's all above board because of his work but Sum is sure he is on the level. Chris suggests that Toadie could be lying but she is sure given all they've been through that he wouldn't.
SUMMER: If he says there is no story then there is no story.
CHRIS: So what are you going to do?
At another part of the school, Michael runs into Tash and quizzes her on her plans… which don't say anything about meeting Emilia despite getting a call from her and the fact she's just driven up to the school! Thankfully because Tash has her back to the car park, Michael is able to distract her enough to get her away (sending her off to get lunch for them even though she has plans to meet Summer) and once she heads inside, he immediately goes up to Emilia, who is half- way towards the school, and orders her into her car.
Summer literally runs into Lucas as she is on the phone to Tash (she's calling off their lunch). With the call ended, Lucas compliments Summer on her recent PirateNet show's (he's is impressed) before he leaves the store.
Paul passes on his congratulations to Summer for passing her journalism test when he spots her in the store. She then tells him about her visit from Toadie and having to pull the council storyline and jokingly suggests if he has anything else she can use! Paul suggests that there maybe more to the council storyline than Toadie intimated and recommends she gets the corruption verified from another source before dropping it totally.
Michael and Emilia get out of the car and he tries to explain why he doesn't want Tash to know – while she may appear confident on the outside, inside she is complex. “I think you are underestimating her,” Emilia suggests which Michael is quick to dismiss – she is pulling herself together at the right time of her life and doesn't want that damaged. “There has to be a way,” she replies but he doesn't think so – he thinks Tash wouldn't be able to handle the fact he's been lying to her.
EMILIA: You should have at least told her about Helena.
MICHAEL: Yes, maybe. It's just so hard, she's so like her. So all I can do now is to protect her tearing apart everything she knows about her whole life just before the year 12 exams is not that way to do that.
EMILIA: I just want to do what's right.
MICHAEL: What's right by whom?
EMILIA: By everybody.
MICHAEL: I don't think it's possible.
MICHAEL: I know I've probably done the wrong thing okay, but you being here isn't going to fix it. If you really care about Tash just stay away from her.
Summer discusses what Paul said with Chris as she isn't sure what to do but neither does he! However, Sum then spots the councillor at the centre of the allegations (he's checking out the mural) and plucks up the courage to go and talk to him.
Ajay initially thinks she wants to talk to him about the mural but instead she asks him about the alleged corruption! He seems shocked when she mentions the allegations but then denies that they are true and can't get away from her quick enough!
“Well that went well,” Chris remarks to Sum when she re- joins him and thinks there is more to him rushing off than his excuse that his daughter needs picked up from school.
Lassiters car park
Emilia sits in her car looking at the photo of Helena/baby Tash and she hears Michael and Tash pull up in his car. She watches as they walk towards the complex before pulling away (Michael sees that, not Tash).
Summer runs through her retraction prior to going on air (an unscheduled Hoyland report) and after swapping seats with the previous DJ, she has a final look at the Facebook page before going on air… and instead of saying her retraction, announces instead that she has more info to be revealed after the next song!
Commercial break later and Summer announces to her listeners (including Paul) that the gift presented to the councillor wasn't meant as a bribe. She then looks at her retraction words but instead of reading them out, screws the bit of paper up and asks when is giving a bottle of champers to be considered a bribe and suggests that does taking it mean there wasn't a hint of a bribe there? Summer then tells her listeners that she spoke to people after her piece earlier but she is a journalist, she can't be silenced! On hearing this Paul listening has a big smile on his face and listens in as she talks about her meeting with Ajay.
PAUL: Thank you my girl.
Sum continues by saying that it's too big an issue for the community to ignore and luckily (or not!) for Toadie he isn't listening in as she is saying this, listening instead to some music in his car.
SUMMER: So as a journalist and a member of the community I'm not going to take back what I said this morning. I can't.
She then opens the lines for callers and sees that the phone is flashing away.
