Previously on Neighbours
Jade upset that Kyle went off with Dani.
Sonya opening her business.
Tash reluctant to ask her dad questions about her mum.
As Michael finishes up surfing, Tash and Summer hunt through boxes trying to find out information about Tash's mum but come up empty handed.
Kyle is enjoying the peace and solitude not having Michelle around brings… and wants to have a “friends with benefits” session with Jade but she declines his proposal as she is due to meet a client. He senses too that Jade is uncomfortable about him spending time with Dani although he's quick to reassure her that it's just for show.
Lucas drops by to see if Sonya fancies a coffee but she's too busy to stop. She tells him how great business is and seems a bit concerned that business may be affected when Lucas tells her about the proposed new development.
Kyle drops by to give Sonya a heads up about potential business coming her way too before departing as quickly as he arrived.
Tash surfs the nets for info on her mum – Helena Williams and gets millions of hits to be able to look through them properly. Sum tries to give suggestions on refining the search but Tash doesn't know anything more about her mum to be able to do that, so is told she needs to ask her dad. “No,” is her reply just as Michael returns from his surfing trip.
After a bit of chit- chat (Tash is still suspicious of never having met Ritchie) he sends the girls off to school before going into his bag and looking again at the notice of Helena's drowning and returning the box that contained the petals back into its hiding place.
Michael points out the time to Summer when he spots her sitting outside the store (she's waiting for Tash to come out). While they wait, she decides to subtly quiz him about Helena (asking if he met her at Uni) but Tash overhears and interrupts them before he can reply. The girls head off and Tash explains why she interrupted them – the look Michael had on his face was the same one she got when she asked questions previously and doesn't want Sum asking on her behalf.
Michael goes to do a search on his computer and spots that someone has been searching for Helena Williams.
“You look like you've seen a ghost,” Lucas remarks when he sees Michael standing at the counter placing an order. Reluctantly he joins Lucas and explains that Tash has been asking questions about her mum then admitting he hasn't told her much. “What's there to hide?” Lucas asks and Michael replies nothing then goes on to explain that Tash was only 2 when it happened and didn't know how to talk to a child that young. Lucas then points out that she hasn't been 2 for a long time, which Michael acknowledges, before leaving to head to work.
Dial a Kyle
Sonya drops by to thank Kyle for the referral she got from him (a big order was placed) and as a thank you, she offers him a big discount on any plants she can supply for jobs he is doing.
With some Collingwood players exercising in the background (Travis Cloke, Tyson Goldsack, Alan Toovey and Cameron Wood), Sonya drops by for a chat with Jade but little sis isn't in the mood for chatting nor doing what Sonya is after her to do – admit her feelings to Kyle.
Tash arrives for a chat with her dad (his request) and he asks why she's been searching about her mum. Being honest, Tash explains she wants to know if her ear problems are hereditary and he reassures her she didn't, she simply hit her head in the pool. She then goes on to say that she knows nothing of her mum and this time instead of brushing her off, he asks what she wants to know. “Everything,” Tash replies beginning with what did she die from. Michael tries to evade answering before she pushes him and he replies a form of septicaemia. She pushes him as to why he hasn't told her before and he replies that he was protecting her. “Dad I'm not a kid,” she protests but he explains that she was when Helena died.
MICHAEL: Well you were then that's why… (pause) You know that I love you. It's just that it's only been the two of us and I didn't want anything to come between that.
TASH: Whats that got to do with me finding out about my mum?
Michael really struggles for words before formulating a response.
MICHAEL: You and I okay we'll always have each other, you know that right?
MICHAEL: Whatever happens.
TASH: (puzzled) What's going to happen?
MICHAEL: Nothing's going to happen okay, just… Just never forget how much I love you.
TASH: Okay, I won't.
Kyle comes in to tell Jade about his deal with Sonya and that he knows what is bugging her – she's worried about the rent. Jade doesn't exactly dismiss his suggestion but does his one that Honga moves in! Her only condition for the new housemate is that they have to have money and be normal!
With the Collingwood guys still exercising away in the background, Jade stares into space while working with a client (and having flashbacks to her relationship with Kyle) when speak of the devil, she gets a text from him telling her to get home ASAP he has a big surprise!
Tash gives Sum the edited highlights of her conversation with her dad but then adds she was scared to push it for fear of making him more upset. Sum wants her to ask him but Tash explains that she has no memories of her mum, it's just been the two of them for so long, and doesn't want to hurt him just to find out “a bunch of stuff about someone I've never met.”
SUMMER: I can't tell if you're really together about this or really messed up.
TASH: What are the odds?
TASH: So no more mum stuff. Its over.
Sum nods her approval and both feast on their cupcakes.
Sonya invites Lucas home for lunch and they chat away about her big order when she spots a brochure for the new development… and discovers a garden centre is part of the plan!
Jade arrives home and thinks Kyle's text was an invite for a “friends with benefits” session only to find Rhys in their kitchen… and then he ever so casually drops into the conversation that he is moving in!
Jade drags Kyle into the kitchen for a word when he returns from the garage (he was hunting for a set of keys) and has a right go at him for inviting Rhys to move in without consulting her. After giving him a serve, she walks out before she breaks down crying, telling him that he has no idea and given the look on his face I'd say he doesn't!
Rhys of course couldn't have failed to hear what was being said in the kitchen and asks Kyle “what was that,” after Jade leaves.
